Over here for some r&r which always includes geocaching.
Grabbed this one on our visit to Lake Ferry and Cape Palliser today.
Quick find here - Could not sign log as to wet to the degree of being mush. Left as found. TFTC.

Not a bad day to walk along the Lake Ferry coastline. Nice find TFTC but the log is completely soaked with water in the bags so couldn’t sign. Might need replacing
A quick find in a windy wild spot. But wow what a cool place. Log was too wet to sign. TFTC, sorry for the late log.
Found on a day's trip to South Wairarapa, picking up PWGT caches, Adventure Labs for The Science of Discovery event, and generally attempting to clean up the caches I haven't found previously.
On my last trip out to this part of the country I swung by here to try and grab it, but at the time there were lots of vehicles, so gave it a miss.
I came back down today and was surprised at the large pool that had submerged much of the fence line, but I took a chance that the post I was after was still above the water line. Reaching GZ I could see the cache and it was indeed above the water, but only just. I threw down a small driftwood log to stand on while I retrieved the log, but saw that it was soaking so didn't bother signing. Replaced and then went to take a look at the non-existent outflow. TFTC

It would be so good if these containers were were waterproof but the log was soaked. It was a lovely day at Lake Ferry with a picket line of fisherman all along the beach.
After a delicious lunch at the pub we walked along the beach. Such gorgeous scenery here!
Found the cache easily, the logbook was very wet.
Thanks for the cache.

My family and I were going off for a trip for the weekend down and around the area so during the weekend I thought it would be a good idea to find a few geocaches and get myself up to 500.
As we were waiting for our dinner at the nearby restaurant, my little brother and I split from our family for a little bit to find these two geocaches.
#500 woop woop. Sadly the log was very very wet so we were unable to sign it, but very happy that I have got to this (small but still amazing) milestone and hopefully many more milestones in the future. TFTC!! Very cool time here and great to find all of these geocaches!

Stayed a night in Greytown, now finding some caches on our to Cape Palliser on this very hot day. Soon had cache in hand, signed and return as found. Thanks post33 for the cache.
It was too hot to walk very far today so I parked in the nearby area instead of leaving the car up by the road proper where I stopped first. The GPS was pointing me to an odd place but it made sense when I arrived. A bit of moisture had got into the bag and made the log damp but it was still signable. TFTC.
Very pleased to find this quickly as it's 35 degrees and too hot to put in too much effort. Off to the pub for a cool refreshing drink. First time ever to Camp Ferry.
A nice walk out here. There was a great drift wood sculpture on the beach side. I had difficulty removing the lid on this one but determination prevailed. Thanks for the placement
Enjoyed the short stroll out here,as I had to leave the transport in the car park...guess you wont get sand in your shoes, still a unique stoney beech..many thanks Pots33
I wasn't that convinced that there was any decent parking. But thereeis a parking waypoint so off we go - oh look! Heaps! Had a wander around the beach and off to the lake outlet then back to the car and waited nearby for the rest of the crew to return, not realising they were already in the car waiting for me!
The plan was to go tramping but the weather report was particularly disappointing. So my sister, my nephew and my self went camping at the Pinnacles instead. Fantastic weekend, great weather, although quite blowy on Sunday. And on our return to Wellington the weather was... particularly disappointing. It was hosing down! I am glad we went for option 2, but I am still in need of tree time.

Found with MuzzaL53 on our way to do the Tora Coastal Walk. A lovely part of NZ. Tftc
#1246. A nice walk along the beach brought me to this cache. Existing log is full, so replaced log and plastic bag.

Nice find with woolwood9 on a quick trip away finding some geocaches.
No problem with the find here, but the container was very hard to open,

No luck with this one today, as the GZ was almost knee deep in water. At least lunch at the pub was worth stopping for. I may have to try this one again during the height of summer.
Was a bit tight to open. Log book needs replacing. Did not have anything to replace it so will bo next chance I get.
On a road trip around the lake and decide to collect this cache after a yummy lunch nearby. Like previous cachers I could not get the top undone, so I took a photo to show I was there. A good hide. TFTC
Found it easily enough but unable to open it as too tight!!! CO if your not happy with this post you can delete it
Returning to NZ after 8 years collecting caches new and missed.
Missed this area last time so headed out to take a look today grabbing a few caches on the way.

