NZ_B and I are on a road trip to the Geo Toroa Mega. I'm also hoping to get a multi everyday, so it is now titled the "Mega Multi Road Trip". Today is Day 3 and our second day in Christchurch. This cache was one on our journey. Took a bit of searching before the find was made. It's nice to have a trip where alongside targeted caches we also take time to find one's on a whim or ones that take a bit longer. We have all day and the caches are calling...

Quack, quack, quack. It took a wee while to spot this cache, but perseverance was the name of the game here. A muggle on a walk was quite interested in what I was doing and was I ok -well, I did have my head down, rear end in the air and I was near water .TFTC Sambolini. And so 7 days after returning home from a five month trip to the UK and Europe, I am off on another trip. This time its within New Zealand as Itchyfeet2020 and I are on our mega road trip to Dunedin. We are focussing on particular caches for various challenges, as well as having a great lot of fun and seeing the scenery in our wonderful land. -LET US HAVE A BLOCK PARTY!!!On May 3rd, 2025, we will be celebrating 25 years of geocaching in Rotorua, New Zealand with a special Block Party event. Join us to celebrate 25 years of this amazing game, and that the very first geocache hidden outside of the United States, 25 years ago, was hidden here in New Zealand. You do not want to miss this event, so check out the "[GCAKR25](https://coord.info/GCAKR25) 25 Years of Geocaching NZ! event page, the [event website](http://25years.geocache.nz/) for more details, join the [Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/groups/924894455969387) group, and sign up to the [email list](http://25years.geocache.nz/?p=4) to get updates...If you intend to come, please make sure you get your "Will Attend" log onto the page as soon as you can in order to assist with planning the first ever Block Party in New Zealand.-

I've been here before for an unsuccessful search so thought I'd have another go. Had a long look around 3 potential sites that matched the hint but nothing. Read some logs but again came away empty handed. No idea about this one!

I obviously don't have my brain tuned to Christchurch hides.... Nice location though, but no ducks spotted!

13-Dec-23
The log was way too wet to sign, but we found the cache anyway. Excellent hide, nearly had us stumped! TfTC.

12-Dec-23
Have looked for this one before but got fixated on what seems like the obvious spot but isn't. Having read previous logs which suggested feeding ducks not trolls, I returned this evening and made a quick find. The logbook is in need of some TLC. TFTC.

That’s where it was this whole time????!!!

Guys. This cache. I’ve had more attempts on this cache than any other by a lot. Pushing double digits. I have made this one a stop on many a caching expedition, trip to the dentist, grocery store run, and Sunday morning bike ride. Some of my caching friends have witnessed some comical acrobatics as I went over this area inch by inch. I know more about this little plot of land than I do my own backyard.

I decided today was the day. I would not be defeated.

So as I sat there feeling defeated I took a careful look from a distance. I saw a thing! Maybe it’s there! Turns out it wasn’t but as I scrambled away from said thing I uncovered the cache with my foot.

Success! My DNF avenging tour continues!

What a lovely spot!!!

After establishing that the cache is not a troll, my coords still wouldn't settle so I stood back, used my and geosense and soon spotted a likely possibility....

Muggle gardeners and builders working nearby meant I had to act casual- taking a scenic rest to reach down and retrieve the cache.
Container is now a film canister.

Bag is wet and the logbook is damp but quite able to be signed.

01-Apr-20
Taking in mind the capabilities of ducks nowadays, it took us a few minutes to find the right spot. But there it was. TFTC

26-Mar-20
Todays walk in the beautiful weather took us to Abberley park. Very few people around because of the curfue.

Continued west to get closer to the ducks. After a short walk we found the small bridge and started looking for a hide. Thought it should be difficult, but found the wet container within a minute. Left it to dry for a while and then put it back where it belonged.

Thanks for the cache!

Greetings from Sweden.

Thank you for this cache says Pöni.

13-Jan-20
First day back to work after a summer vacation, I decided we should keep on looking for geocaches. On the way back from preschool we stopped to look at the truck digging. A lot of trees have been removed in the area. I sit and find the cache in just a second. Wow, after not finding it two times... I guess it's my gift for making it through the first day back at work... Container is in good condition. Logbook is moldy, I let it dry a bit in the sun, while little one was looking at the digger. Thanks for placing this here!

