Our stage today takes us from Kaikoura to Picton. On the way we see sea lions again, many wineries, unusual stones and trees and great beaches. The caches also take us to places we would not have otherwise visited. This way we explore the area and can turn some caches into friendly smileys. A big thank you to all owners and greetings from the Moorhelmi from Germany
Good one!Hopped the grass and found and signed, watched closely by muggle heifers across the road. Thanks capperz

On a road trip with Net61 exploring Kaikoura and finding as many caches as we can. We were keen to find this letterbox cache as there are not many of them. We searched a few trees before finding the right one. Thankfully the cache wasnt hidden up in the hole high up in the tree. Thanks capperz for the letterbox cache and smilie
On our way back to the north (towards Nelson) we had a quick stop just after the boarder of Kaikoura.Havent logged a letterbox cache for a while and wanted to find one in NZL. So I spend some minutes to find and log this cache.TFTC #441
On the way south for a birthday celebration. Stopped by here to grab this special type. Second spot I looked in was it.
I got close, but there were still several places the cache could be hiding. I had to check them all before I found the right place. TFTC.

I'm down from Auckland for a couple of weeks and today drove from Kaikoura up to Havelock and made a quick detour to find this letterbox cache, which was a quick find at GZ. TFTC!

TFTC Thank you for hiding this cache. You have shown us a new place and have helped make geocaching an enjoyable activity.
Quick roadside stop on our way south. This is a beautiful part of the world. A place to pull over about 59m away.
A summertime trip to the South Island, what could be better. Day five, and having flown to Christchurch and then driven to Timaru on day one, and cached around Timaru on day two, and back up to Christchurch to see a band play on day three, and then up to Kaikoura to see the same band play again on day four, it was time to chill out and check out the town. Along the way I'll be looking for Geocaches, and here's one I found. No problem, once I got to the right tree. All good here. --- Thanks to capperz for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with Geocachers like this creating them and placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues. Tb 'Legostein' was not found in the container. I found it hard to fit the first container inside the second easily as they are different shapes. Thanks for the letterbox cache, capperz#10212
Geo-trails are a good clue!Had to stop for this hybrid in honor of my friend who taught me about "letterbox"! A grand adventure! TFTC!
Letterbox hybrid along the way so we stopped to sign. No problems with the cache today. SL TNLN TFTC!
**20,349**Just had to stop to get this one, literally, because we need a couple of letterbox caches for a challenge cache we hope to complete. Great to see this one on our route to Christchurch to visit with family. TFTLBC
On our way from Dunedin to Picton on our New Zealand holiday I stopped by this cache and had a bit of trouble opening it... The lid was on askew so it became a team effort to open it. TFTC. My find no. 8.216. I dropped a TB here.
On our trip thru New Zealand we always look for nice places. We visited the seal colony and on our way back we picked up some caches, this was one of them.Greetings from team Camperfietser
Quick find then big effort to budge the outer cover! Totalled jammed on. Finally extracted the log and replaced in better shape for next finder! Thanks
Heading down to Christchurch for the weekend. Had time to grab a few caches on the way. Managed 10 caches all close to the road. Quick stop, find and sign. Had been looking for a letterbox for this months Wheel Challenge. Cache all fine. Great great name. Thanks for the smiley
Collecting a few more 'minute' caches. Another trip up to Nelson then Blenheim for the night for work. Now on the return journey to CHCH
Collected this as it suits this months Wheel of Challenges. Took a bit of time to collect... I was a few trees down, and kept returning to one spot. Then suddenly my phone decided actually it's a few metres along.. Should have used the GPSr instead. Nicely hidden though, thanks for the placement... really good to collect another one of this type.
TFTC capperz, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 6 find(s) of 7 today, making this find #4240

Kaikōura was already behind us again. But it was time for a break. We were able to park near the letterbox. The rest was routine.

Day 6 of my Spring Holiday. Leaving Christchurch and heading to Hamilton with an overnight stay in Picton. A couple of stops along the way and this was a nice quick find with the very obvious catchers trail TFTC
We were in NZ on a holiday hoping to spend a bunch of time geocaching; however, we ended up in ISO due to positive COVID tests! Once our mandatory isolation was over we were able to travel a bit and grab some caches on our trip. This cache was on the to do list for today. Cheers and TFTC.
G’day there capperz, we were in this area today and found your cache Rings Twice-That's what he always does (N.Canty) GC7XGZ3. Our name was added to the log book at 11:41 am on 17 July 2022. A huge thanks to you for placing this cache here for us (and others) to find!
We took up Geocaching on 3 March 2013 and this cache brings our total find count to - 13633.

