Over from NZ visiting and doing as much caching as other commitments allow.I had actually looked for this one several days ago, and was pleased to get the green tick on the first attempt. However that was the easy part and after 20 minutes searching that day, without any luck, I flagged it away, as it was getting late and I was tired after a long day.Today, armed with a bit more intel about a possible beacon to aim for, I returned to search again and this time I was successful, despite the cache being covered by a good amount of fallen vegetation. Woop woop. As others have said, anyone who finds this without some outside assistance, really deserves the kudos. It's one mean hide, as the D rating reflects and certainly gets a FP from me. TFTC

30-Jul-24
Cache replaced.

30-Jul-24
Updated one question (X) as the original waypoint information is missing.

29-Jul-24
Cache removed for repairs, and maybe changes to the WPTs.

After grabbing the nearby cache, I thought a nice quick little field puzzle with fill the spot nicely.. so obtaining all the answers.. hmm.. coords wrong, multiple checks and multiple times I was coming up wrong.. meanwhile my geo-pup is getting frustrated because were not moving.. after improving so many numbers I was still getting it wrong.. so I thought.. hmm well the park isnt THAT big.. so after practically studying and memorising all the logs for any clue I start searching.. everywhere!!! My gut told me this was the spot.. so I searched and searched and searched.. found something that in some contexts would be considered out of place and spent way too much time gently exploring that.. but could not find anything that could be considered a container.. after over an hour of searching and dodging the plovers I admit defeat to return another day.. Like always Roddy I appreciate your caches!

Out with Hatzofff on a maintenance trip on this beautiful sunny day. With a check on this tricky little cache, the log was signed. Thanks RoddyC. All good with this cache and puzzle. Now I'm off to the Earthache

It rained this morning and it is raining tonight. In between Mr 10 and I took the geopup for an outing and a chance to get some more caches towards the 100 for the Wheel of Challenges put out by headquarters.

Got the needed information, although I was a little unsure about the last digit. That shouldn't have mattered though. I see a lot of people have PAF on this one. I will try a few more times before I resort to that since I live nearby. It is a great feeling to finally find something that you have looked for previously. There was one in Hervey Bay that took us 6 times! The satisfaction was superb. Hopefully I will have that for this one some day.

Today, jesswrigley and I planned the morning with a mountain bike ride in Daisy Hill / Koala Bushland Coordinated Conservation Area. We roughly followed the waypoints of [MTB Madness](https://coord.info/GC1J639) whilst making a clockwise loop around the area, followed by an early banh mi lunch.
I then had a solo afternoon that I utilised to visit many of the Daisy Hill *Parks and Recreation Series* caches, and finally, I took a visit to Kimberley Forest Park before then needing to dash to make a Brisbane CBD pickup.

With the CO's assistance in helping me with a nearby hide, they mentioned that they would be checking on this cache given the couple of DNFs that had accumulated. I don't know why they were worried, as it was such a tough hide that a find in amongst a handful of DNFs was probably common (and I credit anyone who managed to find this hide without any PAFs/assistance). A true 4.5 difficulty hide, and that didn't also consider the field puzzle element. Speaking of which, I mentioned to them that I hadn't solved this puzzle after seeing the question mark, and that was when the CO team commented that it was actually a field puzzle. I was actually put off by where the posted coordinates were, so perhaps they could be nudged back to the park?

I was a little later arriving than the CO team, and they were busy doing the field puzzle. I independently tried to follow the directions, and there didn't seem to be too much ambiguity, although I had initially made a mistake with not recognising a dual exercise/zone. They commented that they thought the signs had changed sinced the questions were made/updated, as my coordinates were different to what they thought it should be. I did try the geocache's checker, and perhaps like others, my numbers didn't agree.

My coordinates weren't too far from where the cache actually was, however, it was probably enough to have caused me a DNF had the CO team not been with me today. So after a brief search myself, the CO instructed me to look in that particular direction, and sure enough, the cache was soon found. Holey moley, that is one tough hide! The cache container and logbook were in good shape. I was so happy to have had the CO team with me today, as I definitely would never have found that solo. Thanks RoddyC for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

This wouldn’t be a true experience if we turned up for our first visit and walked away with a find. What however we did walk away with was a bunch of termites biting us for the next couple of hours.

