Outnabout with the lovely lucymogus while in town for a day collecting a smiley here and there. Another great day for caching. TFTC weekendwarriors4If youre reading this, could you do me a favour and log a will attend for the Sunshine Coast Block Party, Sunday 5th October 2025 - GCARTY0 The organisers need 300 Will attends to lock in the Block Party Status allowing them to organise some extra fun activities and events. Dont be the one that holds back waiting to see if they get the numbers, be the positive one that supports and helps to achieve it. Encourage all your Geocaching friends to get on board as well. Hope to see you there. And for anyone looking for bucket list event to attend, check out: GCANXX1 - GeoWoodstock XXI on 24th May 2025 in West Virginia, USA. See you there.
Out with Wollaston, exploring Dungog. Put our leggings on and headed for GZ. Containers lid was destroyed so we replaced with a slightly smaller container. Lots of moldy, mushy swag and old log book stuck together so we removed all the yuck, left a TB and signed the replacement log. TFTF
In town one night for work. Never been to Dungog before so taking this opportunity to find the few local caches. This is a nice big cache but unfortunately in very poor condition with a lid that's almost non existent. Log book is double bagged but it needs some TLC. Thanks for the cache.
Searched with kids for a good while and could not find Grass very long, covered shoes recommended! Will try again another day.
OCW Geospark62. Parked at top of hill and made our way to GZ. Needs new container.
Container is broken and it was full of water I have put a new book it for now but owner will need to get a new container
Cache was very much in disrepair, log soaked and attempted to write my name on itThanks for the cache and the view
TFTC. Lid is smashed, so cache was full of water. Have put log in a plastic bag to hopefully dry it out.
Despite the lid having a large hole, contents are in pretty good condition. Swap items have become very limited but the kids enjoyed the find. Lovely view. Fingers crossed for a recent cutting of the grass when you visit!

What a great drive up here, lovely town and great views! Really loved the pub on the corner, beautiful lacework on the veranda Day 8 of the travels towards Barrington Tops before heading to the 2024 Canberra Geobash. Thanks weekendwarriors4 for placing this here, contributing to this great game for myself and others to enjoy.
Great views from the Dr. Cache lid has a hole so we turned it upside down. Found on the Mega Capital Geobash coastal loop via Adelaide - Barrington - coast to Mexico City loop. A lot of caches and white line fever was sweated out. Thanks weekendwarriors4 and clear skies from TeamAstro. ?? After dropping geokid1 at Stroud for Scouts Corroboree we went for an exploratory drive in the area. We had to look for this one since we lived in Mackay QLD and this was at the end of Mackay St. Lovely views and I did disturb a kangaroo in the search. Thanks Weekendwarriors4 for placing and maintaining this cache. Its in excellent condition.
A quick trip to Sydney to meet up with RoamingHowie who was en route to QOGM.
Day Two: Main target: Frying Pan. Lots of other caches & AdLabs along the way.
A quick stop here atop the hill in Dungog.

Day 7. A last minute plan had been hatched to make my way to QOGM. Very little planning had been done but a very rough outline was in place and it was going to be a day by day trip.
OZHockeyChick had flown in for 3 days of caching around Sydney and Newcastle and today was all about finally getting Frying Pan, and collecting some other targets.
What a beautiful view from here! A nice quick find.
Thanks weekendwarriors4 for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy.

Very steep and slippery terrain after a bit of rain. Lots of burrows as well so watch your step.
Glad you took us here, nice views.

Spent a couple of nights with friends in Glaucester- what a nice little town with a brilliant community bookshop. Heading to Bathurst tonight on the return leg of our trip 'north for warmer weather': North East Victoria to Central Queensland, via Curtis Island! We have enjoyed the great variety of caches along the way. Thank you to all the COs who maintain them for us to enjoy.

This was a quick and easy find here at GZ today

Great place to hide a cache, and a wonderful place to sight see. We also saw some kangaroos and a joey in the pouch. TFTC
A trip to check out some of the awesome places in NSW and grab some old caches. TFTC.
Nice countryside here. Great sized cache. Strange garbage around the place.

I am staying in Dungog for a couple of days. The cache was in full view, but in great condition. I dropped off the TB 'The Secret Hamshake'. I left some bark covering the cache. Good view. Then headed back to my motel to get some dinner. Tomorrow, I hope to find the 2000 cache 'Frying Pan'. TFTC weekendwarriors4.
Cache found in the last place we looked. Removed food swap. Breakfast?
We headed into the flooded eastern states for a week of geocaching fun. The mission was Frying Pan. The only December 2000 placed cache remaining in Australia. All other choices for this month are international. Traveling in style and comfort we selected the next cache on merit and forward movement. Some back tracking was required in the wettest areas. Wildlife seen included a lyre bird, king parrot and a single leech. Mozzies were a pest. Caches were found and signed. Wet logs were wet. Water does that. Numerous TOTTs were employed.
Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun.
Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke für den Cache. Gracias por el caché. Bedankt voor de cache. Kiitos kätköstä. Zikomo posungira. Terima kasih untuk cache. Hvala cache. Köszönöm a cache. Nga mihi mo te keteroki. Dankie vir die kas.