After a couple of rainy and cold days, it turns out all sunny and warm, so I decided to take a walk in the St Albans and Merivale areas. Last time I was here for the super long cache adventure alongside the Strovan stream, and left several caches unfound along the way.

Last time here I took nearly 15 mins to search but no luck. Somehow today I sensed where it could've been and headed directly to it, bingo! cache at hand! It was less than 30s.

TFTC!

31-Aug-19
A cooperative find here where a number of Canty cachers made the discovery for us to share. Tftc to both the placer and the finder.

31-Aug-19
Called in here with grandchildren Genevieve and Joel after attending the event. Took a bit of searching and thinking, and suggestions by Genevieve and Joel, but, in the end, Rodney found the hiding place and the container. We did see one duck! That is for the cache. Rodney and Iris.

31-Aug-19
I searched for this one before a nearby event unsuccessfully. After the event Jude_E, RandD, Warfi and ivss_xx watched. I was kind of guided to finding it. Thanks Sambolini for placing this geocache 7628 find for me.

Sadly there was no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. New Zealand will have another large event in 2020 in Auckland.
======== NZ Mega 2020 ========
Planning for the NZ Mega 2020 event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. Thanks for hiding this geocache.

31-Aug-19
Was meeting a bunch of keen searchers after nearby event, but I got here before them and found some other lovely people already there. Thanks for the fun

18-Aug-19
Searched down, and up, and around for about 20 minutes with junior cacher. No luck today for us - elusive cache!

14-Aug-19
Found cache quickly safe and sound despite the last two dnf's. Looked around for somewhere that matched the hint and voila.

03-Aug-19
Today, we went on a bike ride to grab some caches. We were not fortunate, and found only 3/8. This looked as a tricky one, as many previous cachers took several visits to find it. As we didn't find a lot today, we decided we would come back on a luckier (or at least better geocaching sense) day. We couldn't spot any ducks either.

19-Jul-19
Weather and time restraints were against us but still had a pretty decent search.

After the event in town this morning, mum and I went for a wee drive to find some more caches while the whole world was still sleeping.

We aimed for some high muggle zones, and some that were new & on the way home.

Good to find this after a DNF a couple weeks ago! Can't believe I missed it!

TFTC!! Smile

23-Jun-19
Since we were already up (mostly) and about so early in the morning, we decided to go and find some caches of course with daughter! We were encouraged by a recent find. I was stuck under the bridge when daughter, who dnf'ed it before, yelled out that she's got it. TFTC!!

16-Jun-19
Back out again after an early morning dash to Abberly Park for the new cache there. No ducks in sight on this cold foggy morning. I was surprised to find the log in the first place I checked. TFTC # 13,960

10-Jun-19
Nope. No luck. Spent forever, but still couldn't find it! I swear I looked in every angle possible!

25-May-19
No luck with this one. Carried on to CCMC.

23-May-19
Today is a calendar day for both StreetWalkerNZ and me, so we set out after dinner to find a couple of caches. Our first stop of the evening, the new adventure cache, successfully resulted in a find at the first WP, but for yesterday, not today. Grrr!
We changed tack, and decided to look for a couple trads instead. This was the first and fortunately, SW had sussed out the hide on an earlier scouting mission, so it wasn't a difficult find in the dark. Sat on the handy seat to do the paperwork.
No ducks tonight, perhaps all tucked up in bed. TFTC.

23-May-19
#17168. Needed a couple of caches after work. Luckily I had scouted out the location of this cache on a daytime visit some time back, so it wasn't too hard to find in the dark. TFTC.

22-May-19
Found this one while in ChCh for a week with my daughter.

Tftc, 3rd time lucky, I think the best clue is the title of the name, I over thought it the first two visits

Oh goodness... was trying to show my brothers girlfriend how fun geocaching was and we had gone 0 for 2.. started getting a lil frustrated but then spotted the little piece out of place:) thanks for the hints!
