In all our travels we would not have even thought to travel to this location. (HaHa). In your dreams, these cachers do. [:(!] Thanks for an awesome effort. Devilish Brilliant and Clever I like it Another one off the list TTBLNSL TFTC/TFTH/TFBUH - Snorksfest [^]
Found the spot but couldnt find the cache, could have been due to being colourblind.
Colour stands out. Quick find and good to see crater. Warning someone has relieved themselves in this area
Grabbed this one during the geotour! Spotted from above, retrieved from below! Wolly loved the tree!TFTC. At a leap year event in Tailem Bend we were alerted to the fact the Ballarat Geotour had been extended! How AWESOME as we thought we would miss it!Hurrily finding caches before it closes Monday!Setting up camp for a week in Murray Bridge before the MEGA for 29th Feb!Moving to Ballarat for another week afterwards. Last hurrah travelling before wooding season at home starts!Happy caching and safe travels!

6 months ago, during a frenzy, we said to ourselves "why not going to the mega in Adelaide for the leapday". From scratch we moved on to prepare an 18-days project in Australia. Our objectives are simple, visit a small part of this immense continent while validating a few caches. There are so many caches (impossible to do everything) that we will select only few of them. Our plan will allow us to visit Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Mount Gambier and finish in Adelaide for the Mega, which was initially our aim.During our stay we will log PestiHoot for Pestinette and Blackhoot.During Blackhoot's event, "Auvergnats in Australia #2", McLookers told us about Ballarat's geotour caches. It was a great suggestion for our Sunday schedule. So departure at 8am from Melbourne, to spend the day in Ballarat, we will target geotours and a few extras. As the caches are far away, we will need a good day to turn them yellow. This will allow us to visit different spots in Ballarat. Thanks to the owners for the caches and the discovery of places.Thank you McLookers for this advise.
The pressure is on to complete the Ballarat Geo Tour Logged the rest of the outlying caches today. Then things got stormy and I retreated Only a handful to do now. This was a bonus find on a relaxing walk thru here TFTC Snorkafest
Out and about cleaning up the rest of the GeoTour today, B & C finished off what we needed and managed to pick up a few extra caches while we were at it, this was one of those. A great spot for a cache, definitely couldve been bigger! Was a bit of a mission to get to it even though we could easily see it. Not sure if that was the correct spot or not but we replaced it as found. TFTC!
A beautiful walk to GZ and thanks to the hint, we knew exactly what approach was required to find this cache. I stood back and watched Steve perform his balancing act skills and the cache was soon found without any mishaps occurring.Thank you Snorkafest.
Touring around on a georoad trip with Jack and Purrfect Di. Every day is a Caching Day - [:o)]Just a quick detour from the nearby geotour caches! Thanks Snorkafest for this cache hide and ongoing care and maintenance ---------------- ----------------------In a dangerous world filled with rusty old mint tins and solid caches falling from trees - - - a cache a day keeps us agile... sort of --------Caches are logged using the resources of gsak, garmin, and androids, occasionally AI too! (And a little rubber stamp ) Work gets in the way - and some may take longer to log than others due to mixed technology and need for sleep! The skill and talent of some Zenior Zombies helps, and maybe a spot of luck too [:o)]----------Cache carefully and make sure Travel Bugs are the Only bugs you share and pass on Clean as you go and cache the countryside Big thanks to those placing quality caches out and about around our country areas, in nice safe places and containers especially! - it keeps our game fun for all Of course we do appreciate if you actually did read all this extra addition to the log word count! There's a challenge somewhere out there, or so we've been told! You win a virtual smiley for the effort and getting to the end of the log Maybe if I worked out where it is I could do it and go back to normal logs again ! If you find the challenge let me know and perhaps we can put an end to these long logs !!! Maybe not though - as someone actually did read to the end and alerted me to just a project GC badge that requires long logs [:o)] Well at least it's not as bad as finding a mint tin! Did you get that... stop putting out rusty mint tins, just stop it, now!!! C'est fini... For now... ... until tomorrow! Viva Mexicana ! Thanks for the caches beyond the wall [:o)] But there's no place like home! PS:---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------GCA1DNA - Great Leap Forward ... or is it backward... it takes an extra day to get to March 29.2.24 The Mega Leap Event of the year. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------And don't forget to put the SA June Long Weekend in your diary for 2024 too... fun and funky finding with a little competition too
We had a small gap in our retirement schedule and managed to sneak over to complete the geotour - previously we had only found one out at Learmonth. The tour took us to some familiar places but also to some new ones.Thank you to the team especially those who put quite a bit of effort into the containers.
After a lunchtime event in Buninyong I was determined to find the three caches along this trail. It was a hot afternoon, but the track was generally well shaded. Accessing the cache was quite a challenge, but the coordinates led us too it. Luckily I had the more agile Nirgiligrin with me who saved me from making the more perilous route to the cache. Great location, but way more difficult terrain than T2, for this 70 yr old with dicky knees. I still loved the cache.
On a wet and cold summers day jaamc33-35 and us decided to attempt the geo tours this was the second find for the day, a nice quick find, thanks for placing it
