Logs

27-Oct-24
Day 4 of my fortnight+ road trip up to Brisbane and back to Blue Mountains. Definitely taking it easy for a day or two, after 2 earlier days of hardcode geocaching. Was here a couple of hours earlier and was muggled out by picnickers. All good as I better go for a virtual geocache half an hour away. Came back and it was largely deserted. After ten minutes, gotcha! Used my pen to wriggle it out. Thanks coongoola

01-Sep-24
After reading previous logs the search area was narrowed down and as luck would have it nobody about. It was a quick find. Thanks for the sneaky hide.

01-Sep-24
Very creative! Replaced as found. Thanks coongoola for placing Macksville Jetty! #1087GC7Q3D7

30-Aug-24
Very, very sneaky! I must admit there were 4 of us looking after a lovely meal at the Star Hotel. We nearly gave up. Such a great hide!

05-Aug-24
I had a look for this one before todays event with no luck. But a little hint from a friend who found it years ago, put me on the right track and I was able to find it later. Thanks for the challenging cache coongoola! Very pretty down here tonight.

04-Aug-24
This has been another cache on my to find list for so long. I had many hints but still couldnt locate this one. Today caching with Wollaston on the way to the Macksville event, I was determined to finally get this one. Had a look before the event but didnt find it, but after some further hints from previous finders we returned after the event and made the find alongside Team JLBL who had completed signing and returned the cache before we arrived. TFTC and so glad to have this one finally found.

04-Aug-24
Tftc coongoola, very sneaky you are.Dropped it but managed to retrieve. This cache was talked about at an event today Took a bit of looking , got it ,

25-Jun-24
Temporarily disabled until cache is replaced by a kind hearted fellow geocacher.

21-Jun-24
Seems this little black duck needs a hint. Can come back in the morn if CO obliges. In town for show at club

05-May-24
Found as part of a stroll around Macksville.

13-Mar-24
A short drive from Grafton to the Free camp on the other side of the river and a lovely day to walk around to the shops. All the tables were full of people enjoying the takeaway from the cafe's accross the road, luckily the jetty was clear so it was a muggle free zone. Arrived at GZ and found the tell tale not too long after, retrieved, signed log and on to the next. Fav pointTotal Caches Found 15353TFTC coongoola

14-Jan-24
I found this one, very sneaky hide. I almost gave up, but I just spotted it. I wasnt able to get it out as I didnt have an extraction tool so I couldnt write on the log.

11-Jan-24
Amazing spot while helping a friend move from Kiama. No pen unfortunately. Took a photo as proof TFTC

09-Jan-24
This is a tricky hide but one of my favourite ever!! We were staying across the bridge on our way home from Queensland!

27-Dec-23
A satisfying find! Despite plenty of muggles around, made the most of the to distract for retrieval. Enjoyed the breeze on a very warm day while we waited for our opportunity TFTC

23-Dec-23
Damn been a few tricky ones we havent been able to find recently despite having quite a few ppl likely wondering why the hell we r hanging around for so long hahha

17-Dec-23
We arrived to find muggles enjoying the afternoon sit in the picnic area. We looked but couldnt find it. We went back to the car and waited till the muggles left and then attempted again. I read previous posts and had a few hints that gave me enough information to find the sneaky bugger. Mr w found a toy lizard that he thought was the cache but no such luck. Great spot to sit end enjoy the sunset. TFTC

25-Nov-23
4 for 4 today! I love the ingenuity here. We had four sets of eyes searching until my friend said "one more minute." My eagle eyes spotted it! TFTC

10-Nov-23
Tftc. Got a hint from the co at the GIFF event. Very sneaky hide. Found with red_ear_slider

10-Nov-23
Found with Portstevo, thanks Coongoola for the hint, muggle fisherman nearby. Tftc!!

09-Nov-23
The cache eluded us on our last search. As we were staying across the water in the free camp we came for another look. This is not always an easy place to get stuck into a good hunt we've discovered, it draws muggles like a magnet. Today with rain close by it was deserted. What a difference an uninterrupted search makes, found the cache quickly today. Great hide! TFTC coongoola, FP.

24-Sep-23

14-Apr-23
No luck found it a bit hard without a hint

04-Apr-23
We are heading to Rutherglen and got the message from CO that this cache had been replaced. A good excuse to stop at Macksville again and grab a coffee along the way.
Quick find today. Coffee across the road was good too, they were closed last time we were here

26-Mar-23
Spent some considerable time here... found something that had potential but no cache attached. CO confirmed what we'd found was the likely suspect but will be down shortly to confirm. We should be back in a week or two to avenge this sad face

08-Mar-23
Too tricky for me and Coxy52

Took a while to find. We had the jetty to ourselves today due to rain. So had time to look. A very tricky and cleaver hide. Tftc

19-Jan-22
Wink The weather may have been to our favour this afternoon, misty/ rain and very cool .
No muggles about. all alone , time to search and think out off the box! Then a lightbulb moment Big Grin.. Thanks coongoola.. a FP had been added..

