Found while doing the lap of the wetlands. Big thanks to TheScoutWizard for placing this cache. Cache number 8981 on April 19, 2024
On a walk with the Scouts, so I checked the caches on the way. All good! Come and find me!
On the way home from 2 weeks away at Cliffhanger 4wd Event and the clutch on the truck gave up the ghost, si what do you do when you are broken down 1000km from home? Get a hire car and go do some cachesNice easy find and a nice walk, we dis manage to fine a snake on our way tftc
On a bird watching trip to add a few species to my annual list - Round Hill is the ultimate goal but tonight planning to bush camp in Cocoparra NP near Griffith. Got away a bit late but still a few bird watching spots on the way and time for some caches as well.
What a great bird hide - not. Straight into a ton of Cumbungo to see nothing. In the early 90s this was a great spot for waders but might be good for bitterness now but you can’t see much (best bird on my walk today was a couple of Little Egrets). The cache here however was a quick find and Another clean log.

ASsuming the weather is good, I'll be walking Fivebough Wetlands doing maintenance on all the geocaches.
I'll be maintaining this geocache and the others in the area in the next two weeks, once the school holidays kick in.

Searched for a while but unfortunately it was a bust. The cache may be lost to the elements
I fear this one has gone AWOL. Not a sign of it, not even on the ground this time.
Might need to check this one mate been looking for 20mins couldn’t find it anywere
Searched through the mountains of bird poop here, previous logs have mentioned this cache wanders, no luck today, and as previous cache was not in correct location perhaps this one needs checking out for current placement.
Leeton . Travelling with pprass
We only had an overnight at the showgrounds connect to power catching up on some domestic duties.

Although NRC and my original SA plans may have been shutdown by the border closures, we decided to venture out anyway into our immediate backyard of NSW and pick up some counties and some much needed R&R.

Out for a lovely but hot walk with K8TYBEE, Kitty and the kidlets. A nice fast find on this one. So much wildlife here today!!
Found with K8TYBEE on our last minute trip out to Grenfell, Orange, Parkes, Condo and West Wyalong to help her clean up some missing counties. A great consolation prize after having to cancel our trip to South Australia. Thanks for the cache.

I woke up this morning with the smell of smoke from the bush fires. When I went for a look outside, it a dark orange colour and I could barely see the end of the road. With this knowledge, I quickly got my Geo-bag and hopped in the car and drove off in the direction to Leeton. I chose to find the caches around Leeton and Yanco today as there were two FTF’s up for grabs. Also this will also be my first time in Leeton since the 2013 Riverina Swimming Carnival, so I’ll get to see some of the changes around the area. I saw the caches pop up about a week ago and was very surprised that they were still unfound. When I arrived in Leeton, it was a very light layer of smoke and it stayed that way until the last cache I found in Yanco then it started, slowly getting thick but I still had 4 caches planned… so I said ‘screw it, I’ll go get them’! After finding these caches I drove home in the now quite thick smoke arriving home which was still the same as when I left. I enjoyed my day out, the places I visited and all the caches I found. TB visit on all found caches and on some of the smaller logsheets I signed as 5/1 JM. I would like to thank all the CO’s of the caches I found, for allowing them to bring enjoyment to me and the rest of the caching community. TFTC’s
Today’s totals:
19 Finds (17 GC and 2 GCA)
1 DNF
This was the second cache I attempted and found today. After my walk around the wetlands I came up with four finds plus a scare of my life from a black snake. Three of the caches were quick finds while the other one took about 15 minutes. Yes, before you ask, I struggled with the one most other cachers have (GC7KC4V). It was very upsetting to see the wetlands so devoid of water. TFTC

Adelaide Trip Day 14. I finished my trip from Adelaide to Canberra today, traveling from Balranald via Hay, Narrandera and Wagga. It was a pretty hot day and the smoke haze began at Hay, far further west than I was expecting. These four caches were a fun walk, just a little more than I was hoping for. It was pretty hot and the birds were mostly somewhere else. All the caches found in good condition, after quite some looking in some cases.
Thanks.

We are staying in Narrandera and have come to Leeton to find a few of the local caches. We choose to do these first thing this morning before the day warms up to much. We found one side of the wetlands to be quite dry while the other is quite wet.
We saw quite a large snake on our travels and spoke with a man who was counting birds, today is national bird counting day.
All caches were found with ease and all is good with all of them. SL TFTC

Found during an epic long weekend of quality caching around the Riverina with fitzy_1965. Lots of km's covered including some fun wheeling in the beautiful countryside meant for a thoroughly enjoyable trip
This was the third one of an enjoyable walk around the wetlands. Great to stretch the legs and get out of the geounit after a lot of driving. The area was devoid of humans but full of bird life and roos! Easy find of the nicely tucked away cache!
Thanks for the hide, TheScoutWizard

18,541. Found during a meander west of Wagga with specimenX.
Day 2 of our trip trying to go for crossing off previous DNFs and for harder/longer to get caches deep in forests and reserves. We couldn't resist doing the wetlands walk for the four caches on offer. I did love seeing all those swans around - plus those extremely rare kangaroo birds jumping all around the place. Quick find at GZ.
Thanks TheScoutWizard !!

On our travels from Brisbane down to Mount Buffalo we searched and found som Geocaches. Thanks to all owners for the Caches.
Loved this little series. Came to the wetlands on a mission to see brolgas which the helpful officer at the Narrandera VIC said might be a possibility. And yes - they were still there and I got some great photos. Of course the other reason to visit the wetlands was to check out the 4 geocaches there. They were all nicely hidden and except for "Welcome to the Wetlands" they would be difficult to find without the hints. Greatly enjoyed the experience.
The bird count was slowly going up
Along the way from the Brolga Shelter,
I spied Purple swamp hens and Hardheads
A couple of pelicans were soaring overhead too.
Still most of the birds refused to show themselves !! [:o]
I could hear them everywhere
Me second snake spotting of the tour happened along the way ...
... after a couple of ducks flew up in front of me I stopped looking where I was going.
And I almost trod on a brown snake
Not too worry it slithered off into the reeds in time and I just saw its tail
At the shelter I spent about 15 minutes trying and failing to spot this cache
So with a DNF declared I looked out from the shelter over the wetlands for a while.
Turning around I noticed a logbook roll in the corner.
More poking around and I found the bottom of the cache container ...
... all I needed was the lid
It turned up on the other side of the shelter
At least this muggle just dropped the bits and didn't toss them into the reeds [^]

Hi there TheScoutWizard.
We found your cache **"Australasian Bittern Shelter - Fivebough Wetlands"** today. (This makes our find count 19332).
We cached around Leeton today. We didn't really have a plan, but the aim of the day was to cache along a road we haven't traveled on since we became full time grey nomads. (We can now draw another line on our map). We enjoyed our day caching, the walks were really good but flamin' nanos!! [xx(][:(!] Normally we don't even attempt nano caches, their usage has become far too common these days, and many are placed in spots where a skilful hide with a really decent container could have been hidden. Is it any wonder our grand kids don't want to cache with us any more there's no enjoyment for them. Doesn't anyone want to place large, kid friendly caches any more. [?]
We found 15 caches today (DNF'd 4) & thoroughly enjoyed our cache raid. Thanks for placing the cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels.
***Coordinate Accuracy:** We found your cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book is in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** Nothing.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Quick find this morning whilst in the area. Though an early morning walk would be nice to see plenty of bird life. Found a couple of cache here, had to leave a few cache whilst dodging the bird watchers. Thanks for the pleasant walk.
[FTF] at 3:50. No water up this end means no birds here today. Nearly missed the FTF coin. Thanks for that.
