It's Mother's Day and i said the family had to do what i want to do and geocaching it is. And a beautiful May sunny day it was!I wanted to collect some Challenge caches. In the past 12 months i have been collecting THE BEST OF THE BEST CACHES in four states due to a challenge cache in Dunsborough, and this is probably why i had managed to get this easily. Must have caught the roos on their lunch break. They didn’t move as I drifted through the mob.

I'm slowly warming to these types of caches. I was in Churchill Park for a Wherigo and decided to tick off a few of these challenge caches. I was recently informed that ProjectGC tracks write notes and can tell you if you pass. So that makes things easier.

I passed this one thanks mainly to the locationless caches - I only got the one. Thanks for placing the cache in the wild. Adding a trailhead would be nice and may help save some trampling of the local flora.

A special geocaching outing with Kashbound that has been planned for quite some time to fill our grids.
I'm more of a journey rather than destination kinda of gal but this a worthy destination and milestone geocaching achievement. We almost skipped up the hill with excitement and found cache easily. TFTC ahomherg - goal setting aka challenge caches, are motivation to keep moving.

There are some awfully steep hills to negotiate here but this challenge was overcome thankfully, together with ilookgeo. We spent our time doing the walking and enjoyed the day, especially getting back to the car for a comfortable seat. All was good with the caches we found. Challenges were all accepted and achieved. We had put this are on our to do list a few Months back and today was the day that finally arrived, did not go exactly to plan as I got an early call from Tiz to say her car had a flat battery, My car was going into Nissan to day for a repair job so that was not available, thankfully the Racv were quick on the job today and Tiz soon picked me up and we were on our way, we found a parking spot closest to our first cache, trouble is there was no access but a gap between to gates, well I went trough sucking my belly in and contorting through, not easy for a 55 year old and then the five hours of walking began, I am not sure why I play this game, stuffed arm from a truck and a prolapsed L5 had my hips feeling like my legs were going to pop out the sockets by the end of the day.

There is Bush Bashing and now there is what we call Homburg Bashing, guaranteed to take you where no sane person would go.

By the end of the day I collapsed in the car as Tiz drove us home and yes I got up the next day and went out again.

The plan to visit Lysterfield to collect the challenge caches with Rebel Acts had been made months ago. Executing the plan, happened today. In true Tiz13 fashion, the day did not go to plan. The Geo car had a flat battery that delayed our start time. Getting into the park from where we parked was somewhat hilarious and involved alot of contorting, needless to say injuries were sustained. What we thought might be some mild bush bashing turned into a term we are calling ahomburg bashing .
Logs will follow as I qualify for these caches.

The locationless caches have made this challenge all too easy, and I’ve still yet to log the newest one. Putting them aside, I had an awesome day here in Melbourne yesterday - almost 500 FP in a day spread over a handful of caches along the Yarra. I’ve also just recently logged Gawler Fort Knox, SA’s second most favourited cache, see pic.

Like many others it seems, we had also been out to find GC13Y2Y in Berlin (now unfortunately archived) which finished up with over 10,000 FPs ..but we couldn't find the thing. One of the most disappointing DNFs ever! TFTC, ahomburg.

Today is a good day, with only a few showers sprinkling the radar I thought that I might spend my afternoon having a nice stroll through Churchill Park collecting and signing this and the other remaining caches that I have in the reserve.

We weren’t expecting to find this cache where we did but it was a quick find so we’re happy . (We suspect this was supposed to be hanging in a tree but the branch has broken off. The cache is still tethered but is lying at ground level in the middle of the clump of big trees.)

We qualify for this challenge with just one cache. It was a beauty…

Today I caching with The Green Geckos and Muggle65 we had lots of fun.
My total finds count was 28 cache with 4 waypoints. The breakdown is 10 mystery, 5 traditional, 2 letterbox, 2 virtual, earthcache, 2 multi, and 4 adventure labs waypoints.
Today I completed a traditional loop and my 11 loop. Yippee
Thank you CO for the placement and maintenance you do. Lot of these caches help me finishing other challenges.

Day 3 Melbourne today with a few old virtual and challenge caches as target.

**Today:**

I was riding solo today! The other Adventure Boys all had other plans and caches they wanted to get, but I had my eyes set on some "ahomburg" challenges around Lysterfield, plus a few other interesting caches along the way including a virtual, some gadget caches and a few puzzles!

A long drive out this way from near Whittlesea, but well worth it! Plenty of hiking both on & off trails, but my hayfever was the worst it has been this entire season.... wasn't the best but I managed to push through as much as I could whilst taking plenty of rest breaks!