With the CO out of the region, and me travelling nearby I received a prompt to find and check this out. Original logs are beyond recovery. I've left 2 new small waterproof logs and a new outer container. Cheers
Both logs soooo wet they couldn’t be signed. Had to drain water from container. Cache needs maintenance. Thanks for placing.
I've been meaning to stop by here every time I drive through Kaikoura. Pleased to have finally made it, a little scratched by nearby brambles, tftc!
found right tree after looking at hint tftc
Planned West Coast trip put on hold due to atrocious weather. So an alternative route was needed to avoid the rain. Not so! The rest of the south island copped it too..though on a lesser degree. So mainly driving north with the odd random cache finds. Seeing plenty of country less travelled a bonus. Spending a few days in Kaikoura then heading back down south

The second cache on this road and it was easier parking on this side of the road. Finally spotted the cache and signed off. Left a laminated TB to continue travelling. tftc
I had parked my snail shell up in the nearby NZMCA park and zoomed back in my cachemobile as all the parking areas for the caches were a tad small for my complete rig.
Had to park on the opposite side.
Cheers for the cache.

Thanks for this Letterbox cache, capperz - I have been meaning to stop here for ever such a long time - and today I made time for the detour after a particularly long stop for roadworks along the coast south of here.

In NZ for a few days for work. Today was driving to Christchurch via Kaikoura to catch an afternoon flight back to Australia. Only time for a couple of stops to find caches. A quick find here. Left TB. TFTC.

Up from Dunedin on a roadie from Auckland to Christchurch to get a good number of North Island PWGT caches and some others.
With the North now behind me I will concentrate on caches for challenges and finding challenge caches. Quick detour here to add to my letterbox cache numbers. Easy find with the geotrail. Tftc

Found after a short search... gps needed to settle... so we looked in a couple of incorrect places first! Nice to find another mailbox cache TFTC
Actually checked three hole before getting the right one - one had a gumboot in it! However the hint and coordinates were spot on. Thanks for this letterbox cache capperz, and a very appropriate location it is too.
Nice to be away on another geocaching trip with tmann421, travelling to a few places in the upper South Island.

Thanks capperz for putting out this Letterbox cache for woolwood9 and I to find!

A bonus jolly with SJT_NZ as had intended on driving up Rainbow but road was closed so enjoyed the drive down the Molesworth and up the inland route. Picked a few caches with some favs for a few stops on the way, a quick find and liked the stamp. Thanks capperz, all in good order.
A quick find with Tregearp as we took a couple of days out to complete a long overdue desire to drive the Molesworth Road and then return via the Inland Kaikora Road as the Rainbow is currently closed. We weren't doing too many caches on the way back up SH1 but this one took our fancy. Cache was quickly located with all in good order. Thanks capperz for the cache .
I found this one while Stretch0 looked elsewhere on our way up the country nearing the end of our road trip - log signed - thanks for the cache
Followed the directions on the phone and spotted a likely hide, meanwhile Niteowlnz had gone elsewhere picking up the cache. Signed and returned to it's home. Thanks for the cache.
What a good idea, a letterbox on Postman road... Grass was high and wet, especially for our little one, we found the logbook and container in very good condition. Thanks for placing this here, the stamp was very appropriate too!
We have been in Christchurch for a few days visiting family. Quick stop on our way to Blenheim for the night. FP. Thanks capperz for the cache.
#11 on our trip to Kiakoura signed as Jackson cos he found the swag was cool too
Stunning winters afternoon so time to get the juniors outdoors and tidy up some missing smiley faces! Went to the wrong spot initially but young eagle eyes found it pretty quick! TFTC
Nice little letterbox on a sunny morning.

I am on a bit of a getaway this week. Having a domestic holiday and road trip in lieu of some international travel plans that were cancelled due to the strange time we find ourselves in. Today I am heading from Nelson to Kaikoura via Blenheim, finding a few caches along the way. Last cache for me today. Nice to be able to end the day with a special letterbox cache. Took a little while to zero in on the right place but got there in the end. TFTC, Biggles.
Cache was an easy find as co-ordinates lead straight to it. There were no letterboxing clues.
Breakfast in Blenheim followed by a dozen caches up as far as Rarangi.
Now on my way to Christchurch where my couple of days of March madness will begin.
Ooh. A Letterbox cache. I can't go past this one on the 29th Feb otherwise I'll being hanging out for another four years for an "add-on" - LOL.
A quick park and grab. Wet grass with some probably welcome drizzle.

