Having found my main target today (the Te Ara Atea multicache) it was time to sweep Rolleston clear of caching targets. This is my 2nd visit seeking this cache - it being AWOL when I was last here in Aug 2020. Today, I was pleased to find the cache at home, but found it could do with a fresh log. I even managed to take a selfie pumping some H2O. [^]
Nice wee park. I fought past the spiky bush before I realised I didn't need to!
Could do with new log.
Could do with new log.
So up in Christchurch for work and had to get a few caches for the peak challenge. Wet but warm day long grass and now wet feet. Cache was nice and dry. TFTC
Cool find, dog over fence wasn't too worried bout us being there. Mumbo11 doing sum pumping....
Quick find, no water in the spout today and quiet in the neighborhood at the time. Tftc
When we came in May 2020 the cache was missing. Today we found the replacement cache. We took the photo on our last visit.
Oh what fun was this. Both boys (young and old) fought over who who would pump. I was left alone to retrieve the cache why they pumped and pumped and pumped. Both the container and logbook were in good condition. I changed the zipbag for a smaller one. Nice location, the pump was a good surprise to us!
Found it on our second attempt! We were in the completely wrong bush last time lol easy find this time around!
First cache I’ve found in months,, hoping to get back into it lol. easy enough find,, tftc
Out with eagle eyed Greg on another great Caching day - after the Highlanders smashed the Crusaders. Sorry had to sneak that in. Cheers.
We read the hint and thought it would be an instant find. But no. Gk followed a geotrail that soon petered out. He was groveling around and the occasional word that indicated that he was not having much fun was heard. So I joined in the search. I followed another geotrail and gk joined me. Within moments gk found it. Signed the log and returned it as he found it. Thanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley
Out for an early morning run on our holiday travels. Easy find here in the wet bushes.
What a cute little spot. This kids loved pumping water and the cache was quickly located. Thanks!
Down in Christchurch with the Squirrel, ABCDF4 and eyespyben. During Covid lockdown, we solved a load of puzzles and decided that this would be a good time to visit. We've enjoyed a few days of good weather and seeing the Canterbury countryside. The caches have been in varying states - some good, some not so much. Our time here has been a blast, and we'd like to thank all COs who have made this adventure possible. Thank you and TFTC.
With ABCDF4, eyespyben, and Gap (of Fap and Gap). Logging all finds as Team HRP (Huntly, Rotorua, Papamoa - Our hometowns)... During Covid-19 lockdown, we solved a truck load of puzzles around Christchurch - Canterbury region. No use thrashing the old grey matter for no cause - We decided we should make good on this handiwork...
There are lots of interesting trails and geoart surrounding Christchurch. What you aren’t told is how far flung some of these caches actually are. Some beforehand advice would have been great, so here are some of my notes... You’re welcome!
1. Mobile coverage is patchy, especially in those quiet, rural areas where it was most needed. Saving caches to offline might show that you are prepared and organised...
2. There are many dusty metal roads on the trails. The car will get messy, and your hair will feel like cardboard at the end of the day...
3. Suitable clothing and footwear are essential. You will climb in and out of hedges, gorse, and other rough stuff. You might get scratched, cut to shreds, and bleed a lot. It’s not advised to wear your brand new jacket on the day...
4. Take lots of food and drink. You’ll probably be head down, tail up and not realise you haven’t eaten until late afternoon. There are very few shops or gas stations out there...
5. Make sure that you secure keys and wallet and know where these are placed for easy retrieval. A full box of pens might be useful too, especially if you’re inclined to free some into the wild...
6. Know the difference between left and right, and north, south, east, and west. Turning right and heading north will not get you to South Christchurch quickly.
7. Look with girl’s eyes rather than boys eyes... Some caches haven’t been found in a while and you might have to get down on your knees to pray.
8. Always be prepared for misleading hints. This is what turns simple caches into D5/T5 hides... “Head height” could mean the cache is positioned at your toes.
9. Have a sense of humour and like the people you go caching with. It’s going to be a very long day, and you might want to hurt someone during the journey...
10. Make sure you can operate your phone/device and it doesn’t crash when you most need it...
11. Learn to cut and paste logs because you’re going to repeat this function so often when logging all of your finds.
12. Above all else, have fun and be kind...
We have another one of those punishing plans to cache until we drop - An early morning start with the hope that we'll finish at a reasonable time... We are back in the South Christchurch neighbourhood to mop up a few more hides... A careful look - cache found. Thanks StJohnNZ and TFTC.

