As I work here I thought Id better sort this one out. Luckily I knew where all the locations were so I could grab the info quickly. The final coords had me a few metres out so I walked around a little to let the satellites catch up to me and finally the compass pointed me to something more likely. Excellent camo, although it was soaked when I retrieved it. With the signing duties completed I headed back up to street level to meet my tour group.
Was working today in one of the 'workshop' offices. When I asked someone there about the history of the building, she said 'office'. I was highly suspisious of that so went for a hunt after work. Perfect combo with this multi! Could not find all answers on site but together with Google and the checksum was able to work out GZ. Hmm, now what. Kept thinking about options and eventually ... ah, of course, bingo!Very nice multi at this historic site, tftc & fp!
TFTC real nice camo but needs a checkup because of rust and it has come loose of the camo
We enjoyed walking around this site and searching for the answers. We even learned something. Unfortunately, we couldn't find one particular answer. However, there was a checksum, provided we had everything else correct. As it turns out we must have, as Sue made a reasonably quick find of this well hidden cache. Very accurate coords! Actually, Sue often makes the find when there is a tricky hide. Makes me wonder why she still hasn't found where I hide me grog at home. TFTC Morty8888
I had read logs and thought about this at home after the last DNF and had a theory. On return this time the theory was proved.TFTC
I was trying to remedy two DNFs from August but the nearby park cache is now enclosed by construction fencing and after rechecking all of the numbers I got the same GZ for this one but again no luck. The signal seemed to wander like last time. However on arriving home I have reread many logs, viewed the fotos and remembered something I noticed today and may have better luck on a return visit in the future.
Found, with shaneo58. We came down from Newcastle on the train, After checking with the CO, I got the right answer, with was close to the second spot we looked at last time, The hint made sense this time.Signed log and Cache replaced as found.**Thanks For The Cache** Morty8888.This makes the 5th cache of 8 for today making a grand total of 4270 at 11:39AM on this Thursday the 2nd of November in the Year 2023
Tried doing this cache last week with BillHill531 but didn't know if we had the right spot. Did some rearranging with the numbers and got the OK from the checker but ran out of time. Back today to get a smiley TFTC Morty8888
DNF for this one, trying to do some caches around North Sydney, came down from Newcastle on the train WE mis read the hind and mainly looked in the wrong place, We looked at all the likely spots you would/could hide a cache around near GZ, also looked at previous logs for any hints. . Morty8888. Attempted to find this at 11:29AM on this Thursday the 19th of October in the year 2023
Tftc! I spent almost 20 years in the Submarine Arm. It was somewhat surreal returning here, but I love what they have done with the place. A top cache location and an excellent hide.
Sydney Day 8: North Sydney and Kirribilli
It’s the final day in Sydney, and with the flight later in the morning, it was an early day out for me just to clear up some of the last couple of caches on the to-so list, particularly the one at Sub Base Platypus because it was an interesting location. So, a very early ferry right across the harbour for me, which ran straight into a thunderstorm. Braved the weather for my final caches of the trip and made good of the mission, despite returning to the hotel drenched for breakfast.
(End of the cut and paste bit)
This was the main goal of the morning, and I was glad to make it here just as the gates were opened. Picked up most of the clues I needed to secure the coordinates, and trudged over to the final. I had an inkling what was going on here, and that helped me figure out where the cache could be, and indeed my suspicions were spot on. It’s still an excellent hide though, and well engineered for the location.
I really love how adaptive reuse of old buildings and sites in Sydney have become more and more common, and this is yet another great example of turning a historical place into something worth visiting. Thanks for showing and here’s an FP for the nice cache! TFTC!

I’m visiting from Brisbane for a few days with today being my last day and unfortunately a very wet and cold one too.
I walked from North Sydney and found all of the information fairly easily and worked out gz. After looking in one place, then checking my numbers, I noticed the very clever cache container. Being a wet day, not many people were walking around but plenty in the nearby offices. I hope I didn’t look too suspicious. My first time here. Tftc

A good find and straight forward solve and inventive container. A FO for bringing me to this cool spot thanks for the cache Morty 8888
A great multi cache in a great location! No problems with any of the stages so soon we had a pair of coordinates which matched the checksum. At GZ it was a quick find of a cool piece of camouflage. TFTC, Morty8888. An FP for this location and cache.
Sneaky hide at GZ! So sneaky I went back and double checked all my numbers. But persevered and eventually had CIH. TFTC!!
I'd been here a few nights ago and found most of the details. The site is now open until 9pm.
I worked and lived across the bay years ago and there were often 1 or 2 big black subs moored at the wharf. Above were the gasometers that have forced cyanide into the bedrock giving the cliff faces their blue stains.
With numbers assembled I checked a couple of spots before noticing the clever hide. It was quite wet inside but the submarine-grade log was still usable. I dried it but most containers suck water in when cold. Nice to see some of the industrial history retained and repurposed. Thanks Morty8888.