In Ballarat to complete the Geo tour before it is finished. We also found a few more caches that were near by. Unfortunately we were unable to complete the whole tour so we will have to come back to finish it off. This was a nice easy find TFTC
I can agree that avoiding rainy days would be a good idea as it was a bit of balancing act.. This is really a bonus as the Geotour that is the lure is 5 hours from home base so it was a case of will I regret it, Im in Melbs and its only a wee detour to finish the last 18 - yes Id only completed 7 so a spontaneous decision saw me on a mission leaving marvellous Melbs a tad late. The mission included a promise to self about no geo distractions and total self discipline for the first time ever - only snacks and no stopping, no picking up other solved puzzles and no spontaneity for 6 hours did it with an efficient plan. TFTC and the FUN and the location.
Last day for the assault on the Ballarat Geotour with isopeda. Lots of rain overnight but dry at the moment even if we can't see anything in the fog. Tftc
It's flat she said. It will be ok, she said. The last bit was a bit challenging in the wet with dodgy knees and recovering from an ACL reconstruction, but we found it. Still looking up in the hope to spot a Koala. TFTC *Found with [Geooh GO](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobiltal.geoohGO)*
Thanks for the cache although my brother did get stuck in a weird spot it was a funny and good experience
Found during my roadtrip from Canberra to do the Ballarat GeoTour. I made it harder than it needed to be to get to the correct elevation for this one but the cache was found soon enough. TFTC!
Caching from ACT to WA via Ballarat to finish the geotour. TFTC. A nice hike around the mountain.
I was in the grabbing some caches and this was next on the target list. This one eluded me for about 5 minutes - but I eventually came up with the prize. I had kind of looked in areas that would hide a sistema - but it seems the container has changed at some stage. I signed the log and re-hid the cache as found. A good little reason for a stop. TFTC Snorkafest
A few spare days to fill before Christmas so I made the decision to hit the road and go on a road trip from Adelaide to Ballarat. The main purpose of the trip is to tackle the Ballarat Geo Tour before they get archived in February 2024. Day two was spent around Gong Gong Reserve, Kirks Reservoir, Mount Warrenheip, Buninyong, and surrounding reserves. Quite a busy day. Found without problems after getting reading the hint. Thanks for the cache Snorkafest.# # #13700 # #
Found it out and about with Annabella02, for the Ballarat Geo Tour , great day for a walk , tftc
Day out caching with sassieold55, our goal was to finish the Ballarat Geo Tour, we decided to pick this one up as well. Enjoyed the walk around the crater. TFTC
Last day. In Ballarat already, after two days of ordinary weather today is a lovely day with perfect caching conditions. A few more geotour caches to do and lots of labs in town are good for the numbers. Thoroughly enjoyed today, thanks to the local community for putting out all these caches.TFTC Wilbert67
Our last day in Ballarat , the weather has been a little challenging. A few more geotour caches to do and lots of labs and traditional. Ballarat and the surroundings are a great location to cache. Thanks to all the COs for their placements
Today we explored Ballarat and surrounds using geocaching as a guide. We enjoyed travelling through the countryside and visiting new, to us, locations. We found a variety of hides with varying degrees of difficulty. Many thanks to all CO's for your cache placement.
Time to walk the plank.. found this cache in the second place I looked ...would have been a magnificent sight when it was standing.
Up in Ballarat for the GeoTour and other caches with Crusty Varmint and Bemused Keith. Thanks to Snorkafest for placing and maintaining this cache - it was a lovely stroll on a gorgeous Spring day.regardskbucky
Ballarat Geo-Tour TripDay #3 of 4 (17/9)Another great weather day for caching. Todays mission is to complete the Geo-tour, visit Sovereign Hill and find as many other caches as possible. I started by heading to Buninyong and finding some cache around there. Next I headed up Mt Buninyong to find the caches up there which included two of the Geo-tour caches. Then it was time to head up to the Woorookarung Lookout. Afterwards, I headed down the hill to visit Sovereign Hill and of course the cache. After about 4 hours of seeing the sights, I headed off and collected some WIGs, solved mystery caches, challenge caches and an old multi. It was a great day out and now time to get some sleep, so I can be ready for the long drive home. Im so happy that I have completed the Geo-tour. Thanks for the awesome series and I want to return to Ballarat to find some more caches (but it may be a long while). TB visit. I would like to thank all COs of the caches I found today and for allowing them to bring the Geocaching community enjoyment. TFTCs I decided on walking past the two Geo-tour caches for the return trip and came to this one first. After the nice walk, I found myself at GZ and got started searching. A quickish find here. I had to wait to return it due to muggles walking past. Now time to head back to the Earth cache. Thanks for bringing me here.
Kbucky and I had discussed a visit to Ballarat to do the GeoTour some time ago. Unfortunately, our first attempt had to be postponed, but now we are here to complete our mission. We have been joined by a friend, Bemused Keith, who enjoys our antics.Being nearby, Kylie took a walk further up the track to spy out the terrain. She picked a suitable parking spot that gave me a shorter walk to GZ, for which I was grateful. She even clambered in to grab the container. Its a lovely area up here. Thanks Snorkafest.
Woo, tree climbing, kinda of. I had fun, spotted, signed and replaced whilst small person stayed on the track keeping look out for nope-ropes. TFTC
Came to Ballarat to do the Geo tour and grabbed the cache from 2001 just up from tower.
Grabbed this one while here.
Sl thanks for the cache.