We thought our maths was sound but couldn’t get the checker to agree. We decided to have a look based on what we had which seemed to fit inline with previous logs but were just beaten by a better cache on the day. We will be back to avenge. Thanks anyway

29-Dec-22
Very hard for me

05-Dec-22
I was in the area and remembered that this cache was still on my DNF list. I had received a hint on it since I was last here and decided to check it out again. My new information helped and I had a quick find. Glad to clear it off my map.

Did not find this one again. Feel like this will be on my forever DNF/Blue Smiley list.

30-Jun-22
Back here, this time I teamed up with Peppa as we both have attempted this one on our own before.
A lot of gardening before we could add our names to the log. Gardening and PAF.
Happy to finally get this one off my map.
Thank you for hiding this geocache RoddyC, without hiders the game wouldn't exist

I was invited for an afternoon of caching by Karicka… with just three targets, the day should be over in an hour and a half… wrong….

Karicka and I have both been here before… separately… I’d walked away because I couldn’t get the checker to agree… and we still couldn’t get the green light from the checker…

We were here for an hour… we tried to keep the environmental vandalism to a minimum, and did our best to return everything as found…

There was more than one PAF used to obtain this cache… tftc…

Day one of my travels south to the mega event in Wangaratta. The plan is to hit some target caches and grab a few LGA’s all the way, possibly fill in my Jasmer grid. This is my first chance in 2 years to get out of the covid bubble and grab some caches south.

It was a stop and make a grab here; I was given a little intel as to the location of this one. I had a previous DNF here so I was glad to rectify that one. With all replaced it was back in the car and onto the next one. Thanks for the hide.

11-Nov-21
Headed south with KerriMG for a day of caching.
We looked at all the equipment and were pretty happy with our numbers but the checker said no. Tried counting again and still got the same numbers. Tried brute forcing an answer still no luck. Oh well I’ll look there anyway. KerriMG took one tree I took another about 10m away. KerriMG found it. Yippee. Not sure what we got wrong but a find is a find. TFTC RoddyC

Awesome hide! I thought the coordinates were about 10m out. But I discovered the cache as I have seen these before - looking a little suspicious!

Thanks Domsky for the little nudge.

Late start for the day. As I was heading towards Victoria Point I rung Muggle65 and Green Geckos to see what they were doing. Green Geckos said they were heading Southside. I ask if they would like to help with some high D/T caches. They said yes.
Why waiting for them. I did 3 waypoints for Adventure Labs.
My finds count for today was. 9 Finds the breakdown was 3 mystery, 2 traditional, earthcache and 3 waypoints.
Oh what fun it was too find this one. I did need to paf for this one. Oh what fun to find RoddyC caches.

Out and about with Muggle65 and Brislions today. Worked out some coords and had a look with no result. Our coords were off a bit but in the end they were closer than the ones BL got. After an age we finally found the great hide. A fave point from me

12-Sep-21
Tricky, well covered cache hide, while looking I had to review the activity logs & other hints and when I read “something you wouldn’t expect “ I returned to the dead bird carcass to make sure it wasn’t hiding a treasure

01-Aug-21
I could not find this one today while doing a walk. Apparently from what I work out, my coords are always wrong. Not sure where I am going wrong but I will have to find someone to get help.

18-Mar-21
Persistence, persistence, persistence.
This was our fourth visit to this park, and we feel like we know every grain of dirt and every tree very well.
Clearly though, there was indeed something we had missed.
Back again today, after a nearby CITO event,And armed with just a little more information.
Today, after a short search, what do you know, there it was. And it’s been there all along. I don’t know how we missed this one, but it is great to now turn that blue dot on the map into a happy yellow smiley.

Thanks RoddyC for the frustration and the final victory. Yippee!!

Dang....After a previous search, and certainly another good one this time, we still have not found it.
We know it’s there and our upturned bark would show the amount of scratching we have done.
No luck for us today.
Thanks RoddyC

Still there. It's NOT what you would really expect to see.