Today was also the hottest day of the trip, excellent sunny weather without any threat of it going sour, but this meant that I had to keep up the fluids and try to find shade when possible!

After all the hiking it was time to attend 3x event types for an evening of socialising! This is where the Adventure Boys rejoined! We first attended the CITO, then the event with an epic tree climb, and finished it off with a CCE near the city.

Find #1500!

I know 1500 isn't technically an official milestone, but earlier in the week I noticed I was getting close to 1500 finds. So I planned to hit my 1500th find on my favourite day of the year, October 31st, Halloween!

Happy Halloween fellow cachers!

As with every milestone, I wanted to try and find a special cache. With challenge caches becoming my favourite type of cache, I knew I wanted to try and find one today. So I was looking for challenge caches that I had already qualified for, when I saw this one.

Finding my favourite type of geocache, on my favourite day of the year, and the challenge was all about finding favourited caches. It just seemed too perfect.

I remembered working on this challenge earlier in the year, and as I was scouting out the highest favourited caches in Victoria. I saw that a lot of recent finders were qualifying for this one using the new Locationless caches. However, I wanted to try and qualify for this one using only Victoria caches.

Well that kind of went out the window after my trip back to the USA, with finding a few caches around the oldest active geocache, "Mingo" (GC30). Those ones put me completely over.

So today I went out there to try and find this cache. However, as soon as I arrived at the entrance to the park, the rain really started to pour. So it was a nice walk to GZ. However, you know what they say there is never bad weather for geocaching.

Once I got near GZ, I found the cache on the ground in the middle of the path. Which it didn't seem right, so I hid the cache in a logical spot nearby and messaged the CO, that this one may no longer be in the exact correct spot.

Thanks for the fun challenge, I had a blast qualifying for this one. This one earns a favourite point from me!

Cache Maintenance Status:

The cache container was in great shape and the logbook was clean with plenty of room for future cache finders to sign.

Thanks for the great challenge, although in the future it will not be much of a challenge at all - one day we may see a single Locationless cache meet the requirement. Why are Locationless caches racking up so many favorite points?

Yay! Another that I had forgotten about and signed years ago. Was a great day out the time out solo on the bike from what I recall. Now need to start working on the others out here! Love high favourite caches, however sometimes it can just be a kids toy that has been placed that has over 50 FPs, each to your own however! Not everyone's FP is a big hike or mountain climb. Was a fantastic walk up the hill on the start of a very successful day signing this series of challenges, and getting the AR and virtual cache as well . I had never done an augmented reality cache before, and I can tell you I enjoyed it immensely .

Out with Emandel and the kids to get some more mysteries under "his" belt. I think we may have park with an extra challenge to this challenge since getting here required some steep hills. Traveled out East again for a late lunch, so I decided to take the deadly treadly out to Lysterfield / Churchill Park to find a few challenges. A bit of backwards and forwards with some paths closed to bikes, but I ended up getting to most of the ones I wanted too.

Just before I arrived at the park it rained a bit, so the walk through the long grass got me very wet!
Fortunately the hide was quite easy so I didn't have to grovel around to find it.
I had this challenge covered a while ago, but I recently did the Locationless CITO cache GC8NEAT. It has 5,000 favourite points by itself!
The next highest Australian cache is Lane Cove with about 400 points.

a pleasant undulating walk in the foothills of our adopted backyard
and completed the paperwork with blood drawn but the challenge uncompleted

so we hit battle stations
objective: collect the needed thousand-ish favourite points
comprehensive maps and charts and tables were drawn up
an elaborate scheme to hit the most favourited treasures in victoria in one adrenalin-fuelled weekend and knock the blighter off

but then we found an easier way to do it

Zeus and are youngest were riding some of the tracks so they dropped me off at the Churchill entrance and I took a couple of hours to walk to meet them at the main biking carpark, finding caches along the way. Perfect way to spend a Sunday morning!

Meet my daughters and granddaughters there, so we all walked for the day. Poor my granddaughters were upset over leech so help them to clean up. They enjoyed.

I visited this cache twice in order to sign the log. Once last year when I was unable to find it, and once earlier this year where I was able to find the cache and sign the log. I didn't think I qualified for any of the challenges that I signed on that day, however on reviewing Project GC it turns out this is the only one I do!

As many of the caches that would fit in the log are listed below. Looks like I need some big hitters based on the other logs!

A good challenge which I had qualified for sometime ago. Another nice morning for a bit of exercise this time taking a longer path along Ridge track, which is a much easier way up compare to following the north boundry track. Plenty of kangaroos seen who were busy doing thier vacuum cleaning of the grassy sections.

