This cache has done its dash. I was never happy with the hide to begin with but thanks to those who found it anyway and didn't complain!

02-Apr-22
I came here as an excuse to try getting to eastern Porirua from the new TGM interchange and so evaluated the state of this cache. Something's different here but I couldn't put my finger on it and the cache was not where I remembered it to be. The only place remotely suitable for the hide I remember was not suitable any more. So where is it then? I looked around for probably 10 minutes before finding it slightly in the open but quite close to where I guess it should be. The camouflage worked really well and I must have looked where it was at least twice before wondering what that strange rectangular object was.

All in all this is a terrible place for a cache so I removed it after considering where I might re-hide it and coming up empty.

I think this might be due for archiving but on the off chance that somebody wants to find it before that happens I will temporarily replace it somewhere on request. Otherwise consider it in purgatory awaiting entry to geocache heaven.

BTW I also specifically looked for the "jolly good" pen mentioned by MrsSeaBreeze but did not spot it anywhere.

Gosh! Slipping and sliding my way around here for a blue sad face. That was a bit tricky today. Will return!

12-Jan-22
I went back as I’d discovered I must have dropped my nice fine tipped pen. So now there is a rather large non- geotrail but a jolly good pen up there for the next person- you’re welcome!

Good fun find

I visited Bothamley Park and walked the three arms of the track, collecting the caches that trancer96 had placed since the last time I was here.

I missed this one on my walk from Tararua Close so I jumped in the car and drove around. The find was a bit tricky as the grass was rather damp and slippery from the drizzle. I had to check a few bushes to find the container, but I got there in the end. As others noted there's unfortunately a bit of rubbish around. And being winter there was a strong smell of onion weed in the air.

This was find number 7, my last for the day - another great seven trancer96 caches. Thanks trancer96 for your efforts here.

A nice find after searching a few bushes. TFTC Smile

Nice spot for a cache. Scored a few apples while here. Tftc

I was defeated by this one a couple of years ago after thrashing around in the long wet grass. Today was much drier, and after reading recent logs I followed my GPS. It was a bit indeterminate, zeroing out between bushes, so I looked somewhere a couple of meters awayI don't think I looked last time. Bingo, there the cache was. Glad to get this one out of the way before jumping off the bank like a lemming.
TFTC.

This was the toughest find of the day for me. Initially diverted by flattened grass which turned out to not be a geotrail, I retreated to the path and decided to trust my GPSr resulting in success. Cache and log in great condition. TFTC

24-Oct-20
Felt very much like a lemming, building my own steps and tumbling down the hill...
knowing what a shrub vs a tree is might have helped but did look around a good many

Sorry to the next cacher as I have destroyed the geo trail of there was one when I arrived

Quick find thanks to accurate coords. This part of the area seems to have some ferals who think it is OK to chuck their household rubbish over the fence into the reserve which is a shame.

Went for a walk with The Wandering Dragons today and found this cache on the way to another one. Astro Hunter found it again (after we searched all the logical locations). Thanks for the cache. Did with Ezratar.

Cache is still there - correct and present.

Had a good look and found all sorts of rubbish. Scrambled around for a while, but nothing found.

Took a bit of searching to find this one. There are a few ways to go up the bank and I took the wrong one. The bank is a bit of a an old tip - for bonus points see if you can find a paua shell, a pair of sneakers, and a cheese toasty maker. Will bring a rubbish bag if I return! Cache is in great condition, thanks.

I searched and searched and still nothing. Retreated and thought again. Reread the hint. Up the bank I go, it should be here and there it was. All good here nice and dry. TFTC

Talla64 and I had a good rummage around for this one but sadly came up empty-handed. Oh dear - never mind, onwards and upwards (whatever that means!). Thank you anyway.

28-Jul-19
Took a bit of scrabbling around to find this one but we got it eventually. Cache was very waterlogged and the log will need replacing. TFTC.

28-Jul-19
Although the last finder neglected to raise a maintenance request the cache was clearly in need of maintenance. I stopped by today with a replacement cache with a new clean log. Although I'd forgotten exactly where the cache was the geotrail is a bit of a giveaway. I have to stop putting caches in places like this!

Despite the original container being a retail item supposed fit for purpose it totally is not and this the second one of this type I have now binned (I mean recycled) because they just aren't good enough. The replacement is a camo'd Sistema which, despite not having a great rep are, in fact, watertight because of their silicone seal.

I did not put the original log in the new container because it's a bit manky but a photo of it is attached for prosperity.