I advise to not go in bare feet walked out with multiple splinters in my feet. Cool geocache find though
I headed out after work to grab this one. There were a few options at GZ, including one tree with a boot in it. I soon found the cache just where it should be and in good condition. Tftc, that fills in a dot day and gives me an R for February.
I started my great and unique round trip over the South Island in Christchurch.
My first major stopover was at Lake Tapeko - here I hiked up to Observation Mountain.
I then planned two days in Mount Cook NP with some unforgettable hikes. My big goal was the Mueller Hut - on a super strenuous hike I reached it.
I continued my journey over the lonely Danseys Pass to Dunedin.
Afterwards I drove along the Southern Scienic Route via Invercargill to Manapouri for some days. On this route I visited many sights and enjoyed the beautiful nature again and again.
I already booked a tour to the Doubtful Sound in advance - another highlight on my tour.
Afterwards I drove on to Queensown and Wanaka. From there I continued over the Haast Pass to the lonely Jackson Bay with storm and heavy rain. Afterwards I drove along the west coast always in pouring rain.
The rain stopped the whole west coast, but I had good rainwear with me. Only high up in Nelson the sun shone again.
Soon I reached the east coast again in Picton and Blenheim and the sun was shining again.
After a few days I travelled back to Christchurch via the beautiful town of Kaikoura.
At the end of my round trip I spent a few more days in Christchurch and its surroundings.
I visited many geological sites and found many caches on my round trip. In Rangiora I visited an event.
I travelled 3418 km and take home a lot of positive experiences.
Thanks to many beautiful caches I was also shown unique locations, historical sites and geological features.
I am overwhelmed by the fantastic and ever changing nature on the South Island of New Zealand - I will definitely come back.
Many thanks to all owners

Enjoying a short break in Kaikoura. With this being a letterbox cache, it was on my list of must finds. The cache was a quick find. TFTC.
On holiday with my dad (Hole-in-one2) who is visiting from the UK, stopped at the wrong point first and then extended the search, soon had it in hand. TFTC
Ouch. Managed to grab a bit of box thorn. Oh well. It'll give me something to do later (digging out the thorn.)

Family holiday time...loaded up with bicycles to find some fun tracks. A couple nights Kaikoura, a couple in Blenheim & then finally a couple nights in Richmond.
Staying in South Bay. After a couple nights in Kaikoura it's now time to head for Blenheim....stopped by here; just because. Quick find and sign. Cheers.

Getting towards the end of a quick and last minute decision to visit the South Island, we couldn't resist stopping for a letterbox cache as we had a little spare time before catching the ferry. This is indeed an ideal place for a cache of this type.
No problems making the find here, thanks for setting it up capperz

Caching with Sidewaze on our way home after a family Christmas in Christchurch. TFTC
Another thing I would never have known were it not for caching - - - oh a couple of things in fact - - - the movies and the road. Thanks for adding to my knowledge and for gifting me another smilie of the letterbox hybrid variety .
We went for the day to Kaikoura to take family from Holland so they could do whale watch trip while we went caching. This was our first find. Thanks for this cache capperz.
#17499. First find of our (somewhat delayed) Show Weekend trip away to Blenheim. I was a bit late to the search area. After finding nothing we both moved further up the road, and Troodles soon found the cache. TFTC.
It's been a while since StreetWalkerNZ and I had a caching weekend away and finally the planets aligned (and the weather forecast was good) for this weekend, so we made plans for a trip to Blenheim. A successful day 1 with 36 cache finds (plus 5 lab caches) , and 3 DNFs .
This was the first stop en route from Chch (we had to drive past unfound caches which is hard), but letterboxes are rare so this was a must find. I popped out to find the cache while SW slipped into something more comfortable (i.e. he swapped his longs for shorts), but I had followed the wrong geotrail, so he had to come and help look as well. In the end, I didn't need his assistance as once I moved to the right spot, the cache was soon found. Thanks, capperz, the first of many . TFTC.

No luck here at all even with a PAF. Found a tree feature a bit like a letterbox but nothing home. Got a bit cut up by thorns too... Later I was informed that the coords were a bit out here and I needed to look further afield. Never mind.
Berrydehamster and me are travelling in New Zealand for three weeks. We cross the country from north to south and back again by campervan, see a lot, do a lot, visit lots of places and meet a lot of people. It’s nice to be here and we have a great time.
As both of us are geocachers, we find a lot of caches on our travels. This is one of the caches we found. Thanks for your cache, capperz, that helped give us a wonderful time here.

Away again on another 3 day mission with rustynz and Rebel98, This time Lyttleton, Christchurch, Greymouth, Punakaiki, Blenheim, Picton and Kaikoura are in our targets, mainly to collect the Geotour caches and to have a heap of fun!
When we pulled up here, I thought I had this sussed, but no, it took several looks around trees and thankfully rusty called out she had found it. Her and I are needing letterbox caches for a challenge cache we did in USA.

The GPS bounced all over the place for this one. A few areas where searched, in the end I found the right spot, and could call out I had found it.
Thanks for the hide capperz, all good today
