Out and about but failed to unearth this one. We had a detailed search, but no smilie for us today.
With large numbers of family present I was starting to get a little over crowded so I got a few hours quiet time to grab some supplies and collect a few geocaches. Thought these would be mainly park and grabs but some were a bit more challenging (and three I couldn’t locate) but a nice run anyway.
Second of two multis visited but first found. Plugged the numbers in and thought that can’t be tight but it was. One direction and then a second and the cache was quickly located. A few ants in residence but still signable.

Find No: 8703. Out for the day with with shaneo58 & Justontime, called in to say g'day to techsavvy9 and had a beaut lunch (Lamb Pie) at Wollombi Tavern, thanks for the cache beary_unicorns!!
Thanks for placing this one in a nice location with a bit of a history lesson. A fairly quick find once the coordinates were calculated
#9168 (1 of 20 today - including 5 Adventure Labs)
I am gradually catching up with my logging - I'm missing two months worth or so. And that's over 100 caches! At least my most recent finds are up to date - just need to fill in the gap!
To be honest, while I still find searching for caches fun, I'm finding logging less so. But I have to log to get me stats and souvenirs, so...
Only a few Adventure Labs and my First2Finds have been written up in a timely manner - don't want people racing out when it's already been snaffled.
Nevertheless, I have kept up with my 2022 goal of 16 finds per caching day. In fact, for the most part my modus operandi has been to actually aim for 20. So far I've only failed on that a few times, and only by 1 find. Amazingly I'm on track for 19 finds per day, I just have to put my mind to my future goals... 25 per day? Owwww.
Thanks to all the CO's who have made it possible to keep my goal in sight. Most of the finds have been Traditionals, but a few Puzzle series and the odd other cache type have been grabbed where possible.
Sorry the logs are very generic, but I'll never catch back up otherwise.
###END OF GENERIC ABJECT GROVELLING SECTION###
Headed up to the Hunter for a real cache binge today. Many were little more than park and grabs, but I was glad to snaffle a few Multis and a bonus for the AL.
Final count for the day - 20. Top haul on a pleasant day out.
###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###
Easy calculation, but then took longer than it should to spot the cache.
Signed, replaced and on my way.
Remember the earthquake well - as I had friends in Newcastle at the time.

This must have been disabled on my previous visit to the area. Dropped in on my way past today, nice and early so no muggles moving yet. Easy enough Multi, and a short stroll to just there, and had cache in hand. That is one strange playing field. Big hill in the middle of it LOL. TFTC.
Couldn’t find it due to amount of fallen leaves.
Had a good dig around, couldn’t pick it out.
Could still be there, but we didn’t have time to check so called it a DNF and head back.
Had a quick coffee at nearby Lings cafe before making tracks - nice local cafe, wouldn’t have found it without the cache.
Thanks for bringing us here.

Returned to GZ for a bit of excavation.
A previous finder confirmed where to look. We sent photos and confirmed the cache is now missing.

Found it after a little dog in the wet bark lol. Log has been replaced by publisher
My wife and I were on holiday enjoying some wine from the Hunter Valley and avoiding all the hot spots. The Cessnock op-shops threw up bits of gold and we spent the afternoon chasing caches before wine time.
We were so confused because we thought we were stepping into school grounds. My wife is a prep teacher and told me to “pick up 10 papers” as soon as I crossed the fence. She also told me that picking up 10 papers was no longer a punishment because everything is now plastic.
It’s been a while so as expected the cache wasn’t just sitting there shining at us. After a quick dig the hide was uncovered. tftc

Tftc beary_ unicorns, a nice simple multi, did the walk to GZ! Replaced log sheet as the original was too damaged to sign
Maitland Day 4, camped at the showgrounds.
As the others headed to complete the dogs head we headed south to Cessnock then continued through to Hillfield & Wollombi. We had a couple of AL to do & a variety of caches to find.
We enjoyed our drive into the countryside away from the bustle of the city & cars.
Tried to solve this at home but some of the information was wrong, quickly gathere the information at GZ & the find was even quicker.
Thankyou thusbruv_sqrd for placing this cache.

