The carpark was closed but we managed to make a quick grab without entering too far into the bush.Good hint. Re-bagged the waterproof log. Geocaching with Antanna has been a amazing experience, as we have ventured up Mt. Egmont tracks and down bush tracks which is always safer with company.
I pretty quickly found the right location but my failure to search it thoroughly meant I quickly checked another couple of locations before returning for success. The log was very wet but I made some marks on it.I left a frog shaped TB that will like the dampness here.T F T C Phronimos.I was dropping my oldest at the Camphouse for an overnight camp and decided to find a couple of the caches on my way down. Some very good walks and didn't get too wet feet (boots would've been a good choice in hindsight).
Sadly didn't find despite having a good look. Will have to go back again one day for another look!
While in the area we decided to also stop for this one. It took a few minutes to locate as was well hidden. We were surprised and annoyed to see a large plastic water container dumped in the bush nearby. The cache was wet but we were able to sign the log. TFTC Phronimos, apologies for the late logging.
Yesterday we hiked Pouakai Circuit and it was amazing. Quick and easy find. Tftc
Found two days ago. We were on to do little hike on Taranaki, but was too cloudy to see at least foothills.. so took this one on our way back. Thanks with Hana from Czechia !
An important cache to find because of its name. A quick find at the edge of the carpark. Have enjoyed coming up this side of the mountain today.
After having a rest after yesterday afternoon (i.e. sleep) we are raring to cache today. The sun is out and we are happy.
Out and about with LNM1961 revisiting Taranaki and collecting caches.
Kia ora rawa atu for the cache Phronimos.

I found quickly after who I identified the appropriate item to search and was so happy to be able yo scrawl our names in the logbook. Caching up in Taranaki with hubby and NZ_B.
Found after searching for quite a while, we went right past and missed it. Logbook is rather wet. TNLN, TFTC!
Auf dem Rückweg vom visitor center hier ein Stop und Log, danke für den Cache. Grüße aus Deutschland.
On the way back from the visitor center here a stop and log, thanks for the cache. Greetings from Germany.

Box was not closed properly. I added some new paper to the wet ones. Thanks for the cache.
A quick stop just as the rain started again
Fortunately there was a little shelter at gz, so I could sign the log and then make a quick dash back to the warm dry campervan.
Thanks for putting this here

Great place for a cache as well as kid friendly for sure, happy hunting everyone!!
“Thank you” to CyclicalCaching for adding another waterproof log to my cache. I very much appreciate that.
Coming down the mountain this morning, made the quick stop for this cache.
Found it relatively easily, but full of water and the log was wet.
Emptied it and added a sheet of waterproof paper for you.
Thanks for the cache!

Stopped on the way out to check for this one. Quickly located, as others have said the cache is quite wet but we managed to sign. Our first visit here and we loved it. Tftc
Well we had a great walk around some of the tracks on our visit today. We had the whole place to ourselves - sublime! Cache was wet - we tipped the water out and were able to dry a portion of the log well enough to sign it; just. TFTC
The cache was lying on the ground when I stepped down into the bush. In fact I nearly trampled it.
It is a wet mess inside.

ElliotMarkTuck, a thorough search of a random selection of my geocache logs suggests you did not actually visit those geocaches and I am therefore deleting your logs. Should you be able to supply evidence to the contrary I will happily reinstate your logs. Cheers, Phronimos
Sorry for the late log. We had a number sitting on an old phone that i though had logged but they hadn't.
We head up to New Plymouth for a few days. We found on day 2, as we headed to the visitor centre. TfTC.

Great find after scrambling around found it right where it said many thanks
Found on my way down. Took a little wandering before finally locating it in this nice cool bush on a hot day, Thanks for the placement
We weren’t convinced it was a punga other wise the hint was great and the four kids enjoyed the hunt! Thanks.
We are on a ten day road trip to Taranaki, The Forgotten Highway, Taumaranui, Ohakune and back home to Palmy. Along the way will be sightseeing, short mountain walks, museum visits, a rail cart journey and, of course, geocaching. Day 4 - we’re now based in Stratford for four days and will make trips out from here.
The main aims for today were to visit North Egmont and also complete a few challenge caches. Despite some very heavy rain earlier we managed our trip in mixes of cloudiness, odd drizzly patches and sunshine, so once again were not badly impacted by the unsettled weather fortunately.
We enjoyed the drive up Egmont Rd and our time up here, including a little track walking, expansive views when the clouds moved, lunch at the cafe and three caches, including this one.
The car park here is closed at the moment, but we were just able to pull off the road and park at the entrance. The hint meant for a very straightforward find. No yeti appeared though, so we’ve yet to find a yeti! TFTC

My Grandson, DragonDefender, and I were out and about The Naki for a few days holiday.. He was quick to spot this one.
Cheers for the cache.

