20/9/2024 Find #7132Today I decided on a trip in to the city, in preparation for a regular occurrence. With my trial run complete, I decided I should make the most of the journey in here and perhaps find some caches - it has been my black hole for so long now. Having done quite some walking by this stage, I checked the map and decided to grab this cache which I happened to be nearby. I walked up to GZ and felt rather exposed to all the muggles driving by, but quickly realised they would be moving past so quickly they wouldnt have a moment to notice what little old me was up to. I took a seat and felt around. Grabbing and undoing the cache, I somehow managed to squeeze my name in to the very full log. Thanks for the cache Tashx.

I am down under for the very first time. Visiting Australia has always been a dream of mine, and I cannot believe it has come true. Australia's nature and wildlife really captivated me. Over three weeks, I saw many wonderful beaches, sunsets, animals such as , and I found great geocaches. My tour guide was mostly geocaching, and through it, I discovered many beautiful places I wouldnt have seen without our great hobby. I mainly stayed in Brisbane but also visited other gorgeous places such as Noosa Heads and Springbrook. I spent a few days on the Gold Coast and Moreton Island, and I went to New South Wales to have visited a second state in Australia. During my stay, the winter and early spring in Queensland were very warm, the sun shone every single day, and I did not see a single drop of rain. My time down under was so beautiful and unforgettable. Australia is such a stunning country! Two days ago, I arrived in Brisbane and today I explored the city for the second time. I really like this city and I discovered beautiful places. I also looked for many geocaches like this one. At GZ I found the cache easily. After signing the log I put the container back as found. Thank you for this geocache says Mr. J. Cacher from the other side of the world

20-Dec-23
After hospital appointments, my daughter Pinkypie05 and myself decided to do a couple of caches. This cache has been on my list to do for a long time because I wasnt sure how to get to it. I had previously tried a couple of different ways but with my daughter in her wheelchair, they became impossible. Today I tried a different way and amazingly it worked and was accessible for my daughter. I was searching in the wrong spots for quite a while but eventually sat down and spotted the tiny thing. The log book is full but squeezed our names on it. TFTC!

Semi retirement now allows me to do early morning Event through the week so today's super early start took me to Tardy Mouse Coffee with Hatzofff and RoddyC. Quite a crowd attended today then it was off to find some caches while on the Northside of Brisbane. This was a tiny wee cache and the log is FULL but we wedged our names in a few spaces on the log. Cache replaced as found.TFTC

14-Dec-23
We had an early mousy coffee event over northside, so an opportunity to organise some unfound caches.Have long been waiting to get this one. Today is the day, thanks to easy nearby parking.Log signed and cache replaced as found at 1:19 PM on December 14, 2023. TFTC, BrutalX

Interesting location. Nice views. Insert nano rant here.First Tuesday in November. The only day you can disappear from work at lunch time and arrive back four hours later after completing four caches and nobody asks where you have been. Freddo has been caching on Melbourne Cup day every year since 2004.Freddo traveled north from deep south to catch up with friendly Liz and Bruce and the RV Home base crew. I had a day in Brisbane with plenty of time to find a cache or two.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. We do apologise for the generic logs. Thanks to all the cache owner for placing this cache here for our enjoyment. Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke fr den Cache. Gracias por el cach. Sorry, I can't help with any urban legends here. But maybe I'm just not good at that... I never did find the entrance to the old steam tunnels under my university either. But the cache, it's right where you'd expect a nano to be, all good here. TFTC from Tennessee, USA

found it!!
i couldn’t get the log out of the cache so here’s a photo instead:)

31-Aug-23
The door no longer appears to be "bolted", at least from the view standing on the William Jolly Bridge looking down at it... Not sure if that's the "Mysterious Door" but hey, found it nonetheless. Easy enough to find and all without the anxiety of scaling any fences or ignoring those intimidating "NO ACCESS" signs. Lol.

24-Aug-23
We could not get it open lol

12-Aug-23
Thanks for bringing us here. This has beEn on the radar for a while. A little effort to find the right approach. Cache found, signed and returned. Thanks

Alyce and I decided to head over to Southbank after the game to have a quick wander. As we made our way over we noticed this cache on the way and had a looksy. When we arrived at GZ we spotted the likely hide and after a quick search the cache was in hand.

Thanks for bringing us here.

TFTC. The little door is the access to the old electrical room where wiring for the lights of the bridge were once. Smile

TFTC. The urban story helped haha. It should be marked as nano as you said

I am also fascinated by roads and paths that go to nowhere. This one was probably well used at one time, but city traffic now makes it obsolete. The hardest part was figuring out how to cross all the roads to get here. Once here the cache was pretty easy to find. Now I have to figure out how to get back to my car. TFTC!

26-Dec-22
Immediately spotted it with some help from the CO, thank you so much for the cache!!

18-Dec-22
We happened to walk the right way and to the right spot for an easy find. Obviously the bridge design wanted use of the door, not the practically of where all the other roads and paths go though to use the door. Lovely walk along the river caching today. TFTC

08-Dec-22
In Brisbane for a couple of days. This was a quick found. If the gate are closed or not doesn’t matter. Thanks for the cache. Regards from Sweden.

14-Jul-22
i have been wanting to find this one for ages
i always seem to end up in the wrong spot
but i have worked out what and where

well after a wonder around roma st it was time to beeline to this one ... no distractions today
nothing was going to stop me getting this today ... and yes i mean 'nothing'
if no one saw me it didn't happen ... well unless my name is in the logbook

made our way to the cache and a nice quick find

We were in town for the night whilst our daughters were off to a drag show at QPAC. We had our son with us who was on call and we parked in his office car park for the evening. As soon as I jumped out of the car I couldn’t believe our luck that there was a cache less than 30 metres away.