It was my last off week , So when Mr Minion suggested a day caching today I jumped at the chance. We started out early and the weather was brilliant. Saw some great views and had some laughs. A truly great day indeed.
I very nearly didn't do the second part of this multi as I thought I had enough for today but after doing the calculations and seeing how close it was I was glad I did. A beautiful area out here. Thanks for the cache beary_unicorns tnln replaced as found sl

This was my final cache for today's drive out along the loop through Wollombi, with this part of the road bringing back memories of my 2013 exploits along here doing mrnoo17's *Picture Pefect* cache (now archived). Parking in the parking area next to the park, I soon had the numbers I needed and then the cache in hand. Gosh, it was a rough year for the area with the earthquake in August and then the fires in September.
Many thanks for this enjoyable multi and for enticing me outside on this beautiful day.

Knowing that a new AL had come online at Wollombi, I suggested to my snuggle muggle this morning that a drive in the country followed by lunch somewhere would be a great way to enjoy today's gorgeous spring-like weather. She was up for it, though she realised that caching would also be on the day's agenda. Not much, I assured her, just six quick stops in Wollombi before lunch, and then a few roadside ones on the way home through Cessnock.
This was one of the "few" ... we detoured here off Wollombi Road when I realised that Paxton and Ellalong were just minutes away. It didn't take long to find the plaque, do the calculations and locate the hide ... indeed, when I returned to the car, the missus commented that I was very quick, and she didn't even realise that I'd been doing a multi.
Thanks for the hide and for bringing me to Ellalong beary_unicorns.

Nice quick find on a sunny Sunday. The log is a bit damp but still writable.

As I now live only a few hundred metres from the GZ, I could go out for a nightly stroll and check this out.
(yes, I'm intentionally marking this as a note and not as a find-- I don't do the score thing on gc.com..)

Came out this way for the recent FTF and decided to pick up a few caches along the way. Out caching with kingfisher_au. we did the calculations only to think we missed a step, but after double checking we spotted the cache. Thanks for the multi and bringing us here.
our finding some firsts to finds in the area and decided to do this one while we were there , sorry didnt realise that it was disabled till we got home but good thing that the Covid-19 is on the back foot now and geocaching restrictions have been lifted thanks for the cache
Temporarily disabling this one due to COVID-19 to ensure all stay safe and follow the new restrictions that have been put in place. will be back up once restrictions have been lifted. Stay safe everyone

Popped out today to find a cache, and as I still needed some more multi cache finds for a challenge cache in Victoria, I headed here.
This is exactly what is great about Geocaching. A little town I barely knew existed apart from on a map, and the chance to read about some history I otherwise wouldn’t have known about.
Plotted out the numbers, and while I expected GZ to be close, I wasn’t expecting it to be that close! Wandered over to make the quick find.

Calculated the numbers to discover GZ wasn't very far away at all, so we found it quickly and easily. TFTC!
We stopped off to undertake this Multi-cache on passing through Ellalong today. We soon found the numbers required at the waypoint given and then with our GPS updated with the corrected co-ordinates we walked on towards Ground Zero where the nicely camouflaged cache was quickly located. We signed the log book and then replaced as found. Thanks so much for the cache and for bought our attention to the Earthquake. Greetings from Zimbabwe
Out this way grabbing some caches for the morning. Great to see a cache in this little town, another nice multi, TFTC.
It is a long time since we visited this area, but easily found the required plaque and calculated GZ which was closer than we thought it might be. A familiar container was spotted and quickly logged. Thanks beary_unicorns for the hide.
Decided to head out this way trying for a first find on a new cache. We ended up being second to find but we kept going anyway. We had a nice afternoon wine tasting and finding caches. The only bad bit was being stung by a wasp in the car which i was trying to squish as i thought it was a mosquito.
This was our fist stop of the day and after a few minutes of reading and calculating i made a quick find of the cache. TFTC

Find #2593
The kids and I set off on our traditional New Years Day cache drive (one of them anyway!), choosing a route back out through Wollombi again, to pick up some new caches that have appeared since our last journey out here. Another day above 35 degrees made being out in the sun unpleasant at times. A great day was had, finishing off with a New Years event.
This one took far longer than it should have, mainly because I entered the wrong latitude in the GPS, so we wandered back along the street and started prodding about in someones front yard before it was apparent we were way off, the find took a few seconds once the mistake was rectified. My second multi and found with Banj and beary-unicorns. I loved the container and it made me smile especially with the name of the hide. My type of cache. Thanks again.
**FTF** decided to go for a drive with the whole family today and grab some of the new multis as I still need 20 of so more to reach a 200 multi challenge in Canberra.
Parked close by and quickly added up some numbers. Hmm.... wait... lol... cheeky! Kids enjoyed the nearby playground while Daddy did the maths.
Thanks for a fun drive in the countryside. TNLN TFTC
