Out scooting in the almost-dark keen observation skills paid off here. Log is a bit soggy! We are in Canberra for Floriade and took advantage of the great weather and fantastic bike paths to scoot around the town. Thanks The Farmers 5 for placing and maintaining the cache for our enjoyment.
Returned to the scene of a recent DNF today with Baristayan along for the ride and we managed to avenge!Very clever hide, and the lake was giving off a seriously silver glow this afternoon, very beautiful light. Reminded me a bit of the Orkneys up in Scotland. Thanks!
Found with buckoraiderBR said my help was needed, but I did nothing special this time. In no time BR had the cache in had I was looking on the opposite side, where my coords took me, but he came with the prizeNice area!
Last time I passed this way, muggles were swarming over GZ, taking photos of the admittedly grand view. Tonight GZ was deserted. After a short search and some thinking about the information in past logs, I played a hunch and discovered the container. Thanks for the cache The Farmers 5
Too good for me! Shall be back with Baristayan, shes a specialist at TFF caches
very tricky hide. lovely day out with the geokiddies, thanks fornthe safety warning, they stayed very impatiently a safe distance from the water.
Very annoyed. I spent 10 minutes trying to find it, sat down for a bit to read through the comments (as I do when Im desperate), and within a minute, my non geocaching mother told me she had found it. Whats extra annoying is that I knew exactly what to do from the start, just that the actual coordinates were very slightly different from the posted ones, so I didnt bother looking.Still, Tftc because it was a great spotSigned as UNN
Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Back in Canberra for ANZAC day. With a late morning start we were on the bikes through EPIC to the light rail then the plan was to ride between the bridges of Lake Burley Griffin but alas too many caches and too little time so another day at least to finish that task. Bit of a breeze today so whilst sunny it was still a little cool. some lengthy search didnt help with our time management. We saw at least 2 school groups cycling around the lake, lucky for us they were going the other way, whilst we were stopped having lunch. TFTC The Farmers 5
Found after a few minutes of hesitation...Very cool though, and had a couple of nesting sparrows watching us struggle.
Found 31 Mar 2024 at 5:39:59pmOut and about on a cycling tour of part of Lake Burley Griffen with Team_Crumble in a beautiful sunny day. We cycled about 20km today, picking up a few caches as we went. This one also took some searching but got there on the 2nd pass today. Many thanks to The Farmers 5 for placing Henry Rolland for us all to find
We heard about a Mega in Canberra a year ago. Having never been to the big capital, we booked our accommodation and the planning began.Which caches shall we do? Wow they really love their mystery caches in ACT! Ok, we need to get our thinking caps on and solve some of these puzzles pronto. We have made the trek from Adelaide to be here and appreciate the efforts of all those involved to make the Capital Geobash happen. We have hired bikes to ride around the lake today.
Part of the Sandgroper contingent that has come to the Mega to explore new hunting grounds. Its sure to be a great week with many finds and laughs with lots of great friends and maybe some new ones along the way. Thank you for placing this cache for our enjoyment. Logged as WA6
Exciting times over the next couple of weeks as we takeoff for the Capital GeoBash in Canberra! Its going to be a flood of Sandgropers over east, with a host of West Aussies making the trek east for the event. Im travelling with fellow Cockburn Crew members Leg5 and Barnzy12, starting in Sydney and hitting the road to Canberra, before returning back to Sydney. Honourary mention to our fellow member, Cravo10, who couldnt make it after recently introducing a new geocacher to the world the week prior. Once in Canberra, the agenda is set, well team up with a host of Western Australians to conquer caches. Collectively, were hoping to make it the biggest ever weekend for cache finding. Following the event, the journey continues back to Sydney, with a mission to clean up caches and new Local Government Areas (LGAs), ensuring no cache is left unturned in this epic geocaching adventure. Something tells me that well need a holiday after this, well, holiday. All logs have been signed as WAC to save space, abbreviation for Western Australia Crew. Cheers The Farmers 5! Join us in Augusta, in Western Australias South West, for WA Goes Big 2024 (GCAGV8Y) on Friday 20 to Sunday 22 September. Log your will attend now!