He thought he knew better and where it would be so took us down onto the bikeway. As the metres started climbing up we started to question whether we needed to be down here at all. In the end we went for a walk and found a few other caches before returning.

In the end we found the cache before we packed up and left which was directly across the road from his office. tftc

With limited opportunities to go caching today, I decided to stop here on the way through to somewhere else…

In the company of a muggle friend from Sydney who has heard a lot about caching, but never experienced the joy that is an hour long fruitless search for a plastic box in the bush, or crawling under a bridge or boardwalk looking for an eclipse tin…

This cache was in the first place I put my hand… if only they were all so straightforward… and I didn’t even have to trespass to find it… bonus….

Tftc…

A nice way to begin a morning walk. Man. That paper was jam packed in there. It took 10mins to get it out with cold fingers . TFTC

Found on a wet tour of the CBD before heading to the Footy.

Cheers

14-May-22
Hoojar and I were well and truly over the wet by this time but thankfully we navigated to the right spot and it didn’t take too long. TFTC!

14-May-22
I’m in town for magic round and thought we’d do some caching in between games.
On a rather wet Saturday we managed a few finds before the footy.

Dnf. Gate to the stairs is locked

14-Apr-22
Sat down and looked everywhere and all that was there was something very unsavory laying next to me on the ground.
It was certainly nano sized. Reluctantly ( it’s really something you do not want anything to do with)I unscrewed it as it would be a perfect spot for a log but there is as no scroll in it.
Surely the CO would not resort to this type of thing. It did look like it had been used too.

22-Mar-22
Today at lunch, my plan was a lunch run towards the north-west of the CBD, passing by the Barracks and Petrie Terrace. I had decided to detour past a few geocaches, including a recently published cache, and then call past the supermarket for a quick bite.

I remember seeing this cache on one of my earlier Brisbane visits whilst walking Coronation Drive walkway, and from then, I had a belief to where this cache was. I actually thought it was lower, and beneath the main roads, but this certainly wasn't the case. This was a geocache that was so close to my work, but I had been putting it off for a rainy day, but with heavy rain and disappearing geocaches that may not survive, I decided to detour past this one today.

After arriving at GZ, I did notice a swinging door (perhaps more like a gate), and as it wasn't locked, I let myself in to search the area. It appeared to be in the middle section of the strip, and after admiring the views and taking a short search for the cache (realising it was taking me further away), I retreated back to the legal footpath, and considered my next options. As others have said, I only needed a search from that position, subsequently finding the evil-sized cache. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks BrutalX/Tashx for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Unfortunately I've never seen this *Mysterious Door*, as my drives past this location where I've been looking out for some sort of bunker/tunnel entrance, I've never seen/found. There are clearly stairs descending down to Coronation Drive, but maybe the door is so illusive, that it has yet to make an appearance for me!

22-Mar-22
Quick find, you don’t have to do anything illegal to find cache

15-Mar-22
I searched & I searched. I was back & forth and up & down. In the end I resorted to a PAF to someone I have found is a genius with difficult to find nanos. He was spot on & the cache was quickly in hand. Why oh why did I not find it. Log signed, cache replaced TFTC

14-Mar-22
Must have made sense at some stage. TftC.

02-Jan-22
Sunday of a long week end is a great time to clear a few caches from the city. Plenty of close parking and no muggles.

I found the right route to get to the door and it didn't take long before my hand was on the cache.

My theory is .. Because of the construction of the bridge the door is for access to the anchor points of the spans.

TFTC Tashx

On my bike today, last day of 2021. Nice overcast day, cool breeze- time to grab a few caches. This one he me stumped, mainly due to the size. Micros always have me guessing. Read a few logs and tried to sit down and have a think and I spotted it. Nice tricky cache this one! Thanks BrutalX

07-Oct-21
I have been working in the area so during our lunch break, Dora the Explorer! and I set out to find this cache. Once at GZ, it was a quick and easy find. TFTC

This was a quick and easy find for me, must have been lucky.

On foot, couldn't work out how to get down to the lower road, looked around 2 top gates and thought I had found a spot ... but no. Ran out of time but great views

Logbook all replaced and ready to go (: X.

21-Apr-21
Hoping to get one last cache in Brisbane before heading home. I knew this one would be hard but not this hard. Checked every possible spot on both gated the fence everywhere and turned up nothing. This must be incredibly well hidden. Didn't feel like pulling anything else apart to regrettably had to leave.

21-Apr-21
I will be in to replace the logbook for this one hopefully soon. I will be in by end of the week

15-Apr-21
Why did I struggle yesterday? I overthought it, that’s why. The door goes nowhere. But a cache is close at hand - maybe the door is here for us?

15-Apr-21
Log is full. I scrawled 15/4AG in a spare spot between names

14-Apr-21
I came to find a smile but the traffic is heavy and I do my best work in peace so I’ll come back earlier tomorrow morning before rush hour to have another look.

Lunch time walk with Zapp12 and one half of Kyle and Lorissa. Targeted this one as was unfound for all of us. Spent a couple of mins looking around before Zapp12 made the find. Nice view from here too. TFTC

Great clue! Really small (nano size)

23-Feb-21
I needed a trad to continue my challenge and with a little time between classes I had enough time to race out and grab this one today.

Gees it's busy around here today but I managed to have a search without too much fuss. A feel here and a feel there and I soon had the cache in hand. I found a blank spot and signed the log, replaced the cache as found and then raced back to work.

Job done, one more off the challenge, thanks for placing this one here, an interesting spot.
