Thanks for the puzzle, took a while to realize what the tag was, but easy find at GZ.
Pretty sure I found the NFC tag in a logical place given the cache name, but stuffed if I could get the iPhone 11 with NFC Cool to read the tag - unless it was coded in a different format that program doesn't support. Oh well, can't win them all. Thanks Phronimos.

#14,765. Had the special wireless receiver tool required for this field puzzle based in Fitzroy, New Plymouth. A short walk to the final GZ, which was fortunately all quiet at the time of our visit. Relatively quick find. The cache was in good condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.Favorite point added for the fun field puzzle.*Thanks for the field puzzle multi and geocache placement, and for bringing us to these sites, and **.T h a n k s. .f o r. .t h e. .c a c h e.**.M a u r u u r u. .k o e. .n u i. .a t u. .h o k i. .t e. .k e t e r o k i.*
JrGun9 had a Cubs event nearby so while he was there I thought I'd go for a walk and carry out one of my hobbies by finding a cache. There was only really one close by but it looked to be a fun and interesting multi and then I noticed the D / T rating! At WP1 I quickly had the info but as I couldn't copy and paste it I had to keep rescanning it to ensure I had the right numbers. Thankfully this was an easy and quick task. Then it was a quick check I could make it there and back in time before heading off to the final. At the final GZ thankfully it was a very quick find where I also found a trackable. And then it was a walk back to where I started in the heat with only one incorrect detour.T F T C Phronimos.
WoW finally a D5/1 for my grid. In town for a friends birthday. Thanks for the fun. Cheers
i happen to have the correct TOTT for this cache.

Whilst on a mission to the Naki with ABCDF4, Squirrel Nutcase and Fap ( Fap & Gap), found this cache, i think the Squirrell has said it all.TFTC.
With ABCDF4, eyespyben, and Gap (of Fap and Gap)... A planned expedition into the Taranaki region. All logs were signed with our individual handles, or Team HRP (Huntly, Rotorua, Papamoa) depending on who accessed the logbook first...
King's Birthday Sunday: It rained heavily overnight, and today was marginally better… We’ve recently completed an NFC cache put out by this CO, so this multi caught our attention. It took us ages to find the tag. We ignored the obvious and got caught up extensively searching another object. Once back on task, the final coords were quickly revealed.
Ground zone appears to be a construction zone, and workers were on site on a Sunday. Fortunately, no one was outside, so we got on with the business. A quick find in good order - Thanks Phronimos. TFTC.

The stump the geocache was in has now completely rotted away. Replaced cache to behind stump against rock.
Oops. It seems this one may have worm-holed away. I’ll be up shortly to fix it, but in the meantime disabling.
Just about every cache with a tasty D/T rating on this trip I've tried has ended in a DNF... and this one is no different sadly. I targeted this cache as 5/1's are really hard to come by, and all was going sweet. WP1 found easily and spat out some coords for GZ.
GPS took us over to a spot which matched the hint however no container was found. Nothing else in the area matched the hint and/or wouldn't have been wheelchair accessible so I assume it might be missing.
Thanks for the hunt and walk anyway!

#21039. I wasn't familiar with the Who's on First version in the cache listing (the only one I'd seen before is the classic Abbott and Costello sketch. Both are great!
We quickly got the info, and decided to head to GZ on foot (we did consider driving, as it was late in the day and we were getting a bit foot sore). Nice walk along the stream and a quick find at a nice quiet location (we were pleased it was a public holiday, as I imagine GZ is busy at times). TFTC.

Found with StreetWalkerNZ on ANZAC day, our last full day in New Plymouth.
We have already done a NFC multi, so SW had the software on his phone. It certainly went a lot smoother than our earlier multi and soon we were trotting off to GZ where he made a quick find as I was lagging behind. TFTC.

