Awkwardly missed that this was a field puzzle last time we attempted it today. Actually read the listing properly today and from there it all made sense. Very cool idea TFTC

I arrived in Townsville a few hours ago this morning and was having lunch at "The Old Train Station Cafe" and noticed a cache close by. After reading the concept I HAD to do it, as I am traveling on the Inlander in 2 days to the town of my birth "Mt Isa" for a family reunion. Thanks burgo78 for this cache and a fav point.

With great excitement we headed to Townville for the for the first FNQ Mega - we were very curious to see how much it had changed since we lived there pre-caching.

Our third day in Townsville and the Mega starts today. After attending the welcoming event we headed off to town and Cape P with maccamob, Pprass and squalid for the day to collect as many of the solved puzzles as we could.
We found a parking spot - one of the advantages of public holidays - and made both finds.

Thanks for contributing to the fun burgo78

Found while in the company of Pprass, Maccamob, and half of The Morris team - we are all having a lot of fun at the Mega. Thanks for the hide.

Found at 1:02:00 PM(t) in the company of maccamob, The Morris and squalid.
We were taken over to this cache by maccamob who found it yesterday and told us we just had to do this. Arrived at GZ and we were then asked what we saw and off we went. Looking at the hint gave us the location of the cache and a nano was found in the very first spot that we searched in - however it appeared that was not the container that maccamob had found. So a further search quickly embarked upon and what do you know - another container, but this time a bottle cap type!
Thanks burgo78.

During the Easter long weekend, it was all about the Townsville Mega event! Highlights included a hike at Cape Pallarenda Conservation Peak, walks atop the local mountains of Mount Stuart, Castle Hill, and Mount Louisa, checking out a few shady spots along Ross River, sewer pipe / tunnel adventures, and a scuba dive to see the Museum of Underwater Art at John Brewer Reef. The Mega events themselves were fantastic: Gadget lab caches, GPS maze, trivia night, tree planting CITO, and Cal's Escape Room. There was also plenty of geocaching to be had, such as power trailing through the geoarts The Saint and the Book, and the collection of challenge caches at Bushland Beach mudflats. My view of Townsville had completely changed from my trip experience, and much kudos to the Cache Qld Townsville Mega Committee.

Following our morning hike and walking around Jezzine Barracks, we took a drive around our Townsville accommodation, which was in the area of Queens Park and the surrounds. This was a puzzle that we had discussed during our Zoom / Sip and Solve sessions, and its ability to get GZ before our trip was probably limited. Upon our arrival, it didn't take long to understand what was required, and then it was a quick find of the cache at GZ. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. We decided to sign the geocache as DWEG1 (Davidwazza and e.gregory1) to save space in the logbook. Thanks burgo78 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Attending the Townsville MEGA as Team Tour de Ville and joined by Davinells today we attended the Welcome Event then scooted off to find some caches. I enjoyed this as I got to stand next to the railway name of my birth place for a photo - Hughenden. Must try and visit it before I get too old as I have never been back there. This wasn't a hard search and we were soon leaving our signatures. Cache replaced as found. TFTC

Sixth day of our trip to Townsville for the MEGA and we (Peppa, TMZ59, Imbunda and I - TDV-TIPP) with Davinells in tow are out caching after attending the welcome event this morning.
Parked nearby and made our way to the start of the train location signs. I have been here before 10 years ago helping hubby inspect the coating on the lightpoles along this walk. Didn't find any caches in Townsville while on that trip.
Today we found the cache tucked away in its hide. SL then returned as found.

Found on 15 April 2022. TFTC, burgo78.

Found while in Townsville to attend the Mega event.

I travelled up from Adelaide, taking a week or so so get here, meeting up with FeatherWaite to do some caching around the Cunnamulla area then continuing on to Barcaldine and Charters Towers.

While in Townsville I teamed up with Budgietas, Stainless-steel-rat and Gooseandegg on some days, including a day on Magnetic Island, and with Davidwazza at other times. When caching with Davidwazza, logbooks were signed DWEG1.

All in all it was a terrific week or so in Townsville, with plenty of great caches found.

Thanks burgo78 for the puzzle and the cache.

Found by Mary and David at 08:50. We had a DNF here last time we were in town, but it turned out that the cache was missing then. No such problem this morning, with a quick find. Had a great cup of coffee at the Cafe afterwards. Our thanks to burgo78.

Nyssaflutterby and I had a road trip to Townsville for the mega. It involved camping, hotels, cabins, tunnels, caves, beaches, trees and lots of laughs with old friends and new.
This was our first cache upon arriving as it was right outside our hotel.
A very clever idea for a puzzle.
Thanks Burgo.

Woohoo! Wombles and I had finally made it to Townsville While waiting for the other half of our QTAS team to arrive at our accommodation we headed downstairs to see what this puzzle was all about.

I was thinking too hard about it all but wombles was all over it! She lead the way and very quickly discovered the well hidden beasty. High five Our first find in Townsville.

Thanks for the cache burgo78 Big Grin

We got off the plane, grabbed the hire car and was trying to decide whether to head straight for our accommodation or head to the supermarket. We contacted Nyssaflutterby who stated that they had just arrived at the accommodation, (she knows how to find some good accommodation) so we headed for there too. Once our luggage was in the room we decided to head out to do some geocaching before it got dark. Nyssaflutterby and wombles & co had just completed the cache so they took great delight in watching our move for the field puzzle.

Very interesting concept.

We loved the puzzle. I would like to give a favourite point for showing us the area and for sparking my interest in looking at similar sites around Townsville.

I loved this puzzle for it’s simplicity and yet gets you thinking. A big FP from me.
(I was just talking about these types of caches at the COs event the day before).

I was playing around with this cache for some time trying to solve it from afar until I realised that I simply had to jump on the train and enjoy the ride.

Found it! Favourite point from us as we enjoyed our little train trip up to Mt Isa. TFTC

I checked on this one after yesterday’s DNF and it had gone on a journey of its own.
It’s now been replaced.
Happy hunting.

Caught the all-stations train from the starting coordinates. At the end of the line, though, we drew a blank. Checked out the black artefacts without a result, but there was nothing beyond except a strip of bare dirt which must have once been a garden. Our eyes are dim ...
Our thanks anyway to burgo78.

This one was a slight detour befor attempting karika's nearby Wherigo
Stopped at all stations, and quickly spotted the prize at the end of the line.

First full day of my biennial trip to Townsville to visit my in laws for Christmas. An investigation of the map reveals there has certainly been some caching activity since I was here last about 18 months ago on my way through to Hinchinbrook Island.

Whilst Mrs Crooked and youngest son visited CastleTown, I headed towards the city to see if I could clean up a few caches. Having DNF'd a lovie dovie nearby, a railway journey was in order.

Ambled through all the stations, even felt a little sorry for Winton, which missed out here. The clue was helpful when I finally reached Mt Isa. Missed the well camo'd container on my first pass, and took a spell in the shade to gather my thoughts. With my noggin out of the sun, I spotted the cache.

Nicely played burgo78

Visiting Townsville for work.
Went for a walk and a very condensed train ride from Townsville all the way to Mount Isa.
When I arrived at the Mount Isa platform I was a little unsure of exactly how to proceed, but the additional hint supplied just enough information to allow me to spot the cache container.
Thanks Burgo for this well placed hide. Now two names are recorded on the log.

Begun my search my reading up on the historical information on the old platform, the days before the high bridge at Inkerman and the long detours that had to me made back in the days.

Left Townsville station and visited the stations in order before making the find.

Thanks burgo for another cache

Got some inspiration for another hide while I was here Smile