Cockburn Crew on tour to the Canberra Mega. Day 1 involved a bunch of caching around Sydney before making our way to Canberra for the Capital Geobash. We found a huge variety of caches, and its great to cache in new territory that we havent explored much in the past. Unlike our home state of Western Australia where we have found just about anything and everything.A beautiful day with great weather and even better company. Thank you to the local COs for a great day in and around this great country of ours.
The third day in Canberra and surrounds for the OzMega Geobash across the Easter weekend.Made my way to the event location for the first time today and enjoyed some of the festivities there throughout the morning. The afternoon was filled caching all over the place with a high priority placed on older caches to help fill Jasmer grids.Another day filled with an amazing variety of cache types and containers were located and with a large group the competition to get hands on the log first was high, with plenty of laughs along the way too. Thanks The Farmers 5 for placing Henry Rolland for me and others to find.I added my name to the log at 20:59 on 29/3/2024.This is find number 8544 for me.
Out and about again, headed over to Sydney early in the morning, grabbed a hire car and got some local hides before driving to Canberra for the MEGA. Super excited my first MEGA and heading over with 2 others from the Cockburn Crew - signed log as WAC to save time. This is 14390, hoping to clock over the 15,000 finds in the week in New South Wales and ACT.Thanks to The Farmers 5 for the caches we found.********** ********** ********** ********** ********** **********OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024********** ********** ********** ********** ********** **********Head over to Australian Capital Territory for Capital GeoBash MEGA - Canberras first ever Mega Event. TFTC nice & quiet this morning. Found with Crack n Lee Lee. No log in cache so a log page was added.
Such a cool hide. So pleased do it alone. Very clever. And in a pretty spot!?!TFTC.
Tftc. A sneaky but quick find.I left my pen in the car but will send a photo to CO
A very sneaky hide indeed. My hands are now black from touching stuff at GZ but it was worth it. Fortunately pretty quiet at this hour so hardly any muggles to navigate, even with the balloon festival on this week. Some did pass by but we explained what we were up to and they were uninterestedly onwards. Happy Pi day all!Log slightly wet (did this go underwater) but able to be wiped dry and signed. Thanks TF5. Very sneaky placement. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------In the spirit of reconciliation we would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of country on which we geocache throughout Australia and their long lasting, and ongoing connections to land, sea and community. TFTC. This is my fourth attempt at finding this one. And finally I have it. Once you find it, it is obvious.
What can I say we're do I start ...let's start at the start...arriving early I had the area all too myself ...I set upon systematically searching..the systematic searching ended up with me lying on my belly searching overboard...lol..feeling touching lifting.. I read through previous logs.. I went to sit on the different seats in the area to ponder things to ponder the hint........I came up with nothing.. I lost track of how long I had spent, but with my crazy plan to walk, the 16km+ circuit of the lake while caching I had to move on...l knew this cache was going to haunt me so l msg the CO to see if I could get a nudge..a big nudge was received...at the end of my big tiring day I returned with the added information ....SIGH yes I found the cache in a place I had looked but obviously not thoroughly. Doh...so sneaky...fav point for execution and a big thankyou for your help....for those that say easy find pfft...
Found it!