Got back to the car after doing the earth cache before we realised we missed this cache so drove round to another entrance to the track and came in. Relatively quick find. Tftc
We parked our car at the suggested waypoint, and followed the trail upwards in order to target the two [Ballarat GeoTour](https://coord.info/GT4A1) geocaches, but then extended our walk to this location before U-turning. We searched around on the main log for a good 5-10 minutes, and I was beginning to think that I'd be leaving a frowny face here. Just as I was having my final looks, I ended up finding a well-hidden container that turned out to be the original container and logbook, last dated in 2018? From going through the geocache's history, it appears to have been replaced by the CO on 2/07/2019 as per their [enable listing log](https://coord.info/GLZ2V6WY). I did spend some time trying to understand the hint and searching, but I guess I fluked the original instead. The cache container and logbook were still in good shape, although the logbook was damp. Thanks Snorkafest for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.
Note that this geocache was logged with the *Team Warren* Davidwazza/[jesswrigley](http://coord.info/PRNW59T) stamp.

This extended weekend, [jesswrigley](http://coord.info/PRNW59T), infant Cottontail and I were visiting Ballarat from Brisbane, targeting the [Ballarat GeoTour (GT4A1)](https://coord.info/GT4A1). Highlights included the historical architecture, buildings, and artwork/sculptures of inner Ballarat, Ballarat Botanic Gardens, Lake Wendouree, Sovereign Hill, Eureka Stockade, and mountains Mount Buninyong and Mount Warrenheip. We were lucky to have great weather with no rain and mostly blue skies each day, which aided our enjoyment of our trip. Apart from the targeted GeoTour geocaches, our geocaching has largely been opportunistic following tourist sights and attractions, although we attempted/targeted higher D-T combinations from solved puzzles, and rare cache types like virtual caches, Letterbox Hybrid caches, and Adventure Labs.
Today, the family commenced the day with a visit to Victoria Park and attending Prince of Wales parkrun. After grabbing coffees at the Boatshed Restaurant on Lake Wendouree, we then headed to Ballarat East to make a quick visit at Eureka Stockade, and then visited Sovereign Hill. The themed buildings, horse-drawn carriages and an underground mining visit were our highlights.
In the afternoon, we headed south-east to continue visiting locations from the [Ballarat GeoTour](https://coord.info/GT4A1), visiting Woowookarung Regional Park collecting challenge caches and walking the Dementia Friendly Forest and Sensory Trail, and then proceeded to Mount Buninyong. A very interesting volcanic cone, and great views from the summit lookout tower. We then proceeded back towards Ballarat via Buninyong and Buninyong Cemetery, and had dinner at Golden Point Hotel where infant Cottontail thoroughly enjoyed the indoor soft play area.