Thoroughly enjoyed our walk around here and finding the information. The cache was full of water but the log was still able to be written on. SL TFTCM
Solved this while ago but when I got to GZ I didn't find anything. I was still a newbie back then to geocaching but after confirming with the CO I was in the right spot, I was in the area today and went back for a quick find this time. Ah how experience pays off. Glad to solve this and FP for this will disguised cache. Thanks again.
Checked on this and have adjusted the required information required due to the changing site. Cache is still at GZ and ready to be found!
After coming to this location previously, my geobuddy at the time, had had enough and wanted to head home. I was keen to explore this place more and give this multi a crack today. There was a work christmas function on in the fleet workshop when I got there, but other than that it was pretty deserted. Think I solved but GZ seemed a very open area and no cache in sight.
Great multi cache! Love the container, favourite point for that. We’ve never been walking in this place before and always wondered what it was. TFTC
Wow! Reminds me of a cache I really liked in Balmain that has now been disabled! My first favourite!
TFTC awesome last location!!

Was hoping for four finds today, but only got three. A multi that should have been accessable until 5pm wasn't, so I had to put that one on hold. Still any day I can get a few multis is a god one.
###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###
I had to guess I had the right thing at one waypoint, and tipped out rusty water at a well camoed GZ, but still a good multi.
But so many stairs down...

Great fun. Never knew this place existed. Found four numbers fine. First two guesses at remaining numbers put me in the water. Third guess had very nicely camouflaged cache in hand. Favorite point. SL. TFTC.
I’ve been eyeing this cache for a while now, but it’s inaccessibility at night, when I’m mainly caching, and the prospect of a bunch of walking had turned me to other quarry.
This afternoon presented me with an opportunity to invest in this hunt, and how glad I am I did.
This is caching at its best.
Challenging, exploration, and a custom hide that immediately had me inspired to steal the idea.
I trudged around the sub base, struggling with a couple of the details, eventually realising going above and beyond was necessary.
Once the details were collected, and the checksum fitted, I finally made my way to the GZ.
The hide is beautifully blended into the environment, top notch construction.
Signed and replaced in between passing muggles.
A favourite point is richly deserved here.
A stunning location at sunset, fascinating history, and a fabulous custom container.
Thanks so much for this one Morty8888.

What an awesome place full of Naval history! Never served here during my military service but worked with a lot of submariners. Nice walk around the precinct looking for answers and reflecting on the history with geobuddies Chippyddd and BennyDaMole. Eventually made our way back to a certain location to unravel the mystery of the cache. After gathering information soon plotted our course to GZ. Excellent hint and hide. Retrieved cache with minimal effort but had a little difficulty opening. Eventually managed to open cache and sign log. No room for swaps or drops. Cache and log book are dry. SL TFTH TFTC. Replaced cache as found ready for the next adventurer. Thanks and cache on. Favourite point awarded.
Found along with Mystic Seer and Chippyddd. Had difficulty opening the cache, but got there in the end without damaging it. Cheers!
3 skimmers found this sneaky hiden Sub, ICW Mystic Seer and Bennidamole. TFTC, TFTH SL TNLN. Cheers Morty8888 for this, now a favourite cache. Well done. [:<{)]
I'm spending today on and around Sydney Harbour chasing caches that are located close to ferry wharves. After rides on the F2, F3, F6 and F8 routes, it was time to take the F5 service to North Sydney and Neutral Bay.
This one took me to an interesting place ... I've long known about HMAS Platypus but I had no idea that it was more than a place to park the subs when they weren't at sea. It will be worth a return visit if the Federation Trust ever completes the restoration work and brings the sub base alive again.
As for the multi, I was expecting to find the required answers close to the posted coords ... little did I know that I would have to walk the whole site and then take matters to an even higher level in order to get all the answers. But luck was with me and the numbers I ended up with added up to the checksum total. So it was off the GZ where I spotted the very well camoed hide fairly quickly.
Congrats on your construction work Morty and thanks for bringing me to this historic site.

