Heading north with tmann421 for a couple of days.Targeting the S.H.I.E.L.D series.Drove miles on narrow winding country roads completing many of them in the dark making the drive easier. Found with woolwood9 on our second day away mainly finding S.H.I.E.L.D. Geo-Art caches.Early start back on the roads at 7-15am. Soon had another good cache found. SL *tm/ww NZ****Thanks watcache for the fun and reason to visit this area!***
Hey! For once a character I recognise! Not that I ever read much about her.---I had a rough day at work last Thursday and came up to stay with some good friends in Palmerston North on a whim just to get away from it all. To run away, in effect. And that meant a good opportunity to finish the Shield series. Alas with a few DNFs and the CO not wanting to replace a missing cache the shield is not complete, which means it misses out on the geoart favourite (given the size, probably two or three favourites) so is limited to the occasional cache favourite. But I must admit it is a fantastic tour of the back roads. When I was younger I read a lot of superhero comics, but frankly I am amazed at the number of characters that the CO has found!
A nice quick find here as we continue along the road in an effort to put the S.H.I.E.L.D back together today. TFTC # 20,224
Yesterday we found 100 caches and today we are aiming for another 100 so we are off in search of mostly S.H.I.E.L.D caches with the odd one or two thrown in that we might be passing. Please excuse the mostly cut and paste logs, we are on day 7 of a 9 day mission around the Wairapa and Manawatu in which we found over 600 caches, its getting hard to remember exactly which one was which. Thanks for placing watcache

A nice quick find. Solved ages ago, collected as we passed today. Thanks for placing your cache.
Ms_KR and I were in Auckland for a few days visiting family, and now we are on the trek home. We left Ohakune @ about 0900 and got into the Wellington camping ground just after 1730. We had at different times during the day, wind and rain but mostly overcast skies. A great day for a cruise.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. .

Lis's crew introduced me to Geoart and today was day one of collecting my first Geoart caches. Thanks for the puzzle & TFGC and series.

With the Geotour coming to and end soon Yvettetb and I decided to go on a road trip to collect Tahi and Rua. Of course I had some puzzles at various places to collect and a few special types were added to the list too.
This was our 4th day. We'd stayed in Taihape last night and todays plan was to get closer to Palmerston North collecting my unfound SHIELD puzzles on the way. We eventually made it to Fielding after a sucessful day.
Great to have a geoart here. I was disappointed last time that we ran out of time to collect them. After today's run I'll only have 5 left. I didn't grow up on Marvel comics so I didnt know the characters talked about in most of the descriptions. I do know the standard old ones. Very pleased to have another quick find here. Again I really do appreciate your efforts with these caches

After solving all of these puzzles in anticipation of visiting family in Feilding for Christmas, we added an extra day on to our trip to make the finds. We left Feilding at 8:30 am and after attempting all of the caches in the series and a number of other trads, multis, ad lab stages, and a virtual we returned to Feilding with a cache count of 102 at 10:30 pm. Along the way we marvelled at the number of hawks we spotted along with a huge variety of other birds, and many bugs, especially after dark. The views were amazing and we stopped far too often to take photos of the mountains (we could see Ruapehu, Ngaruahoe and Taranaki at various times). We were watched by a number of cows, bulls and sheep along the way. At times the grass we were searching in was taller than we were and much time was spent once we returned home picking the seeds from our socks and boots.

Before arriving in New Zealand I had solved all the S.H.I.E.L.D. and most of the 20/20 series. I had set a day aside to do them with my geodad so today was the day.
This was the thirteenth of 63 finds today, Easy puzzle to solve and the quickest park and grab of the day so far. I am a biggish fan of the other spider superhero.