After puzzle solving in the Canterbury region along with ABCDF4 we were invited to join Fap (from Fap & Gap) and Squirrel Nutcase to a week long caching adventure in the Canterbury area. With flights and accommodation booked were off, all met up in ChCh. and many hard dusty Kms travelled and many caches found, I think the Squirrel has said it all in his brief. Many thanks for the placements and Cos for bringin us to the very pleasant areas we travelled in to your region

I needed to find 6 caches today, in my personal challenge, to bring my finds total for the 18th August up to 26 and thus into a deeper shade of green on GC's Statistic Daily Finds Calendar.
This was the 4th of 6 Rolleston caching stops I had planned. But, it turned out to be the 2nd DNF. I think it has gone AWOL.

Found it and placed new thing this is my first geo catch and loved it thanks st jhon
Made my way in following the instructions and next thing I know there is a dog on the other side of the fence doing its best to try to reach me. Grabbed the cache, signed the log, replaced and then I was out of there as fast as I could. There's a pile of pamphlets in here which the delivery person must've dumped rather than deliver. So the cache has defiantly as described by fellow geocaches gone... replaced with Orange pill container and updated to new location, Along the fence line, walk passed the seat and use your stealthy geocaching powers and head to the fence, when you get to the fence turn left and go behind the bushes and search quietly for the cache against the fence line

A lovely little spot and M got the pump working but as for the cache, it was nowhere to be seem. Maybe it needs checking. Looked for ages behind all the hint objects. I picked up all the rubbish around the area and put it into someones yellow bin. It looked like someone had dumped a load of junk mail
Looked at many rocks but couldn’t find anything. Got my little one pumping though
Looked all through the flax bushes and rocks and couldn't find anything at all ):
A bit disheartened that 2 adults could nog successfully locate this cache after all the "easy find" logs. Still got the pumping photo though
I had a bit of spare time before dinner so dipped by this one to have a gander. But with a few DNF's thought it might be futile. However, 10 seconds after starting the hunt there it was - excellent! Cheers, back into it's hiding spot it went.
Out in Rolleston on a social visit so did some geocaching while here. This was a frustrating cache in a nice area. Looked for ages without success in spite of using the hint. Where were those young muggle girls when we needed them!? Thanks for the cache. Rodney and Iris.
We have come over to ChCh for the Reviewer Revealing Event hosted nearby. After we left the event it was time to grab some caches around Rolleston before heading over to Lyttelton for some TMGT caches. We had been here for a cache previously but couldnt find anything this time We werent that happy to look through all the flax encase it had crept from the hint. Time to move onwards.
We came to Rolleston for the Event and then spent the afternoon caching. I had spent some time looking when a little girl came to play. I told her what I was doing and she said I have seen it. I watched her and beside path infront of flax was the cache. I thanked her and signedd the log. Have put back as per the co ords and hint. Thanks for this cache StJohnNZ.
Down in Christchurch for a week and friends have come down for the weekend to collect the Smurfs series. We had just completed it and were heading back to Christchurch when we detoured into Rolleston to pick up just a few more! This was one of the extras - an interesting spot here. TFTC
Down in Christchurch for the weekend from the waikato with friends to do some geocaching. Great day with fantastic views of the alps. Found the cache quickly, nice hide. Thanks
