Time for this cache to go. Thank you to everyone who visited it.

I didn't look around super thoroughly as I was in my work clothes but I got distracted early on by an empty container which could well be a muggled cache. But there was no trace of any contents in or nearby that I could find so I don't know what I found. I sent an image to the CO to see they recognize what I found. DNF either way for me but possibly also an NM depending on what the CO says.

While in Wellington we detoured to this letter box hybrid cache. A nice seat here for the postman!. but dont take a seat to discover which is your right or your left. - or you'll go the wrong place. otherwise a straight forward find and all was well with the cache.
Thanks for this cache that i some how over looked when at the mega.

My first letterbox cache. All is in good condition, nice and dry. Thank you.

Last of three caches located in the area on a rather dreary (and at times, wet) Sunday afternoon outing. Found this one more quickly than I expected to. Flax hides are generally not my favourite! #2664. TFTC.

# 1632 My second letterbox cache in as many days. Went for a bit of a ride down the river pathway and this is my closest unfounded cache from home on the path. Always happy for a reason to get out my stamp. Cache all good here, thanks Ethness for this one.

managed to make the find between showers, with no one around it was easy to make the find, picked up the TB thanks for the nicely sized cache

Thanks for my first letterbox, cheers

TFTC - found with DVH, his first letterbox cache. Dropped a travel bug that I’ve had for far too long. It wants photos of beautiful beaches of which NZ has plenty.

Out for a nice afternoon stroll and found this one nice and easy. Signed and replaced. Bug taken. Tftc.

31-Mar-19
Didn't expect to stop here today so I didn't have my letterbox stamp ... however that wasn't going to stop us. A nice hot afternoon here - summer is certainly continuing late this year. So there were a lot of people out on the riverside path - particularly families with kids on bikes, it seems. Though there were enough gaps between the groups to make this an easy find. Thanks Ethness!

Lots of people out walking today, including a man carrying his dog on his shoulders, you don't see that every day! Big dog too Smile Found the cache and nice and dry inside, although it looks like one of the stamp pads might be leaking a bit. Added a TB which is continuing its journey. Tftc

Cache # 4,678 - A quick find, although worried for a few minutes that the nearby mower might not move off. Lots of cycles whizzing by, but none while I was retrieving or replacing. I love letterboxes ever since we accidentally discovered one (a real letterbox cache, not a geocaching hybrid one) up near the top of the Rimutaka Trail about 9 years back. I did my own research on it, and got my own stamp made, which I carry around with me and use for the letterbox logs. All good here, grabbed the TB. TFTC!

(# 4879). I was in the area dropping something off to someone when I decided to grab this one. Due to the drizzle this morning the area was clear of muggles. A quick find. Everything in order. TFTC

I had to dig out my stamp as it is awhile since we did a letterbox cache. Good size too fo a TB which we dropped off. TFTC

A trip out to the Hutt today to get some electronic goodies at Jaycar and I noticed that this cache wasn't too far out of way and in a nice spot, so easily worth a visit. And as it turned out, a nice easy find between passing muggles. Although I have never done any letter-boxing the history of it is interesting, as is the similarity the concept is to geocaching.

Many thanks for the placement.

Was at home and needed to go out for a few things and Mrs Yeetrees wanted to get out of the house so I decided that I would check and see what caches that I had in the area that would make for an easy driveby cache as we really didnt want to go too far out of our way and we were on another mission looking at pricing out some costing's for some more little pets.

The drive to GZ didnt take too long and once after we had gone and had a look at some very expensive pets at Animate, we decided that there must be some more cheaper options so we decided that we would go and check out some other options that we had checked out online.

As I got near the walkway entrance, I managed to find a safe parking spot not too far from GZ, as I was about to get out of the car, I spotted two muggles coming along the path and they stoped at GZ, but as soon as I got out of the car, they turned around and started heading back the way they came.

I made my way to GZ with Mrs Yeetrees watching from the car and once near GZ, I checked and the area was clear of muggles, read the hint and soon spotted the very clever hiding spot and soon spotted the cache.

Managed to retrieve the cache, signed and then replaced the cache back where I found it. Thanks Ethness for placing this letterbox cache here and for bringing me to this spot, TFTC TNLNSL (13928). Definitely glad that there was a spot for me to have a rest before I made the hard slog back to the car.

Now it is time to go and visit some more spots to check out where we can find some more cheaper additions to our pets.Surprised[xx(]Surprised.

The last day of our post-MEGA holiday in Wellington, so we spent the afternoon biking some of the Hutt River trail. Focussing on the biking rather than the caching now because we do need to get back, but we really must stop for a regular. Much appreciated!

