Found with Vampire Trekkers Unite on a huge day out. Thanks everyone for a successful mission and fun vibes. Sorry that I became a bit tired and grumpy towards the end, but regardless, I feel proud for achieving what we did, that was hard work, I'm glad that I set a boundary by skipping the last few caches for another day and going home to rest. The mountains were beautiful to climb, there were plenty of great views, especially when we were level with the morning clouds. Perfect weather and temperatures. All easy finds, with some caches replaced with permission from the CO. TFTC!
This cache was recently replaced, we replaced a number of caches on the walk the remains can be seen in the attached picture. A day walk 7 hours and 14km to do a large part of the Vampire Series (40+ caches) on this brilliant winter day with Joolay, Contesta, Kittykatch, Aykayem, isopeda, Toy Hunter, Scaphoid, search4, JoeyLovesTreasure and baristayan. Signing as VTU (Vampire Trekkers Unite). Thank you for organizing Contesta, I enjoyed this walk in great company immensely. Some really great views of endless nature landscapes. This is a really pretty spot down here, will be back for the TE caches down at the river's edge. Thank you DARKSIDEDAN. for putting the cache out, maintaining it and contributing to this great hobby we have. Happy trails, Flintstone's
Found today with the VTU (Vampire Trekkers Unite) crew. Massive day out, the views were absolutely stunning and the company was pretty awesome too! All caches were found fairly easily and some were replaced with permission from the CO.Thank you DSD for the cache!
Vampire Series WanderFound with Joolay, isopeda, contesta, Scaphoid, Toy Hunters, Baristayan, akayem, Flintstones, Search4 and JLT. Logs signed as (VTU) Vampire Trekkers Unite. Thanks for the hide DARKSIDEDAN
Looking forward to the walk today with Kittykatch, Aykayam, Scaphoid, contesta, Toy Hunters, Baristayan, Isopeda, Joeylovestreasure, Search 4, Flintstones, signed as VTU for Vampire Trekkers Unite. Thanks for getting me out and about DARKSIDEDAN
Find # 123259/6/2024 15:22Caching adventures continue, plans were hatched, word got around, and with some trustee like-minded souls we assembled at the frosty start line - KittyKatch, Joolay, Search4, Flintstones, isopeda, Akayem, joleylovestreasure, Scaphoid, Toy_Hunters, and baristyan. Signing as VTU for Vampire Trekkers Unite I had quite a list for today as I have not been in this area since pre-Covid. Environmentally a lot has changed since then, particularly as a result of the big fires. credit to the team at Parks who have made a number of infrastructure improvements and a lot of track work has been completed. As for the puzzles and multis, I had worked on these over time in anticipation of someday getting up here, today was the day, hail rain or shine. Great to be picking up some solves. A couple of the multis required traveling great distances between cities, and heaven knows Ive been cross-crossing the country a ridiculous amount in the past couple of years.Always shenanigans in a group as you never quite know what might happen but its guaranteed to be fun!All caches located, retrieved, signed, and replaced. Thanks DARKSIDEDAN for Vampire Series #51 - The Count (Sesame Street)
34,724. Found during an assault on one of the sections of the Vampire Series that I have yet to try for. After a reconnaissance last week, I headed out today to knock off one of the Letterbox Hybrids and the Trad run starting from the Gigerline Reserve Gate heading south south west to above the river. After the LBH, I started along the Trad run. Despite the very slim chance of getting hit, I walked on the 'cache' side of the fence rather than the 'pointy' side. This was a great choice as I followed lots of animal tracks in the right direction which was a lot of fun. Once I was at GZ it was a quick find. From here I found all new empty logs. Signed the log, replaced the cache as found, then continued meandering along the animal trails to the next cache. I must say that my favourite Vampire of all time has to be The Count ! 1 Favourite Point -Ah Ah Ah !Thanks DSD !! This was an awesome bunch of caches to do. And so much easier than I thought it would be.
Muggle65 and l thoroughly enjoyed this wee stroll. Nothing much, in regards to undergrowth and prickle bushes, to contend with at all. It was a beautiful morning although rather cold for we Northeners. But we felt like we had the planet to ourselves.
Just a new baggie added here.
Thank you for the fun DSD

FFLL#1 and I decided we wanted to go for a wander, so we decided to grab a couple more Vampire caches. We had our route targeted and off we went. Was a nice wander for most of them, but there were a couple that got the legs burning and heart rate up.
Thanks for the cache placements and maintenance DSD and thanks for the day out today FFLL#1

#16282 - 12:50:00 PM; Out on a caching run through and past Tharwa with Sol de lune to top up the daily finds calender. Most of our finds were in the Vampire series, but grabbed a few others in the area as we were passing. A couple of damp logs here and there, but most caches were in good condition when we added our names to the log. TFTC DARKSIDEDAN
Out this way with LuckyL10n and after a few other finds, we decided to take a walk along here. Once on the right side of the fence, all the caches we attempted were found, with all but one in good condition.
Thanks for the series and the chance to check this area out.