In the last few months my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, had an operation and had 3 weeks of radio therapy. She just finished last week. This week was the first time I've had the chance to see her because of covid lockdowns. So with fingers and toes crossed (in hope covid didn't get in the way again) I set out Tuesday morning for the 5 hour trip there. We'll, I can tell you crossing things doesn't stop anything, although it may help you hold out a little longer for a toilet. Covid did get in the way! Mid afternoon after being with my olds for a few hours I found out it was time to leave again. I decided not to go all the way home again that night, knowing I probably wouldn't get all the way home ever again if Itried. So I stopped exhausted in Macksville, because Kempsey was still closed till midnight.

I stopped here for a driver reviver on my way down and had a DNF. And let me tell you, if I didn't get some very specific hints from the CO, it would have been DNF again on the return trip. Very clever hide!

The log book was a little damp and the wind nice and blowy, so I sat and wrote this while letting it dry out. It feels quite dry now so I think it's time to head home.

Thanks so much for this cache. Of course it will get a fave point from me. I look forward to seeing you both again some time soon somewhere. I can't wait till we can have caching events again, and camping ones all the more.

TFTC Smile

I don't normally stop here headed south but needed to dodge stopping in the Kempsey LGA. So I found this lovely place to stop and stretch the legs and make a cuppa. I saw there was a cache nearby so gave it a shot. Like 5 minutes only kind of shot. I had somewhere to be and this had me beat. Haha. Another time perhaps.

18-Sep-21
Lovely hot day for caching today. No one on the jetty luckily for me, as previously there had always been people. Even more lucky I had the most recent finder with me who gave me the clue. It has survived the flood, a bit grubby and the paper was fragile but all ok to sign. Tftc

Came here late yesterday but there were a few muggles around and a guitar playing muggle sitting on the nearby steps. As we were camping just across the river we decided to come back and attempt this one early this morning.
This is a strange town for free camping with just a few spots scattered through the town.
The cache took about 10 minutes to find. Reading the logs really helped and we concentrated our search on looking for something that didn't quite make sense.
Thanks, a sneaky hide and a favourite point from us.

16-Jun-19
This was actually our second visit to look for this one. The last time we were here the place was jam packed with muggles all listening to a band which had set up on the jetty. Today there was no one around and kind of knowing how the CO's mind works it wasn't long before I had the sneaky little cache in hand. Great hide and worth a FP

05-Jun-19
After a hint from the co I came back here today and made the find. A clever cache. Thanks

14-Aug-18
This cache is in a very nice location, we sat for some time with ice creams from the nearby shop and watched the river flowing past. It was not quite as blissful looking for the cache itself, and I looked in a lot of usual places before noticing an anomaly and retrieving the container. Thanks coongoola for a very difficult hide which gave us a lot of pleasure when it was found.

15-Jul-18
Found at 2:11 PM GAFF2 - but once again reading previous logs actually misled us a bit - ie what clues/hints?
Had lunch at a scungy looking pub in Macksville, but the food was very good and not expensive at all.
We thought we were going to be in a bit of trouble here especially with a couple of elderly lady muggles sitting in the nearby picnic table, however c-pprass took note of the T rating and spotted something that intrigued her and to her surprise pulled out the cache [^] How good is that for a really well crafted and placed cache which is in a fantastic location.
Thanks coongoola.

30-Jun-18

Such a tricky and clever hide. We were searching here, searching there, and were quite flumoxed until DiamonJs had a light bulb moment after reading the hint and had the cache in hand then in no time. Well, a little time. Cool hide coongoola! Thanks for adding to the enjoyment of our day.
Cheers and happy caching!

Stuarts Point Day2
Today's main event was lunch at the Buffalo farm, but still plenty of time to do some caching around Macksville before the event.
This was by far the most difficult find of the day. The material used blended so well with its surrounds. It was lucky that the CO gave us a hint into what area to look. FP given
Thanks for placing this cache coongoola

Too good a hide, too many muggles, too little time and too much cache blindness all collided to award us the blue face of despair. tftc.

24-May-18
Yay a FTF on a sunny morning walk before work. Very clever hide Coongoola, you beat me to the punchline just like you did with the Clybucca Memorial.

Good to see some other caches in the area other than my own. At least I don’t have to go too far from home to find this cache.

I used to live abt 30 metres away from the cache abt two years ago.

Fav point for location. It’s stunning in the morning.
