Spring Victorian Incursion 2024.Day Eight: Maribyrnong and Hobsons Bay. Weather: just a few spots of rain today.Another quick find as I work my way around the lake. Thanks for this hide tackle_head.
Geoturtle37, myself and a couple of the grandies were in the area to run an errand. This was our first for the day and the grandies were super keen so we just sat back and allowed them to climb and crawl and roll around. Eventually we had to lend a hand. Thanks for placing this cache for all to enjoy.
Nice and quick find. Hung out here for a bit before moving on to the next cache. Thanks for the cool container.TFTC
Here is a short video of the track racing https://youtu.be/wIywB5nE5sI?si=Nl8bdzaEfxa42xr6
Found in the company of Veevers12, Mister Doctor, Sonic, and Detstar. Attending the event today was such a treat! It was wonderful reconnecting with familiar faces amidst the beautiful backdrop of the lake. As we strolled around, we couldn't resist grabbing a few caches along the way. Thank you for placing this cache adding excitement and adventure to our day.
Lapping the lake, we kept bumping into micaparamedic and both Riddells. But we got to this one first as we took on our bikes. Geo-hubby JonnyGoldcoast is an F1 GP fan, and was very interested to learn about this road circuit. Thanks for placing for our fun tackle_head. Cache on ??----------------------------------------------------------The nominees for the [**2023 Victorian Cache of the Year Awards** ](https://geocachingvictoria.com.au/2023-victorian-cache.../) have been announced. Find as many of these amazing caches as you can before voting opens later in the year. This morning I heading over in the car as early as I could to grab some nearby caches before the Victorian Geocache of the years nominations were event took place at Cherry Lake. I took the opportunity to park along the sea front and have a walk along the pier and around the local area. After a nice walk and few log books signed as well as a few adventure labs completed, I headed to the event. It was awesome to see so many familiar faces at the event and soon after I arrived the nominations started. I then took the opportunity to find the nearby WhereIGo while the BBQ was cooking. this unfortunately led me to think I could quickly do a circuit of the lake and get back in time for some sausages... unfortunately I got stuck on a fairly simple cache and my 10 mins turned in to 75 mins... although it was beautiful walk and I found all the caches (Eventually), I missed out on food...lesson to be learnt... eat then walk Anyway was great turn out for the nominations and it turned out to be a nice sunny day. Thanks for the cache and the hidelog book and signed and returnedFind #2656

After attending the Victorian COTY Nomination event, a lap of the lake was in order to collect the caches and AdLab that are located here. I walked with Mr and Mrs Riddell and kept running into LetThemEatCache and Johnny GoldCoast on their bikes. This was just one of the finds. The stroll around the lake took me over my daily step target today. Thanks tackle_head for placing this Traditional Cache to enhance the game board.
Found with sonic___, Mister Doctor, JuzzMagic and Detstar after the announcement of the 2023 Nominees for the Geocaching Victoria Cache Of The Year Awards.Continuing to enjoy the great weather and the great company on our lap of the lake, and whilst also completing maccamob's Ad Lab, we stopped for another familiar cache container here and had a little rest while the kids did a mini (very mini!) workout before continuing on.Hard to believe this used to be a motor racing circuit.TFTC tackle_head.

Over this side of town for an event, and the chance to find my first tackle_head caches. This was #9 of 10 once the main event was over and we all set off for a very pleasant lap of the lake. These outdoor gyms are great. After contemplating some exercise, but deciding to leave it to the younger group members, it was time to move on.TFTC
Checked the Geocache , it is there ready to be found and no maintenance required.
14:55Happy Leap Day!From a breakfast in Eltham to a sausage sizzle in Geelong... Via Cherry Lake. Because.Last find around the lake before heading for Altona Station to catch a train to Footscray for a connection with the Geelong bound service. Thanks, tackle_head, for the history lesson and the quick grab.#8295
Lovely sunny day to go cacheing with the bestie. After a few unsuccessful finds we thought we would head down this way to have a little walk.Cricketers playing and cyclists going past, made for great people watching. After a short walk to GZ the cache was found in very quick time.Found with lozzie88.Tftc
With a lovely mid-week day forecast, what better to do than go caching. After waiting for a muggle dog walker to pass by, I made my search and quickly located the cache. My thanks for the cache, tackle_head.
A cache and a workout, and first one found with our geobaby! Forgot our pen in the scramble of getting two dogs and a newborn in the car, but will sign next time we come to Cherry Lake ( maybe without the dogs next time...) Tftc!