21-Dec-20
I just realised that we forgot to log this geocache, even though we found it before Christmas a month ago.
As I put together the coordinates, I thought the CO had made a mistake with the difficulty. I smugly made my way to the calculated coordinates then wasted some time looking in the wrong place before moving to another spot where the GPS seemed happier. Then the really serious searching began! After a good poke around, I came to the sudden realisation that I hadn't yet earned that difficulty rating. Ahhh!!! Now, I know this cache owner, and I've realised now that this is going to be tricky! It did help that he has demonstrated some of his cleverest hides at an event we once attended, but it was still incredibly hard to find this one as time and nature had given it a good natural camouflage. It took a good deal of scratching around to finally find something that might be. Oh no, that's not a cache ... or is it? Oh, very sneaky, RoddyC.
Thank you for this challenging little hide. I'm very relieved to have uncovered it!

05-Dec-20
I thought I might have been third time lucky but it was not to be. I did the calculations again and came up with the same result A search of all the nearby hiding spots was fruitless.

02-Nov-20
Even with help from the CO, it does not help the blind. Will try again later as it is the sun is setting.

25-Oct-20
Out with Selva Girls to help her pick up some smiles for the day. Checking on maintenance.

Grabbing caches inbetween showers but I think this one was in the middle of a downpour.

All good here.

I was gathering the answers for this mystery cache when the skies opened. I quickly gathered the rest of the information I needed, then headed to the picnic shelter to work out the final. Hmmm.....that doesn't look right. Just then, I received a call from Mrs RoddyC. I queried my answers. Wrong. :'( Have I read something wrong or have the council changed something? In the pooring rain, I headed off and took a photo then made my way tot he COs home to stay dry and have a cuppa. Over the cuppa, my answers and the photo I had taken were discussed. Seems there was a comedy of errors which were soon fixed. When the storm passed, we headed to GZ. There, the cache was soon located and the log signed. TFTC.

24-Oct-20
Made some changes to the questions to clarify the intentions.

08-Sep-20
Second attempt in 2 days. Did not log it yesterday due to how late/dark it was. Apparently my coordinates may have been 17 meters off after reaching out to RoddyC. Hope to attempt it later. Noticed last logger did not find it either after maintenance had happened. Hopefully not lost after that.

16-Aug-20
No luck. Got coords.

12-Aug-20
New cache in play. It took a while to try to recreate the original conditions for this hide.

12-Aug-20
All set to go again.

15-Jul-20
With full time carer for Pauline I need more time to get this one back into play. I have procured a new cache - just need the time to slip out to place it.

23-Apr-20
Until the present ordeal is over and I can get back to it.

14-Mar-20
No luck here today. We PAF with our coords, they were correct, but the cache seems to be missing.

14-Mar-20
No luck today

29-Feb-20
Unfortunately did not find .

17-Dec-19
I did this one when it was first published but there was nothing on the ground, today with time to spare I decided to try again, yay I signed a log. CO might want to check it as it is missing a lid. TFTC

31-Oct-19
Find No: 7918. Visiting from Newcastle, staying with my brother in Nerang, needed this D/T rating for my stats, never thought I'd fill the grid so haven't actively chased these before but I'm getting close now, only 6 to go, thanks for the cache RoddyC!!

18-Sep-19
After attending my usual Wednesday craft day, I ventured to this area to find a few unsolved field puzzles.
Worked out the numbers but was having difficulty checking my final coords via the geochecker, so took a chance with my numbers and checked GZ.
Nothing there, so checked the other one and finally found it out in the open.
SL and then returned it to a more suitable hide.
CO may need to check this one as lid is missing.

TFTC RoddyC for a very interesting puzzle.

02-Jul-19
Being back in town and near the area we needed over to see what this puzzle was like. We seemed to get through it fairly well and then headed for GZ in this muggle free area although one of the neighbours dogs was barking. Some looking before shifting GZ’s to spot the nice bit of camo. cheers!
We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC

05-Jun-19
This was my second search for this cache. After a more thorough search, after a short time, it was found. TFTC RoddyC

05-Jun-19
Returned today to see if we could get rid of the sad face on the map. All quiet around the neighbourhood and it was a fairly quick find once at GZ. A very clever hide a nd a FP given. Thanks RoddyC.

23-May-19
Today is a maintenance day for RoddyC, and I get to drive, "help" with the maintenance, and find lots of caches. I had a really top day. thanks, mate. Favorite point for this one. Had I seen the artefact, I would have found the cache, but it was cunning enough that I might not have seen it.