i live incredibly close to buninyong but for some reason, i've never been to mount buninyong!! as of recently though i've already gone about 3 times in a week. safe to say there will be more:)

This wasn't in my list today, but deanside and I were so close, we couldn't leave without a quick stroll to get it. It took a while to find, glad deanside found it. A good hide, thanks, we needed the hint.
Found on a nice walk up the mountain. Of course Elliot found a treasure. See pic attached.
A lovely cold and drizzle day to go for a nice little walk. After leaving I read some previous logs, and now I am not sure if I found the true cache or a replacement one. Thanks for the cache and a nice walk
Out today for the Mount Buninyong then the Union Jack Reserve caches. The plan is to start at the bottom and walk them all. Then the same for Union Jack. The sun is shining so not too bad a day. Nice quick find, log and return to its spot, but I found the old cache and log. I hope that counts as that is the one I signed
Thanks for the cache Snorkafest

Found today while in Ballarat as a few days away targeting the Geo Tour and also a few adventure lab caches while we were nearby. This was also a trad we made the most of grabbing while in the area, found after a short search, thanks Snorkfest for the hide and the walk.
Plenty of laughs and fun were had in Ballarat, catching up with Happy pants and Omegaman1971 for a few days. Our main focus will be the Geo tour, but will take the opportunity to grab any other caches along the way.
This was one of the hides we found after enjoying the walk.
Thanks for placing this hide and doing the maintenance, so we can make this find.

scramping & I made our way to Ballarat for the long weekend on a mission to complete the Geotour after floods & crazy weather restricted us from completing it last time we were here in November 2022.
With the Geotour complete we continued our walk along the crater track. It was a perfect day for a walk. The cache was found after a short search.

Found with hevwalker today on a beautiful day to complete the GeoTour. Whoo Hoo we did it!!!
Loved walking around this crater checking out all the gorgeous natural wonders of this part of the world. We arrived at GZ and thought the best way was for hevwalker to take the search in the lower section and myself I went high. Felt a bit like a mountain goat...lol. Working together we soon narrowed our search to retrieve the cache, sign and replace it as found before any muggles appeared. Thanks for the serenity and exercise..... over 18,000 steps today. A good rest tonight to continue tomorrow.

I was here doing the GeoTour and thought I’d grab this one, but it eluded me. But that’s ok as it was a beautiful day to wander around down here, up at the lookout it is blowing a gale!
Another visit required another day.

We found it lying on the ground (like rubbish) next to its newly chosen place. Tried to place it on the marker .

A tree planting event in Creswick and a GeoTour meetup by Kirks Reservoir, with some high quality smileys in between, and there's plenty of daylight left for more adventures...
Oh... It's Earthcache weekend...
So how about adding to the GeoTour tally with a trek up the Mount?
With what I hope is all I need to log the Earthcache in hand, I took a detour around the corner.
A sneaky hide, Snorkafest. Gotta say I'm glad I had the whole thing to myself while I was failing to look in the right place, but hey, that just means finally spotting the thing is all the more satisfying.
Now for the fun bit: the walk to the tower at the top.

