Logs
GPS signal bouncing all over the place so went with intuition - quickly in hand and log signed. TFTC!
A cache trip to the south of Canberra do some more of the Vampire series. Signing with VAT. A number of caches planned to pick up on the road and a second extra walk along the Murrumbidgee to round of a fun half day outing. and others added on the fly. A fun group outing on a beautiful late warm spring day. This cache: A quick find along the way.Thank you DARKSIDEDAN. for putting the cache out and maintaining it.
Spending some time in and around tharwa today, spotted this one quite quickly. Tftc!
Carolyn and Clive found this on 26/04/2022 with their granddaughters Percy (4) and Dido (2)
Heading back to town after the event and stopped off for a couple of caches along Nass road with Smittengranny. Took a few minutes of searching before the cache was spotted, but eventually all was good and the log was soon signed.
Thanks DSD....
Thanks DSD....
Out and about with Nibletricecakes and we had a few hours so headed back to Tharwa and Smith Road to continue chipping away at the Vampire Series. We also fitted in a couple of awesome cemetery caches and a church cache which we had abandoned searching in the dark a few months away. 9 finds, so a very successful afternoon. TFTC.
Smaller than we expected! Took some hunting, but we got there.
A great afternoon exploring the area with GLISS! Some incredible old cemeteries out this way, and beautiful scenery with full rivers and creeks and the spring flowers and birds out. Great to tackle a few tricky caches as well as exploring the trails. Thanks for the cache!

Today’s adventures out and about picking up some of my solved puzzles and Vampire series on a blustery winter’s day.
All logs in good condition unless otherwise noted.
Thanks to COs for placing and maintaining these caches.

A quick find here with Contesta after dispatching vampires on the eastern side of the river. Thanks, DSD.
After coming out this way a few weeks ago I left a couple of caches for my return.
Obviously came back today after a visit out Orroral way and dropped by for a nice quick find. After a couple of DNF’s and evidence of flood debris I was happy to see the cache still in place.
Thanks Darksidedan!

DNF No luck here today, decent floods through here. As per previous logs, GPS bouncing all over the place, will try another time.
Found after attending a nearby event. It avenges a previous DNF and is a lot easier to find after being replaced. TFTH
Always great to change a miserable face for a smiley and today Gerriactive & I finally got this little devil! Many thanks to BuddhaGuts for his non-generic posts which have encouraged us, in many cases, to go the extra mile! Both the GPS and the phone were all over the place again here, just like last time and I can assure cachers it is NOT in the middle of the road!! Ha ha
Silvereyes and I spent quite a while searching from one side of the road to the other. The GPS kept changing its mind. Then Silvereyes found it. A good find. TFTC
Stopped by to pick this up on the drive back to Canberra. It took some searching, but I persisted and found it where I suspected it must be - just on the opposite side! Nice new logbook. I was the second person to sign. TFTC DSD.
We decided to head out for a day of caching on the southside, as we have quite a few to choose from in that area, and collected ALL7 along the way.
We had planned on doing a bit of walking today but had to change our plans because of the closure of the Namadgi park. So we decided to clean up one side of the river and leave the others for another day. We searched high and low for this one, and the area showed signs of being affected by floodwater, so with the permission of the CO we put a replacement. Thanks for the cache DARKSIDEDAN

Stopped to try to find this one on the way home from Smith's Road area - no luck. As per the last log, it looks as though there has been a tremendous flow of floodwater through here, debris caught up in the guard rails on both sides of the bridge. Must have been a mighty sight on the day! Scraped out lots of grassy stuff to no avail. Think this one has sunk somewhere.
I stopped and looked around for a while but could not spot the container. There are also signs that the area was flooded at some point.
Cache 5517 on 13 Oct 2019.
I was keen to get out and grab a few caches today, and Fitzy_1965 was at a loose end after dropping Minniek off at Pine Island, so we decided to combine our efforts and grab a few caches together. We decided to head down south of Tharwa to grab a few Tankengine caches and what ever else cross our paths! I got 11 caches which I was happy with, and Fitzy also got quite a few. A lovely morning caching and catching up on the gossip!

