Out in the Corin area for a cache or two. This was one of them. TFTC

11-Nov-24
I recomend to park and then just walk around checking stumps, rather than ging for the coords.Quick find along the road from the dam on the way back I had some time for the just one more game. Mostly pleasent and quick finds, but a couple where tricky and took a little while to spot. All in good order here. A nice and beautiful drive indeed. The afternoon: Having to go back to Corin Resourt to pick up some items we had left behind a few weeks back, I took the opportunity to do some more caching at the end of Corin Road, that I had eyed off ever since we moved back here. We were last here with the small kids in Oct 2011 doing some caches closer to the road but leaving the walk down to the Core be. Lots of new caches at the dam since then and the old caches at the bottom still waiting. Two wonderful walks, one was an hour, 2km, to the Crown and Trig and another down to the bottom and then up to Basil for another good hour and 3km (and some higher heart rates indeed) Thank you ALL7 for putting the cache out and maintaining it and in doing so contributing to this awesome hobby of ours.

Gotcha! This was one of the main targets on Baristayan's list today after a semi-recent DNF, and a log suggesting the coords were a bit out. I'll say this now, and I suspect a bit later also, but Yani's geo-senses were on FIRE out here today. She honed in on ground zero while I was off faffing about in the wrong spot, and shouted 'here it is' in record time. She then gave the cache a bit of TLC before signing for us both. Thanks!

19-May-24
This was a magnificent find!I walked right into the correct stump (which is rotting away a bit) and kicked it gently to get some of the bark away only to find the cache straight away Coords are a bit off for this one but hope the pic, without spoiling anything, gives some indication of the right direction.Cache was full of water but we dried w tissues and the dry log made it back inGlad to give some love to such a lonely cache

26-Jan-24
This was the second cache that I didn't find today. There were three stumps and I checked all of them; they were all rotting and there was no sign of a geocache. But there were lots of butterflies!* * * * * * *Having started the day with a breakfast event to meet local geocachers, I headed back towards Corin Dam to collect a string of unloved geocaches. I had visited Corin Dam last weekend, planning to pick up a few geocaches, but had not got the map thing happening properly. I was more diligent in making sure that I knew which dam was which this weekend! Knowing that there would be no reception, I had a list planned. This was my first big day of geocaching since relocating to Canberra from Melbourne last week. I'm looking forward to a lot more of these! Thanks for the cache, ALL7

Today was really beautiful weather so it was decided to go for a beautiful country drive with ilook4geo. We chose this series for its beautiful views and we were not disappointed. We found most of the caches listed with just a few that we missed. Thanks go to ALL7 for putting out this series of caches.

Out for a day's caching with goingplaces2 and enjoyed all the caches we found. Log signed and replaced as found. TFTC.

Bit of a climb and searching various stumps. Container is in good condition - but the log is damp. Thanks for this great series ALL7!

12-Apr-21
After a short scramble I was still scratching my head as to which stump held the cache, in the end I looked at all of them to find the cache.

23-Sep-20
This was a straightforward find - thanks!

04-Jun-20
I headed out after work to reach my caches per day target for today. It is one of my days with the least number of finds from the last 15 years. I started with a few puzzles recently solved (usually with a bit of a push in the right direction) and then moved onto the Beautiful View caches along Corin Dam road, starting from where it is closed by the ski field. I was a bit surprised at how little damage had been caused by the fires along here. Thanks to Liz&Bruce for replacing a few of these caches.

Thanks for the cache ALL7

I've already found five caches today. I'm off on a drive bymyself to soothe my soul after a fairly hectic day. It's wonderful up here today. It's reasonably late in the day, but nowhere near dusk. The light is brilliant, I enjoyed the road and the drive, and I grabbed the last 16 caches in this series. It was great fun.

This one was quite easy. Lovely spot just here.

Find no 2 of 16 for this series today.

Thanks, ALL7

Out and about on another lovely day for a geomission to nab more ALL7 caches and a few other randoms along the roads to Tidbinbilla Smile

All caches were quick finds apart from a couple of tricky ones and a couple of DNFs. Really enjoyed the drive and the wanders around this beautiful area!

Thanks for the cache and the series, ALL7 Cool

Attending the Clear Water 2019 mega this Easter in Queanbeyan. Apologies for the generic log but we have found too many to compose individual logs. Many thanks to all the cache owners for their caches, which have been exceptional in their maintenance I have had only 1 dnf and that was only because I was not going to make a tree climb without seeing where the cache was. The vast majority of caches have had very good coordinates. Along with useful hints. TFTC

Looked nice outside today, time for a bit of caching. Have previously found a few out this way, time to smiley up the place even more and add a few new(ish) ALL7 trail caches and a mixed splattering of others to the ever increasing total.