Another target cache due to the DT rating and NFC use. I'd downloaded the app in prep for today but upon scanning got a load of gobbledegook. Messaged the CO but also downloaded and alternative app which yielded the required details. All good and headed to GZ todo the paperwork. The host is looking a little worse for wear here, rather fragile. Always good to get a Multi cache in a day out, thanks Phrominos.
Having moved down from Auckland at the start of the week, and settling into a new work routine and having a new team at work it's been quite a hectic week. So what better way to kick back and relax than embark on a 730km, 16 hour marathon Geocaching expedition to the Taranaki region. It was more about quality than quantity and I had a number of statty targets; a couple more TMGT tour caches, my final missing S39 degree minutes for the Challenge cache, a few Virtual caches, including the new fmz Monopoly one, couple of Earthcaches, and a couple more DT combos, and anything else that I passed, but without adding too much diversion onto my trip. 36 caches was the total and a pleasing selection of treats and more than doubled my current Taranaki finds total of 24 finds total. Thanks so much to all the COs for their caches, imagination and hard work and maintenance, much appreciated. When I eventually made it 'home' at 1045 PM I was ready for bed, and dashed my (foolish) plans of heading to Ohakune/National Park etc today, that will keep.

Wanted to try this as haven't used technology like this before so today the dog walk was this direction. Quick easy scan, worked like a dream and enjoyed the walk to the nicely placed final. Loved the cartoon and will likely think of this when driving past here now. Tftc
Thank you Phronimos and Juty Bug for the replacement tag, I was driving past at about 11 o'clock at night when I remembered I had a message telling me it was replaced so I doubled parked shot down scanned the tag and then today finally made the find.
All is good at GZ cache container in great shape and nice dry log,
Thanks

It would seem the first waypopint has disappeared, so disabling until I can get it replaced. Sorry
Few people around but managed to find without to much issue. Had to call for backup to get a pen. Tftc
We took an ipad and iphone to this cache, but failed to achieve anything. We geriatrics struggle with some of the new technologies.
Great fun finding this one!!! I had to make a pact with my phone and rearrange some apps, but everything worked well! Thanks for a different kind of adventure. And Who is on first, of course! TFTC!!
technology is not my strong point but gave this a try and was amazed at the ease of getting stage 2 co ords. found while waiting for washing at the local laundromat after a busy weekend at orienteering. tftc
25 January 2020 17:30. Vrey appropriate, as the rest of the family were also using nfc technology today, in the form of sport ident air dibbers. However, although they were they were moving faster than I was, a podium finish was unlikely in the extreme! I was a bit unsure about the techology, but it worked like a charm on my android phone, and i was off th the final. Tftc, have a FP for something different!
Phronimos, we didn’t find your cache today. Sorry, but it wasn’t for lack of trying though! The attached is what my iPhone X is saying! Not sure if there is anything else I can do but apparently I don’t need an APP so this is as far as we can go for now.
Thanks Phronimos for the cache. It’s #1164 for us. We found your cache on 1 January 2020. Ditched the iPhone and fired up Mrs Bunkshyde’s Android and we soon had the coords in hand. Nice walk to final.
This nice cache was searched and found together with my dad "Tango-Addi"!
Many thanks for showing this place!

P.S. sorry for the late log!

Last night we spent in New Plymouth on the camping site close to the start of this geocache.
We found it yesterday night in the map and we became interested. Might our device can work with it?
Yes - it did.
We tried and it worked better than expected. Very fast we received the final coordinates and we went towards the final container. We got it quickly and easily!
Many thanks for this experiment and experience!
TFTC says Tango-Addi!

Well, that was a learning experience! What's this gobbledegook?Turns out that Mrs D has a really dumb phone but Mr D's hand-me-down could do it... wow, it worked! Got a nice stroll thrown in. After reading the interpretive sign about all the different bridges, that explains the chunks of rock and concrete in the river - probably the "podium" was part of a previous bridge?
Whose on first? New Zealand's compassion and consolidarity in times of crisis. THEY. ARE. US.
How fast does a year go!
A bit of a mission getti g everyone up her for Mum's anniversary. Friday wasn't a good day to be leaving Chch in the evening.
Saethwr and I were coming up from Invercargill. A delayed flight meant that our 2nd flight was boarding as we landed. We weren't able to be re routed as WOMAD meant there were no as lternstive flights. We made it.
Landed in New Plymouth to the news of the events in Christchurch. That's where the rest of the family were due to fly from. Everyone on tender hooks as we got details through and wondered if the airport would also be closed. And wouldn't you know it, about the time the boarding call would have been made the announcement came through that all regional flights were cancelled. A bit of a scramble, but they got on a flight to Auckland then drive down arriving 4am. Thumbs up to the airline.
With all our personal dramas over and mum's memorial done we were able to turn out thoughts to Christchurch. Rather numbing.
Then this evening I realised that I hadn't found a cache this trip. So Saethwr and I headed to the posted coords. Luckily she has a new phone with the required technology so soon had the final coords, and no much longer until we had the cache. (Thanks for the pencil, with a borrowed car I didn't have my usual stash.)
Home for the rest of the evening before flying home tomorrow.
Thanks for the smilie Phronimos.

