Turns out this was not a good cache to look for at night. A fire has been through here recently too.
Enjoying a weekend in Stanthorpe and out looking for a few caches while we are here. Found after a brief search
Read previous logs - this time I approached from behind. Soon found, signed & returned! TFTC
Last night's intention was to get up super early this morning and give myself two hours of caching adventure before returning to town for work. Well ... I didn't get out the door as early as I wanted so time was of the essence.Chucked a u-ey around back but approached from the front. Decided that I wasn't feeling safe and seeing that I was on my own, didn't want to take a wrong step and end up in a pickle. Thought about going around back ... but the rank smell was off putting ... and I wanted to get some caches further out while I still had some time left before work.Back at base-camp to log my find ... and see logs from yesterday. Will come back out again for this one as it isn't too far away.
Definitely head around the back. My 9 year old daughter found it after my sister & I spent 10min searching

Looked all around but didn't find the blighter today - as usual for me among rocks. TFTC anyway, GBC.

We are on our way back home. We went to QOGM 2022 in Charleville first, then decided to go on a camping trip in NSW for a change and visited also Canberra.
Now we stay a couple of days in Stanthorpe.

After a very early start to the day yes 4 am on the second coldest day in the year. Willis007 and I left Brisbane and headed to Stanthorpe and Girraween for a walk and catchup with a few other crazy people. It got to -4 degrees at one point of the journey but that did not stop the enthusiasm of the group.
We finished our big trail walks and started to collect caches around the area. We headed south to a particular challenge cache for Willis007 and then we headed north back towards town, collecting more caches, timing it to finish before our dinner event at 5.30pm.
We split up from our caching buddies, Willis007 and I went off to grab the Elementary series and a few others in the area before our dinner event. It was going to be fast work as we had just an hour an 10 minutes before the dinner bell. All the caches in the series were there, some were quick finds and a couple placements took us a little longer. We even managed a couple of trads on the way back.
We had just enough time to squeeze in this one and just as well as it took some finding. Signed the log and were out and off to the event. Thanks for the cache here.

A great day out in Girraween National Park with chamad, Peppa, Pirate Linda and Beardman75. The main focus was to visit some of the waypoints for the earthcache in the area, and to attend the event in the evening.
Of course, there are always plenty of caches to visit while in the area, we made sure we made the most of the beautiful day.
With daylight quickly fading, we made the stop here - the last cache for the day. chamad and I spent a bit of time tripping over logs, rocks and whatever else was on the ground. chamad then made the call he had found it!

Took us a while to find at first, then on our way back to the car after giving up, I found it! TFTC.
Area is quite overgrown with a tree being collapsed over the area of GZ but lovely drive in the country side 
I mentioned to some geobuddies that I wanted to go to Stanthorpe to finally collect the last of the Apple caches. A plan was hatched and a weekend away was planned. The weather did not look promising this morning, so we started out a bit earlier than originally planned. After finding a nearby cache, we headed to this one. A quick find was made and the log signed. TFTC

Gawd...def don't tackle this one from the main road terrain rating def understated if u do...dirt road running behind offers a lil easier access...tftc
Didn’t hold out much hope of finding this one after the recent DNFs. But read a few logs and made a surprisingly quick find.

It coukd be there, I did not want to climb higher. Had as look in the time available but need to get on.
No doubt the cache is still there but we couldn’t get a good look in because the onerous stank of something that has just died was in the area. I knew the zombies could also smell it and I could hear them caught on barbed wire so we left it for another day
Well, we thought we'd take a short cut here on our bikes but Google maps lied to us! 7kms later we eventually arrived at GZ. Oh well, it's a beautiful winter's day. TFTC GBC.
Quick pick up this evening upon arrival in Stanthorpe. A bit of drizzle but still quiet nice.
The lonely road was oddly quite busy when I was there. Happily there was plenty of cover at GZ to conduct the business. After a couple of false starts soon had the find, TFTC!
On our way home from the Mega at St Arnaud and we spend the 19th in Tamworth and made our way to Stanthorpe on the 20th. Arrived and cached and went out to see Ian and Chris and the other occupants of the house. Stayed in Stanthorpe over night 20th and at 5 am this morning re started the cache hunt. Finished in Stanthorpe and made our way to Toowoomba via Warwick and found the ones there that sere suited to our time schedule and then on to Toowoomba where we cached till 6 pm. On our way to the Sunshine Coast where we will be attending a family function on the 23rd. Signed all logs with youngoldfella where ever possible but if the logs were micro or small used my usual YOF signature. All good here. TFTC
We are on our war to Blackall, our 2nd night on our trip is at Stanthorpe.
Stanthorpe at the moment the area has been devastated by many fire in the region & it's the wonderful work by the firies that has saved the many homes. To add to this the town is also going through a major drought. Our base is at the Robin's Nest where a flurry of activity is happening with their charity work & now the added work of collecting & distributing food & clothing to the many effected people.
A real experience to spend a couple of days here.
Always tiime to locate a couple of caches.

Cache has survived the fire. On our way to QOGM (Blackall) day 13 of our trip. 28 caches for the day and 424 for the trip.TFTC

We took a while to locate this cache did too much climbing when in the end it was not needed. Good hide! TFTC

Gosh - that took a while to find. Didn't help that I took the T 4.0 approach, when al I had to do was drive around the back and walk between a couple of large rocks [B)] Was looking for an unnatural pile of rocks to help with the find - but there were none!

7481 Located by baby&Mrs gopher at 1500. Caching between showers today. This hide had us going around and over rocks. Took a while to locate . SL Tnx Granite Belt Cachers.