Thanks DARKSIDEDAN. for the cache and thanks Fitzy_1965 for the fun!

A quick drive-by, on the way to visit the old Honeysuckle Tracking Station. GZ took me to the middle of the road, but after broadening my search, the cache was soon in hand, signed and returned. Had to be discreet with the sporadic traffic. Tftc

Day 15: Clear Waters Mega Trip
The plan for today is picking up random suburbs, Trail of the Damned, Stuff of Nightmares and other exciting DT ratings (hopefully some letterboxes ??).
Thanks DARKSIDEDAN. for being part of my Clear Waters adventure.

Quick park and grab on our way through. Can't drive too far without stopping for a geocache. TFTC!
GZ had us standing in the middle of the road. We found the cache on the other side of the road. Quick park and grab. Thanks DARKSIDEDAN for placing the cache here for us to find.
Dez (JezNDez) and I had travelled down from Brisbane with Lennondayz29 to attend the nearby Mega event over the Easter weekend. As most of our caching so far had been park and grab type caches (albeit caches selected to be away from the expected Mega hoards), Dez and I were eager to stretch the legs today and had planned a walk to Bog Hut in Namadgi National Park.
Having survived the brutal terrain (the only thing that could make it wore would be a healthy dose of Queensland lantana), we were glad to be on the road back to Canberra and a nice hot shower waiting for us.
We passed right by this cache on the drive back and managed to drag our weary bodies over to GZ where the cache container was quickly found. TFTC

Out this afternoon for a few caches. I have been looking at the series up Smiths road. So I grabbed a few today. Cheers
Today was based around the drive to and from Orroral valley for the mornings event. I stopped for a few caches on the way down and several more on the way home. An enjoyable trip with plenty of success.
Thanks.

Found with nissan 65 on a few days caching in Canberra. We headed up last night after work and stayed at our usual over night spot in Goulburn before heading out this way. Thankyou to all cache owners for placing these for our enjoyment
Quick stop and find after the FTF at another nearby cache today.
Many thanks to DSD for all the recent cache hides .

#8819 - 14:10; Another day on the caching calendar in need of a 'top up' and seeing I had an errand to run southside, I decided to head further south to collect some of the caches on the way into and out of Tharwa. It was nice to add another in this now much extended series on my run today. Enjoyed a nice quick park and grab on this one after passing through Tharwa. TFTC DARKSIDEDAN
After attending the nearby knife show Genghicat and I decided to grab the nearest caches. This was found in good condition. Tftc
I headed out with Smittengranny, Joolay, dty73 and aquilus1 today so SG could get some more caches on her way to 6000 finds. Lots of fun with these ladies and had a great day. TFTC
I joined Aquilus1, Smittengranny, Kittykatch and Joolay on an adventurous day of caching the Vampire Series.
As with most group caching, some people had some caches where others didn’t. But I think everyone was satisfied with what we picked up. I know I was! I got to fill some of the holes I had and turned those green dots into smilies.
We worked together like a well oiled machine. Each of us had strengths that we utilised to find each cache without any issues. Joolay with the awesome monkey skills, Kittykatch knows just the right tool to bring to get the job done, Smittengranny best note taker even when coffee deprived and Aquilus1 the river crossing goddess. Thanks gang, I had a great time!
The area around here is so nice and I never would have come here if it wasn’t for a cache (and my friends). Thanks for bringing us here and Tftc DarksideDan!!!

Out on a lovely day with Kittykatch, Smittengranny, dty73 and Aquilus1 running around picking up missed caches and doing others. Weather was great and had a great day with great company. Awesome skills were combined for this one and all help was appreciated. And sorry about the similar log. TFTC
Another fabulous day out on the caching trail today - this time with Kittykatch, Joolay, Aquilus 1 and dty73. We travelled in two cars but managed lots of relaxed chatting as we walked between caches. The Vampire Series were in our sights but we grabbed some smilies along the way. All caches attempted were found to be in good condition and now carry our names. Mostly mine is SG.
Thanks to all the COs for placing these caches for us to find. TNLN SL.

