Had to get away from home as there were family problems. So what to do go caching and tramping
Thanks for this cache the fence is bit mangled now but found it still so all happy
This is where the road flattened out to where it has been graded with thick gravel, so I decided to stop biking so while gk loaded the bike onto the 4WD.
When I got near gz I understood the name of the cache. The recent floods have obviously been through this area as the cache was under a layer of silt and was quite wet inside - thank goodness for write in the rain paper.
I dried it out and cleaned it up and returned it to its hiding hole.
Thanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley

Hopefully no one views me as an armchair cacher until today. I am currently working on gaining my full geocaching licence and am getting a lot of practice in driving ridiculous amounts of kms in the pursuit of that small bit of happiness. That sums up todays effort anyway. TFTC # 17,739
A long weekend, and time to explore another area of Marlborough. As an incentive, there was a possible First To Find to aim for, which we got. After a brief look for the car park one and not finding it (we did on the way out though) we descended to lake level with each step dreading even more the walk out. On the way back down the road this was an easy find over there.
Heading back down the hill now towards home but there are a good number of caches to be found on the way.
On approaching the GZ I saw the immediate area was a little worked over. Happily though everything was in place and the cache was where I hoped it would be.
Thanks capperz

Saw the cache name at home and knew exactly where this would be having driven past many times over the years. Named after the old hut local title for what is now Richmond hut.
Can't beat a good couch or armchair .
Mr Marchwood has dragged me off my couch to his mobile heated seats heading to Mid Goulter.
Cheers

On our way home after a most enjoyable tramp to overnight at Mid Goulter Hut.
My last Armchair cache was - Devils Armchair.
This one was a bit easier to get to. I had hardly got out of the car by the time bum had the cache in hand.

On the way to Jubilee Mine Kiwimykl pulled over here. He had already found this, so his assistance made it a QEF PnG for me.

Out for a nice easy walk to Whiteheads Clearing which we haven't done for many years. Stopped to find this one on our way up the valley. TFTC.
I remember being with the CO when the cache was placed. Not sure why I didn’t log it then, I guess I knew I would be back through here at some stage. I can vouch for the placement, which hasn’t moved, but not the original coords. Seems they were a bit out, but that was fixed today. TFTC Capperz.
Today’s aim was the Mt Riley/Mt Sunday loop with Capperz.
We set off at 7am and all looked good. The weather was looking fine too for a good day’s tramping. However that all changed when we got to Kiwi Rd and we found a locked gate.
We contemplated other options for the day and whether or not we could access this from another route, and in the end headed back to the info board at the start of North Bank Rd (yes, it said on there it was closed - rookie mistake).
A new plan then. The enchanted cache, and a few up Top Valley Rd before heading back to Wairau bar to find the Seagnoid’s geotrail offering. That was a DNF, but before then we had covered a bit of ground and found a smattering of caches. And had some good chat as well. Thanks all COs.

Found while on a successful FTF chase up Staircase Road. Made a quick stop here on the way up and found the cache at the first place I looked without referring to my GPS. Apparently the GPS cords are out, but I couldn't confirm that. I've come across armchair cachers logging finds on my caches before.. It is obvious when someone logs caches in Europe, North America, South America and Oceania all in a 24 hour period, that things aren't kosher. As his caching name wasn't Santa Claus, I deleted the log.

On my way to the Mt Richmond track today. Stopped here to find this cache. Coordinates are still a bit off. My GPS took me to the wrong side of the road where I grovelled through brambles to check a couple of trees that might have housed the cache. Gave up on that and turned on my geosense and found the cache in the second place I checked - about 18m from where my GPS was pointing. TFTC, Biggles.

My son TaybeeNZ is visiting for the weekend. So we are out and about exploring Jubillee Mine. The Seagnoid finally gets to drive Toby today and hes having lots of fun. But on the way have to snag and tag this one. Now lets go exploring the mine. Then its up the hill the other way before returning across the river and onwards to Mt Patriach carpark. Its a beautiful day to be out exploring this amazing place. Last time we were up here it was cloudy but today you can see for miles. The braided Wairau River looks amaziing. Cheers
While I appreciate (and agree with) the COs attitude to armchair cachers, I figured that was the best way to get this cache. So I got off my armchair and strolled to the kitchen, signed the log. {FTF}! Woot! Heck, actually, it wasn't even as far as the kitchen.
Okay, okay, that's not really the story, although not far off. It all starts many years ago - yesterday. I got in my magic armchair and went to Motueka after work as my usual evening in Waihopai was cancelled. Left there about lunchtime today. And since I had armchaired 300-odd kilometres I guess another 60 is okay, so I came out here. At the point closest to GZ the cache is 100m into the bush. And then I spy what prompted the cache name. I bet that cache is not 100m into the bush. I bet it is... there! I got out of my armchair and strolled over, less than the distance to the kitchen. It wasn't there. But it was at the next place I tried.
Sorry, Capperz, my GPS and cellphone agree - your coords are a little out. Averaged from my GPS I have S41 33.223 E173 25.472 Which oddly, are quite a bit different from yours. Weird.

Coordinates changed from:
S 41° 33.275 E 173° 25.428
Coordinates changed to:
S 41° 33.223 E 173° 25.472
Distance from original: 374.4 feet or 114.1 meters.
Not sure why I had such poor start co-ordinates, luckily the FTFer grabbed the gold, and took a decent reading.
Thanks t S