18-Apr-19
Same calculated GZ but after a cursory search, I switched over to the nearest alternative. The piles of sticks, rocks and foliage which have now developed are impressive, but sadly no cache appeared at the base of any tree for me.

14-Apr-19
Well - definitely not what we were looking for. TFTC.

05-Apr-19
TFTC RoddyC. Very clever hide. Had us scratching for ages.

Found 3 April 2019 8:02 pm Find #3509. Cheers, E

Yummy dinner!

03-Apr-19
On return from a big day out caching in the Dayboro area with EatSleepCacheRepeat and E_Smiley we thought we'd give this one another look after our previous DNF. We don't have a good track record with night caching but what the heck, we decided this would be our last for todays adventure and was hoping for a clean sweep then head out for some dinner. Well we searched and searched trying not to raise concern in the neighbourhood with our torches and as we were ready to bail a suggestion was made to widen our search. Turns out we had been focusing on the wrong area all along and bingo there it was, couldn't believe we'd finally found it.
Great puzzle and even better hide, well done CO, a favorite point from me.

Joined forces with EatCacheSleepRepeat and E_Smiley today to find a few local caches but after doing the sums here, we came up empty handed.

Thanks for placing this cache RoddyC, will have to return some other time.

DNF March 27, 2019

27-Mar-19
No luck today Thanks RoddyC.

24-Mar-19
Don't be put off by the DNFs. This IS a really tricky hide!

16-Mar-19
Got the solution right and searched at GZ for 20+ minutes...

No luck.

07-Mar-19
Continuing my tour of the area, I was surprised at how difficult this one was rated. After marching up and down a bit to get all the numbers, I walked over to a spot which didn’t look too likely, so I headed for the nearest tree and started scouring. The only highlight was thinking I’d unearthed a little black bison, only to realise it was a live dung beetle... oh well.
After more raking here there and everywhere, I declared defeat.
Add my name to the DNFs... clearly a very challenging one to find.

15-Jan-19
Well what can I say except today I returned with determination as it was my 4th or maybe 5 th visit. Looks like scrub turkeys have been here and another one had just arrived. I spent about 45 mins picking up every stick, rock, leaf etc and examining it like some forensic professor. I circumnavigated every tree a dozen or more times. I was tempted to give up and I stumbled on something a little sus and low anx behold it was what I have spent endless hours searching for. When I look back I wonder how I missed it but yes I did a hundred times so quickly put pen to paper and returned this elusive cache to the same spot. A hard earnt Smilie. TFTC

11-Jan-19
Another catch up day with joojoo57 and Richmond Lad for some puzzle solving. And of course there's a few caches to gather as well.

After getting the Earthcache sorted we began the counting for this one, and soon had a good set of numbers which the checker confirmed. A wander over put us at a very good looking spot and we searched it thoroughly, even digging into the ground a little. After about 20 minutes we sent a PAF to the CO which moved us away by about 5 metres, and the advice was to keep scratching! So we did just that for another 20 minutes, and Richmond Lad even took himself another few metres off to another similar spot and searched there, but we do not have a smiley Sad

Will come back another day.................................

22-Dec-18
Like the previous searcher, I wasn't really expecting to find this. But I thought I'd scratch around in the dirt and go through the motions anyway. I'm fairly certain this is going to remain on my DNF list for some time.

09-Nov-18
One of the great things about caching is the variety of hides. Long walks, drive by finds, tree climbs and clever hides just as a few ideas. Something for every type of cacher. Tricky hides are not for this cacher sadly. I have zero patience for actual;y looking for the cache at GZ.

The chance of me finding this was pretty slim. I reckon I spent a good few minutes looking. Razz

Thanks for the destination for my ride anyway RoddyC. Big Grin

16-Oct-18
No, the cache is still there - it is a very tricky hide. That's why it is a D4.5.

Evem with an idea of what yo look for syill came up empty

03-Oct-18
i thought it was about time to have another look for this cache.

I did the calculations again and came up with the same answers and then searched around for 15 minutes without locating anything.

20-Aug-18
Worked out the required information and then found that I was standing in the middle of 3 possible hiding spots.

I searched them all with no luck and then made a call to the CO and that narrowed down the search area but I must have had the wrong glasses on today as I still couldn't locate the cache.
