In Kapiti for the day to pickup something had to have a quick stop for a cache. Weather was fantastic today enjoyed getting outside. Thanks for this more creative hide! I wrote in the log and placed the cache carefully back as found. TFTC. Thanks tmann421 for placing this Traditional cache! tmann421 , ! 5 October 2024 at 2:30PM#970th Find
I am in Wellington for the weekend to attend a fellow Geocachers 80th birthday celebration. Having attended said event, and hunted out a few new caches, this one was in the immediate vicinity, so stopped and grabbed it on the way back to the car. Thanks for another smiley.
I missed this one last time I was here, but on that visit I didn't have a lot of time. This visit I had plenty of time, and after getting myself to the right spot I saw the well camouflaged cache and had no problem retrieving it and adding my name to the log---Thanks to tmann421 for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with Geocachers like this creating them and placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.
This was a much quicker find than I expected from the description. Being short made it a little trickier but soon had it in hand. All good at GZ and TFTC.
Yes this was a little tricky. Could have taken a lot longer!---I have been wanting to cycle the expressway trail since... since... long before the expressway was built, probably. And yesterday I realised that a) I had a free weekend, and b) nothing ever happens until it actually happens, so I put out a note to my group saying I know it's short notice, but I am doing this, does anyone want to tag along and to my surprise, TrinityNZ said yes. Turns out she has found most of them, for her it was more a cycle trip than a caching trip. My original plan was to train to Waikanae then bus to Otaki, then bike back at least to Paraparaumu, maybe further, but logistics around Trinity's bike meant we could not do that, so we cycled from Waikanae to Otaki and back. Trinity came a little further then returned to Waikanae, and I carried on to Paraparaumu and took the train back. Was a little worried it might all be cancelled as busses are replacing trains from Wellington to Porirua and Petone and sometimes the busses do not have bike carriers. One didn't but I only had to wait an additional 5 minutes. The other three were fine (two there, two back).Awesome day, possibly too much sun, little to no wind, nice and cruisey.
By the time we reached here the little one was "staaaaarving" . We couldn't instantly spot what we were looking for either so will have to go back to pick the route up from here.
Our first find of the day. A well constructed cache that is standing the test of time. TFTC
Trouve ! / Found it ! Une petite bien cache mais finalement assez vite aperue et logue 4415me cache trouve.Merci tmann421 pour la cache A small one well hidden but ultimately quite quickly seen and logged 4415th cache found.Thank you tmann421 for the cache
This is the kind of cache where it’s good to have a little person with you to make yourself bigger. Great camo, suspected it, then got distracted and went back to it. TFTC
Just near by was an open home and a car accident. It's all go in this area today! A quick walk to cache and followed the hint for a quick find. Nice camo. Spotted on approach.
Thank you tmann421 for placing this cache.

As I walked to this cache I spotted something and on further inspection I knew it was the cache. With a stretch and a bit of bending the cache was in my hand, signed and, with more stretching and bending, returned to its hiding place. Favourite given for such a cool hide.

Nice find while out biking. Definitely needed to bend the branch a long way. All good with contents. Tftc
This was previously a DNF for me. I was in the area today so thought I would give it another go. Combined with the terrain rating, the last log gave a very big hint about where to look. Ok, so I found it, now how to get to it? That part proved very difficult. I debated just taking a photo of it, but that seemed like a bit of a cop out. Using a bit of leverage, I managed to get the lid off, and the log fell out. Good, I can sign it. But, uh-oh, how am I ever going to get it back?!
Using a similar approach, I persisted for quite some time, until eventually I managed to return the log and the lid. For future finders, if you're vertically challenged like me, I recommend you bring a tall person or something to stand on!
Thanks tmann421 for the cache.

On my bike now, and a nice quick find. Tippy toes to reach, but only just. Thanks for placing your cache.
Ms_KR and I cruised around today, picking up the odd cache on our journey to Palmerston North. The weather was good most of the day, and the traffic was OK too.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. .

Working into a groove on the pathway, parked up the bike, having already seen the hint I had it in hand quick smart.
Nice camo, TFTC!

Could not find today. Halfway through looking a man arrived on a mower right behind me, giving me a heck of a fright. Will be back
That was such a neat cache. Bit rough for those of us who are vertically challenged however! FP from me today.
Well ... .. one of us dismissed the hide but the other looked more closely and the log was shortly in hand.
Yet another FP from us. Unfortunately we are out of time today so will have to visit the rest of this trail at a later date with another good store if FOs to award.
Thanks TMANN for this great series of caches.

