What an incredible place! We enjoyed exploring and soon had the cache located after reading previous logs tftc
On my previous visit to this series (normally after trips associated with finding the excellent Kowen Roo caches) I'd not really had the time to make it to these slightly further points.
Today I did have the time, and enjoyed the short cycle from the trig to the homestead trig where the cache was quickly found in an obvious spot.
Thanks, Farmers 5. Some great history here. A favourite from me!

The first time I attempted this cache the area was very overgrown with foliage and it was impossible for me to search… today was a very different experience and I was able to find it quite easily. Always great to redress a DNF. TFTC.
Out for an easy wander with Noikmeister today. Coords were good and found quite quickly despite the number of possible placements, which was just good luck. An interesting site. TFTC.
Found at 11:28:00 AM with BatGirl
Out for a walk with BatGirl doing some caches on a beautiful day. Can't believe there was a family of 13 living in this residence!
Thanks The Farmers 5

Wow what a lovely location, love the dual access to the cache too. Table and chairs make this a nice resting point! Cache is good tftc
Such a perfect day venturing on a nice 12km walk into the countryside and a bit of Kowen Forest on the side with Dazzpete. Nice hiding spot took about 5mins to find. Best ruin on the walk. TFTC
Again no joy with this one - the area is very overgrown & there are too many possible hide locations.
Out with my youngest daughter doing some map and compass work for her Grey Wolf hike preparation. Mrs Oz KEG came along with us and was collecting the caches (I have already found) along the way.
Tftc a tricky find but one of lawton x 4 found it. Searching with fruitsushi too.
Out on pushies with Curloo and Tabmw. Thanks for the hide. Ran onto MPTree and FruitSushi. That's guys for your help.
What a fantastic spot! Luckily it did not take too long to find as it could have been anywhere with the overgrowth. Brilliant spot. TFTC
The Omnia walkers traverses the Burbong Track this afternoon which provided the opportunity for Elleise and me to seek out this geocache. It was a reasonably straightforward find, being in an obvious spot within a metre or so of the coordinates. Subsequent visitors should know that you don’t need to turn over stones to find this cache; in this way we will avoid damage to this historic structure. Thank you The Farmers 5 for installing and maintaining this cache.
Another journey out to Kowen Forest for the fabled ‘Roo’ series. Hoping to have it completed before the Summer heat kicks in.
Parked just off the highway around 7am and headed out on foot along Charcoal Kiln Road. A perfect opportunity to check out the smaller ‘Walk back in Time’ series as well.
From the second I stepped out of the geomobile the flies were upon me, and didn’t let up for a second over the next 4.5 hours. Seriously annoying!
Wasn’t aware of the history of the region so much before, thanks TF5 for bringing me here. Found WBIT #1 through #5 without issue before heading into the forest proper. Again, no issues with the finds, Roo #43, #47, #46, #52, #51, #48 and #42 found with little to no scrounging around. Had previously worked out #44 and #45, just a little bit of back tracking required in collection. Heading out of the forest it was back past the gun club and down towards the river for WBIT #6 and #7. Came across a good sized brown wiggly stick as I entered the compound, slithering back under ruin brickworks. A little distracted with finding #6 now, hoping it was far enough away not to be an issue. Semi confidently searched around, bingo. A very quick sign and replace and no issue sighted.
Hiked across the raging creek and up to the hill summit for #7. A quick find followed by a well deserved rest. A carb and isotonic hit then back down the other side and onto the track leading to the geomobile. Not a muggle sighted all day although a few vehicles parked at the gun range.
Thanks to the COs for placing and maintaining the caches, any significant issues or remarks or anything I might have found interesting added at the end of log.

I have driven past this trail many time and thought to myself that I needed to explore it. A month ago I parked at the start and grab one of the information brochures. Doing some research at home, I discovered that there was a nice GC trail giving me an additional reason to explore the track. Today was the day, my family was in Sydney so I could disappear and it wouldn't be noticed. I walked this trail in reverse order. A nice easy find, thanks for bringing me here and for the caches Farmers 5.
Second day out and about in Kowen Forest saw fitzy_1965 and I targeting everything but the Roo.
I ended up with 18 Tankengine caches and we got two surprise FTF's. Was definitely a great day out.
Well we couldn't get to this one yesterday as the required gate was locked. Today we were in the right way and made our way to GZ. The Kia made it down the noted left turn and we parked about 130m from GZ. Again, not entirely happy with the placement a) because it requires part of the building to be moved and b) because of the possibility of snakes in the weeds growing inside the building. Once back at the car, we kept going because we couldn't turn around....passed the gun club we came to an impasse but was able to do a u-turn here so back the way we came and made it back up onto the main track.

