Exciting times over the next couple of weeks as we takeoff for the Capital GeoBash in Canberra! Its going to be a flood of Sandgropers over east, with a host of West Aussies making the trek east for the event. Im travelling with fellow Cockburn Crew members Leg5 and Barnzy12, starting in Sydney and hitting the road to Canberra, before returning back to Sydney. Honourary mention to our fellow member, Cravo10, who couldnt make it after recently introducing a new geocacher to the world the week prior. Once in Canberra, the agenda is set, well team up with a host of Western Australians to conquer caches. Collectively, were hoping to make it the biggest ever weekend for cache finding. Following the event, the journey continues back to Sydney, with a mission to clean up caches and new Local Government Areas (LGAs), ensuring no cache is left unturned in this epic geocaching adventure. Something tells me that well need a holiday after this, well, holiday. All logs have been signed as WAC to save space, abbreviation for Western Australia Crew. Cheers ALL7! Join us in Augusta, in Western Australias South West, for WA Goes Big 2024 (GCAGV8Y) on Friday 20 to Sunday 22 September. Log your will attend now!
The Cockburn Crew are on tour at the Capital Geobash in Canberra - travelling from Perth to Sydney, Canberra, Sydney and finally back to Perth.Today was day 5. We completed a huge number of trails, challenges, whereigos, traditional, multis, earthcaches, labs, virtuals and puzzles. It really was a great day for variety. We enjoyed caching in territory we havent been before. Weve filled our boots with some rare DTs and DTTs and generally had a great time. Thanks to the COs for a great day and event. Logs signed as part of team WA/WAC (WA Crew)
This was such a great series for us to do, just about all the caches were found in excellent condition and with great coords. Thank you for placing and maintaining them ALL7

We found this cache on Day 2 of our Vic1 Canberra Run in company of Muzza, McLookers, Micaparamedic, Alansee, Moonb1, Maccamob, Team Crackers and Pprass. Today was our Uriarra and Cotter Loop. Thanks from D B-A

Found at 9:27 AM in the company of the Vic 1 team
Alansee worked out a route for us to do today which included some very challenging AL's and we ended up at an event where the locals were to meet us! A big day that showed the beauty of the ACT and surrounds after the fog finally lifted! Most of the caches were way under rated though - nearly all of them were just a D/T of 1.5/1.5 no matter how hard they were to get to or find them - not very imaginitive in that sense.
Thanks to ALL7

We hit Canberra on a cache assault with Alansee, maccamob, McLookers, Micaparamedic, Moonb1, Muzza , Rabbitoh and Pprass The Drive to Uriarra Road series was our start today. We were hoping for some great scenery but the fog had other ideas but we still really enjoyed this nice little series which we happily found all the caches and to save room in the logs signed as "Vic1"
Many thanks ALL7 For setting it up.
#618 A big day caching with Turtle284 out this way today, with minimal service and only our downloaded lists, we were prepared to pick up as many as we could and still get home in time to keep the family happy! We picked up a few dnfs too but that didn’t dampen our spirits, thank you to all the COs today!
Walked on down to this one from our previous time and made a quick find at GZ, another one ticked off the list. Thanks ALL7

#2534 Uncovered this cache nestled away at GZ. Logged the find and continued on our way after a snapshot of the landscape over the fence. TFTC.
Mr Minion and I had driven out past here to grab a county cache I needed, So I thought we would grab a few in this series on the way back into town . Thanks for the cache ALL7 tnln replaced as found sl
Finally got some time to go caching with DRT and as a bonus got to ride in his new Geomobile.
Today we set out to get me to 3000 so we hit a trail. Some today had wet logs and some were right out in the open, not hidden at all as if someone just threw it on the ground and some may need the T rating adjusted.
We made a quick find on them all today and re-hid those that were out in the open in a logical spot - TFTC

Having recently acquired a new car I headed out with JuSoJaRa today for a spot of caching, when I went to pick up Ja we discussed where to go and what to do. Ja advised that he was just short of 3000 finds so that kinda became the mission for the outing.
Out we went to drive along Uriarra road to look at V trees, whilst avoiding thefting of any stamps and having some fun along the way.
So many caches they all blur together but several had D/T ratings that didn't seem to meet reality and around about 1 in every 3 along this stretch was sitting just out in the open nowhere near any cover and another third of them had water in them so perhaps some TLC may be required for this trail. But in every case we did what we could - Tipping water our, placing caches back under cover etc etc. All in all a reasonably successful drive through the country side hunting for numbers.
It was a nice drive indeed

Went on a mission with LJtheDJ today to pick up as many caches along here as we could. We had a very successful day and didn't miss any from this series. Thanks for the fun!
After completing the Star Wars Letter Box series, we still have some time up our sleeves before our next catch ups. Therefore we continues caching along Uriarra Road.
TFTC - a flock of very friendly sheep watched me the whole time.