Day 4 in the Kapiti/Welly region and the time has come to head home but not before a morning of more cycling and caching! Spent a couple of hours grabbing caches from here to the Waikanae turnoff where we started on the first day. I thought I’d search for this one while hubby unloaded the bikes off the Ute but I couldn’t spot it so I eventually called him over and he of course found it quickly. Awesome hide! Can’t wait to start off and see what else you have in store for us today TFTC
After checking out of our accommodation we parked up here to bike another section of the cycleway. Picked up 13 with no DNFS which was good. Lots of singing and laughter from my sister and I so was sad when it was over even though we were getting a bit hungry. Thanks for all the caches.
#10,894. I was up on the Kapiti Coast with Infoferret and Barefootguru today. We had just stopped off for a cuppa at IF's parents place and were making our way along this road when we spied the cache on the map. IF had already done it so BFG and I wandered along to GZ. Read the notes and found our way along the fenceline to GZ. Well I have to admit I spied the cache and assumed it was the real McCoy. So was looking elsewhere when BFG looked behind him and noticed something of interest. What a cleverly constructed and nicely camoed cache. I see it has a fair few favourites and I think it deserves another. Bit of a stretch to get the logbook. Not sure how IF managed this one! Signed and replaced as found. Thanks tmann421 for hiding it here.
Enjoying another bike ride on the Expressway trail with friends on a perfect day. Glad there were three of us - we needed teamwork here to successfully reach and claim this one. Thanks tmann421, another favourite added.
6 November 2021 15:14. Quickly spotted, but retrieveing and replacement was not easy for the 'vertically challenged". Managed it eventually. Tftc. #10353 for 5.
Was out and about with muggles mother, two of us made light of me being a little vertically challenged. A lot of spring growth, and no geotrail to this one. Loved this very creative cache, mum was impressed. TFTC.
When we logged this we said we had added favourite point, but don't think we had any to give at the time. Adding now.
thanks!
thanks!
Quick find while trying to entertain Mr 6 yr old in the rain. Trees provided shelter! TFTC
Headed down to Paraparaumu for a day of caching. Enjoyed walking some of this expressway. Lots of interesting caches. Happy to add to the favourites. Well constructed. Log all fine. Thanks for the smiley.
On a bike ride to Waikanae, loved this one, very cute and clever hide. A favourite point for this one.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Found on a stroll along the cycle path on a sunny afternoon. A clever hide, nearly missed it. All good, tftc!
Replaced the logsheet - WOW the cache area has become really overgrown. Now best approach is along the fence from the road, I have updated the hint a bit.
I had noticed there were a couple of challenging aspects to this cache. One of these I didn't expect to be much to concern me but the other was a different story. Sure enough, I did need a few minutes to make the spot although that was largely due to me not quite being in the correct location to begin with. I then ran into an unexpected problem - I couldn't unscrew the lid. Luckily, I hadn't parked far away so I was able to return to my car for a tool. A leatherman easily took care of matters. I left things in such a way that the next finder won't have the problem. Understandably, this is a popular cache - there is only one spot left on the logsheet.
Briefly in the area today and had another crack at reaching this one. Had trouble a few months ago. Spied it but just out of reach while out on a long bike ride. Fresh today tho so thought I’d give it a go. Yippee! Many thanks
Only problem here was dodging the cycling muggles who were out for their morning rides, both in accessing GZ and when departing. Cache spotted easily and log retrieved with out any problems.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
Macfam41 found it while Mrs Macfam & Southridge Laird of Kinlochaline were competing at the nearby Kapiti Dog Obedience comp. They were placed 5th & I found the cache. Good day, great comp, great cache. TFTC.
Now this cache deserves a FP. Was searching everywhere for this one and then spotted something that didn't look quite right and bingo had the cache in hand after a stretch. Thanks for a great hide and unique container.
Thanks tmann421 for placing this clever cache
It's tricky placement is in a nice sheltered spot but only just within my reach...
Great camo so deserves all the FP's.

We had to travel to Kapiti today to pick up a family member who had arrived from Canada for a short visit, but since the good weather was continuing we made sure we left in time to do a little caching too.
This cache was #4 today and our second of the Kapiti Cycle/Walkway trail series. As we are limited to walking, and not doing longer distances, we hope we can gradually do some of these caches by parking near to entrances and walking in a bit.
Here we hardly walked in at all and some long spring growth was showing a geo trail to the cache location! With that, accurate coordinates, a clear hint and a likely idea from a log what more support could we need?! We had little trouble locating the cache and signing the log. The cache was nicely constructed - gets a fav. TFTC

Driving around on a hunt for ice cream with jgirl1880 when we saw this cache had high favourite points so decided to give it a go. Had a fair idea what we would be looking for and spotted it as soon as we arrived there. I’m vertically challenged but was able to grab this one. Very inventive!
Thanks tmann421 for the cache. It’s #1146 for us. We found your cache on 2 November 2019. Quick find - easier thank I thought it would be.
now that I'm a premium member I am able to award favourite points, so I'm awarding some to the more memorable and enjoyable caches that I've found, added a favourite point for this one for the nice hide
Nicely hidden, eldest son spotted it quickly and we managed to retrieve the logbook without too much trouble, TFTC
I came up the coast today to boost my numbers for September.
I parked up down the road a wee way and headed on over. Any cache involving a pine tree usually means one thing, and I spotted it almost immediately. I did need to obtain some leverage but I did end up with the log in my hand. Signed and replaced, and then back to the car. All good here. TFTC