Out chasing the flashlight attribute. Nice little Ridgeway to walk along. Thanks for the cache.
Another weekday walk in Ingledene, and another set of vampire caches! These had apparently not been found for more than a year, but all were intact and only two had waterdamaged logbooks.
Thanks for the caches!
Thanks for the caches!
A much cooler summer's day today, almost autumnal, and so I thought it would be a good morning to knock over a few of DSD's Vampire series.
I parked in the big clearing near #33 off Smiths Road and walked parallel to the track but on the western side of the fence (crossed it near #49 where the fence is broken) to avoid having to cross it each time. Animal tracks were easy to follow. There's heaps of thistles in the early - cleared - part of the track, but the country was prettier once I headed into the bush.
This cache was a straightforward find at GZ in an obvious location, and was in good, dry condition.
Thanks for the series, DSD - most enjoyable.

Another magnificent tree and view from here. I am so enjoying our walking through here. Thank you DARKSIDEDAN you pick the best spots.
I spent a few hours trekking around and picking up some of the caches in the Vampire series today. This was the first. Thanks DSD.
A lovely walk around the reserve, thank you for the series. We had some fun and will definitely return to complete more of this series.
#5586 12th for today
A lovely, cool day for some caching down south. I've been considering the Vampire Series for some time, but had to ensure I had sufficient garlic and wooden stakes to complete it. Blood was drawn today, but not by any vampire or ill-tempered bird, just the ever present scratchy bushes that seem to infest this part of the landscape. A good haul today, I was surprised that the batch of caches on the eastern side of Smiths Road had not been visited in just over 9 months. There are a few barbed-wire fences that might have discouraged a few, less intrepid cachers, but not me. It was actually the easiest part to navigate.
Thanks DARKSIDEDAN.

I left a bejewelled rooster brooch here inside its original wrapper. Cache and log are good. TFTC DARKSIDEDAN.
It was an early morning start to the day, kids sport commitments I had to be back for soon after midday i.e chauffeuring duties. Sunny and a little breezy, light scrub and mostly clear trails making for a nice bushwalk (as opposed to a hike). A decent number of Vampire series still yet to be found, it was a good result with 23 from 23. Caches for the most part were in good condition, though a few soon or already in need of some CO lovin’. Turns out I wasn’t the only one out this way today, but I had already left by the time they started.
Apologies for the generic log, any specific details added at the end.

I went out this morning to do some of the Vampire Series and got a few done. Thanks for the series. Cheers
A cold, but good day finding some of the Vampire series. All caches found OK and in good condition. Parked outside the Archery place for this part of the trail.
Thanks,
Thanks,
Cleared up a few more of the Vampire Series this afternoon, beautiful views all round on a sunny but cool and breezy afternoon. All containers were in good condition and the accurate coords helped greatly in making quick finds. TFTC DSD

Today's project was to do the section of the vampire series along the ridge that passes the archery club. It was a total success with all caches accurately placed at their coordinates and in good condition. TFTCs

We were smashing the caches along this trail. The pace had picked up. My legs were feeling less like jelly all of a sudden.
The Count might just be my favourite Sesame Street character. It never occurred to me that he was a vampire!
Thx DSD!

A day out cachng with ZQX, AngelG27, Bobl27 and Noikmeister, aiming for 50+ in a day, to collect all but the last of the Hidden Creatures souvenirs. Just under 7 hours to complete this area including the two Murrumbidgee Meanders. (Perfect rogaine training). The weather started off with a little drizzle but soon improved for a lovely day out in the hills. All caches easily found. TFTC.

A sunny Tuesday wondering where to go and decided that parts of the new Vampire Series looked like a good walk with generous D/T stars and 4 Letterboxes to boost those stats! I brought Matt out today who recently decided he would start logging caches too after coming on numerous adventures with me in the past year!
We ended up doing all the caches in the series that are placed on the West side of Smiths Road as well as 4 that are along the road itself and the extra letterbox in the East!
All caches were found in good condition which was awesome to see, and no DNF's in the series! Thanks DARKSIDEDAN for placing all these caches, I am loving the scenery and walks, and will be back here very shortly to keep making my way through them all!
**End of Cut & Paste**

This one took quite a while to locate. I was climbing all over the tree and looking in all the holes and nooks etc. Eventually I located the cache a few metres away lying on the ground. Opened it up to see MJW1 as the last finder. This was the only log along here that Wilbert67 and J+J.au didn't sign. Maybe they accidentally logged as found? Oops! They probably found so many on this day!
Thanks! I replaced the cache back in a hole in the tree. Not sure which was the right hole though!

