What an interesting road was sure I shouldnt be down here but then there it was!Beautiful place, thank you TeamAstro for placing this game piece here, showcasing this lovely area and contributing to this great game for myself and others to enjoy. Happy trails!
Interesting spot at posted coordinates.Found it after worked out last night.Went back today to find it.All good hereTFTH
#6104Just a couple more caches to go until I've found every cache on Norfolk Island. Out with Goldberry17. What an intriguing laneway. Cache found and log signed. Thanks TeamAstro.
In preparation for our NI GeoAdventure trip we had some puzzle solving nights back in Sydney over the last few months. This one proved to be rather tricky until we found the red herring. With that out of the way a solution presented itself and we were able to see where on the island GZ was located. It has taken nearly a week to get to GZ though but once there it was a quick find. This week has been a full moon so sadly we did not see all the stars we had hoped to from these dark South Pacific skies. My buddies: bella at waggyThank you TeamAstro, for creating, placing and maintaining this cache. I have enjoyed finding it and visiting this spot.Follow my story on Instagram @AlphaDeltaIndigo
Caching with ADI around Cascades this morning. The road was clearly not a primary road and passing meant pulling off into a drive way to let the egg lady past. The GPSr said one way by the hide was found on the other side of the road. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC
Found with Ris768 while travelling on Norfolk Island TFTCLog 3321Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache TeamAstro
Found during a week of geocaching on Norfolk Island with GeoMates. It was a successful week and an adventurous one. Thanks go to TeamAstro for placing this cache.
#7595 NI Day 4With no organised events until late this afternoon, we headed out after breakfast to focus on the north eastern part of the island. This was our last target for the morning and to be honest, without a smiley to chase, not sure we would have driven out this road Enjoyed solving the puzzle and getting our hands on the bounty at GZ.TFTC TeamAstro
OCW frazeydaze. A quick find after negotiating the cows and the bumpy road. TFTC TeamAstro.
Found with oldmorty.Needed a couple of prods to help solve the puzzle. Thanks to the CO for the puzzle and the cache.
First cache of the day. No problems with the info. Driving to the location almost looked like I was on a private road, lucky for the sign that said this was indeed a road. Interesting to see places on this island I would never have driven to, clever hide.
Day 6 of my Norfolk Island adventure. I can understand why people want to live here . Its a little bit of paradise. Wow so much history on the island, Im enjoying my wandering seeing the sites . Meet up with a local geocacher and he gave me a hint on how to solve this one. Some logs signed as N2OThis is my 12123find.Thankyou TeamAstro for placing and maintaining this cache
T-Tech and I are visiting Norfolk Island for our 40th anniversary. We arrived from Brisbane and are staying for 2 weeks at Endeavour Lodge, and plan to get some R&R, see all of the sites, learn the history, and gather every cache here so we can claim the Se Dun Challenge I had looked at this puzzle before we left home, but very quickly realised it required a visit to the posted co-ords, and I was not able to access that spot via Google Street View, so it was shelved for when we were here. Yesterday our host gave us a clue to get started, and we got some way into the puzzle, but sent out a PAF for more help from our host. Eventually T-Tech was able to make the numbers right.Today's plan is to visit this cache and the Cascade area. As we headed to GZ I was feeling very uncomfortable as it really felt like private property, but no-one was around so we stopped to make the find. Then with nowhere to turn around we continued onto the posted co-ords where I jumped out quickly for a photo, and we did not linger. TFTC, TeamAstro.
Over with IolantheK from Brisbane celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary [^]Out for another day of caching up the east side of the island this time.Puzzle; after a bit of a go I called in some help from Endeavour3 as a couple of anomalies just didn't make sense. Now on the right path the numbers made much more sense [^]Now for the cache finding; 11:00 seemed to be a good time to look for this one, not a single vehicle or person passed us whilst we looked and signed Nice easy find, Cache is dry and in good condition [^]TFTC TeamAstro
# 8967 Norfolk Day 4, team "Dem CBR" myself, iPlod65, Joolay, barb2e and contesta had another fantastic day of caching and exploration. Another day of hard climbs starting with a trip to Bird Rock. It's a steep walk down there and even harder back up. The rewards were there withe great views and some whales to watch. Then we headed over to Cascade Bay to grab the caches over there. It's a rough path to cascades along the cliffs but well worth the trip. This one proved troublesome for us. Firstly with an apparently cranky local at the first location, then trying to work out the answer. We got there in the end with some local help.Logs signed collectively "Dem CBR", which in local parlance is "them from Canberra".Thanks TeamAstro for the Mystery Cache
This was quite difficult to solve as some of the questions are ambiguous. Eventually got there with help. The owner of the place not happy we were there gathering info. We left because he wasnt going anywhere till we did. Went away to solve and came back later for the find as it was away from where the icon was.How exciting to be at Norfolk finally. This has been the plan for so long. Lovely to be here with Contesta, barb2e, Strangetrousers and IPlod65, signing as DEM CBRThanks for getting me out and about TeamAstro
Find # 10486Day 4 in Norfolk, here for a week of caching fun with geofriends Joolay, barb2e, StrangeTrousers, and iPlod. Zoom zoom zooming around in Kermit (green not red) Logging as DEMCBR.Wild and wooly weather here again today This was a quick and easy find and here at If its too misty to see the #Cathedral or the Sky today. Father Christmas indeed, though he was a bit grumpy when we visited. We collected the information and headed into town, via a few other caches, to conjugate a plausible solution. Got there in the end and off we went for the find. Thanks so much for the many caches TeamAstro and of course for giving me a reason and incentive to get out here, and to experience this part of the world in a different light
Found with the Canberra group on the 5th day of our Norfolk Island geocaching adventure. Day dawned wet but clear day now though still windy. Collected information required and retreated to coffee to calculate. Log signed as Dem CBR. Tftc