No luck here today

strike day today for the teachers, but not for geocachers...quick easy find here, TFTC

Love the lemmings games, played a lot when I was younger. Cache quickly found, a little damp but still signable. TFTC.

Quick scramble for this one. All is well. TFTC!

I hadn't read the description before attempting to find this cache and had formed an incorrect idea of what the environment at ground zero might look like. As previous cachers have also done, a few minutes of searching were needed. The container didn't exactly stand out with lots of long grass around and even the sticker on the container was a similar colour to its surroundings.

This was the last cache find of an enjoyable short loop walk with occasional cacher, Netty and geofoodle, Biddy. On a windy day, it was good to find somewhere sheltered.

19-Oct-18
Plenty of shrubs to search. Plenty of rubbish to discover. I just didn't manage to find a cache container amongst it.

02-Aug-18
Had to pass some extremely upset dogs on the way down this path. Thank goodness they were behind some tall fences.
Soon at GZ and cache found after a short search

02-Aug-18
Good cache find on a walk around the area with woolwood9.
We soon had it located, after checking a couple of wrong hint items first.

#5770. I needed a few caches today as I have a long term aim to get 10+ caches found on each day of the calendar year (yes I know we are an odd bunch). So headed up to Bothamley Park to collect the available unfound caches. I parked on Niagara Street and wandered along the path to the GZ. Yes the signs do seem to be overkill. But I guess if anyone falls into the creek they can't say they were not warned. Found the apple tree near the GZ. The slope was very wet and greasy and so took some scrambling to reach the likely hiding spots. Cache was found after about 5 minutes of searching Signed the logbook and replaced the cache as found. Thanks for hiding it here trancer96.

04-Jun-18
Took us a little while to find, GPS kept playing up and there's a lot of rubbish around the place that gets mistaken for a container. Great to have a cache at this end of Bothamley Park, thank you

Didn't take too long to find, TFTC

26-Apr-18
I had a little trouble here, some old problems came back to haunt me as I tried to negotiate the last few metres to the cache. Other than that no worries. TFTC

20-Apr-18
UlmusLynx did the climb and had to come down on all fives but appreciated the long, dry grass to do it on. Selesi and I offered support from below and advice on the likely site of the cache. We were right. Good crop of apples nearby. TFTC

20-Apr-18
Out with Gilgul and Selesi. Definitely a bit of a scramble up and a slide down. TFTC

Called here this afternoon, this is a bit of the park that I had never visited before. The cache took me longer to find than it should have - it was right where I started searching but I missed it and I spent some time searching surrounding locations before returning for a successful find. There are some quite nice ripe apples on a nearby tree, they're small but very tasty Smile Signed log, TFTC.

#10,054. Another entrance, another walk in Porirua City on the Bothamley Park walkway – this time in Waitangirua. GZ was all quiet when we visited. Found after a short search. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

Thanks for the placement, and for bringing us to this site, and …

Saw the two new cache when they were published and decided that I was not going to go for the FTF as when it was published I had just arrived home from a walk in the same track and one of the caches was only a few hundred of metres from where we were, and this cache was on the other track that we pass a few hundred metres pass where we walked.

Decided that I would come here and pick up this cache today as I needed a cache for the day, decided to park on Warspite Ave and walk to GZ from there, was not surprise with the area and knew that it was a very interesting spot with plenty of interesting decorations along the fence lines.

The walk to GZ didnt take too long and arriving near GZ, I was able to spot the geotrail which lead me to GZ, arriving at GZ, I managed to find the cache very quickly, signed and replaced the cache back as found. Thanks trancer96 for placing this cache here and for bringing me to this spot, TFTC TNLNSL (13250), pity the apples near GZ were still a bit from being ready, would have being a great reward for visiting here.

Great day for another cache and also take the dog for a walk. He’s been getting a few in the park here. Thanks

Cache # 4,226 - joint STF with Astro Hunter and Violet Butterfly. Surprised to find that this has only been visited once so far, as it has been out a number of days. Walk to the cache was extremely pleasant, and drop off did not look excessively dangerous. Took a while for GPS to settle, and we explored several possible objects before VB said "what about that one?" and AH then quickly found it. All good here. Thanks for the new caches in the area! TNLNSL.

Easily found after a short climb up the hill. As I was signing the log I kept slowly sliding down. I quickly signed the log and returned cache where it belonged. Sliding back down the hill was the quickest route. Tftc