Jazzy3008 and I were out for the afternoon to pick up a few caches since it was a nice spring day. And being a public holiday added to the incentive to be out and about. We headed down south to pick up a few more from the Vampire series...
On our way in, jazzy3008 had pointed this cache out to me just after I'd committed to crossing the bridge. We didn't want to re-cross it on foot, so we went on to the main trail. On the way out, I suggested we stop off and grab it, which jazzy3008 agreed with. A quick find and we were on the road again...

Today’s weather indicated that spring has finally arrived. Given sumbloke had been wanting to continue the vampire series for awhile, we decided on hitting up the ones along Nass street and Smith street.
Grabbing cache was an afterthought, after we had picked up quite a few today. Once we passed the bridge, sumbloke decided we should pick up this cache before we wrapped up for the day. Tftc!

A day out in the bush seemed a great idea on a gorgeous Spring day, so after looking at all the available options we chose the Vampire series which promised a good walk and great scenery. Of this one was a drive by: just warming up!! Thanks DSD.
I had the itch to go caching today and the clouds weren't going to stop me so I talked Sax64 in coming out and grabbing the Vampire Series, well some that we hadn't got yet, and were close to the road. We pulled over the side of the road and walked over to gz and it wasn't long until Sax64 had spotted the cache, retrieved and signed log and placed back as found. This was our first one of the day at 2.30pm. tftc DARKSIDEDAN
Big night Saturday night. We are all up late and seedy. I popped out late in the afternoon Sunday for this one. Do frogs have to croak so loudly? Thanks, DSD.
As we were doing a country roads tour today, we decided to pick up some of this Vampire Series of caches - in the daytime, of course. We found the ones we looked for and signed the logs before moving on to continue the hunt. Glad we were able to locate these before the Vampires came out to do their hunting after dark. Many thanks go to DARKSIDEDAN for placing this series. We hope to be able to find some more of them on another occasion.
Headed out today to grab a few of the extended series. This was the first and it was found quickly.
Thanks,
Thanks,
Cleared up a few more of the Vampire Series this afternoon, beautiful views all round on a sunny but cool and breezy afternoon. All containers were in good condition and the accurate coords helped greatly in making quick finds. TFTC DSD
Aquilus1 and I were planning a more serious day doing some rock hopping and bush bashing in Namadgi, but with it still raining at my place I called it early that it wasnt the safe option. So, instead we determined that we could do one of the new vampire trails past Tharwa.
This was the third for the day and the first guard rail
This was the third for the day and the first guard rail
I hadn't been taking much interest in the 'Hidden Creatures' challenge, but when I realised I was so close to getting all the souvenirs just by caching as normally, I decided to make that extra effort and get the last two souvenirs. So today with Decrypter we made a trip out past Tharwa to find more in this and other series. Most caches were found without problem. TFTC DARKSIDEDAN.
**FIND #78 OF 200**
Well, the day is here! A day I had planned for quite some time. 200 finds in one day with Loci612. We started out just after 6am, in absolutely freezing temperatures given it had been -7 degrees overnight. With a very tight plan for the caches today, we headed out to find our first cache at 6:38am. From then on, it was a very tidy stream of finds. We hit a hurdle with Paddy's Pass but eventually made the find. After that, all the finds were relatively easy until the section of ALL7 caches heading south along Tidbinbilla Road. A few of these caches caused us some strife but we eventually found all of them.
After driving all morning finding caches, it was nice to get out and stretch our legs with DARKSIDEDAN and joeylovestreasure's Vampire Trail. Some enjoyable finds out there! After that we headed out to Burra to pick up the new ALL7 caches along the roads out there. A lot of nice and quick park and grabs and our first DNF of the day, on Burra #24. A few caches in and around Michelago and then we were off to Old Cooma Road for the last couple of caches for the day. I found I was one short at the end of it all so we swung by a quick cache in Fadden to make 200 finds for the day!
Lots of ALL7 caches for the day and a few other ones thrown in the mix. All logs were signed CL or LC with the date 12/7. Thanks to all the COs who placed caches that we found today!