The fog cleared early so with the sun out, we set off to sign a number of challenges with the hope of qualifying one day. As you do, we grabbed a couple of other caches on the way.

Woohoo!!! DNF redeemed! Couldn’t find this one last time I searched but after a short search the cache was in hand today. Signed the log and added to the homework list to set about qualifying for the challenge.

So good to have some choice again of where to cache since COVID restrictions have eased. Thankfully this area was not effected by recent storm damage and the weather allowed us an opportunity to enjoy some bush walking. It didn't take long to accumulate 11kms of walking on my fit bit today.
Today we were keen to sign some challenge cache logs. Thanks for the challenge ahomburg and great to meet you for a chat today.

After checking with Project GC it has confirmed that we qualify for this challenge and I have updated our log to a 'found it' smiley face.

I found this cache today on my Lap of Churchill Park. I was almost able to get it in two caches. The first two are obvious where they are, in Seattle Washington and near Portland, Oregon. The third was near Geocaching Headquarters and I only found out a few weeks ago that this cache had been archived due to the tree being cut down. This was one of my favourite caches of all time. I found and signed this one while hitting up Listerfield on 20/3/21 with Cybergran V for every challenge cache we could get our names in.

Before logging GC8NEAT, I found only the sum of 9321 Fav' Points.
Now, by earning logging rights for two caches by attending one CITO, I have closer to 12,000.
I bet GCHQ were not expecting that side effect when they published their ultra rare Locationless (Reverse) Cache.

Signed log back 6/10/2019 and after a concentrated effort over the last couple of years I find that I now achieve this challenge cache. Certainly these caches were worth the find without the bonus of achieving a challenge but it did give me a focus for any caching outing to seek out amazing caches.

With an RDO today and a leave pass from the Minister of War and Finance, I had an invite from a caching friend in the East to come over for the weekend and do some caching together, an offer to good to refuse as living in Ballarat I don't often get over to this part of the world. So I had pretty much all day to myself today so I planned to sign all the challenge caches in this park and pick up whatever else I happened to go past.

Found and signed while hitting up Listerfield with Cybergran V for every challenge cache we could get our names in.

I took a walk on the walk, unhid the hide and made a mark with my mark marker.
Quantified yet to qualify so writ this Write Note about a log yet to log of a find I found.

At the time of my visit to GZ I had only 733 more favs to find. That's less than Lane Cove has on it. [^]
I could take a trip up to Sydney to qualify with one more find or I could just do what everybody else will and photograph myself picking up a piece of rubbish to log GC8NEAT.

A somewhat late start to the hiking day after trying to work out a couple of nearby puzzles, but still was quite warm. A nice walk/jog in from the gates of Churchill Park.

It only took a couple of minutes to find this once I was in the area, though it wasn't hidden quite how I expected. All in good order here, and headed off to the Trig Point after this. Thanks for the cache.

Once you have a few thousand cache finds behind you, I find that Challenge caches tend to fall into one of two categories...
(a) a real challenge that pushes you to find specific caches... or
(b) no challenge at all because you have already qualified without needing to make any special effort.

For me, this challenge fell into the latter group... primarily because I have had the opportunity to find some absolutely brilliant caches in the UK and Europe. The only remaining challenge for this cache then was to walk into it... and even that wasn't much of a challenge because it only required a 20 metre detour from a non-caching challenge I was working on today... finishing off my participation in Oxfam's *Virtual Trailwalker* with a walk from the Dandenong Police Paddocks through to Ferntree Gully National Park...

I used the Project-GC Challenge Checker to see if I qualified for this challenge and I did. I have found the sum of 10257 FP on 11 caches and I needed 10000 of FP.

Searched for a good 30mins or more trying to find the cache but could not locate it anywhere. A shame as it would have been good to work towards the fav points.

Out for a walk in the park (Churchill National Park that is). This cache was the main aim of today's walk, with the D/T combination required for my next loop. I looked around for a loooong time, but still didn't find it. I used the phone-a-friend option that gave me a hint as to roughly where it was hidden, but not how. I was almost about to abandon the search when I found the cache. Smaller than expected for a small, and not hidden the way I presumed.



So glad to have finally found it. Despite taking much longer than hoped or longer than it should have, I was glad I came. Thanks to ahomburg for the cache.

I came to Torture Park to mainly do the 3 "challenge" caches, which I was looking forward to do, however I think it was easier to qualify for this challenge than it was to find the cache [B)] So many places to look and amongst that spiky plant that always gives us trouble. Managed to find it in plain sight after approaching it from the right angle, which was the opposite from the direction that I approached GZ of course - wasn't it

I found the sum of 10141 FP on 40 caches and I needed 10000 of FP

After targeting some caches with a large number of favourite points recently, I find that I've drawn a lot closer than last time I checked: "I found only the sum FP of 9727," says the checker.
Hopefully by the time I get back to the area where this cache is hidden, I will qualify.
Great challenge, ahomburg! Suggestion: You could make a similar (but tougher) challenge where only Australian caches count towards the 10000. Or maybe I could make that one. Hmmm. Something to think about.