There is an interesting man made structure in the vicinity, I'm not sure what that us about but the cache nearby was quickly found after getting a feel for the CO's style. TFTC
I came out here today with an old work colleague who is living down south of where we used work. We decided to have lunch at the Hotel. Very pleasant.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
Your patent cache container idea is real fun. If you get round to making version 2.0, then perhaps I’ll be waterproof!
We were surprised to find such a huge parking area here, but looking at the activities it’s clear it is to accommodate the large numbers of fishermen and women on the spit! The cache is jolly soggy but we managed to sign. Clever idea. TFTC
A nice hot and sunny walk along the coastal walkway gave us chance to stop and find this one. Signed and replaced. Cache is wet inside but fine condition.
My garden gloves helped me in do this one. It's Canterbury Anniversary weekend so JDScout and I organized cheap flights up to Wellington awhile back. We stayed at a friend's house in Greytown and have based ourselves there. Thanks post33 for placing this geocache 7940 find for me.
Sadly there was no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. New Zealand will have another large event in 2020 in Auckland.

Planning for the NZ Mega 2020 event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. Thanks for hiding this geocache.

In the excellent company of GSEL, BFG and Denominator, we worked our way along the Coast trying to collect caches which had previously eluded us. Took a little spotting, but D had the sharpest eyes here. TFTC
We knew what to look for after the last couple by this CO that we found. All good here today. TFTC post33!
#7407. Over to the Wairarapa today on a road trip to pick up a few caches down in the Cape Palliser area. I decided to reduce the carbon footprint of the trip by enlisting the help of fellow cachers Infoferret, Barefootguru and Denomynator so we had a full car load. It made for a fun day out and having four sets of eyes certainly makes locating caches a lot easier than the bumbling efforts I normally make. We stopped to grab a few caches needed by different people as we made our way south. I have cleaned out much of the area so this was one of the few I hadn't found previously. Parked nearby and a short walk to GZ. BFG soon had his hands on the prize. Signed the logbook and returned the cache as found. Thanks post33 for the cache.
Although caching in poor weather is usually not so enjoyable, one upside is that there are less likely to be muggles about, Surprisingly, there were a few today but they didn't really come into play due to the positioning of the cache, I would have expected logsheets to remain dry in these type of containers but both were wet. I still managed to write in one though.
Down to Palliser to enjoy the spring sun while it lasts and pick up some caches. Watched a 4wd with anti-1080 stickers plastered all over it completely disregard the signs requesting people not drive on the beach, something that soured the place a bit, but pretty rock formations near GZ were interesting. Banian's Good Friday trip to Cape Palliser to get the most southern North Island cache, and a few others.

After lunch at the hotel popped down here for a quick find. As the previously finder mentioned the log is damp, there was quite a bit of water in the cache, which was a little surprising considering the construction. Anyway added a new replacement waterproof paper log in its own zip lock bag.
Thanks for the cache and the good hide.

#10,642. Park and grab in Lake Ferry. GZ itself was pretty quiet when we visited. Quick find. The cache itself was in good condition, but the log book was pretty damp inside. We managed to write on it though. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

Missed turn off on way to the pinnacles. Ended up here. Pretty cool beach. Log is saturated.TFTC
GPS showed three meters to go when I was standing on the edge of the water ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I took my shoes and socks off to wade to GZ, found the cache but as it was a couple of inches under water I chose not to open it in the hope that it might be watertight. Took a photo instead

Day 13 of our NZ adventure. An early morning bike ride from our accommodation in town to grab a coffee & set about locating some caches. All found without any problems. Returned to our accommodation and set off with our friends to Cape Palliser. Climbed the steps to the lighthouse and nearly blown way. Admired the seals and then headed to Lake Ferry for a late lunch at the Hotel enjoying their famous fish and chips.
Quick find where all not too good at GZ. Container all ok, logsheet saturated. Placed new waterproof logsheets in place - now All good at GZ.
Thanks for another smilie