Not many visitors to this one- maybe because the car park is closed not it’s just a short walk from the road so no excuses.
After visiting the Maketawa Hut we stopped here on our way back to town and it took no extra time to find and log this cache.
It's a very cool idea to create those extra caches for the special souvenirs!
Thank you for the cache!

On our way down having done some good walks. Found with mr c on our travels from the UK thank you
Went for an hours walk on the track while we were here. Car park gates locked so parked on the side of the road. Nice quick find. TFTC
Having a day caching near Mount Taranaki, the weather is beautiful and clear! Cache all safe and sound, a quick find. TFTC
Nice quick find. Didnt have a pen so couldn't sigen cache in good condition! Tftc
.Its 7.30 and we are chasing after a Yeti. Its cool and sunny here at 7deg but with a cool wind. Finally get to see the top of this majestic mountain. Later we find out its -6 at the top with snow. BRRRR. Get this one tagged now lets move on. Cheers
Day 8 - Saturday 21 December. A long day from New Plymout to Egmont, then Stratford and back to New Plymouth for a few well earned ZZZZs.
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are spending Christmas exploring Taranaki via geocaching. Its been an amazing 3 week adventure. Rattls BBQ was a great event, meeting many other cachers. But also managed to fit in a few more events, especially New Years Day celebrating the start of 2020. Lots of caches - over 500. Lots of cache maintenance. Lots and lots of kilometers. And lots of amazing places visited along our journey. Mt Taranaki remained elusive for much of our travels and the caches on it at the top. Loved Pukekura Park Night Lights Show and the the Wooden Mechanical toy exhibition at NP Info centre.

Yay, at last we are heading up the hill. Nice views of that hill at long last, looks llike they have finished cleaning it anfd put it back. Despite the clear sky, Taranaki is wearing a blanket, so it must be cold up there (later we heard that it was minus six degrees).
Day eight of Taybeedragon's and my big 3 week circumnavicaching trip around Mt Taranaki, starting from Palmerston North. Today is up the mountain!!
Highlights:
* 3 weeks, 536 caches
* Mt Taranaki had been removed for washing, which was a bit of a shame. Even after it had been returned we were only allowed to see it for it was less than half an hour a day.
* High percentage of caches with crappy coordinates
* Amazing Pukekura Park
* AMAZING Pukekura Park light show!
* Pukeiti Gardens
* Lots of cache maintenance!

Planning for the [NZ Mega 2020](http://nzmega.com) event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. It's going to be a massive celebration of geocaching:
* 20 years of geocaching worldwide.
* 20 years since New Zealand had the very first geocache hidden outside of USA.
* And it's 2020 - all the 20s!
Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of [this event](https://coord.info/GC87777) - you won't want to miss it!

The hind was clear after finding the container and heading back to the car park. TFTC
Called in here after a quick walk to get Trayc.g's cache on the mountain. Car park is currently closed due to a slip on the track so I parked on the road and made my way to gz which was easy to spot. A quick scramble down and up at gz and I had another smiley face on the mountain. Oh Pouakai circuit, how I wish I was able to attempt you, one day hopefully.
We were hoping to climb Mt Taranaki today, but gale force winds sent us back down, so I picked this one up on the way home. Lovely area here, TFTC

# 1307 Yay, this weekend it was time for a roadie from the Hutt Valley up to Taranaki, with the prime mission being a summit of Mt Taranaki, and the secondary mission being 2bullbars smiley trail. There were a few other caches added for good measure too. Team GST as we named ourselves consisted of Gr33nslime, stardust718 and twigNZ. All up we found 51 caches and only two DNF so that is a pretty good hit rate. Sorry for the bulk log here. Thank you very much to all of the cache owners for placing and maintaining the caches that we had the pleasure of finding on this trip.
Getting pretty close to our accomodation by this stage and its getting dark and cold. Out come the torches and the find was made in the obvious place thanks to the hint. Cheers Phronimos.