Today was the first full day of the 2019 Bromance St Arnaud FIFO adventure. The serious cachers (Seffnjarah, Swellerfungus, Saywat? and JeznDez) headed out at sparrows with only a few miserable hours of sleep following a late night flight. We had a long list of caches planned.

It was a good slog up and over the hill and now we followed the fence line from the Multi Challenge. Container was in good condition. I qualify for this challenge with just 8 caches.

As we walked towards this one I commented that the place seemed familiar. Seffhnjarah agreed, but we decided it was just similar to something else. Eventually I worked out that we HAD indeed been here before - just 363 days ago for the last Mega. We had come in a different way that time, so it was like a brand new walk! Thank for the fun.

Swellerfungus fulfils challenge The 10,000 Favourite Challenge (GC7Q8FX), according to https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC7Q8FX/45047

The Bromance (seffnjarah, Crookedpete and Swellerfungus) conducted a successful fly-in-fly-out mission from Brisbane to Melbourne for last year's mega event at Parkville, and decided to return again this year for the The Bromance Mega FIFO Adventure 2019. With the addition of Dez of JezNDez as the all new-and-improved Bromance, and sayWOT? joining us as caching 457 visa holder, the expanded team flew in for 3 days of caching around Melbourne and regional Victoria, with a visit to the St Arnaud Mega thrown in.

Despite not getting to our accommodation until well after 1am (delayed by the collection of some caches visited along the way ) we were on the road again at 5.30 am and working our way through "The List" of to-do caches for the trip. Knowing that there would be a lot of driving and sitting in the car during the weekend, I decided to schedule a bit of a walk around Churchill National Park to wake everyone up and get the blood flow going. I was not the most popular member of the team as my pre-trip planning had not discovered just how hilly the terrain was, and they were not mollified by my assertion that the walked looked quite flat on the aerial map.

As we walked along the boundary fence to GZ, both Swellerfungus and I remarked how this location looked very similar to a spot we had visited and enjoyed immensely on our trip to Melbourne 12 months ago. It was only later on that Swellerfungus discovered that it actually WAS the same spot, we had just accessed it from the west this time as opposed to from the south last time.

Arriving at GZ it took far too long for us to locate the cache container as we kept concentrating our search on obvious spots. Changing our focus we eventually stumbled upon the hide, with the logbook signed "The Bromance". TFTC

**QUALIFICATION:** I am fortunate to qualify for this challenge with just one find - [GC13Y2Y](https://coord.info/GC13Y2Y) Lego - einer ist zuviel in Berlin which I [found](https://coord.info/GLXRZ3MF) on 31/12/18 and currently has 11,1812 favourite poinrts. I did think that the number of favourite points for that cache was a little on the generous side...

Ah promises, promises, especially those of the drunken variety! At a mid-year birthday party for seffnjarah Junior, Jez and the LadySim conspired to get the usually sober, in control, type ‘C’ Seff a tad tiddly. Fast-forward to November, and as a direct result of the inebriated pledges made that night, we found ourselves on a plane bound for Melbourne, ostensibly for the Mega, but mostly to assist Seff in pretending he’s not one step closer to F-I-F-T-Y by solving puzzles, climbing lots of trees, a hike or two, and maybe, just maybe, spending a couple of hours with several of our long suffering spouses who had been dragged along for the ride.

A late cancellation from the Golden Stairs meant the cachers on the trip comprised an extended Bromance; Swellerfungus, Crookedpete, Seff (seffnjarah), SayWot! and I, while LadySim, Jarah and Jez would be undertaking the very serious business of quality checking a number of vineyards and distilleries.