Today was a beautiful winter's day for an outing to Lake Ferry and first up, we had lunch at the hotel. I'd have to agree with agcnz's comment about the excellence of the food there - not so much the coffee though which was decidedly 'average'.
Then a walk in the sunshine down to the Lake Onoke outlet and around the coast via this cache. Thanks to agcnz's recent easing of the thread on the cache container, it was not difficult to unscrew and gain access to the sopping wet log. As Anthony also mentioned, waterproof paper (e.g. florists' paper) would work better here. I later regretted not having put a few strips of it in the kit today as several other later cache finds (around Martinborough) were badly in need of some maintenance.
In spite of the fragile soggy log paper, I was barely able to write on it, but I also took a photo of the log for the record.
Nice cache placement and a good reason to revisit this beautiful place. TFTC.

Thanks for placing the cache. The log is wet. Given the type of container, I am puzzled .
Nice easy find in a lovely location. Log wet and unable to write so took a pic. TFTC
Decided to have a day in the Wairarapa and clean up a few unfound caches. It was raining inland but pleasantly clear down at the coast. Drove to within a few metres of the cache and spotted it almost immediately but getting into it was another matter, that thread was really tight! Managed eventually with some difficulty with the help of some slip joint pliers from my geocaching toolkit. Unfortunately that container is not waterproof and despite the log sheet being in a plastic bag it was sodden. If the CO is thinking of doing some maintenance a waterproof log would be well worth while. Before reassembling the cache I greased the thread with some petroleum jelly and have screwed it up a lot less tightly - hopefully the next finder will have a bit less difficulty. Thanks for the cache and for bringing me here, and as a footnote the nearby pub has excellent coffee and food
We found the"pipe fitting" the third for the day. However the plug screw - in is so tight we were unable to undo it. It may need a good big pipe wrench which we did not have. So we would like to count it as "Found" but are happy to note it as DNF if the CO disagrees. Many TFTC.
Nice evening for a walk to get this cache. Camping at Lake Ferry and taking the opportunity to get the caches within walking distance TFTC
Was in the Wairarapa with Mr-Mcgoo chasing a FTF and after getting the FTF on the cache GC7MJBW - Leprechaun's Putangirua Pinnacles (Wairarapa) we decided that on our way back towards Lake Ferry that we would take a small detour since we were in the area and have a look and see if we could pick this cache up as well.
As we arrived in lake Ferry in the evening there werent too many people around and as we neared GZ we managed to get a parking spot not too far from GZ and then once we got out of the car we knew it was a short and easy walk over to GZ. there was a muggle sitting in his car, but as we made our way towards GZ he decided that it was time to move on.
As we neared GZ it only took a few seconds for us to work out where the cache was and we soon had it in hand, signed and then replaced it back as found. Thanks post33 for placing this cache here and for bringing us to tis spot. TFTC TNLNSL (13259). Time to head home but will be back in the future with Mrs Yeetrees to do some more fishing.

Went to get this one after getting the FTF at the Pinnacles. The area was quiet being a week day. A quick find. Everything in order. TFTC

Awesome Cache. Quick find after a walk on the beach. Then off to the pub for fish and chips. Happy Easter.
Cache # 4,220 - FTF with CelloJoss at 10:40. Had spent the night in Masterton, and woke in the morning to see the announcement of several new caches, including one in the Waiarapa. Seeing its location, and having nothing particular planned for our three hours before we headed back to Wellington, we decided to make the trip to Lake Ferry and see if we might get lucky. Not having much hope, as FTFs are rare as hen's teeth around the region, we rejoiced greatly when we got to the cache and found a completely blank log sheet. My first FTF in more than 2 years and CelloJoss' first FTF ever. Thanks for the thrill for the day! TNLNSL. Favourite point, of course, awarded!