In the end found 40 from 40 for the day, not too bad an effort. Some of the trail caches were damp, one or two wet and soggy. Where possible (if I remembered to note it), it will be mentioned in the log, along with anything else I might have found interesting.

Thanks to everyone for the effort in placing and maintaining. A special occasion as well, somewhere today will hopefully be my 400th Tankengine find!!

This was the only one which eluded us this afternoon. There were a number of options but no obvious one, so after about 10 minutes unsuccessful hunting we moved on to the next.

11-Aug-18
With a clear weekend around I could no longer stay indoors so have decided to take a drive. Of cause the weather totally changed.

No luck with this one. My GPS settled on the same spot a few times but maybe I'm looking the wrong direction or it's too dull to be seen in the failing light. Either way no love today.
Note don't try to climb up the steep sides in the wet. I know this should be common sense but hey, I tried it. lol Least it was fun.

Can I just say "Ditto" to all SDL and LL's logs? haha

#8457 - 12:30; Received a shout from No_Tomorrow to say she would be in the National Capital and was after some partners in crime for some caching while she was here. A plan was hatched with Sol de lune to tackle a couple of the new series starting at Point Hut Road and heading towards Tharwa and then on towards Corin Dam, picking up a few others along the way. I picked up the other members of the team and we headed off on what proved to be some great weather for caching, unlike a couple of days back when the mission was initially planned to take place, even though there was still snow on the ground in Corin Forest. Managed to collect 73 from 73 today, including a couple I had on my 'solved but unfound' puzzles list, without a single DNF, not bad for a few hours out, and a good time was had by all. TFTC ALL7 Smile

09-Aug-18
Out with No_Tomorrow, who was in town from Dubbo, and Luckyl10n to grab a few caches to add to our smiley list, and also get the number of unfound local caches down to a manageable amount.

70 caches in the day was a good return for the few hours we spent out. Great winters day and we found everything we went out for.

No problems here and the cache was soon in hand.

Thanks ALL7....

3rd find while out with Goldenwattle and Decrypter to do some caching in the snow. Most of these were quick finds, some however took a little searching with our GPSs not settling down. Some were even found with snow over them. TFTC.

08-Aug-18
I had heard there might be snow out this direction, and I have a trackable that wants to visit winters, so decided this was a good place to go caching, and the TB did get its photograph taken in snow. Trodectus and Decrypter joined me. Decrypter noted this cache was about ten metres out. TFTC ALL7.

I couldn't get my daily dose of fresh air at work this morning, so took a drive up the lower Corin Road to finish off the Beautiful Views series. Pretty chilly in town clothes and snowing at #44 where I finished. This one took me a little longer - there used to be 4 stumps, now 1 + 3 remnants. My GPSr was 8m out. Thanks for the series, TFTC.

**FIND #42 OF 200**

Well, the day is here! A day I had planned for quite some time. 200 finds in one day with Loci612. We started out just after 6am, in absolutely freezing temperatures given it had been -7 degrees overnight. With a very tight plan for the caches today, we headed out to find our first cache at 6:38am. From then on, it was a very tidy stream of finds. We hit a hurdle with Paddy's Pass but eventually made the find. After that, all the finds were relatively easy until the section of ALL7 caches heading south along Tidbinbilla Road. A few of these caches caused us some strife but we eventually found all of them.

After driving all morning finding caches, it was nice to get out and stretch our legs with DARKSIDEDAN and joeylovestreasure's Vampire Trail. Some enjoyable finds out there! After that we headed out to Burra to pick up the new ALL7 caches along the roads out there. A lot of nice and quick park and grabs and our first DNF of the day, on Burra #24. A few caches in and around Michelago and then we were off to Old Cooma Road for the last couple of caches for the day. I found I was one short at the end of it all so we swung by a quick cache in Fadden to make 200 finds for the day!

Lots of ALL7 caches for the day and a few other ones thrown in the mix. All logs were signed CL or LC with the date 12/7. Thanks to all the COs who placed caches that we found today!

**Cache #43 of 200 for the day! Big Grin**

A while ago Cankid came up with a crazy plan of attempting to find 200 caches in a single day with the help of the recently published trails by ALL7 and lots of extra's thrown in along the way. I said I was in and a plan was hatched!