*End Of Year Cache Rush On A Bike Adventure #24*Find 22 of 24 for the day. Apologies for the generic logs. I'm trying to get 44 caches today, and have a limited time span to do it in. Worse, I'm on a bike, and it *was* wet and grey... now the sun's out, and I had to shed a few layers. Thanks heaps for the cache, and happy Third Day of Christmas!Half way, with 3 hours left. I'm not going to make it. But the Tackle Head power trail sure did help.
I found this cache today on my Mega Geocaching Walk #7 - A 29,000 step walk from Seaholme, Altona Coastal Park, Cherry Lake, Altona and Westona. Walked to the spot that was exactly at GZ and also matched the hint. No cache there. After a few minutes, I scanned the area away and spotted something some 6 or 7 metres away that matched a cache type that I had seen many times today. I replaced it where the hint says that it should be. Very lucky to spot it and this is the third time in as many weeks that I have managed to spot a cache way out of it's hide. Thanks from D B-A

Down to catch up with good friend sharkiefan and help out where I can.
After hospital visit today we decided that we would tackle the caches and ad lab around cherry lake.
Weather was kind to us most of the way around, was only the final grab that we got a little wet.
A simple little grab we made harder as we both focused on the wrong bench and not our devices for GZ.

After dropping my brothers off at school, I had my eyes set on a beautiful winter's morning walk around Cherry Lake to complete the adventure lab and a smattering of caches.
A very useful hint led to a quick find. Thanks tackle_head.

While completing a walk around the lake for an Adventure Lab I took the opportunity to grab this nicely placed trad along the way.
With the help of the hint I was able to put my hand on the cache at the first attempt.

Just got to GZ and a mum and two young kids decided to play on the equipment . I’m sorry, this equipment is not meant to be used as it’s hiding a vital piece of spyware that may or may not save the world . So in undercover mode I went, sitting at nearby table, playing with Geopup till finally the family moved on. I quickly found the cache, signed my inscription that will save the world and moved on hastily before any other spies could find me.Thanks tackle_head for placing this cache and contributing to this great game. Happy trails, Deanside
By the lake where the ducks are found
We searched up high and hoped it was around

Interesting to read the last log about the flooding. No sign of that today. Found the cache and it was on to the next one. Thanks.
Attempting the Cherry Lake AL despite flooding I came across this cache. Quick work finding it. Given I've been chasing ALs to get the numbers up for the souvenir on offer I was beginning to miss the tactile feel of a physical cache. Glad to have found this one.
Needing to do some post surgery walking exercise we decided to try our luck at the Adventure Lab Here. But not passing up any others along the way.
This was our second tackle_head cache in one day and must say we really enjoyed the history here. We had never heard of this track but it must have been exciting for both the spectators and the drivers. It was not in operation very long but has quite a bit of history attached.
Again with great coordinates the well hidden cache was located quickly and our name added to the log.
Thanks once again Tackle_head for showing us interesting piece of history.

After finding treasure for most of the early morning, I’ve come here to find a quiet spot to have a Nanna nap, make a couple of finds and to check out the ovals in comparison to what I look after, once the sun comes up.
#20648. An extremely hot day forecast so we left the house at 7.07am by bicycles and headed towards Cherry Lake and Altona for me to collect some AdLabs and also some other caches as they appeared on the radar as we rode along the beach trails. A hot 28km ride and 4 hours spent in the saddle.
A second one gathered up as we made our way around the lake. Interesting history of the old road racing track. Another good little hide here in good condition.
Thanks tackle_head

Returned to find it after a previous dnf when it wasn't there, glad it's back again
Muggle free zone today, just enough exercise walking to GZ and knee bends to gain a smiley face.
Thanks for bringing me here.

It was finally a beautiful day today after too many rainy cold days so went out with the smallest geokid for a few scooter rides around this area to get some trads and a few of the new ad lab's that had popped up recently
After doing a couple of ad labs and bonus caches at point cook plus the cache in the Point Cook Homestead we headed over to Altona to do the ad labs and loop around the lake as well.
Surprisingly few people around today so this was also a nice quick find while my geokid tested out the equipment.
Thanks tackle_head for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

Needed to get a couple of smiley faces today because I was having caching withdrawals. This was on my way to work so I had to be quick because it was bucketing down. Lucky it was an easy find
Thanks for the cache

We got caught in the rain here as we searched for the cache. A quick sign and return before a mad dash for the car.
Thanks tackle_head for the placement.
Thanks tackle_head for the placement.
Damn, TackleHead really got me on all fours lookin like a mad dog
To Mr Tackle_Head, I actually found the cache scattered a couple metres away from the gym lost in the grass, so I placed it back to where I think it would've been. Thanks

Out on my own today waiting for a phone call from the hospital to pick up my sister. Park close by short walk easy fine especially there was no one feeling very energetic this morning so I had all the equipment to myself thanks for the catch
Having used the hint still could not find this one. Pretty sure it's gone.
Might need a check tackle_head

Felt like a little bit of deja vu here.
Think we've had a reincarnation.
The area has changed a little since last sign.
Not sure how long the cache will be here with the keep out sign in place.
Quick find for the cache which will need a new log book soon TH!!