Finally got around to putting the technology to the test and it all went according to plan. Got the coordinates and took an enjoyable evening walk to sign the log. Thanks Phronimos.

i have had this one on my list for quite some time now and today was the day to grab it. so I found out I could use my phone for the required info and off I go to the given coordinates. arriving at GZ I immediately started looking on the wrong side of the road then soon discovered my mistake. I was caught looking in a likely place by a kind gentleman who opened a window and pointed me in the right direction obviously he knew about geocaching. this satisfies a DT for me and I know there are not many around with this combination. TFTMC
Not being a great IT expert these are always a challenge but with a little help from an expert we had the co ords in hand and i darted down today between showers and it was certainly an easy find although i wonder if a wheel chair cacher could actually reach but then i have short arms so that is not a fair judge.
many thanks for this different cache and another smiley face as well as a another D5 yeh.
a fav point from me on this one.

I wondered whether my phone was up to doing this cache. Arrived as people were beginning to head off to work and school on the crispest clear morning of the Winter so far with frost on the ground. Yep, it worked so off to do the stroll to GZ. Another well-placed cache so a favourite coming up for something quite different from the norm. Thanks again Phronimos.
Armed with all the gear we need we had to find this one whilst in NP today
Got the first part was simple but now to get to the final which is wheel chair friendly but a long way on crutches in the rain so it was into the geo mobile loaned by W R Phillips and around and around almost in circles what with one way streets etc to get to the final
Many thanks I love a challenge and this certainly was. a FP for this

Thought this would be a quick find after work and to be fair each part was. A little dark by the time I got to GZ but I don't mind night strolls.
Another dot day knocked off my list and a D5 to boot.
Cheers

Messaged Trayc.g earlier in the week to see if she needed my assistance (aka device)/to find this and she did. So we arranged to meet on a gorgeous sunny day to work this out, it was the second reader we tried in my phone that worked and so then we made our way to gz in the sunshine, quick find here as long as you are aware of the dog poop! Thanks for the dot day, the multi and a D/T I didn't already have so a great day all round
Mr Muggle is away at the moment with his phone which I needed for this hunt. So was grateful that Shellbellz let us tag along with her today. We arrived first and I spotted what we needed to scan right away. Yup it worked and we were soon on our way to the final. Thanks for teaching us a new type of tech today.
Lots and lots of Netball being played here today. I watched them for a bit to learn some new skills until Shellbellz turned up. Had a neat walk to GZ in the sun and watched a model aeroplane being flown about nearby.

Out and about today between showers, eventually managed to access the necessary info, thanks to a friend's device, and trotted off to GZ. Thanks, Phronimos, for a challenging cache. FP from me.
Nice change of pace, a techy cache. My S6 managed to read the nfc so its onto the final and a blank log so FTF and worth a fav. Cheers Peter. Mission accomplished, this one is a wrap. Thanks for the cache from Blenheim Bear!

What excitement! Sit down with a cup of coffee and check emails, and there is a brand new cache within walking distance of home! Not sure what a NFC reader was, I checked a site to see if it was compatible with my phone (the answer was yes), so I downloaded the app. Bundled the kids up (much to their dismay, they wanted pajama day), and off we went. First problem....its a Saturday morning, so muggle netballers are EVERYWHERE! But the mini cachers are great camo, so we surmounted that problem. Found the first location easily, went to use the NFC reader ... "Not supported on this device". Grrr. Then my phone told me I was out of battery, so quickly tried to download a different app...now down to 10%. Also not supported on this device. With 5% remaining, and little chance of success, we had no choice but to give in and walk home. Looks like I need to get a new phone! I'll be back!
Note, generally iPhones are NOT supported!
And while they do have NFC, for instance the iPhone 6 has NFC, it seems NFC functionality can be used by Apple Pay only, and the devices cannot read or write NFC tags. Further, it is even possible that the phones lack the necessary hardware to interface with passive tags.
This is an NTAG213 chip type fully compliant to the NFC Forum Tag 2 Type technical specification, capable of being read by an iPhone 8 and above, but in this case it’s Android all the way!