The day started at 5:30am when I drove down south to meet up with Cankid, and we soon headed off soon afterwards, picking up cache #1 at **6:38am!** The temperatures started off below 0°C for the first couple of hours and we struggled to open the containers and sign the logs with numb hands. The day soon warmed up however and the layers were taken off and we powered through all the caches on our pre planned list!

Cache #100 was then found at **12:37pm** almost exactly 6 hours after we started and halfway through our goal.

Cache #150 came at **2:57pm**, we had only rested for about 15 minutes by this point to have some lunch!

We were soon very close to the target but the last couple of caches were slower ones back in Canberra just to finish off the powertrails with something more interesting. By the time we were all finished up it was **6:51pm**, not a bad effort considering and just over the 12 hour mark! It was certainly a long day!

P.S Sorry for the generic logs, but 200 caches was a lot to take in! All the ones I remember have extra comments down the bottom

---

*We signed the log either **C.L or L.C with the date 12/7**, for Loci612 and Cankid. We had a miscommunication and depending who signed the log put a different letter first Razz*

Plans were made to head out with Rapidlywild to pick up a few of the newly published caches that came out while we were away. Suffering from caching burn out the Hidden Creatures event made it a little more enticing. Weather wasn't too bad for winter so we decided to start today.

Sorry for the copy and paste logs, but all caches were found quickly except for 2 that we logged DNF's against.

Thanks for all the cache hides ALL7 you have been busy and thanks Rapidlywild for driving and a fun day.

Its been quite a while since I have been out for a big geocaching day and today was a good one. Made plans with FFLL#1 to head out towards Corin to make some finds towards the Hidden Creatures event and today was the first geo-expedition for the new Triton. Had a wonderful day with FFLL#1, found some puddles to mess up the white Triton and even seen some of the snow up at Corin.

Apologies for the copy/paste logs, all caches were found relatively quickly, and I think we ended the day with 2 DNFs (One which we attempted to find on 2 different occassions).

Thanks for the cache hide ALL7 and thanks FFLL#1 for an awesome day Big Grin

With dty73 doing traffic patrol this made for a quick find. Kutgw

The aim for the day was to find the Corin Core Cache at Corin Dam with JohnnyBoyACT at 3 pm. There are a lot of new caches on the way to the dam. The missus and I set out at 10 am and did a drive by for lots of inds, actually I did the driving and the missus walked most of the way. She was nearly as quick as me in the car and when I had a bit of trouble finding a few, got well ahead at times. TFTCs.

We have been a little side tracted lately and not been out in the wild caching. Been watching how many new caches have been published and we needed to get out and have some fun.
We set out early while it was still dark, bagged a swag of caches and finished in the dark, we made most of the day.
We invited Wilbert67 to join us and it turned out a great day out.
It felt like we had 4 seasons in one today, the temperature fluctuated, wind, snow and sunshine, the caches there were many variables in types and hides.
Thank you to all the COs for their effort on placements and to add to our enjoyment and Wilbert for your company.

16-Jun-18
A great long day of caching that had everything in it. From city to country, from high to low, from warm to cold. We managed to knock off quite a bit of trails, drive trip, beautiful views and vampire series being the main ones. In between a few very nice single traditionals. Loved driving around this part of Namadgi and seeing snow today was great. Thanks to all the cache owners for putting the caches out, the quality was surprisingly good! Thanks to J+J.AU for taking me along today.

An overcast/sunny day heading for two Tankengine caches (a multi & a trad up on the hill at Corin Dam including Fizty's tank). Having time to spare we also picked up some of the Beautiful View series. A favourite point on BV 37 for those found today from this series.

Quick and easy find. Thx p2p. TFTC ALL7.

Day out in the ACT to get as many of the ALL7 power trail caches that I could collect in an afternoon. Ended up with about 60. Very scenic countryside to cache in. The odd dnf along the way, only spending a minute or two at gz, before moving on. A very pleasant day out. Thanks for the wonderful cache series, will be back to see and get more. Tftc

fitzy_1965 and I had a free weekend so we decided to camp at the Cotter for a couple of nights and cache our way around Canberra and surrounds. We met up with Darzee Di and headed off for the rest of the day collecting all the new All7 caches published since Monday.

All caches were found quickly and easily and lots of great conversation was had.

15,917. With a free weekend up our sleeves it was time for minniek and I to go camping at the Cotter and caching all around the ACT.