Came down here to watch the sunset on my last day in Canberra. Decided to look if there was any caches nearby before I left, and happen to be sitting right next to this one.
At an event 30m from the spot, but saw a couple sitting at gz. Was happy to wait a bit and give them space, but the group said "let's plough on".
Fortunately, the couple were my local baristas and friends. Quite funny. That's Canberra for you. They even joined in the photo.

Joined the small subgroup that headed off to collect this cache while at the event. Nice to have the CO checking on us to make sure we found it in the sneaky hiding place. Tftc Farmers 5
Was in the area today attending an event nearby. Fox asked if I had done this cache, which I hadn't, so we watched the location as there were some muggle who were perched enjoying the water and the views. After a while, we decided bugger it, lets just go over in mass and search. Turned out, Fox actually knew the muggles haha.. Cache was located rather quickly, happy snap taken and log signed by those of us who needed it.
Thanks for the cache placement The Farmers 5

TaurusSix and I are back in Canberra for a few days. It is a place that is very dear to our hearts so we always enjoy any opportunity to visit. This time one of us is here for a work conference and one of us has tagged along. As well as the work conference there is plenty of opportunity for us to catch up with old friends and of course to squeeze in a geocache or two or three …

I had envisaged getting another cache but with two DNF I needed one more before a significant find.
On arrival I realised this was not to be a straight forward search. I carefully removed items from picked that have the propensity to let thing fall out when I lean over. Then I started to look for the cache. I was beginning to think I was not going to find it when I hade a revelation and found it shortly thereafter.

Alislaur is on a roll today, spying this one first again with me and Flatfish23x3. I'd been intimidated by the difficulty rating of this one before so didn't look for it, but it's a cool hide! TFTC )

Decided to come out this way to check out the new development, and of course find a cache or two. Luckily for me the cache was quickly located! Thanks for the fun!

Nice hint, I touched a spider when I looked underneath, eeek... Can't seem to find it..
Easier than the D rating suggested. Not that many places it could have been! It’s in great condition. TFTC
Tricky little hide. Fortunately not many people about so I could have a good look. TFTC
#2705 Another clever hide in a very public area. Today the intermittent rains had kept some punters away and I was able to conduct an uninterrupted search. Nice concealment after a thankfully shortish hunt. Thanks TF5.
Found after short search, out for a walk with geodog and found I was nearby this cache
Spitting to rain as I approached the area, and because the place was deserted, I thought I'd give it a go.

Another farmers cache I wanted to attempt on the last day in Canberra. We had success on all Farmers hides for the whole trip, but today our brains just didn’t function for his hide style for some reason.
This one and ‘Tsunami’ were the 2 Farmers I planned for today. The previous hide I couldn’t spot and needed to ping CO for assistance, so I was determined to find this without a nudge, however 30 minutes spent searching in the hot summer sun and I felt I turned the whole spot upside down unsuccessfully, even nearly fell in the water (a bit too adventurous).
Gave up and asked co for assistance again, who provided a decent hint. Did a quick search and CIH. Don’t think I would have spotted this one myself for hours - tsunami I reckon we would have gotten ourselves without the hint, but this… - this was a great hide. Fantastic.
Defs worth a FP.
Tftc Farmers for the devious hides.

Today I avenged the DNF. No muggles about due to the unpleasant weather.
Fairly quick find, but definitely a sneaky one.
Thanks for the cache

It would summer is well on the way as it was bloody warm today! Time to dust off the shorts and hope they still fit.
Out and about today in the warmth trying to do caches where there would be no people....some success, some failures though.
Thanks to all the CO's, especially if I messaged you today and had to clarify my GZ

What a great spot! I got off work when the sun was still up today (just), and decided to go for a solstice cache. This one was a short scoot from work and on the way home. When I saw the difficulty rating, I thought it would take me a while. However my geo spider senses started tingling very soon after arriving, and I had the cache in hand quickly. There was barely anyone around, except for a personal trainer and the poor person doing sit ups, so I could sign in peace. The only person who may have seen me was the drone operator nearby. I have no idea where they were, but I thought I was being attacked by a mosquito as I returned the cache. I looked around and saw a green blinking light in the air! It you look closely at my photo of the gorgeous night, you'll see that Telstra Tower is pointing at it. Thanks for a very well placed cache in a beautiful new park The Farmers 5!
Had been out with six other cachers getting some multis in the parliamentary triangle and on my way home thought I'd stop here.
Good cache to get at night. Only had two scooter people pass while I was enjoying the scenery. The otherwise quiet night made it an easy find.