As I was away elsewhere at the weekend no chance to take part in WENZ or find the new caches then.
A quick easy find today which was just as well as I had limited time before heading off to a commitment elsewhere.
I don't think I have ever seen so many previous logs in the log book when a cache has only been published four days earlier!
Gets a FP: with the proliferation of Eclipse tins around the area it is good to see that there is still space for a nice big cache.

TFTC.

This luckily showed on the map when Mrs SoBad was sorting a morning walk before heading home to Nelson. So she added it to the data base and headed for this as her second for the day. No problem to find it when the page was read. Three letterboxes in the weekend - and the rest stop was used to fill in this log.
Thanks.

Day five and time to head home to Christchurch. We have flights back in the afternoon after a busy WENZ action packed weekend. Today it's just Bbear44 and Jude_E
I love letter box caches and ones that are a regular size.
Thanks for hiding and maintaining your geocache.

Sadly there is no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. I plan on going to the OzGeomuster in July. To find out more visit this site: https://www.ozgeomuster.com.au

Down for the MEGA in Upper Hutt, Wellington, with a group, SethRaven, NZTravellers, HeMaLuDy, caching around the area.

Logs individually signed as "stik-a-crane" or "SAC" if space/time was short .
Time for the official photo celebrating the MEGA..

..thought the events were well managed considering a good sized turn out to the MEGA.

Thanks to all the CO"s for maintaining their caches ready for the onslaught...…

Passing by and I'd identified this newly listed Letterbox cache. We decided on a 3 cache find stroll to include 2 nearby Trads and a nice stroll it was. At G Z there were Geotrails around but on expanding the area theb cache was found and replaced. All good here and T F T C Ethness.

We are heading slowly back towards WENZ HQ for the prize giving and last event of a hectic, but pleasing weekend. Grabbing a couple more as we go, targetted caches all.

Another phase of caching for this caching day. Having been up the hill loop above Kevin Anderson, and then up the hill again for the event and Challenge cache we decided against the discussed ACOIAF series which would have involved a third ascent/descent combo. So we decided to head out on the Coast Road and grab some puzzle caches that had been solved in the weeks preceeding. I'd solved a few of the film onbes, but had run out of time for the music ones. Luckily we had time on the ferry ride over and Ricardinh managed a few of those to enable a 13 Puzzle cache rampage down the road. All were found and good parking at all except one - The Power (which incidentally is my least favourite of the songs in the series)
T F T P and Cs bigcheesenz.

We started our day by making a pilgrimage out to NZ's oldest existing cache placement, though we came out prior to the hordes to make a good start and ghet the most from our day. Much success here, all target caches made and all good. A nice loop walk around the Tana Umaga track too.
It's day 3 of the Mega weekend. Today has 3 events planned, a couple for walks on the agenda, some D/Ts I want for my second lap of the track and some other random targets. A decen tamount of finds and some great scenery sighted - thanks to the COs for that. Anoter good day in the region.
The big day(s) has/have arrived. It's MEGA weekend in Wellington region and the culmination of lots of hard work by the organising committee. Also, not to be forgotten, are the caches of the local, and not so local COs, which help the game to continue and enable the enjoyment of others.
The trip has been planned for a while now and the Blenheim contingent of Ricardinho.nz and myself are coming over early on Friday morning on the Bluebridge ferry (after an early morning (non-) 'event') before returning on same mode of transport on Monday lunchtime.
We didn't manage much caching on the Friday but made up for that with 3 good days after and over 100 finds for the weekend to boost my Wellington region finds past my Nelson region ones and even giving my previously prolific Auckland numbers a 'nudge'.
Over the weekend there was plenty of socialising, sharing of ideas, opinions and interesting conversations and a podium spot for the Geosaders quiz team. Allied up with some new caching friends and remet several other rarely seen friends from other areas of the country. A good weekend all around and even the weather played nicely with a sunny outlook each of the days, without it being too warm and uncomfortable. Plenty of events attended, pleasant walks experienced, a couple of bike rides along the Hutt River as well as a smattering of GROET caches for which we were GLAD.
Thanks to all of the cache owners for their hides and listings and looking forward to the next time I visit the area to continue the enjoyment.

I get a free flight a year on the credit card, so decided this year to use it to go to the mega, and meet mum here, leaving my little miss 2 at home with dad - eek first time flying by myself since she was born!!
With no time to plan anything, and a GPS that had decided to cark it, it was literally just me flying up, and then mum picking me up having planned & organised everything! I just brought myself and the clothes on my back!
Thanks to the COs for the hides, made for a fun day away Smile

Day two of our MEGA wellington adventure! The weekend was great and the Wellington caching community did a fantastic job of hosting the event and maintaining some great caches and the weather was perfect for caching! We started in Johnsonville and ended the day in Upper Hutt and the back and beyond caching to all hours of the night.
Pays to read the cache page! TFTC!