After some caching the night before, and a solid 2.5 hours of sleep, we were back in the car and cracking on with day 2 of The List. We spent quite a while looking here, before eventually finding the cache in a not very obvious spot. I knew I had qualified, but ran the checker to be sure and see how many finds it took for me to qualify. I was quite surprised it was so many. List posted below:

Went for a mountain bike ride/ walk (up that hill !) this morning targeting this Challange cache as I qualify having found some popular overseas caches. I'm almost at 1000 finds.
Parking my bike close to GZ, I had brought my Garmin with me as there seemed to be the probability of trouble with smartphone cover. I'm not a fan of bush caches and get dismayed a little - missed finding one yesterday on the Yarra. I thought I had plugged the numbers in correctly in the Garmin but after 5 mins realised I should be believing my phone as without my reading glasses I had made a small error _- Back at the proper GZ there were a few proper places. Started searching - after 5 mins it was time to put on the Garden gloves and get a little more serious with hidden places. Just as I was doing so , I was at the right angle to spy the cache. Relief and jubilation- and my smart phone was right on zero. no trouble with coverage today . All dry here after the rain - I signed the log and returned it the way I found it - now for the fun part - Mountain bike down the hill in one piece and no accidents! - Thanks ahomburg for the idea of the Challange cache - the other ones in the area are going to have to wait until I qualify. We do so love a Challenge cache and so back in Australia again we made a point of returning to this very lovely National Park having had so much fun finding Challenge Caches and Gadget Caches when here earlier in the year, and so with some new caches around we simply had to make a return visit. Once at Ground Zero we began our search. At first we had no luck but we were determined not to leave until we had found the cache. We continued searching and finally after about 30 minutes there was the cache - how had we missed it before!? We signed the log book and then replaced as found. We also qualify for this Found It log as per the proof attached, having found the sum of 10,216 Favourite Points on 4 caches - our qualifying cache finds are as follows:

Having done some of the earlier challenge caches a while back we saw some more for this trip so returned for another trip in via the Kangaroo track and yes we saw a few along the way.
The hide on this one took us way too long to find despite finding the other challenge caches nearby. Cache blindness plus a bit of GPSr Swirl did not help.
We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC.

Earlier this year I was lucky enough to spend two weeks travelling around Germany and the Czech Republic and got to do some caching whilst I was there. A lot of the caches I found had a lot of FPs, but the Lego one in Berlin meant I qualified for this cache on that one alone! My write note provides more details about this.

Today I had a spare couple of hours so I targeted this cache. It took an age to find as I didn't believe the GPS when it said I was at GZ. Turns out I was and only spotted it from a certain angle! Ah well got there in the end. TFTC

After a couple of events earlier in the day, I decide to head out to this area once again as this cache was on the must find list as it is a D/T that I was wanting plus I had already qualified for the he challenge.
I jumped on the bike and made my way to GZ, where I left the track and headed bush.
I started looking around as I was getting closer to 0 and out the corner of my eye l spotted the cache, well that’s a bit random, not what I was expecting at all.

In Melbourne with gwd.aussie with a plan to attend Melbourne's Leisurefest and hopefully grab a couple of caches while we were at it. After spending the morning looking at caravans and camper trailers we made our way to Park to grab a couple of caches. gwd.aussie was wanting to grab this cache as it met a D/T however I am yet to qualify. Trick one but got there eventually thanks to gwd.aussie

As I was quickly approaching 8k, I set about searching for an appropriate memorable cache. I remembered this being published a few weeks ago, and was surprised to find I qualified. I thought it was a great idea for a challenge, and consequently a great idea for a milestone.
As I was planning to do a powertrail tomorrow, I ran around after work the last couple of days to get the numbers and this cache needed to be done tonight - rain, hail or shine.
Atsmug mentioned he was available to join me, so we arranged where to meet, and set off up, up, up to the cache. Wow, that hill is steep! Along the way, we saw lots of kangaroos enjoying the last bit of daylight. Approaching the top, the views were amazing. After what seemed like an hour uphill, we finally reached gz. Both our GPSrs were sending us this way and that. We circled and zigzagged for ages with no luck. As darkness began to descend upon us, I resorted to PAF - the CO. Being placed so long ago, it was hard for Mr Homburg to remember the details of the hide, but he managed to narrow it down for us.
Now it was starting to drizzle heavily. Luckily we’d brought an umbrella up with us. With one torch and one phone torch we kept on searching. Eventually something silver reflected. The cache was now at near ground level. YAY!! Thanks ahomburg for the challenge, and the cache. Thanks atsmug for sharing the adventure. ??

Out here tonight to celebrate OHCs 8000, and after a few PAF hints we began to widen the search and just as I walked away from the umbrella signifying where zero was, I spotted a glimmer of silver. Phew!

Thanks to OHC for inviting me along to this milestone, I remember being there for her 6000 too.

Another cache found this morning which I am not yet able to log as a 'Find'. A little bit evil, this one. Got there eventually after the GPS settled. Coords are good and so is the cache's condition.

I will admit, I was a little worried walking into this one. I have a new habit of checking where my feet are at all times, pretty much, thanks to another of this CO caches! I discovered this cache as I was looking to check where it was safe to put my feet next! Haha this new habit may help my cache find ratio!