Deep into the extremities of a road / lane I would likely not have travelled while here, I found the information I needed to answer the questions. That was all for that visit which was earlier in the week.
Wind the clock forward, with a little more free time, a non-caching wife who was happy to read her book while I 'did my thing', I headed to GZ for a scout around. Hmm, not a lot of parking options, so I better be swift here I thought. Luckily, a tell tale sign was spotted as I approached from my u-turn and the cache was quickly revealed.
We won't talk about the school kids riding their motorbikes home from school who are clearly used to a car free lane on their journey. They got quite a shock when met by the Mighty Vitz, I can tell you.
Cheers TeamAstro.

It was very misty when it came to solving this puzzle. I could not have seen the sky without the assistance of Endeavour 3, the CO and chooknchunk. Found today on a day exploring NI via geocaching. TFTC
Worked out puzzle but GZ was unyielding. Found a possible site but bzzt. Have contacted CO, and he has given the OK to log. Nice puzzle too! Thanks.
Well I found it but didn't find it. Found a tether in a good hiding place at the correct coords and have reported the container missing - probably down a deep dark hole. Got the numbers ok from the gate but did have a little hint from e3 re what to do with the numbers. Tried a couple of on-line decode sites and found one which gave me plausible coords. An easy site find at gz as mentioned above. Tftc team astro and tnx e3.
An interesting puzzle, checked out the gates, it would be a nice place to stay. Looking for a small walk while isolating from people. Wazza9 made a quick find, we stamped the log and replaced. Thanks to CO
TFTC,
Day 5 on the Island and we needed to make it an easy day after walking the Bridel track to the Cook Monument yesterday.
We tried to solve this at home and couldn't get the correct answer. So we sent what we had to the CO and asked where we were wrong. Told we needed to go there and we would see our mistake. Went out this morning and checked everything. After a while, we had the correct answer and made our way there.
A local turned up and while not showing her where the hide was, we did ecplain what we were doing.
Visited trackables and added a favourite.

On 15 October 2022 a new batch of prisoners were shipped out of Brisbane to spend 7 days incarcerated on Norfolk Island. It has now been 4 nights and countless days into their sentence at Ocean Breeze Cottages.
Today the prison was allowed to had a solo day pass to explore the Island. Unfortunately night release was not approved as this period normally involved consumption of brewed substances in the proximity of the cottage goal.
Governor Astro provided some assistance to the prisoner prior to the voyage to NI. The long term prisoner E3 also helped out with final preparation. So down a narrow lane the prisoner set off, barely 2 horses wide in some places and a surface that near swallowed up his wagon.
It is unlikely even the guards would ever venture down these parts.