In Ballarat for the Anzac Day long weekend, and to grab some more of the Ballarat GeoTour plus other caches and Ad Labs that take our fancy. A short hike up from the carpark had us passing by here, then being lazy and thirsty, we completed the crater walk loop and headed for the pub. Thanks Snorkafest for the placement and the fun. Found this one on the ground in a fairly open place. Signed it and placed it where we thought it should be.
Today we focussed on finishing off the Ballarat Geo Tour so it was a day we were all over the place collecting the remaining ones and any other caches we came near on the way. This had us out in the bush and in suburbia, but there were some great hides found.
With work encouraging us to take some holidays and Mr SKI having quite a few weeks up his sleeve it was time to take another short break and do some sightseeing and caching in parts of Victoria we seldom visit.
This time we decided it would be Ballarat. There is a wide variety of cache types and quite a number of Adventure Labs to do, so the area is quite attractive. And that doesn't include the historical and interest aspects as well.
We organized to meet up with some friends while there so we would have the opportunity to do some joint as well as solo caching.
We have already had some great adventures on a few challenging caches that generated a lot of fun and as usual always good to find some pre-solved puzzles.
All logs signed as SKI Pair, RASP (Rebel Acts & SKI Pair or SP depending on size of logs and availability of space.
Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache Snorkafest.

Having breakfast this morning and planning on doing a walk/cache suddenly a message come through from my caching buddy kenare. So the plan was to meet here and knock these off. Nice to turn a frown upside down. Tftc
Watch your step those logs are slippery. Started searching on the wrong area before gps settled.
Thanks Snorkafest for the cache.

Perfect weather for me to visit Ballarat for the day and do the GeoTour series. Nice walk on tracks for good exercise around Mt Buninyong. Nice and found. Thanks Snorkafest for bringing me here.

In Ballarat for one thing..... geotour.
Our aim was to get around the tour in one day. We started at 8am and after getting all the tour cache and a few up on Mt Buninyong, we had the tour done and even had time to get to the arvo event just after 4pm.
We started with the ones in town first to limit the muggle activity and this worked out well. And the day even put on the the perfect weather for being out walking the bush tracks.
Today took me around many places I had visited before both for previous caches and even before I knew about Geocaching. But there were a couple of new spots that were quite cool to visit.
In our travels we only came across 6 other teams out and about.
Another one off the tour list. Seeing as we had walked to the Earth Cache we decided to go a little further to grab this trad.

In Ballarat today for a CITO and another event for the awesome Geotour. In between these two events, we headed to Mount Buninyong to chase more caches from the tour and a few others that we could fit in! Cool tree! Thanks for the cache Snorkafest.

Catching up with late logs.
Having three events in Ballarat in one day as well as a Geo Tour that we hadn't started yet we decided to head up on the Friday and grab a few of the Geo Tour and it would also save us from getting up super early to attend the first event.
We decided to start with the caches on Mt Bunninyong and after stopping for the earth cache answers we headed here. We had been warned in a conversation earlier that this was a very tricky find and had a PAF standing by if we needed it. Fortunately we got there and located the cache exactly where the GPSr said that it should be in a very logical location. Speaking to the team later on we feel that this one may have been moved from it's original hide, not sure if it was the CO or some one trying to help out with a throw down but now our name is in the log along with many others.
Many thanks for the cache and a walk in a great spot.

Well done to all those involved getting the GEO Tour up and running.

*Staying in Ararat for a few days*
Found as I toured around the area cleaning up the last of the BGT caches and the occasional cache as I passed. Travelled through some beautiful areas today many of which I had to myself today.
A beautiful time of year with all the trees in colour and everything lush and green. I have seen many beautiful areas around this fantastic area. Good co-ords made for a fairly quick find.
**Warning**, *this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise.*
Thanks for the cache Snorkafest. Appreciate your efforts.

Out on another geocaching adventure with Stemicmitsar today out west to Ballarat for the day to attend the event. With geotour being the main goal for the day. With some additional detours around due to me saying that we may as well because it is only around the corner. Eitherway had a great day and can't wait to come back. Thanks for the cache and the adventure.

Enjoying a few days staying in the area enjoying the sights and trying to collect some specific D/T, older dated, BGT and solved puzzle caches.
This cache was another enjoyable cache that we were happy to add to our find list.
Thank you for highlighting this walking track with your cache.

No joy for me today. Spent a fair amount of time looking, but nothing. Thanks for the hunt.
A camping road trip with Papi4506, Geoturtle37 and RoamingHowie, exploring Ballarat and surrounds, with focus on the new Geotour, the Goldfields Track and various solved puzzles.
Day Two...
After our second dnf here yesterday, we left feeling that this was to become our new nemesis.
A couple of conversations with previous finders gave us some hope for today.
Back for another look, and bingo!
Finally! Convert to smiley!
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache, Snorkafest
