Day 2 of my adventure into and around Victoria for a week or so.A buzz of bees in this magnificent tree mesmerised me for some time before I went looking for the cache. I still cant get over the size of this tree and how it hangs down creating a sheltered area under its branches. TFTC Becca85Keep smiling
The cork oaks that were planted in the forest near my home, possibly around the same time as this magnificent specimen, are minuscule in comparison, What a delightful tree, clearly big enough to hide a car! TFTC
Awesome spot,Love the tree, cache took a bit to spot but hubby looked from a different angle and we got our smiley TFTC
After being in Lameroo for the annual JLWE event this year with an 80s theme, we are slowly making our way homeOut and about with Ronice88 today to pick up caches here, there and everywhere. After staying in Maryborough the night we picked up caches along the road to home. We have really enjoyed our short time in the area. The historic buildings are really well preserved
That is some canOpy! And yes I loved those stories of the Magic Faraway Tree. Just wee but worthwhile detour! Winter finally here. On a multi mission with weirdobiker after the Lameroo Ludicrous Leg Warmers events in SA and now heading back east via a through different LGA's. Its been great exploring the country out west with plenty of highlights to remember. TFTC and the lure.
We are slowly making our way to St Arnaud via a number of smaller towns and stopping at Maldon for lunch. We enjoyed eating lunch at the Gold Exchange Caf Restaurant so much last time, we thought we would stop there again. It didn't disappoint. Google Maps might say it takes less than an hour between these towns, but somehow, it keeps taking us 2 hours. However, we are now getting closer to our target of 20 geocaches in all Victorian LGAs, hitting more in Mt Alexander, Central Goldfields, Loddon, and our new LGA of Northern Grampians. Quiet station here, or at least while we were here. Was surprise that we discovered a name with todays signature. Did someone else find it today before us? Thanks for the cache, Becca 85.Hunter
Hello we found the geocache but by chance as it was in pieces and scattered around the space. We placed the scroll one half of the bison but unfortunately the other half was not found. Beautiful space to put a geocache but I dont think others have been looking after this special space as we spotted a needle wrapper so please be careful if there may be a discarded needle as the area is dense with fallen leaves.
Will pop out later this week to replace. Council will also head out for a quick clean up.
Found it but only half there, had a scratch around on the ground but couldn't find it. Picture shows what is there still
It did take a few minutes to find but I eventually found it! One the cache was found it was easier to appreciate what a cool tree it is!! You can find the cache from both sides of the fence. TFTC!!
The cork tree didn't look so impressive at first until I got under the canopy. It is pretty amazing.A quick find in a smoky town today. Thanks, Robmc.
Second find for the day. Dad gave some great information on how the shunter used it as the crib hut
That is one big tree, a quick find at GZ here today This week I decided to head to Victoria for a few days to target finishing off the Ballarat Geotour and also find the new series in St Arnaud, anything else was a bonus. I ended up finding a little over 300 caches plus a tonne of ad labs along the way. Thanks for the cache
Found by Mary and David at 12:10. A FP for this one. We are both young enough to remember Enid Blyton books. What a wonderful Far Away Tree here - the biggest one of its kind we have ever seen. Our thanks to Becca85.
It was bitter sweet as I managed to reverse a dnf into a smile and surprising how a different day makes for findingThank you for maintaining the cache
Oh my goodness what a magical spot. Memories of Enid Blyton and the folk of the farawaytree come flooding back. Thanks for the memory and for the cache. Note to CO, log is now full.
Heading home after a fab couple of days in Mildura. Am going to try hard to not stop for every single one as Ill never get home. Thanks for your cache becca85 on my journey home to South Gippsland Regards kbuck PS what a tree! Giving fave for making me smile. I was almost expecting Moon Face to poke his head out or be drenched by Dane Washalot
TFTC! 1 October 2023 5:12:58 pm 6174Loved the books as a kid, and thanks for highlighting such a cool tree and spot! Took a little but found it in the end.
JTreeTrack2 was out and about with Mr Dromaniax and the company of our Muggle parents. They Thoroughly enjoyed the trip, the sites, the effort gone in to placing caches in fascinating areas and places. The caches that we came across were all in good condition and were signed and returned as found. Thankyou to all the effort that has gone into placing the cache. Sorry for the generic log, my logging has 7 months of unloved. Thanks again for placing this cache.PS I think I saw Moonface or something moving high in the tree.
I was out and about with JTreeTrack2 and our parents. We decided to take Mum and Dad away for a trip down memory lane, and while out and about, we were picking up some caches along the way.We spent two days travelling around the central North region of Victoria and had some fantastic weather. All caches we found were in excellent condition unless otherwise noted.Thank you, Becca85, for this Traditional cache.A Favourite point from us as this would make an excellent spot for a kid's birthday party.
Thanks for the great hide. Am new to geocaching so will say there was some confusion about the hint but was awesome to be able to find it and be a part of the hunt.