19,376. Found with minniek during Day 2 of our meander around Kowen Forest.
While the 'cousins' were mostly hitting the Kowen Roo, we decided to take advantage of the forest access and concentrate on - mostly - the eastern side of the forest and clean out that area. We went through the Sparrow Hill Gate at about 11:30 and started on our list. This was the next find of the day. Another fun drive and walk to this one. A careful search led to the find. We signed the log, replaced the cache, then headed off to the next one.
Thanks The Farmers 5 !!

Out with loci612 yesterday. thanks for this cache. Signed dsd or DARKSIDEDAN depending on the size of the cache.
**This Cache:**
Another one of my favourite locations for the day! I really enjoy abandoned buildings, which would probably explain why!
This was fun to walk through the ruins, and see the measures they have taken to stop it from collapsing more. The cache was also hidden in a fun to find spot, and is in great condition. Well done and thanks for the cache!
We found a Magic the Gathering trackable in here too! Quite rare, as they were a special release and couldn't be bought! Awesome
**This Series:**
Ever since this series has come out I have been really keen to do it, I never knew this historic/heritage walk existed, nor that it was all on public property! But after reading the description and comments it became a priority!
I have attempted to do this series twice now, but both times I have been distracted by Tankengine caches, which included FTF's!
So today the plan was set once again, and I came along with DSD. It was a very eventful but hot walk when the sun came out as there was barely any shade the entire time! We did the Walk in Time series, as well as one Tankengine cache, and DNF'd the cache near the railway bridge
We saw cows, bulls, kangaroos, two brown snakes (both in creeks!) and lots of fly's, horse fly's and grasshoppers.
Thanks for the fun Farmers 5!

A great day to get out and do some caching. This is a great little series. I had always wondered what was in this area. I suspected private farming, so this was unexpected.
Took way longer to find than it should have, but I finally got there.
All caches found and in good condition.
Thanks for the trek into the past, The Farmers 5.

Having finished with Kowen Roo for the day and with aching legs Genghicat and I grabbed this as our last cache in the area.
I wonder what the room that doesn't open into the other rooms was for? And where did they house the ball with the 15 guests. So different from our lives and such a shame that such a "grand" house was allowed to disintegrate. Very interesting trail.
Cache found in good condition. Tftc

Nice little location and history that I was totally unaware of before coming here. Definitely true about caching teaching you bits of the past and taking you places you wouldn't otherwise visit.
Thanks for the cache and the history lesson.

After competing in the ACT Long Distance Orienteering Champs east of Bungendore, I stopped off to ride the Glenburn Heritage trail and find these caches. About 1.5 hours all up. Cache easily found. Left TB. TFTC.

A 25 k walk around Kowen to-day starting with the Walk Back In Time series. I did it in reverse as I was then going further north afterwards. . Enjoyed the history and the caches. House has seen better days. TFTC.
Setting up for Nat Cap and we decided to stop past and grabbed this one
Grabbed this one at the perfect time. I had been enjoying playing with my new camera and managed to get some very nice pictures of the sunlight hitting the ruins.

Last for the day with DRT after finishing our Rally stage set-up and we managed to find the right track to make this a drive-by. The cache was found in the second spot we looked and then we were treated to a magnificent sunset.
Great to finish this series highlighting the pioneering history of our area - TFTC

Now this site is just magic! The old stone house, the orchard, the river close by, a stunning location, so peaceful and quiet. We had afternoon tea in the orchard, it was warm, and the overipe fruit gave off a heady aroma... it was all a bit Somerset Maugham. Cache located in the second place I looked of the two quite similar potentials. Left a WoW dwarf figurine. TFTC The Farmers 5.
Saw these come out last night, but was expecting someone over to purchase an item I was selling... So I told myself, I'd rather do these during the day anyway. So today I headed off on the bike, to try and collect them all! This one was the second one for the day. I have been to all these locations with geocaching before, but they were archived about 6 years ago. A while after that, I was going to place some caches at these spots, but had a very nasty run-in with the supposed owners of the shearing shed.
This spot would have to be my favourite! Love the old ruins! Fav from me, thanks TF5.

*FTF* 11.55pm with dty73. The walk through to this cache got ourselves warmed back up after the slower pace earlier and still enough moonlight to walk by without using the torches but a cloud cover meant we lost our shadows that were cast by the moon. The kangaroos can still been seen quite easily though and watching them bounce along in the light entertaining but then to jump over fences not seen by us quite amusing! This building in the half light had such an ambiance and against the bright sky was quite amazing. Often much is lost at night but doing this walk tonight the moonlight really did add to the experience and although I would like to return during the day very pleased to have made the trip tonight. Thanks for the cache and the walk back in time The Farmers 5, an easy earn FP for the location and the series.
*FTF* 11:55pm with Aquilus1. Another great ruin. Love this place!! It is places like this that I wish I could get visions of the past to see how it looked back in its day. The orchard nearby was all full of fruit that was just passed its used by date, but the smell of the fruit was so yummy. Tftc!!!