Out on a great caching morning with the WEEO when we found this first of the letterbox cache series.
Three Kings and WEEO escaped on Boxing day morning for a brief Caching trip. The weather was great, fine cool but sunny, lots of cyclists on the road. Thanks ALL7 for laying this trail down for us. It is some glorious country with outstanding views. We saw plenty of bird life but no Joe Blakes, so all was well. )
#1833 and tenth for the day on our cloudy and rainy trip along Uriarra Road to clear the power trail. A great way to spend a rainy day. TFTC
Out this way for a driving lesson with Chocolistick03. We stopped and grabbed a few of the caches in this series along the way. Thanks ALL7.
Well I have no choice to be out and about with work and not too much happening at the moment (thankfully), so I figured I’d come grab a few caches until I get called away.

It's Australia Day long weekend... so of course, Finalf29 is at Cancon and that must mean I am caching... today I'm out with ALL7.
I helped ALL7 do a maintenance run on her Uriarra Road caches. I have permission to log finds without signing. We checked over 50 caches in 41 degree heat... ALL7 would have just keep going... she is a caching machine... but I had to still do the big drive home. Thanks ALL7 for the wonderful conversation, laughs (I know you are still laughing about that spider!) and putting out a great series. I will definitely be back to help you with more... if only to make you laugh!

Found with sebass14 on our geocaching adventure at Uriarra. Today we aimed, and then suceeded, at grabbing the Uriarra Road caches we had missed previously; grabbing an easy find in Uriarra Vilage; and grabbing a solid portion of the caches on the road to Wee Jasper before we had to turn around (unfortunately, as always, work often gets in the way of fun)! We wanted to do this before the long heatwave begins later this week; however, it was still hot today and it was probably the maximum temperature we'll ever want to cache in! Parking along the road was quite easy today; there were a couple which required a short 100m walk from a safe spot nearby, but most of the time we were easily able to grab the cache quite close to the air-conditioned car. Most caches were pretty quick finds; some required some hill climbs and some adventurous scrambling through thick branches, but it was all good fun! Lovely area to drive through; it's a shame about the very dry grass but the hillsides throughout looked stunning. TFTC ALL7!
Hint helped find quickly while the sheep watched us. No feed for them here. Very wet log. Covered up some more. Thank you ALL7 for the cache and our fun journey along this road. This one needs a new dry log.
This cache a little in the open, log a little damp, sheep were in a corridor type paddock, maybe a stock route, small amount of grass for them to feed on! Tftc
This log quite damp but usable. The sheep in their long run don't look very attractive - reminds me that the lamb cutlet I had last night for dinner wasn't very nice either!! TFTC
Quick find, on the way home from a early morning hike at the cotter dam. Log fairly wet.
Thank you ALL7 for putting the cache out and maintaining it.

A few days caching in the ACT and surrounds with Steeba and The Rats, another trip away like countless others that we have done before. We got the dates, we did the planning, we worked out a route. But there was one thing that we could not plan for; the weather.
The caches were excellent. The company faultless. The weather; atrocious. High winds, cold, sleet, rain, mush, icy, snow, we had it all! But we endured, and had a fantastic time regardless. Did I mention that it was cold? Bone chillingly cold. I am not sure my fingers have as yet recovered! Some roads were even closed due to snow, curtailing our route and resulting in some last-minute changes.
Please forgive the boiler-plate log, I assure you it is no reflection on the caching experience of our few days away. Thank you to all cache owners for their hides.
Cheers

A very chilly couple of days in and around the ACT with The Rats and Hoojar- most of the time the temperature didn't peak above 4 degrees! Amongst the sleet, rain, wind and cold however we made plenty of finds on mainly a number of power trails. TFTC!
Headed out for a caching run with steeba and Hoojar that had a bit of everything. These caching runs are planned months in advance and to-date have been perfect. This trip was no different – except for the influence of the WEATHER. A weekend in the Canberra hills that had howling winds, driving rain, sleet, hail, snow, frozen body parts slippery icy tracks, closed roads and temps that never got higher than 6 deg by day and were subzero all night, but alas we had a great boys weekend caching.
Apologises for the generic log but it doesn’t detract from the caching fun, except for the WEATHER which played a major part in our weekend. Thanks to all the CO’s for the hides.