A rare letterbox, planted specially for the Mega. Capperz alerted me to this one so it would be a shame not to get it as we passed by. Two other caches in walking distance, so took 20 minutes to get the lot. Could see there had been a fair bit of activity before us, found the cache once search area was expanded. Thanks Ethness.

Mega Sunday, and our goals were the Kevin Anderson oldie and the others in that area, then the event out the back of Naenae with the collection of a number of caches up those tracks. After that, just whatever takes our fancy really. Ended up being the coast road out at Wainuiomata, then some earthcaches and others around Petone before heading back to the event for the closing. Thanks all COs for placing and maintaining the caches.

Called here this morning on the way from Wellington to the second day of the MEGA event in Upper Hutt. It took me a little searching to find this one - not because it was difficult but because the coordinates are about 13 metres out and I spent quite some time at the start searching in the wrong places. It was obvious from the degree of disturbance of the vegetation that others had done the same. Signed log, TFTC!

Had an awesome time in and around Wellington for my very first Mega. 5 days of caching and today = day #3 and was spent with Gadget169, Natalie247 and nofs. I wanted to do 11 types in one day which included the 10 Lab caches. Mission was accomplished and had lots of fun along the way with my caching companions. This was our chosen letterbox ?? TFTC

Big GrinBig Grin {FTF} With Gap (of Fap and Gap) and NZFlossy...

WENZ Mega Weekend is finally here... After experiencing broken sleep at our accommodation, it was time to pull it together and get out there...

Saturday: In obedience to the CO's instruction, we claim joint FTF of this cache... This was not the easiest of finds, as the iPhone gps kept pointing to the front area. A strange man popped up out of nowhere and asked if we were alright... strange indeed! The cache was finally located well away from our initial search zone. No wonder the area has been trampled to death... We needed this one to complete our 11 cache types found in a day. This is our last find, and Cache #7999. Our first cache tomorrow will be a milestone. TFTC.

Team BOP had descended upon the Wellington region for the 2018 WENZ MEGA and we had a lot of caches to get through over this 5 day affair. There isn’t a lot of down time (or sleep time) but it's great being here and meeting the locals, CO’s and other cachers. My online logs are largely cut’n’pasted because my memory has started to blur many of my finds together so apologies for that. We’ve signed logs as ‘TeamBOP’ or individually depending on log space and time. It's now time to go home so lastly a big Thank You to the Team - TNXPro, Davidsonclan, McJandals, NZFlossy, FapandGap & Squirrel Nutcase and anyone else that made this a memorable trip Smile [FTF] joint.

Day 1 of Wellington Mega
Today's mission was to register, collect lab caches, other events and hopefully 11 different cache types in 1 day.
Tall order but we made it with a few minutes to spare.
We also collected other caches that we had solved prior to coming.
Turned into a bit of a day so sorry for the copy and paste of logs.
Thanks to the cache owners for the placement of these caches.
Looking at the greater picture of the Wellington area we have only scratched the surface so will be back at some stage. SLTFTC

As per the instruction from Ethness (see below), a joint [FTF].

Today is the day of the Wellington Mega event. I had a few things to do this morning before I could come out to Upper Hutt. First, I coach swimming at Huia Pool from 6.50 am till 7.50 am. Then I went and did Parkrun Lower Hutt. After that I headed up the Valley to pick up a couple of caches that I had sorted out last weekend... and then on to registration at the Mega.

The email advising this cache had been published came out while I was driving on the way to the Mega registration. I briefly considered doubling back to attempt a FTF, but decided to carry on to Upper Hutt and leave this for another day. The, when I was at the CITO event at Trentham Memorial Park, a fellow cacher called bruzie pointed out that a joint FTF could be claimed so long as the cache was found before midnight. That was too good to pass up!

The cache is in great condition. All nice and dry.

I was aiming for 11 different cache types today. I'm pleased to report that I made it!

Thank you

Cherrys Rule

We'd been here there and everywhere chasing WPs for the W2W race but had headed back to do the CITO as we also wanted to find the 11 different cache types today. While we were at the CITO someone mentioned there was a new cache out with the offer of a joint {FTF}, and as we hadn't found a ftf during October (to continue our streak), we decided it was well worth the detour to pick this one up.
We parked up near by and wandered over to GZ to find quite a number of other cacher's already there. They graciously offered to add our names and return the cache as they knew where it came from - thanks whoever you were.
And a big thanks to you Ethness for this new cache.