There were a number of the clues that I just could not find, such as the steps, so needed to resort to a PAF for help.
A fabulous and fantastic place to visit. Nice to pick up an urban multi.

First signature on the new log! Lucky this was enabled while we were in the area! Its a great spot! Tftc
Came from Anderson Park as it was a pleasant day to roam the backstreets. Not frequently in this part of North Sydney (is that what suburb this area falls under), so never knew this area existed.
As it's part of the new Manly to Bondi walk, seemed there were a few more people than normal out on the path but that wasn't an issue. Collected a few pieces of info (the groundskeeper was eyeing us a bit so we went down to find Gazebos and Gum Blossoms). Returned and grabbed the last info... checksum made sense and went to GZ.
Thought we were going to have to chalk this up to a DNF but then Baby J Man spotted something amiss, but it wasn't the cache. Motivated by this 'near find' we looked a bit further and Baby J Man spotted the sneaky cache.
Really like this one - great location, great hide and learned a lot of new stuff

Took a while to hunt down all the numbers but got there in the end. Nice opportunity to finally have a bit of a look at the Sub base for the first time.
Scratched my head at GZ and wondered if my coords were correct but eventually spotted the clever hide. TFTC and for bringing me to this interesting place. FP awarded

You know how it is, it's coming into silly season and no work is reeaaalllly getting done on a Friday arvo, so a quick wander and grab was on the cards. Thought I was in the totally wrong place until I spotted something. Tftc
Found, after a tour of the site as part of Sydney Open. (Well I did the maths and it was spotted by my muggle wife). Great hide. Great location.
This one had us a bit puzzled for a while but eventually found it. Love to hide. TFTC
Out for a lunch time walk so spotted this one we hadn’t found so headed over.
A nice spot and bit of history with a hide that was more than D1.5 itself so with the finding and answering of the questions I would suggest having a higher D level to give this nice cache some more cred. TFTC.

Out with my boys on Father’s Day and set out for this great multi in an awesome location on the harbour. Had a great time exploring to track down the coordinates and finished with a very clever hide out in the open. Just sorry I forgot a pen. TFTC
How great is this place!! And today for many reasons. A crisp, shiny winter morning with hardly anyone else around ... except for the construction workers on Phase 2. The park is magic - history, beauty and fun all in one. I saw three harbour cruise tour boats and a ferry while I was here. I targeted this cache for two numerical reasons. It seals my Topaz for the Museum Mystery and it’s our 4,000th find!! Then I found the container. Excellent. It was a bit hard to open, the cover is pretty tight. And it was a great concealed, open hide. So how can it not get a favourite point from us?! SL TFTC Cheers... Gaztek
This was awesome. Great new park with lots to explore. History. Water views. Even saw a lady walking her cat. What more could you want from a multi? FP from me and a big and hearty TFTC!
This is an excellent multi with a great finale. We'd never visited this place before, it's so interesting. We must remember to return for another look as the precinct develops.
Thanks Morty8888, it has to have a favourite point.

Well that was an enjoyable time. If we could we would give a favourite point for the puzzle and another one for the final cache location. Thanks for the cache.
Wasn't quite sure if I get this one done over lunch but decided to give it a shot. Jumped on a train at Town Hall and off at Milsons Pt then down to Platypus. Loving anything nautical I really enjoyed the visit. Took in all the sights, and grabbed the cords for the mulit without too much trouble, one required a bit of hunting around and another I couldn't find but the check sum had me sorted. Not long after I had the CIH, what a clever hide! Definitely worthy of a fav point. All done then back to work, round trip (including take away Orporto) 75mins, perfect! TFTC Morty8888. #775

Since my temporary Sydney home is located at nearby Kurraba point (I can even see the Sub Base from my window) this multi was an absolute must-do cache for me. On a little morning strol to Kirribilli ferry station I gathered all the necessary information and found the well-hidden cache box. This is a picture-perfect multi. It provides you with interesting background information, forces you to check out the area from close by, and then rewards you with an interestingly hidden box. What more could a geocacher ask for. With pleasure I award this multi another favourite. Thanks Morty8888 for yet another well done geocache! You have a great talent for hiding creative caches.
Enjoyed visiting the base and learning a bit about its history. Even though they've only completed stage 1, the area is looking good! Very nice camo fitting with the area. Totally worthy of a favourite! TFTC!
The steps are not dark green, I think they have faded but we got there anyway.