On the way home after after hitting St Arnaud yesterday, it's always great to be out and about exploring parts of Victoria that I rarely see.
What an absolutely awesome tree
Cheers for the great cache.

After tackling the new trail in St Arnaud we decided to take the long way home to enable us to complete every available side tracked cache in Victoria.
This is one of the caches found on route. Took us awhile to find the cache, loved the tree.
Thanks Becca85 For the cache.

My oh my!!! Now that really is a tree to be proud of!!! What a fabulous specimen. It is mag-nif-icent!!!!! Thank you so so much for showing me. Nifty wee hide too. I love it. I worked for several years in a deciduous tree nursery but have never seen one of these. It's amazing!! We were under there for ages. I could easily have stayed longer
Found at 9:47 AM GAFF3.
Wow - you could live under here with a family of 10 kids! Hard to focus in the gloom and so it took a while to locate the cache even though the co-ords were excellent
Thanks to Becca85

We live locally and had a stroll down, we've been here before it's such a beautiful stop ♡
oh WOW WOW WOW ...... what a tree, yes it is magical for sure. Thanks so much for bringing me here.
What a magnificent tree.It was quite hot when I visited and it was wonderfully cool under the canopy. My first thought it would be a great place to have a picnic table and the area being used for a stop over and a bite to eat. As for the cache I saw a small reflection off part of the tie which attached it to the fence so a quick find was made. I have awarded a favourite point.
A wonderful tree! On such a hot day being inside the canopy was beautiful! TFTC!

The tree us quite impressive from the outside but, WOW, when you go inside it is a magical environment. A magnificent cork oak with a might trunk and limbs. The iridescent green glow from the leaf canopy just added to the atmosphere.
The cache was located in stages. First we found the top of the container only. We rummaged around and soon found the bottom of the container and a wet unsingable, log. So we provided a new logbook.
The cache is a standard type of hide. The location on the other hand, is superb and it is for the location that we award a favourite.
Thanks for a great caching experience.

Stopped in town for a coffee & a stroll. Did not expect such a superb tree. Great cache
After packing up camp in StArnaud we hit the road heading for Avoca on a detour way home.
Ghihash hadn’t been to Avoca before so we drove around and collected all the caches and the couple I was missing after my last trip.
We stopped for a rest stop at the train station and I pondered where our next caching weekend would take us under the magic fares way tree.
Ttfc for the cache

We were stopping through Dunnolly and needed a quick stretch the legs. This one seemed right up our alley, and of course ticked all the boxes with a beautiful location worthy of a cache. Took some pics then explored the old train station. A FP from us, what a gem of a tree. Nice to know the local history also.
Back log, out for a day of driving to get Geokid1 learner hours up, what better way than to cache around a nearby town. We enjoyed exploring here as we have lived by our whole lives but only ever drove by, it's nice to look further into the town
Wow what a magnificent tree. The tube had been unscrewed and log and bottom piece were under leaf litter. The top was still where it was supposed to be. We signed the log which is wet and connected all back together. Thanks.
