Catching up on my logging, 2020 has been a bit on the busy side already. This is one of my nearby home caches I was saving for a needed find day. Well today was one of them days. Was very smokey because of the fires along the coast, so I wasnt keen on spending too much time exposed to it. Fortunately a nice easy find here with a clear hint. Signed and replaced before resorting back to the geo-mobile. Welcome to 2020 peoples. Smile

After reading logs and seeing log book full, which is great that so many people have found this little critter, I went out and replaced the log book today for more people to find Smile, shell and all.

An early mark from work for me meant a spur of the moment Northside geomission with ZimbaW Big Grin Great to make a clean up of some local caches we'd not made the collect on for ages and several which had recently spawned.

ZimbaW had made the find on this one previously so I was on my own here. Took a few moments to uncover the little fella for the signing!

Thanks for the cute hide, Darzee Di Cool

In town for the mega and staying with friends nearby and picking up a few local caches and this was one of them. Spotted this one quite quickly.

**Thanks to Darzee Di for placing this cache.**

It was very blustery out here today even on the flat areas.
Found the critter well hidden from the elements and signed the log sheet at 2.15 pm.
Many thanks to Darzee Di for a well themed cache hide.

For some reason a few of these have challenged me, this one however was quickly found. TFTC Darzee Di

Was keen for a quick find today, of one of the very few caches I have left up in Gungahlin! Another crazy critter sounded like a good idea, had no idea which critter it could be this time, and I found something I wasn't expecting!

The gate nearby to access the stormwater grate was wide open, so I pulled into there and off the road and only had about 30m walk to GZ, nice!

Took me a second to find the cache as it was well hidden, but not too many spots it could have been!

Thanks Darzee Di and well done on the creative camo!

F(H)ound it! #2965 @11:15 AM

The last official holiday of my Christmas break. Can't say that I'm totally sorry to go back to the air conditioned office next week as the forecast is for another heat wave.
A great hide - nearby parking, easy terrain (I've damaged my knee), and a cute little container that the RP could find. Very cool!

Thanks for the cache Darzee Di

Drove around with AngelG27 to find a few caches. She did most of the finding, but I chipped in occasionally! With all this hot weather, we only did park and grabs, Sorry for the late log. TFTC Smile

Cache 4432 on 7 Jan 2019

I was not decided on whether to head back to work today, but when I slept in, it was clear I was not ready to face the office again. So after some light jobs were finished in the morning, Bobl27 offered to drive me around for a couple of hours to grab some unfound caches in Gungahlin. I found 10 caches today, including two challenge caches and a previous DNF, so a reasonable haul for not much walking.

This cache: after not finding the other one in this neck of the suburb, I was glad to see this one was a simple find, with a cute cache guardian!

Thanks Darzee Di for the cache and the fun!

I am officially crazy. Instead of just getting my daily cache (day 83) and going back to the warmth of my home, I continued on and collected another cache and now this one too! It's so freezing cold out here and my fingers are going numb. It took me a little while to find this critter. I've been trying not to use hints lately and am pleased to say that all three caches tonight were found without using the hint. This one took longer but I got there in the end. The cache was actually upside down and practically buried. Nifty little critter. I signed the log (possibly with the yesterday's date) and return it, right way up and covered over. Okay, that's it. I'm going home! TFTC

I'm nicely retired. My lady still works and her kids are back at school. So I have time during the week for caching, and to keep up my daily fix of caches, for my 365- and 366- day challenges, and for sanity.
What a day. I’ve delivered my lady to work and her kids to child care. I’ve loaded up the GeoSchnauzers and headed for the northside, to see my ex-work mate for brunch. We’ve had a good brunch and catch-up, and now I’m off caching. It ended up a good day, with four finds and five of the UGC series found and signed off as notes, together with several walks for the GeoPuppies. We’ve had one find already. This is our third find. I was able to park near this one, and the dogs and I had a very short walk to GZ, where I quickly located the cache. Great critter. Delish with butter and garlic …
We had intended to walk up to Ahoy There Hoover, but the wind was very cold, and even the low-slung dogs in their fur coats were unhappy. Thanks, Darzee.
I’ve been reading DarkSideDan’s logs. I’ve found out about the Author Badge for getting an average one hundred words per log. I usually do decentish logs (in size anyway), so I looked up my stats and found my average log size is 98 words (now 99 according to Project GC) . I don’t know how they do the rounding, so I’ll assume the worst, and say I have 3 words (now 2) per log to make up. That’s around 8000 words, giving a generous allowance for notes, DNFs, problem logs etc. Hopefully I can do that by the end of the year. I might even write a program to calculate my average myself ….

04-Aug-18
Found him slowly crawling around where the hint suggested. Thanks for your great series. Tftc.

02-Aug-18
Found with Decrypter. We parked some distance away so as to get a bit of a walk. We arrived at GZ and started searching and soon D had CIH. He wasn't sure whether he'd done this one before, but we couldn't find his name on the log. Then we took a different way back to the car. TFTC.

Out for a few caches with dty73 tonight with a few of the newer ones out this way that had been published since we had cached here last. Not unusual for us to be out at night, parkings good and in the dark it's easy to not worry about stealth as much expecially here with the nearby windows blinds all shut. Had been ok and not so cold until now but did notice the temp had drop a whole lot while here. Shivering with the cold is not the best way to get to the log but then again, maybe it helped shake the log out! Thanks for the cache Darzee Di.