Looking for a cache today to keep my streak going I decided to play tennis this morning and keep close to home and come over here this afternoon.
Good choice as it was really hot this afternoon and the breeze off the water was lovely.
Not everyone that works here knows the public can enter the site. I was initially chased away by a worker who said it was Government Land and there was no public access, even when I showed him the sign. A bit of a walk around and a wait and he disappeared and I walked in.
The last time I was here this site was not open to the public, but I have been here before, years and years ago. You see when at high school the father of one of my friends was the Commodore here. They did not live on site but you could see their home, but not today, there's too many trees around the bay. He then became Commodore on Garden Island and they lived on site there. A fantastic place to visit as a teenager!
Today I walked around and met a muggle taking his new puppy, TimTam on its first public outing. I gathered most of the information but could not find anything to match point C, but the checksum helped.
Once at GZ I found the cache quickly. SL, visited someTBs then sat and enjoyed the view and the sea breeze.

Companions: None
Muggles: A few
Weather: Cool winter afternoon
Cache condition: Good
I first tried to find this cache a few months ago, but ran out of time to actually find the cache - I had determined co-ordinates, but the gates close at 5pm in winter and I was shown the way out by the "guard" before I had a chance to search for the container.
Today I was finishing up with my role, in preparation for a new role next week, so finished up early. I caught the train up to Milson's Point then walked down to this familiar place. I had retained the details from my previous visit, but decided I had better check each of the details, which was useful as I discovered I was slightly out with the co-ordinates for GZ. I waited for some muggles to pass before making a quick find - nice hide! TNLNSL, then headed back up the stairs. Thanks for the cache.

I wanted to attend the GeoWedding Flashmob and decided to do a few more caches around the Kirribilli area. Kirribilli is a beautiful historic part of town with great view over our beautiful harbour.
After I picked up my geo-buddy from North Sydney station we walked together to the Submarine Base. At the top of the cliff we took the steps down and my geo-buddy commented that geocaching really takes me to strange places as she never knew this place existed!
We collected all the answer and then it was a search for the cache. We looked at the obvious spots but no luck. Then I randomly started touching things and much to my surprise I suddenly had CIH. It reminded my of a periscope!

We were in the area today. So came along to formally log the find. We had a good wander around taking in all the history. Geogirl was most impressed - playground, submarine base, torpedo factory (her words) and whaling station all in one. Well constructed cache. Gets a favorite point from us. Thanks for bringing us here.

Down I went for a little bit of exploring the interesting site collecting information.
Tried the obvious spot. Nope. Went over the edge. Nope. Then I spot something clever than that, twice!!! Well made.
But, no pen!!! So back up 72 stairs. Back down 72 stairs. Sign the log and back up again!?!

This was our one and only cache for today, and it was a beauty. Had seen the sub base's public opening on the evening news a few months back, so was interested in a visit someday, but then this Multi-cache appeared which hurried along our visitation plans.
And so today we all piled into the geomobile and headed over to Neutral Bay, parking at the end of High Street in one of the many 2 hour parking slots that are provided, then walked down to the sub base's entryway. Followed the walkway around to the published coords, collecting some of the required information as we strolled along, ending up at the very impressive submarine themed playground. The sub base was totally deserted today, so we had the entire place to ourselves, which made gathering the required info an easy & enjoyable task. Sat down on the play equipment to do the computations then, with the GPSr loaded with the new coords, it was off to final GZ to see what we could find.
Arrived at final GZ and made a quick find of the very nicely camoed cache container, which blends in really well with it's surroundings. Signed the log sheet, then replaced everything exactly as we had found it.
Thanks Morty8888 for hurrying along our visit to this interesting place, and for the very well organised & presented cache for us to find today. Definitely a Favourite point from us, and will return when more stages are completed.

