Logs
Almost gave up but a member of our group spotted this clever hide! Thanks! Log is a bit wet.
WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 80 - Yalgoo to Geraldton via Mullewa. After a great afternoon and night in the small town that is Yalgoo, it was time to head to the bustling metropolis of Geraldton. There were a few caches to do today, but five out of six of them were a short side trip off the highway to reach. Each was well worth the visit. I arrived in Geraldton in the early afternoon and had a late lunch as I set up. With the jobs done, I set out for a few caches around town for the afternoon. The challenge of suburban caching re-appeared and I was muggled out a few times and beaten by strings of DNFs at others. I did get enough to feel like I had a good day and I did the set of Labs at the HMAS Sydney Memorial. A very special place. Back to the van for dinner. Rain expected over the next few days, so it will be interesting o see how much I can get done.My afternoon started in the port area and worked its way into town for shopping, ending at the HMAS Sydney Memorial. The GPS had me in all sorts of places before it became clear where I was supposed to be looking. I almost gave up when I came across a bee nest. With one last poke I uncovered a cache that is different from what the cache notes say (not a metal container), but it had logs in it and despite being a bit wet is fine. Did not find but was with someone else who had found it previously and said it's not where they found it.
We may have been barking up the wrong tree today, but it was a DNF today for this one.
There was only just enough time to collect a few caches this morning with ilook4geo before the ominous looking black clouds rolled over and the rain came pouring down. This was fortunately a quick find, signing duties were done and we moved on to the next one. Thanks for this cache placement go to zombiestompbexx.
Caching in a hurry this morning with goingplaces2 before the threatening downpour happened. Everything was done as quickly as possible. This was one of the caches we found and signed. TFTC.
Caching in the Greater Geraldton area today. Our intention for the day was to attack some power trails and do map cleanup around town.
Cheers zombiestompbexx!

Out and about on an epic few days caching the Gero area. Lots of laughs and a great adventure
Thanks for this one zombiestompbexx

Enjoying a long, hot, weekend up in Geraldton Picking up a few caches while here, and even better converting a few previous DNFs into smileys This was one another past DNF that I managed to clear up Parked up and headed round to the awesome old tree. Was working my way around it when I spotted something suspicious and bingo there was the container - phew! Only afterwards did I realise there was a very active bees nest close by - but we left each other in peace so all was well Another great DNF conversion here No problems today, TFTC
Came back with an extra set of eyes who found the tin, had no log book or anything in it so have popped a new one in
Bad time of year to be looking for this one, heaps of leaf litter everywhere. Had a good search but felt like a needle in a haystack challenge so will come back another day!
Quite a quick find. Just be careful of the bees around the tree. Tftc
Find 9 of 29 with fourteen DNFs on a day-long 30km bike ride around Geraldton with not a cloud in the sky. Many more DNFs than we would usually register, this is a tricky town! Thanks to all the COs for placing and maintaining these caches.
Once on the other side this was a quick find. All good here.

Not a bison - it’s a mint tin. Bees are still active but not immediately near the cache.
Found easily, be careful as there was a hive of bees on one side of the tree. You do not need to go too near the bees to find
Outnabout collecting smilies. Lucky for me I approached from the right direction and found the container laying in the open. The remnants of glue indicated there must have been camo at some stage but this is all gone.
I have replaced and sent photo to CO for repairs.

Camo has been removed and cache was hidden after it being found out in the open.
After a few attempts at this one we took the grand kids along during the school holidays. Suffice to say Mrs S found it and she was very happy.

Hi there zombiestompbexx.
We found your cache **"Barking Mad"** today. (This makes our find count 22841).
Today we headed out to grab some caches that would complete the latest "Streak" souvenir challenge, and were lucky enough to get a couple of prior DNF's as well. Afterwards we met up with Ian & Sue (Team Pathfinder) for coffee along the waterfront. We thoroughly enjoyed today's cache finds, the fresh air after the recent rain has made the air crisp and clean.
We found 5 caches today & DNF'd 1. Thanks for placing the cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found your cache around 3m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in great shape. It's not a bison though.
**Took:** Nothing
**Left:** Nothing.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny

Out finding a cache for the streak souvenir. We did three laps of the oval too
IGD in Geraldton again with Barnzy12 in the passenger seat. We headed up late on Friday night with a “clean up” of remaining caches planned for the main day. Knowing from some posts that new caches would also be getting published today we knew we would be up for a bid day with the typical race. Our rest time was the event in the middle of the day. And a few hours in a basic motel. Sunday would also see a long day with minimal caches yet many KM travelled to find them! Thanks to all the CO’s for placing hides to be found.
Cache replaced. Difficulty lowered. Slightly bigger cammo. Has scribble stick and room for small swappables.
Hi there zombiestompbexx.
This is the 3rd of 5 caches we didn't find today. [:(!]
We spent quite some time here but we just couldn't locate your cache, so here's a DNF from us.

Ian and Penny

Mr OOH YEH was staying overnight in North Hampton so he left crazy early (about 1.30am) so he could get some caching in before he arrived there. He done really well with only a few DNFS which was good for Geraldton caches lol.. Thanks to all the CO,S for placing these caches
In Geraldton and had a small window of time to grab some urban hides. Targeted a few from ZSbexx as I had some success with hers in the past and have enjoyed them.
A quick find here. Very well placed. Could have taken significantly longer.
Thanks

Teamed up with local reticbob. Bees active fence side but they did not bother us whatsoever.
Thank you zombie
Thank you zombie
Double and Triple Checked this one. No Bees. GZ is clearer and even more accommodating than when this was published.