Found on a trip from Adelaide to NSW and back with Freddo.
Our main target was ‘Frying Pan’ in the Chichester State Forest, near Barrington Tops north of Newcastle.
We allowed ourselves a week to travel there and back, taking a circuitous route through Victoria and NSW, camping each night and finding a range of caches of interest along the way.
Rains over the past few months meant a few detours along the way and plenty of water about, restricting access to some caches and camping areas. Many of the roads were quite chopped up with potholes and the mosquitoes were plentiful! But we had a good run with the weather, with just the odd shower, but mostly fine, warm and overcast.

We had fun walking up the hill with our friends. We dug around for quite some time and luckily found no snakes, before excitedly finding our first Geocache! Thank you for placing this cache.
11760 Located by baby&Mrs gopher at 1005. Drove up from Clarence Town to have a look at Dungog as this is our first visit. Had to find a cache or 2 so we started here. SL Tnx weekendwarriors4
I had a nice little scenic walk to GZ. An easy find once I was there. Thanks for placing the cache in this nice spot
Great view and somewhere we’ve never been before. Luckily, didn’t need to hospital.TFTC
Nice easy to find cache in good condition. TFTC. Found while wife doing 20km run at RunDungog.
This was easy once we worked out the best approach, the cache was quite visible from a distance once we were in the right place. Good to see a decent sized container as well, and the views were really good. Thanks for a very good hide and worthwhile detour off the main road.
Day 20, and last, of the road trip to Townsville with LuckyL10n for the mega. Today was day 7 of the drive back to Canberra.
After a night in Dungog it was time to pick off a few more counties that have been missed on previous trips. We travel through down to Raymond Terrace, then onto Sydney for a few northern counties before grabbing our last cache for the rip in Goulburn. Only a handful of caches for the day, however another couple of counties were crossed off
Many thanks to the CO's for yet another cache on the trip....

#14419 - 8:05:00 AM; Day twenty, the final day of the Townsville Mega adventure with Sol de lune. Spent last night in Dungog and heading south for home today. Only a few stops on the agenda today to add some more counties and an adventure lab. Unless indicated in the log, all caches were found in good order and logs signed L.L10n & Sdl or vice versa. First stop on a misty morning and ended up with damp feet getting to this cache to add our names to the log. TFTC weekendwarriors4

Final cache for the afternoon, on a day that we found some of the Dogs Head trail and then headed to Frying Pan to find one of the oldest caches in NSW. This one was located quickly by Mrs Shifter while Mr Shifter waited in the car.

We had hoped to find this one today but alas it wasn’t to be.
At the GZ it looks like someone has dumped a heap of grass and junk. I was unable to find what the hint eluded to at the posted coordinates
Thanks weekendwarriors4 anyway.

Came to Dungog for the Brewery and I was not disappointed. After a few beers the wife drove to this cache. Walked over and made the find. Big cache. SL, TNLN and replaced. TFTC.
Found while meandering around Dungog. GPS was not being helpful, and some inconsiderate sod had dumped a whole pile of dirt and rubbish there as well. Sun was so bright I couldn’t read my phone properly, because if I had, I would have been able to read the hint, which would have been most helpful. So after giving up and returning to the geomobile, I was able to read the hint. Back to due the duties.

After having a looking about Dungog ,this was good Lookout to enjoy, with a cache to locate as well Thanks weekendwarriors4 [The cache seemed to be a little exposed ,maybe it should be addresses]
On our visit to Dungog to the new mountain bike park we thought we’d also find the only geocache here. Thanks for placing it! Nice easy find. Sorry we had nothing with us to swap.
TFTF. Jumped on this one free a work trip to Dungog. Glorious views and lots of butterflies around today!
I joined a trip to Maitland with Aquilus1, dty73, Tankengine, Barb2e, Kitty Katch & Joolay. The weekends main game was to do the dogs head series, but along the way we did some old caches around Sydney and did as many Maitland caches as time allowed. The return journey was via some old caches and some challenges that may or may not be met one day.
Day 3's target was a trip to Frying Pan. The trip was great and the caches along the way and there lots of fun. I was very disappointed at just how many people were camping in a spot like this, I cannot see how it could be enjoyed. The afternoon was finished in Maitland with the Walka Lake Adventure Lab, a fun diversion.
Thanks for the cache weekendwarriors4