What a cool hide! Thanks for bringing us to this wonderful place. I was amazed to see how much evidence of the gasworks there still was. It will be amazing when the site is fully open.
What a cool spot, and a nicely constructed cache. Came down here at lunch time given that the weather had changed for the better after the last few miserable days. Found the required information and did a quick check. Yep - that was the cache. Saving this one to log for another day when we need a calendar find or something else.
6 finds this afternoon and obviously my pick would be this.
Collected 5 around Neutral Bay before heading to Platypus.
My arm vibrates as I walked down the steps as I’d reached my daily step goal.
No issues in locating any of the required info, pushed in the new set of coords and a short walk to GZ.
My goodness, am I right? Oh, there it is, oh that is soooo cool, fav Point , thanks Monty8888

Took all day to get here but it was worth it. What a great spot. Great fun wandering around, gathering information to complete the multi, and ultimately finding the cache. Loved the very sneaky hide. Favourite point given. TFTC Morty8888

It's been a long time coming for morty8888's second home made cache but well worth the wait. I think he has outdone his previous one with this fun cache and very clever hide. The carpark wasn't open this afternoon but frazeydaze snared a park near the entrance and we were away down the stairs, soon counting, subtracting and dividing this and that and it was a big sigh of relief when we agreed with the ckecksum. Once at GZ the head scratching began. We checked this and that without any luck and it wasn't until frazeydaze sat down to read some previous logs that we both had an simultaneous light bulb moment and it was CIH. After SL it was back to the car where I realised that I had left my phone charging gear some where back at the site. Fortunately it was found quickly, but I really didn't need to climb those stairs twice at the end of a days caching. Thanks for the fun cache morty and I look forward to the next one. Also a well earned fav point from me.
Wow I am running out of Fps fast this week, what a brilliant cache. Not your typical multi, it really encourages you to explore. The location is a new hidden history gem and the final is tops with decent effort put in. Got the coords in about 15 minutes (bike helped) and not a sole around. Cheers Morty, great work!
What a great cache. Love the area and love the fact you are not 100% sure where to start. Fun to walk round the whole site and great to see the final cache hiding place had some thought put into it. Defiantly a Fav point for us.
What a great spot, forgot my pen, always hard when you are counting items and so on.
Awesome cache, great camo
Sent photo of log as I had no pen
Thanks for the cache

Used to look in wonder from the ferry at all the goings on at Platypus with up to 3 subs double parked. Nearing its close had an open day wander one Father's Day. Loved going back today. It is a great start and will be fine location when finished.

Caching buddies: EverestHigh, Brewmaker and The Bebes
Very clever container
WPs are spread out and we did have to retrace steps a couple of times but we made it
I put my hand on it but stepped away for Bebes and Brew to find it

A great place to visit late in the arvo. We grabbed the info after finding all the appropriate displays. Some were harder than others to locate, but we soon had GZ. Checked a few palces until EH saw the sub. Good piece of camo. Enjoyed this multi. TFTC
Loved this multi ! A great location with plenty of history.
We dashed around grabbing the required info but our calculated coords didn’t look good.....a couple of corrections and we were off to GZ.
There we discovered a very well hidden cache.
A fav point from me, this is a great multi.

Lots of data to be gathered to find this submerged torpedo. Great view. Worth an FP. TFTC Morty8888
Delightful to find there was a new cache so close by, and with such an interesting history. I had no idea. And I've never been here before.
I was merrily collecting clues, while watching a very large gentleman walking up and down, holding a phone. Another geocacher??? Eventually he approached me, rather misty eyed, and asked if I'd take some photos of him against various backgrounds. Apparently he used to work here, before transferring overseas - and this was his first revisit. So I got some extras in the history department.
He was interested in what I was doing, so I gave him Geocaching 101..... Told him also that I myself had a hide not that far away (Kesterton Park) and he wanted to know how that worked. I explained, then told him where I'd probably place this geocache.
We parted company, and I gathered the remaining information - with the help of a five year old borrowed from his grandparents, who wished to help me count steps!! More new converts!!
Finally, I did the sums and headed to GZ - spot on .. Of course then came some serious investigation. What a great morning's adventure!!
Thank you, Morty8888. Love these snippets of our history. Favourite point.

Came here after the new cache in Mosman. As we started to gather the necessary information we noticed a couple suspicious looking people walking the other direction. As it turns out it was Frazelle and ash_kate. We continued on to be 2tfs. TFTC TNLNSL

{FTF} with Ash.Kate on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Happy to be here when notification went off so a small detour to make the find. Nice little multi which we enjoyed as was fun. Giving a fav as we really enjoyed the info and location. Great camo TFTC
Joint FTF with frazelle. Luckily we were nearby today when this notification happened. Quick guys lets go! Off we went, what a great location I never knew this existed. A couple of hiccups along the way quickly amended. Great container and placement as well as a really enjoyable multi. Fave point from me too. Tftc morty