After attending the HMAS Payback CITO we headed south to try for the newer Beautiful View and other ALL7 caches. Darzee Di joined us for a fun days caching. Unless otherwise mentioned these were all nice and quick finds. This one was found during a lovely drive out along Corin Road - we even saw a bit of snow ! Signed the log, replaced the cache, and we headed off to the next one.

Thanks ALL7 !! We certainly appreciate ALL these new caches here in Canberra !

[FTF] Woohoo, I was sitting talking to my mum at her house in Conder when this cache FTF popped up in my emails. I jumped in the car and headed out to get them all knowing that I was one of the closest geocachers in Canberra to them. I called Lisa and made arrangements to meet her on the way to the caches. Paring my car at Point Hut I jumped into Lisa's car and we were off. When we got to the first cache we found it fast and were pleased NOT to see a tankengine or ZQX or any other well known geocacher name in the logbook. It was new and unsigned. Fantastic we continued on to get all the FTF's along the road. What a great trip and thanks to Lisa who always makes geocaching fun. Great series All7 I really liked the quality of the caches and the great hiding spots that you placed the caches in. I have included my Geocaching Poem for you all to read. Woohoo... [FTF]

Geocache Poem
By DARKSIDEDAN

My endless search goes on and on
Looking for treasures of every kind
Always chasing just one more find
Putting past DNF’s out of my mind

I step out into the world outside,
Seeking what is hidden from me
What size, shape or form will it be?
Only time will tell, I can’t wait to see

Will I find my prize at the end?
I will search in the failing light and cold
Filling with despair having looked everywhere
Where is this thing that gives my life pleasure?

Looking all around from every angle
I read the logs and check the hint
I curse out loud as I walk in circles
Screaming the bloody thing it not there

As time flies by and I fail to see,
Never once stopping to realize
It always been there before my eyes
No need for sorrow, there’s the Geocache.

***** I am currently writing detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC. "The Author" Badge challenges geocachers to average one hundred words or more in each log. As of 31st January 2018 my average was 70 words per log, which seems close to the 100 target. However given that I have found so many GC caches, I have to write many logs with well over 100 words for a long period of time to get my average to the target. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that I can strive to attain this challenge. After almost 3000 plus caches (which includes all cache finds up and including yesterday), the average log length is just over 70 words. I am now entertaining the possibility that I might be able to achieve my task before this year ends. Progress has been better than anticipated.*****

FTF at 8:28

When these starting binging away on my phone during dinner, the geowife asked why I was eating so quickly.... hadn't even noticed myself. I got a message from a fellow *FTF* chaser if I wanted to be picked up on the way through.... hmm, they are northside and it also means that I only stop caching when they want. Considering they grabbed FTF's out in Kowen at 2am it wasn't something that is done lightly.... so I politely decline the offer and race off.

I spent 10 minutes looking for the first one before I decided it wasnt happening and I should get a move on. The second was found immediately and while about to sign the posse showed up.... the car was full of cachers: dty73, Aquilus1, Delta Response Team and DARKSIDEDAN.

So we continued on as a group up the road albeit in separate cars.

This was the last we found and it was the one I spent 10 minutes trying to find by myself.

*FTF* With dty73, Delta Response Team, GreyHams and DARKSIDEDAN. Well what a way to end a great weekend of caching, 23 FTF's, certainly I think that's going to be hard for me to top! I was in the shops catching up with all the grocery shopping when down dropped a bazillion caches from both this series and the Vampire one as well. Looking at the shopping trolley and a few messages later to some other caches, (also in other shops!) and through the check out we go.

So it seemed that tonight was going to be a popular caching run but also a bit slower to get going, shopping to take home, our driver dty73 needed fuel and then the pick ups of myself and Delta Reponse Team, we would meet Darksidedan along the way and collect him too, GreyHams was coming but taking his own car. What a great FTF team!

We caught up to GreyHams at the first to be found cache and then travelled along in a convoy, most caches where easily found but a few had us searching hard with the one dnf. Not as much wildlife tonight but still plenty about, roos, wombats and foxes. With all but the one cache found a bit of discussion and the vampire series was next on the list and the convoy headed off in the direction of Tharwa. Here we said goodnight to GreyHams who took Darksidedan with him to drop him back to his car along the way while dty73 Delta Response Team and myself continued on down to the vampire series and the waiting new caches. Thanks for the caches ALL7 made for an interesting night!