Made my way down a narrow, potholed road and just managed to park close to GZ. A little trouble making sense of the hint compelled me to resort to a PAF which suggested I was on the wrong side of road. Quick find after that and TFTC TeamAstro.
Time to head to Norfolk Island to celabrate our 70th birthdays. When we were here before we were not geocachers, this visit will be spent gathering geocaches and revisiting our favourite places. Our appologies for the generic logs it does not take away the enjoyment we have found in the fantastic places they have been placed and all the different styles of caches that we are enjoying,

Oh, no, that road again... took it really slowly this time and didn't bottom out on any of the humps

Found while out on a little cache drive with my Dad, had an amazing time picking up solved puzzles around the area. All these caches have taken us to every nook and cranny around the island and I’m really enjoying it so far!
After driving in, we realised that this ones puzzle was at our cottages front gate, which was convenient, but that wasn’t the end of it. We still needed to work out the coordinates. After pondering we eventually messaged endeavour3, who gave us a big nudge to which we found the cache.

With fading light in the late afternoon, we headed out again to grab some newly solved puzzles, finishing in the dark up an 'impassable when wet' track - that's a fun afternoon!
I looked at this puzzle before we left home, noted we needed info from GZ, and left it, thinking it would be simple on arrival... hmmmm. We got the info, mostly (watch for gold herrings) then hadn't a clue what to #do. Eventually some hints were obtained and the coords found - I like this puzzle type, and I'm hoping I'll do better if one comes up again...
At GZ we spooked a calf who shot off into the bush, before we eventually found the cache in the cathedral on the other side of the road... TFTC!

On our way into town this morning for a cuppa and we took a detour to find this cache - if only we had waited till later in the day when the mist was hanging around some of the headlands. Thanks for the puzzle TeamAstro.
Out caching this morning and arrived at GZ . Parked the car and had to walk back where I found the cache. TFTC TeamAstro
That’s an interesting puzzle. Numbers all sorted and we eventually made our way to GZ.
Now that’s a good hide.
All is well with the cache here.
Thank you for adding more fun to our day.

Aquilus1 and myself were on a mission: Go to Norfolk Island and clear the place out in 48 hours! This we achieved as we arrived well prepared, having ground out the puzzles (some with assistance) so that we had coords for nearly all hides before leaving Australia.
Brain tickler test & vaccination certificates in hand, we were shocked on arrival that our Australian mobiles had no roaming coverage....NONE! But, thankfully it seems most accommodation not only comes with a car, but comes with a phone as well.
I swear we did at least 5 laps of the island, I knew my way around very well by the end. NI is such a beautiful place, I am coming back with the family in a month and I already know exactly where I will take them.
On our first day we hosted an event and thankfully the local legend cacher, endeavour3, graced us with his presence. Some sage advice on the trickiest of NI hides was gladly received
And, it has to be said......OMG THE HUMIDITY!!! Canberra has none at all, it was a major shock to the system!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quick retrieve at GZ..... only speed bumps on the island on the way to this one I seem to recall!

Funny but someone has taken slowing the already slow traffic with there traffic calming measures, not sure our little car wanting to tap the top of them helps keep the dust away but we went with it as was required. Nice hide here.
Trip log: Norfolk Island... Not something we had been planning to do but with GreyHams noticing travel here was starting up again, a good deal on flights and that this would count as a new caching 'country' this was indeed a very tempting location to visit.
Puzzles were solved, our double vaccinations certificates ready to go. A last minute change in the entry requirements added our PCR tests... but we arrived.
We had a challenge to collect as many of the caches as we could in the 48 hours we would be on the Island... A caching trip, but one that guided us around into every hidden gem the Island had to offer. All its beauty, history, scenic and quirky... and moisture! Humidity that sucked the energy out of every pore as we sweated our way about, but it was awesome!
An event the first evening was fantastic to meet with endeavour3, a wealth of local knowledge and assistance... both caching and the local area. It was great to confirm details, amend as needed and with a few DNFs help us back on track.
An honourable mention to the cows, especially the one that licked all over the car, the feral chickens (but not the roosters that wake up far to early and noisily) and the very friendly waving people everywhere we went!
Thanks for your cache that helped guide us about, and can all the caches be found within 48 hours... I'm very pleased to say that yes we could!