Headed out today to finish off this trail with Rapidlywild as our plans changed due to one of the FF's pair being sick.
We replaced 3 caches one missing from a guard rail two others were more than likely taken by the local wombats. CO was notified about the locals. Replaced a couple of soggy logs too.
Other than that all caches were found in good condition. A lovely winters days to be caching in this area with all the bike riders.
Thanks for the trail placements ALL7 and thanks for the laughs and company Rapidlywild. Sorry for the generic logs.

Original plans were modified for today being we had an unwell FFLL member, so FFLL#1 and myself decided to head out Uriarra way to finish off a trail we had started another time and collect a couple other randoms along the way.
We replaced 3 caches today (with CO's permission) and replaced a few mushy logs, there were alot of bike riders out and about today and once the fog lifted, it was a beautiful winters day.
Thanks for the hide ALL7 and thanks again for the fun day out FFLL

Found with Decrypter. We parked near GZ and soon had CIH. Log signed and all replaced and we continued on so that D could get a few more in the MatM challenge. We parked further along the DUR trail and walked for a few kms with D collecting caches. There were sheep in the fields, some of which had given birth recently and we observed the lambs and their mothers. TFTC.
Found with Trodectus.

#7136. Have come over to Australia to attend the Mega event near Wollongong. But before that I have a week to explore Sydney and Canberra. I love doing challenge caches and noticed that Canberra was a hot spot for this type of cache. I booked three nights in the city. So many caches over here I will need to come back another time to work my way around the power trails. Headed out to this road after lunch to pick up the letterbox caches and any traditional caches on the route. After finding all the letterboxes it was back to the trads. Another quick find. Signed the log and replaced the cache as found. Thanks ALL7 for the cache. After doing around 40 caches out this way I can't remember each one of them but I am grateful for having them placed here. Greetings from New Zealand.
Our second target for the day was to look for caches in the "Drive to Uriarra Road" series. We started at #7 and worked our way to the end. We were hoping to get this series and the remainder of the caches (that we didn't search for yesterday) on Mountain Creek Road completed before the sun set.
One of the things we really enjoyed with this series was the readily availability of safe parking in all but one location. This made the driving component very relaxing.
Unless stated otherwise, the coordinates were reasonably accurate, the caches were found reasonably quickly and and the caches and contents were in good condition. There was a greater variety of cache containers in this series, with some being very unusual.
Thanks ALL7 for the extensive amount of planning, cache preparation and placement that went into this series. It was a mammoth undertaking which is greatly appreciated.

The penultimate day in Queanbeyan.
BettyBoo3747 and I decided to head west and investigate the Uriarra Village.
Picked up a small pile along the road out there and back.
A lovely sunny day with lots of bikes on the road.
We had never driven out along this road before, lovely views and good spots to pull off the road.
Thanks for this series.

#15868. Day 15 of our 2 weeks holiday in the ACT and surrounds. This is our last day before heading home tomorrow.
What a gorgeous day the ACT has turned on for us, blue skies and sunshine and wonderful autumn scenery as we take the long road to Uriarra Village. Rob is hoping to finish off the Mapping Challenge today so we need to head to the Village for a cache. A most enjoyable day caching away from suburbia. We finished the day with 65 finds and 2 DNFs so can't complain about that.
Doing another Drive to Series along this very scenic road. A maintenance run of these and the Star War caches would be a good idea as a lot of the lids are cracking and some of the logs need attending to because of that.
Thanks ALL7

JoeyLovesTreasure and I had planned before the Clear Waters Mega Event to come out to Denham Prospect after and pick up the caches around the area to give us some more smilies, and today was the day, so we met up at the Tuggeranong Hyperdome at 10.30am and off we went. It was a great day, weather just right and we couldn't believe how many houses have gone up since I was out here last. We parked the car and walked over to gz and it didn't take long till we found the cache signed the log JLT & DD. I really enjoyed the company and great chats along the way this was number 10 for the day. tfctc ALL7

A group of us, geoturtle37, beckNmonts, OzHockeyChick, Earthbound Chief and I, took off today to grab some caches in them there hills. We had a great day with only one near miss. No other incidents so a good day was had by all. Thanks for placing all these caches in such a lovely area.
Out with OzHockeyChick, Papi4506, Geoturtle37 and Earthbound Chief for the day, we started on this trail. Much running and leaping up embankments occurred. From one car there was loud music and the occasional singing heard. Scary stuff. We made our way through the trail with only one person, who shall remain nameless, almost becoming roadkill. All of the caches we searched for, we found, and all were in good condition. It’s just such a shame about Carrie Fisher, isn’t it? Such a waste! Thanks so much for placing this series ALL7