**Cache #80 of 200 for the day! **
A while ago Cankid came up with a crazy plan of attempting to find 200 caches in a single day with the help of the recently published trails by ALL7 and lots of extra's thrown in along the way. I said I was in and a plan was hatched!
The day started at 5:30am when I drove down south to meet up with Cankid, and we soon headed off soon afterwards, picking up cache #1 at **6:38am!** The temperatures started off below 0°C for the first couple of hours and we struggled to open the containers and sign the logs with numb hands. The day soon warmed up however and the layers were taken off and we powered through all the caches on our pre planned list!
Cache #100 was then found at **12:37pm** almost exactly 6 hours after we started and halfway through our goal.
Cache #150 came at **2:57pm**, we had only rested for about 15 minutes by this point to have some lunch!
We were soon very close to the target but the last couple of caches were slower ones back in Canberra just to finish off the powertrails with something more interesting. By the time we were all finished up it was **6:51pm**, not a bad effort considering and just over the 12 hour mark! It was certainly a long day!
P.S Sorry for the generic logs, but 200 caches was a lot to take in! All the ones I remember have extra comments down the bottom
---
*We signed the log either **C.L or L.C with the date 12/7**, for Loci612 and Cankid. We had a miscommunication and depending who signed the log put a different letter first *

We have been a little side tracted lately and not been out in the wild caching. Been watching how many new caches have been published and we needed to get out and have some fun.
We set out early while it was still dark, bagged a swag of caches and finished in the dark, we made most of the day.
We invited Wilbert67 to join us and it turned out a great day out.
It felt like we had 4 seasons in one today, the temperature fluctuated, wind, snow and sunshine, the caches there were many variables in types and hides.
Thank you to all the COs for their effort on placements and to add to our enjoyment and Wilbert for your company.

A great long day of caching that had everything in it. From city to country, from high to low, from warm to cold. We managed to knock off quite a bit of trails, drive trip, beautiful views and vampire series being the main ones. In between a few very nice single traditionals. Loved driving around this part of Namadgi and seeing snow today was great. Thanks to all the cache owners for putting the caches out, the quality was surprisingly good! Thanks to J+J.AU for taking me along today.

My 3rd time out caching the infamous vampire series. This series is extremely varying, some caches being more challenging than others, namely those across the river. This cache however proved one of the easy ones, a simple drive-by amongst the drone of a model plane doing the rounds. Tftc
A caching day on the way to Smiths Rd for the Vampire Series with Marmaduke Rothschild. We stopped here for me to get my eye in. TFTC.
Living in NSW and working in the ACT has it's advantages and today was an example of that with a public holiday! Headed out with fitzy_1965 for the day that saw me picking up 72 smiley's and 2 DNF's.
Most caches were found quickly & easily. Certainly loved the views we saw along the way.

Gotta love an ACT only Public Holiday A last minute plan was hatched to head out and grab the new Beautiful View and Drive Trip caches, as well as a bunch of Vampire series and the odd bonus cache along the way. This was the next of many caches found today. As were most this was a quick drive-by find. Signed the log, replaced the cache, and we were off to the next one. Funnily enough we ran into the CO while in this area today !
Thanks DARKSIDEDAN !! Awesome effort ! Bring on the rest !

I went out for a morning of caching to collect those still waiting for a find, but my morning turned into the day with a planned walk out in the area for a few caches, was a nice day to be out and bumped into a few other cachers out along this road as well. A quick find while waiting for the CO and heading off on our walk. Thanks for the cache Darksidedan.
SecretSquirrel-BJC and I managed a few of the easier drive-by caches in this series to finish off a great morning out caching. TFTC

Such a beautiful day to be out. Decided to attempt the Vampire Series to-day and see how many I could get. 14th of the day. Now back to Tharwa for pie at the shops before doing a few more caches. TFTC and the series.
Chooo ooo [FTF] now that the sun has come out again. It was raining steadily until a few minutes ago. Another nice easy one to get started - but now the fun was about to begin. Thanks DSD.