This weekend I was finally going to get to climb Mt Egmont, something I have wanted to do for a while now, even before I discovered Geocaching!
I was part of a great team of 3, the others being Stardust718 and Gr33nslime, so for most of our logging this weekend we simply signed ourselves as either "G.S.T" or "Team G.S.T" depending on size of log sheet.
This cache was one of a number which had been shortlisted as ones to try to find on our journey to the 'Naki, simply because it was directly on our route, or maybe had an high amount of FP's, or else an 'other' sized container.
The sun was most definitely setting when we arrived at GZ. We had been hoping to get to The Camphouse whilst we still had light so we were really hoping for a quick find here today. And by and large that's what we got. By pure chance I had parked right next to WA12, and apart from having to go back to the car to grab a torch it was otherwise a very quick find.
Thanks for placing this cache.

This weekend adventure had been 2 months in the making. An off the cuff comment made at a geocahing event late last year led to the planning and execution of a weekend in the Taranaki including summiting Mount Taranaki. I had a great time roadtripping and climbing with Gr33nslime and TwigNZ. We only collected 50 caches in total but had an amazing experience and saw some very unique hides. We logged our finds as team GST.

Getting close to our accomodation now and we parked up near GZ at 8:39pm. Had a brief look then returned to the car for torches. The hint object was easy enough to find but torches were definately needed to spot the container. Thanks for placing a cache here.

These westies (rebel98, rustynz and gorby) are on a caching adventure to New Plymouth and Wanganui
For some reason the car park was locked? although part of the track is closed, it should not have impacted on this part? but then this place is a little unusual, as down at the bottom was a security guard stopping vehicles going up the mountain, as the carpark gets to full! phew when did that happen? so many visitors, not enough spaces.
So with some nifty parking by rebel98, its a short walk to GZ. Yep I sent gorby off track, it seemed the right thing to do Also still recovering from a hand injury and this is day 1 of a 3 day adventure.
Thanks Phronimos for the hide, and bringing us here. The mountain looks amazing and is putting on a show

Another adventure for myself and rustynz and Rebel98. We have flown down from West Auckland this morning and this is a 3 day weekend of caching in New Plymouth and later Whanganui. We have a pile of mysteries to collect and a wad of field puzzle trads too.
It's about 2:30pm now, been a hard out day of caching so far. The mission at the moment is to cache around this side of the mountain before heading back into N.P. We're heading up and getting the 2 Earth Caches as well, one of which rusty has done but not Rebel.
Rebel managed to twist the rental close by for us, so me and rusty can shoot out for a quick find. A quick find it was once I found the hint item! Then because I have my boots on, I scrambled down for a closer look at said punga and found the cache! By the time I got back up rusty was taking fotos of the mountain, not a cloud anywhere, but also no snow!
Thanks Phronimos for the cache.

Very good. Sent gorby down for the retrieval. Car park looked and guard at bottom stopping cars
Meanwhile this is my third geocaching-trip to Middle-Earth . I love it! [:X]
And still there are routes and places in this beautiful country that are on the 'discover-me' list and want to be visited and explored.
E.G. Mount Taranaki, the beautiful volcano – had never been here before!
Day #9:
So today I took a trip with the red rental-cache-car, starting at New Plymouth and surrounding the big mountain clockwise .
Wanted to see all facets of the giant - and yes, there are many!
It was a great journey of about 180 kms, including the drive up to the visitors-centre .
Of course some hikes in the jungle below the mountain were on the list . Very much enjoyed the wilderness and great nature .
Along the route and at the mountain, I was happy to visit quite a few geo-treasures [^], just like this one:
A quick find based on the precise hint. Nice box in good condition [^]!
Thanks to the owner [:X] for placing and maintaining this cache and cheers from Germany!

Took longer than needed as a car parked direct in front of the hint so it was not visible first. Once spotted, it was an easy find.
On our 25th day in New Zealand we stayed in New Plymouth. The weather was still good in the morning and so we went straight to the Taranaki region. There were again two old caches still missing for our Jasmer statistic and also otherwise there are some great caches here. And of course Taranaki is such a special and fascinating mountain. We had to use the hint here to find the correct spot and then it was quite a fast find.

On our way up the mountain, MummyPenny had us stop for every find we could. We put this one back just as the skies opened with vengeance and we were quite wet after the dash back to the car. Thanks Phronimos.
I didn't expect to get many of the hidden creatures as there's not left for me close to home and it wasnt looking like I'd be able to get out of town. Yeti looked about as far as I would go but then my sister asked me to drive to Christchurch to pick up my neice for the school holidays, of course I said "only if I can have a day caching before going home, sorry no time for family this trip". This meant I reached dragon so I was happy with that. No problem finding the cache. Thanks Phronimos