25-Jul-18
Aquilus1 and I decided to pick up a few caches tonight. It started as one, but ended in more. We arrived at this one to find the chilly wind had picked up and so the search was on for a quick find and sign and back to the heated car. Tftc Darzee Di!!!

What a cute little container, glad we don't get them this big this far south. Spotted his home poking up through the ground cover and captured him, though being what it was that was nothing to write home about!
Thanks for the cute series - only a couple more cunning creatures to capture.

12-Jul-18
Cute little cache, however I could not get the logbook out. TFTC!

Bit of a drive around Belconnen, Parkwood Road, Church Lane and then Gunghalin for a few of the newer caches and a couple of not so new. TFTC.

Circled a couple of times, then eventually spotted the little guy. Very cute!

Not a great day to get out caching weatherwise, but with an event at midday in the north, I took the opportunity to spend the morning clearing out as many of the newish caches as I could. After picking up a few by bike along the border, I then did a few park and grabs. A quick find here. TFTC.

03-Jul-18
A nice and different hide. Been out near here for other caches, so a familiar area.

Thanks,

After the morning event I headed out for a bit more caching to enjoy the great weather. A short walk to a good looking spot and I soon had this cache in hand.

#4208 3rd for today

We're in a period of very cold (-5C) overnight temperatures this week, so caching tends to start a bit later than usual, but once the sun was out it was very pleasant, still conditions. I only had a few hours today around lunchtime, so I tried to make the most of it before heading off to a friends birthday celebration.

I liked this one. I have eaten these too. But not this one.

Thanks to the COs: Darzee Di

15,989. Found on a fun day caching around Canberra with minniek, Darzee Di and ACTChil.

A quick drive in from Goulburn and a drive-by pick-up of our days caching companions soon had us on the hunt for both GC and GCA caches. This was the next find of the day. I've enjoyed all of the Crazy Critter caches and this was especially nice as we had the CO watching during the search and find. Signed the cache, replaced the cache, and we headed off to the next one.

Thanks Darzee Di !!

13 May 2018

Found with AlphaDeltaIndigo, Brewmaker and The Bebes.

I have been working towards a self imposed target, with the goal of the upcoming Giga
Event in Cincinnati OH to be my 4,000th milestone. Needing in excess of 200 caches before I fly out to the United States of America in just over a week’s time, I hatched a plan to spend a weekend in our Nation’s Capital to help me reach the required number. I floated the idea out to a few geo-buddies and there was immediate interest, so we made the necessary arrangements and were eager to get going.

It was an early morning start on the Friday. I picked up The Bebes on the way through and we swung by the newly published ‘Whites Creek Wetlands’ Earth Cache (GC7MW51) in Annandale for a quick First To Find to start the trip on a positive note. Continuing on to Brewmaker’s, we hopped in the Brew-mobile, with the bikes on the back, and hit the road towards Canberra. The main target for the first day was to complete the section of the Canberra Centenary Trail (CCT) from Hall to Bonner. It was cold, windy and a little wet, but the mountain bikes ate up the trail and the riders conquered the mountain. In the evening, AlphaDeltaIndigo bused in from Sydney and we relaxed in the warmth of a pub to watch a thrilling Swans victory on the big screen.

The Saturday was almost as full on but the riding was a little easier than the first day. We cycled the length of the Majura Cycleway series and back again, in similar weather conditions, picking up as many caches as we could along the way. After a surprisingly good dinner at a veggo restaurant in Dickson, we continued driving around town to finish up a long day with some more finds.

We woke on our final day of the trip to sunshine and slightly warmer weather. The main objective for the Sunday was to complete as many caches of the University of Geocaching Canberra (UGC) series as we could, as well as others in that area. We struggled on a few (and had to log a Did Not Find on some) but otherwise did well in making a dent in the series. On the way back to Sydney in the evening, we made pit stops in Penrose and Pheasants Nest.

A fun and successful weekend caching with great company. Thanks For The Caches to the respective Cache Owners.

Day 3 of our weekend in Canberra to clear out some of the trails and series. OCW The Bebes, AlphaDeltaIndigo and JordsAU using cycles as our mode of transport. But today we used the Brewmobile as we attempted to grab as many of the UGC series as we could plus any trads/puzzles/multis aong the route. Some great hides and interesting views along the way of the ever-expanding Canberra. Thanks to all the COs for placing these hides. TFTC

One of the crazy critters (and others) published while I was still in the office, so no chance to get there for a first find, especially not with the Engine running at full steam!

I was going to come by on the evening of the first day, but while I was collecting Crazy Critter #7 my daughter started texting with some bizarre notions about wanting dinner. So, I settled for a stop off on the way home the following evening. Easily found, even in office attire. Thanks for putting out all these crazy little critters for us. TFTC Smile

Chooo ooo [FTF] on a glorious Thursday afternoon. - I knew there was some new crazy critter caches on the way, so was excited to see them published today. So after a few closer caches, I headed straight for these! This was a fun (albeit slow) little critter! Found nice and quickly - thanks DD!
