By my calculations this is my 500th Tankengine cache find. Woohoo. Now on wards to 1000. Or at the very least the top 10 finders list. Thank you TS for taking me on so many adventures and so many interesting places. Its been so great to see your craft develop over the years and I must say the style of hides covers off the critical aspects of an enjoyable find. Great themes. Always an interesting location, a stirdy dry and wired down to stop wondering and who could forget the double barrel names. Thanks so much for the fun!!!y While I was here writing in the log a little troop of piglets wandered past behind me. The things you see! I think we can rename this to piggy parade....

A short drive around the back of the Cotter on a gloomy day. This cache was a short walk in from the nearby road, and the container was found quickly in a likely spot. Log's in good, dry condition.

Thanks, Tankengine.

Next stop on my run...and I know I've driven out past here before, but never knew the pool was here. Park on the downside of it and took the walk up and over to GZ. Past the pool itself and once at GZ the cache was spotted after a short search. Log was signed, photo's grabbed and it was back to the car and of again.

Thanks TE....cache all good.

Did a little drive around Paddy Forest, the car wasnt too happy about getting off road but it managed it OK.

Unfortunately I forgot to download the list so didnt have access to any hints or logs, but I found all of them except the first.

I happily found the easy way in, otherwise this could have been a fight!

Found with The Matetrix and geokids 2 and 3 on a fantastic Father's Day. Camped overnight at the Cotter then headed into Pierce's Creek Forest on exploration. Parked nearby and headed easily through to GZ. A quick find, sign and replace, then back to the geomobile and the drive out and home (via some Macers slushies). TNLNSL TFTC

Next on my walk, down some steep hills to get to this one. A bit boggy, but got over to GZ OK.

Thanks,

Cache 5380 on 18 Jul 2019.

After finding the last of the gemstones needed for the Mystery at the Museum in south Canberra this morning, we headed out to Paddy’s road for some Tankengine caches! Managed to find 5/5 caches, but we had to give a couple a miss given the higher T rating or the poor road condition. Still happy with 5 for the day!

This cache: would not do laps here, but yes, a pool. Bobl27 did the finding on this one!

Thanks Tankengine for the cache and the fun!

Found at 3:07:00 PM

More like a tailings pond. Certainly not a pool I'd like to swim in! When I got to GZ I quickly found the cache, but the crevice was far to narrow for my hand and the cache was dangling right in the narrowest part. I found a stick, but the cache couldn't be dragged out forwards. From another angle I manage to push the cache down into a slightly wide section of the crevice before extracting it out the back. I left the cache in a significantly easier to access position when I left.

Thanks Tankengine

Well, yesterday I was standing beside the Cotter Dam, looking across at a rather prominent hill, thinking I must walk up it one day. Fast forward less than 24 hours and I'm doing just that. Hooray for beautiful Spring weather and public holidays! That ascent led spontaneously to a whole lot of walking and finding interesting caches, with the occasional blackberry scratch, nerve racking downward climb and near encounter with feral pigs thrown in. A fantastic day walking in the hills and the pine forest.

The more impressive of Paddy's water features and a minimum of blackberries to deal with getting here. Quite a fascinating spot in its own way! TFTC Smile

Out exploring this part of the Cotter today.
After a scramble from the road up the bank and dodging the blackberry we quickly located the cache. Getting to the log was another story. The container was firmly wedged between the rocks and after 5 minutes of trying to wiggle it out we were just about to give up when a firm push from a walking pole managed to dislodged it. We signed the log and carefully placed it back in it's hiding spot. As long as no one tries to pull it straight up it should be ok. If pulled directly up it will wedge itself again.

I had the honour of being able to join the CO on his maintenance run through some of his Paddy Series up here.

There was plenty of parking right next to this cache. We then crossed the road and clambered up and over the other side to then walk down a little way to the very interesting coloured pool. Not sure if the colour is from minerals or the junk laying around in it? Still makes a pretty good area to visit with a bit of a difference. I don't think I would EVER go into that water, no matter how hot I was, but still pretty cool to see.

The cache was located not too far around the bank and was quickly found and signed. The walk back was all uneventful until we had to go back down the embankment to the road. Tankenigne ran down with ease. Luckily I didn't embarrass myself completely and Tankeninge encouraged me that all would be fine and he'd catch me if he had to. Thankfully I was all good and didn't squash him, so don't worry people, he can still place more caches.

Thanks for a great day out and of course TFTC Tankengine!!!

I was happy to spend a day caching out west of Canberra with MinnieK and Fitzy1965. We headed out via the new set of Uriarah road caches, including the Starwars ones. Then we went up the ridge behind Cotter Reserve and finished the Paddys caches. Last was a trip in to the Bindebellas proper with a visit to Sherwood and finishing on Two sticks road. A fantastic day with a bit of fog but no real rain.

Thanks.

A planned day out with fitzy_1965 and Albida33 to collect some hard to reach caches. Headed out rather early and thankfully we did as there was a cycle race on down to Uriarra today. Met Binliner heading in the opposite direction. Once at the end of ALL7's series it was clear sailing around the Bullen Range and beyond. 22000 steps later we were utterly exhausted but certainly had a fun day. Most logs signed as AMF.

Wow, wasn't frozen this morning but this would look amazing if so.

16,499. Found with minniek and albida33 during a caching day out at Uriarra and the Cotter regions - mostly signed as AMF.

We had planned a trip out this way today to pick up some far flung and difficult to get to caches - and after grabbing the 23 new ALL7 caches we continued on to our original list. Next find of the day. We were now into the 'mostly Tankengine caches' area. Drove around many fire trails going cache to cache. Parked roadside and went up and over the edge and around the pool towards GZ, passing yet another car wreck. Took a couple of minutes to spot this one. Signed the log, replaced the cache, and we moved onto the next one.

Thanks Tankengine !!

An afternoon's caching from Stromlo to the Cotter river. This was my eight find. Cache quickly found. TFTC.

A day of caches between Paddys River and Paddys River road. Took a little bit longer than expected as some of the roads shown on my gps did not exist anymore so there was a bit of pushing through the pines and the odd blackberry to avoid.
It was cold, at 12.30 pm the pond was nearly completely frozen over. The little brown thing in the middle of my photo is a tin I threw into the middle and its sitting on the ice. TFTC.

Found as the sky began to darken and the stars and crescent moon made an appearance. Definitely a nice conjuction with Mercury, Crescent moon, Venus and Regulus going on in the heaven's and reflected off the pool surface.
Another interesting scar on the landscape. Look some rubbish away with us as we headed off to the grand finale.

*FTF* @11:45am with mattyu94!

I saw these 4 new caches come out just after 10am but wasn't meeting up with mattyu94 until 11am! We had already arranged to go geocaching today however, but originally over the east side of the ACT near Kowen Forest!

I kept calm and waited until it was time to pick him up and told him that plans had changed and we were heading over towards the Cotter instead. A pleasant mid-morning drive with very little traffic on the road meant we arrived fairly quickly at the first cache!

---

This was cache #1 for the day
I was initially slightly worried about taking my car down these roads to the caches, but when we arrived it was much easier than anticipated and the roads were actually in great condition for any car!

Parked near the pool and wandered on over to see if we were first, when there's no service out here you can't be sure until the log is in your hand! The colour of the small dam was very interesting, it looked almost blue! Was too excited however to even think to take a photo, but loved the location! This was one of the easier ones to access, and I quickly found the cache at GZ. Opened it up and out fell a pathtag which was a great indication! Yay we did it!

Thanks Tankengine for the cache!