We have been a little side tracted lately and not been out in the wild caching. Been watching how many new caches have been published and we needed to get out and have some fun.
We set out early while it was still dark, bagged a swag of caches and finished in the dark, we made most of the day.
We invited Wilbert67 to join us and it turned out a great day out.
It felt like we had 4 seasons in one today, the temperature fluctuated, wind, snow and sunshine, the caches there were many variables in types and hides.
Thank you to all the COs for their effort on placements and to add to our enjoyment and Wilbert for your company.

A great long day of caching that had everything in it. From city to country, from high to low, from warm to cold. We managed to knock off quite a bit of trails, drive trip, beautiful views and vampire series being the main ones. In between a few very nice single traditionals. Loved driving around this part of Namadgi and seeing snow today was great. Thanks to all the cache owners for putting the caches out, the quality was surprisingly good! Thanks to J+J.AU for taking me along today.

An absolutely beautiful early winter's day in Canberra, just perfect for wandering around between the Gudgenby and Murrumbidgee Rivers. A day of sun, scenery and... vampires. Found a bunch of them to bring me nearly up to date with the series. All were easily found, with the odd adventure.
TFTC and good on Dan for bringing me to these interesting parts of Namadgi and Gigerline. Apologies for the generic logs, but I'll make up for it with some individualised photos taken somewhere near the various GZs.

A walk with JohnnyBoyACT to do a few more of the recent additions to this series. I kike the area, pleasant views and easy scrub to negotiate. TFTC.
Wow - a lot of new caches published when I was away! - Time to try and find some of them! Found a batch this morning, and headed out again this afternoon to find some more. Started out with this leg of the series. Managed to complete this leg, but then called it quits, as it started to rain. Did this leg on my bike, which had plusses and minuses. On the plus side was that the return trip to the car was very quick. On the minus side was that I had to cross that uncooperative fence many times! Most caches found easily. Wish there was a hint as to which ones required climbs, as I did make one unnecessary climb . Thanks for more in this series DSD. P.S. - I got rather black hands after doing this one!
On a very dry dusty overcast Winter's day we decided to find more of DSN vampire caches after enjoying the walking trails of some of the previous Vampire series. We started with #s 49-57 in that order. The environment was certainly not as picturesque and inspiring when compared to the other side of the road, closer to the Murrumbidgee River, but none the less we all found it interesting to see the bush on the Mt Tennant hside.
It was such a quick 3km round trip for the first group of caches that we decided to also walk on the trail to find cache #s 40, 58-63 in that order (total 16 caches) for another 4kms of brisk walking. This end of the trail was far more interesting seeing kangaroos, wallabys, a wombat, denser greenery and we could hear and see the Gudgenby River flowing down below.
Worth a favourite point on cache #49 for this group of caches. Thx p2p. TFTC DARKSIDEDAN.
BTW: in each of DSN Vampire groups released there has been a few caches that don't upload to each of our GPSs. In this group it was #s 52, 59 and 63 - does anyone else have this issue and know how to resolve it?

Looks like DSD has progressed from finding caches to creating large tough series like this one, so thanks. This was a 7hr joint effort by both me and TheSkype on a cold day starting at 7.30 and walking over 10km in all sorts of terrain finding caches, some hidden up in the trees, and 2 caches over the river. Voted. Tftc
#2974 After finding some in this series, it was time to find the rest with Green-martian. Spent 5 hours walking along the track in the cold wind before heading to work. Found 25 caches today. TFBUH DARKSIDEDAN.
After getting some nearby caches with the CO and the rest of our group, DTY73, Aquilus1, and I headed out to do even more.
It was a cold night but we kept warm by stumbling around in the bushland and collecting *FTF*s

(Apologies for generic logs... someone might be a little behind on their logging and can't remember everything from almost a year ago.. oops)

*FTF* 9.15pm with dty73 and delta response team. So a great number of new caches dropped tonight, in this series and also another over at Corin. It also brought out a great numbers of people to search and with dty73, Delta response team, GreyHams and DARKSIDEDAN we had just finished the Corin Trail. GreyHams and DSD called it a night but the rest of us continued on down to this series.
Although the temp was cold and dropped down to about 2 degrees walking along it wasn't felt. The trail from #49 to #57 was mostly flat and clear and easy walking along on the trail that followed the fence. A bit of diverting off towards the caches and then back to the trail again. Torches are good but this night caching relies a lot of using the satellite image on the phone with the gps, finding the tracks and the clear paths around the thicker bushes. And it was the trip from #55 to #57 that proved to need this the most to get through the thicker bush, A bit more undulating but still easy walking and we got through easily, and out again easier with just a 30 minute walk back to the car. Thanks for the cache and the series DARKSIDEDAN. All I can say is if I can just about any one can... Yes, I really did climb the tree!