Solved back in NZ thanks to Duncan's helpful pics. What a great name for a cache. We had a great drive around enjoying the island, the good weather and better company. T4tc
This was an interesting location to get to. Narrow road but we'll worth the drive. Thanks for the puzzle and the cache. All is well
We understood what we were dealing with here, so were very pleased with ourselves when we managed to reverse engineer the coordinates for this cache from home without any information from the published coordinates.
Today we drove down the narrow road to make the find, ducking into a handy driveway when another car approached. Thanks for an interesting puzzle cache.

This was another one I needed help with as puzzles do my head in if I cant figure out what to do. Thanks to Jude-E and others who helped set me straight and make the find.
So pleased no cars came along. A sneaky little hiding place! A very challenging cache with a great finish. Thank you, TeamAstro.

Thanks again to endeavour for helping with the puzzle. This little road reminded us of Dili in Timor Leste. Another innovative cache by Astro ??. Thanks
I parked and made a quick find of the cache in the neat hiding place. Then I returned to the car and started a u-turn, just as a car came along the road. I backed back as far as I could, but it was a tight squeeze for two cars. Some narrow roads on this island. TFTC TeamAstro.
We headed off looking for this cache and at first thought we were heading onto private property. All was good. Came across traffic on this narrow road! Signed the log as Lloyd Crew. Tftc Team Astro.

Norfolk mystery caches have really taught me some very interesting things and this was another mystery on a topic I'd never heard of. Endeavour3 helped me out a bit and then it was an easy find once I figured it all out. 15 caches have sprouted up since my last visit and I've found 'em all. With 55 finds now, I'm the top finder on Norfolk Island ????
This one nearly had us beaten. Only learners with puzzle caches and tried on our own. Got all the details but could not convert them. The wonderful Endevour 3 helped us and voila cache in hand! Another great day of cache hunting marvelling at amazing views, and now for a read and a cup of tea! Tftc

Justjessie and I made a late decision to spend a week holidaying on Norfolk. A quick check of the caching map revealed the "Se Dun challenge" The local term for completing something, so we set about "completing" all 53 caches on the Island. Can't be that hard can it....?
Three trips done the bumpy road to find this one, could have easily been done in two if we hadn't gone off on the wrong tangent with the numbers we collected. With a quite hint from a local the rest of it was easy.
Each log has a random picture from our time on the Island, we would recommend it to other cachers as a great way to spend a week, getting to know the Island the people and their heritage.

Find 12 of 12 on our fourth and last day of caching on beautiful Norfolk Island - ending with a full set!
The listing will remain one of those little mysteries but the cache find has been made, hurrah. Took our trip out to the gates yesterday and only when back at our lodgings did we find that the final was in a familiar spot which lent itself to being our last physical find on the island. Mrs. O. made the u turn while Mr. O. jumped out for the find in an inventive spot.

That turned out to be a bit of a mission and we were a little concerned about the road but it was all good in the end. We did see some mist which turned out to be an enormous multiple spiders web stretching over several bushes and trees. It was quite amazing and there were dozens of spiders in it, some of which were quite large.

Traveled out to the posted coordinates and gathered all the info we needed... headed back to our accommodation so we had access to the internet but turns out we needed a bit of a push in the right direction. Once we had the final coordinates the cache was fairly straight forward to find. Another good brain workout!
It was Bounty Day, and after participating in the morning parade with my 2 grandsons I was relaxing at home. What's this I spy on the map. A new mystery cache and no notification.
First job was to visit GZ and gather the clues. After a few minutes I had the answer to XYZ.
But what to do with the rest of it? It seems that there is early shorthand version of writing coordinates that I had never heard of despite solving hundred's of puzzles. It was close to midnight when the geochecker agreed with my answer. Do I run out in the middle of the night to claim the FTF or wait until morning. Wait, if I go now it could be very spooky. There could be ghosts & night spiders or every some noob cachers out there.. I decided to take the chance and wait until sunrise. Around 07:00 I had the cache in hand. [FTF] Another First to Find and to celebrate I had a freshly baked Hot Cross bun washed with a large Flat White.