Found on a cycle ride up from Raumati to Harrisons and return on a rather nice sunny day. A slight breeze heading north but a delight going south. TFTC
Today had been forecast to bit a bit wet, but when I woke it looked as if any rain might hold off for a few hours so I reckoned that was a good enough reason to jump in the car and come down to Paraparaumu to try to boost my numbers for September!
I've had it in my mind for a while that I want to cycle this track alongside the expressway in order to grab all the caches along the way. But as it happens I seem to have acquired most of them simply from random visits like today. Just a handful of them remained for me to find before today, and now there's one fewer.
I had to park up about 300m away from GZ and walk to it, but once I arrived there I had a fairly shrewd idea of where the cache might be, and sure enough I spotted the nicely concealed hide fairly quickly. I'm glad I'm not titchy thought lol! Everything was fine the the cache, so it was swiftly signed and replaced as found.
Thanks for the interesting cache. I'm always happy to reward these kinds of caches with a FP.

Awesome little cache to find on an evening stroll. Took a bit to spot, but found after a little searching . TFTC
The Walkway is a great asset for walkers and bikers. No one around as I searched (all visiting mum on Mother’s Day?). A tall companion would have been useful to reach this cache - but what a great hiding place.
An early morning start to ride the bike on Expressway Cycle / Walkway to find some more caches before a meeting in Foxton. The track was quite busy this morning. FP. Thanks tmann421 for the cache.
I decided it was such a lovely evening that I would go for a walk and pick up a few of these walk/cycleway caches while in the area.
This was the first cache I arrived at, and fortunately there were no muggles around, so I was able to duck down and look for the cache easily enough. Although the hide was quickly spotted, retrieval proved problematic with my right hand in a cast, so I moved on.
However, as the coast was still clear when I returned, I thought I'd have another go. It took a bit of tricky manoeuvring, but I got there in the end and then had a bit more of a challenge getting it back. Where there's a will there's a way!
Thanks for setting this nicely hidden cache up tmann421

I made myself a plan to get all the souvenirs in the Cache Carnival that is going on that the moment. The idea is to celebrate geocaching creativity and diversity around the world!
And at the same time earn up to five souvenirs inspired by historic carnival locations by collecting points. The carnival ends on 14 April 2019 and I am logging this now to confirm how many points I have collected before the time expires.
However, as happens from time to time, other things got in the way. I was horrendously busy at work and all three of my kids had a big week of school and sporting activities in the last week of the school term. I still managed to get out and find a cache each day but I got a bit behind (and I still am) with logging all my finds on the website.
I am sorry to all the cache owners whose caches I visited during this time because it is likely you're getting a generic, cut and paste log without much (if any) detail about the state of your cache.
This one was memorable. Thank you for the effort you put into the container. I enjoyed find it. It made me smile and gets a FP form me.
The cache is in good condition. All nice and dry.
Thank you

I had to visit schools in this area so of course i had to visit a cache or two each day. and these two were close by each other and provided a short walk between them.
Now this caused a bit of angst! i was rather vertically challenged and even using my trusty geo stool i was afraid i would get it but not replace it back and then.....Ah the recycle plastic bin that was now empty.. i could up end that! so i nonchalantly picked it up and walked to GZ hoping the owner would not come by at that moment.. and then it was a little easier to retrieve then sign and replace.
thank you for this cache and another smiley face It is worth a fav point from me.

Have driven past this many times but weather, muggles, prior engagements, inclination etc have meant we didn't stop. Decided today was the day as all the ducks were in a row. Approached expecting it to be a lot more difficult than it turned out to be. Quickly spotted and business completed. Deja Vu a similar cache I maintained for Desert Rats in Otaihanga. TFTCSL
Found with bkj97. Nice and dry underfoot today and area deserted so a quick find. T4TCSL Favourite added on behalf of us both.
Good one, loved it. Thank goodness for the hint though or we mightn't have given it a second look. TFTC .
(# 4622). Came up the coast to grabbed the new caches on the expressway. Enjoyed the walks that I had to complete the retrievals. A quick find after looking up. A nicely constructed hide that deserves a FP. Everything in order. TFTC
Cache # 4,462 - A really sunny day made this an easy find, especially as I ended up in exactly the right place to see the cache at first glance. Great version of this type of cache, and worth a favourite point. TNLNSL. TFTC!

First find on a walk along the Expressway today.
Thought I wouldn't be able to grab it but then I remembered the hint there is a saying: "If all else fails remember the instructions."
But my second worst fears were confirmed when the log fell down (the first were that I would drop part of the cache for it to end in an awkward place!)
I thought the log had ended up on the far side but while scratching around in my bag for a temporary log and expecting to have to apologise to the CO I found the original log at my feet- phew!
Quite a few cyclists whizzing past but this cache was situated in such a place that I could get away with doing it.

10.30am. Back in Kapiti for the weekend. Out for a walk to seek 8 that have appeared since my last visit. A well made hide here deserving of a favourite point.

Thank you. David.
I was a bit concerned about the proximity to the road here but it turned out I found the cache without that being too much of a problem after all. As usual, accurate coords made short work of locating this despite the excellent camouflage. I haven't been overly generous with FPs lately but this gets one from me. TFTC.