Aquilus1 and myself have been itching to finish the task we gave ourselves a year back of completing the counties of NSW... ALL. OF. THEM. So, while we have been long planning our next flight into Armidale with a big loop, the lockdown then Qantas cutting back flights we had to bring forward what was always planned to be the last trip forward.
As always on these county trips we have one eye on lots of little smaller targets, such as Ausmer, sizes, oldies in general and cool types. If you are reading this log, then this cache made the grade in some way.
We drove from Canberra through Sydney, collecting the 1 counties Aquilus1 needed there before heading on to the Hunter region where 7 counties awaited us.
Originally the plan had been to try to get to Lake Mac or Newcastle on the first day, but Sydney caching is just so slow with the traffic and crap roads, so in the end after an aborted night cache off the M1 (we forgot to bring a TV remote!!) we turned around and went back to Hornsby as there were motels down there with 2 vacancies.... as always, we got the last 2 rooms!
The second day actually got us further than we expected, 50m into Muswellbrook before turning around and getting to Dungog (what an Aussie name... love it), we managed to ring ahead and secure the last 2 rooms (again!) for $55 each. While normally you get what you pay for I had the best night sleep, and its hard to beat having dinner, then drinks, then going upstairs to sleep... that works! The local bakery also had a specialty of cheese & bacon topped sausage rolls (and I mean LOTS of cheese & bacon) so, when in Rome, we sampled this and it was as great and slimming as it sounds.
The highlight of the trip would be the cache 'Frying Pan', the oldest container cache in Australia and such a beautiful spot...love white buckets buried in the ground!
After that it was essentially just turning around and heading back to Canberra, with a slight detour to grab Sydney Geocache Relocated. All in all, three year 2000 caches, three or four year 2001 and a sprinkling of 2002 to 2006 here and there. Great trip, leaves us with 106 NSW counties ticked off, just one trip left to complete NSW, hurry up Qantas and start flying again.

Stayed in Dungog overnight at the hotel to be close to frying pan but a great choice in this pretty town. A county find here for this cache and a choice location with great views, lovely place.
Trip details...
With GreyHams we continued onwards with our NSW counties trip, started as a need to collect a few to make up some missing numbers to qualify for a challenge... ended that we wanted ALL. OF. THEM!!! This wasn't the planned trip we thought was next but with no flights it was our plan B and still a needed one any way.
The focus was on the 7 counties around the Hunter region, however I did have 11 North Sydney counties I was keen to collect. GreyHams was gracious enough to help me get them despite having them already. He also was the best navigator to assist me to drive through the crazy of Sydney traffic! Planner, Navigator, finder, signer... yep, he does it all!!!
This trip was about quality, counties, oldies, sizes, interesting, type. If your cache made it to our list then it was one of these. We found three 2000 caches and despite living so close I finally found Lane Cove, my first Australian 2000 cache and also my 20th.
Sydney caching took its toll and the day got away from us. We made the move to return to Hornsby and luckily scored the last 2 rooms, as we often do! Placed us well though to continue with a few counties close by before continuing on to the start of the needed 7 around the Hunter way. Kurri Kurri murals also led to a great lunch at the local chippery, the fish burger was just the thing! It has to be said that the bats up this way are of some impressive size, good enough to be off the roads before night fall and saw us stopping in Dungog for the night.
Dungog was chosen as it was close to 'frying pan' an awesome 2000 cache in a stunning location for the next morning. It turning out to be a great place which was a massive bonus. Again we managed to last two rooms upstairs at the local Hotel. Great priced rooms, great food and super convenient. Beautiful countryside around this quaint town and the local bakery we stopped at for breakfast is a must.
Rain the last morning didn't slow us too much, even made for the trip out to Frying pan in the morning as a more beautiful experience with everything all wet. Loved the evidence of the old logging history as we made our way through the area and then it was time to head back to home. Never a direct route though it was very full and enjoyable day as we continued through to the last of the caches we had time for along the way.
Many thanks for you cache that led us on our journey, another counties trip ticked off but another great trip it was!

Many thanks for you cache that led us on our journey, another counties trip ticked off but another great trip it was!
Found it after some looking. Had to crouch far down to grab it. The greenery is a little wild after the recent rain. The Cache needs some maintenance as it is a little rusty and wet inside. A lovely morning with lots of roos!
Thanks for the cache, found with -minn and davo! A lot of skippers around today! And beautiful green grass with all the recent rain!