I had broken my puzzle final finds into 3 phases and that meant keeping an eye on the map for correct turnings and turn around points. All worked well enough though.
After my big day out to Taranaki region yesterday it was a more sedate plan to head out for some 'local' cache treats, some of the S.H.I.E.L.D series over the other side from my last onslaught some 18 months ago. A pleasing haul of 26 caches was made, just the one non-watcache was found, thanks to tat CO and geodatum. Nice to be back in the area where we lived for 5 years before we headed to Blenheim, then latterly Auckland. Was a hot day but kept cool enough with the windows cranked down and on the dusty tracks and trails. Got my Unknown cache title past the seemingly impossible (or so I once believed) total of 1800 today too, so a Project-GC badge upgrade is coming too. I only made notes on the first few finds, then the last few so apologies for most of the cut and paste.

This is the second day of the second visit to the Manawatu to pick up the S.H.I.E.L.D. series with Flowerydaze. These back roads are easy driving with no one else on the road. Soon got used to leaving the car in the middle of the road knowing I wouldn't be blocking anyone off.
I've been working on the SHIELD series during the most recent lockdown and am working through finding them all with the assistance of Talla64. The scenery we've seen has been beautiful and the roads very quiet. In fact on the gravel back roads we saw no-one. It's been a pleasure to come out for a drive in such lovely countryside and we appreciate all the work that watcache has put into this series. So thank you watcache, for the puzzles and the caches.
Have been working on this series over the winter and after weeks and weeks of rain and the only sunny days (about 4) my driver has been working so we jumped at the chance of some fine caching weather this week and decided to come down and turn this geo art into yellow smilies so we started out at 5.30am this morning from Taranaki and after a ‘quick’ detour to Wellington we ended back up here to get as many of this series done before dark. Thanks for placing this art watcache…we need more…;)
A quick find but had to replace the log with some water proof stuff as the other paper stuff was mush!

On my first SHIELD hunt, started this side road and rain came in - in waves at first so could get out and sign in between belts. But as i made my way down this road rain started really coming in. Cache log is damp, including the new bit, was inbetween rain bouts for me so sorry didnt want to hang around to try and dry. Still able to sign but the other signatures are starting to run together. Apologies i didnt have a small enough plastic bag. TFTSeries.

#1640. Yesterday was S.H.I.E.L.D day #1. Today was day 2. I had started solving this Geo-art series in 2019 but never made the time to start collecting. Yesterday, I knocked 22 of them off, with no DNF’s. I got a heads-up from GSEL on some puzzle types I hadn’t come across before, and have now only 5 unsolved to go.
Having driven up from Wellington in the rain on Monday, it was nice to wake up again this morning at our B&B in Halcombe to more sunshine, same as yesterday. With GB Leader along as navigator and occasional cache spotter, it was back on the back roads again, after a lovely coffee at the iconic Rusty Radiator café in Halcombe.
Some great scenery along the way - saw lots of trees, birds & animals, and a reasonable amount of traffic. Most GZ’s had safe parking nearby.
Solved: 12/08/19. Time found today: 4.38 p.m.
Number of this series found today: 13/14. Total this trip: 35/36. Still to find: 54.
Road condition here: Gravel.
Details: Another wet log - replaced & tissued the old log.

#9112. I decided today to visit the Manawatu to pick up some geocaches. Managed to get 40 done before heading back home to Wellington. My main target was a bunch of Shield series puzzle finals but I decided to grab a couple of the new geotour caches along the way. After an overcast start its turned into a hot sunny summers day. Onto the Shield series now. I enjoyed solving these back in 2019 but its taken me a while to come up this way to pick up the finals. This is my second go at signing the logbooks and I will need another round to wrap them all up. Good series of puzzles. Some much tougher than others. This was a straightforward puzzle. Nice quick find. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache where found. Thanks watcache for hiding these puzzle caches here.
Today I made it my goal to hit all the S.H.I.E.L.D. caches that I hadn't visited yet.

Out on a weekend caching trip with Buttels with the aim of picking up the SHIELD and 20/20 series and mostly solved puzzles along the way. Sorry for the generic log, but most of these caches blurred into each other. There appeared to be three types of caches (power pole, brace and bison) mainly with a few other interspersed types. Found all of the SHIELD barring about 4 DNF's. We plotted a route prior to getting out here to reduce the amount of backtracking on these back roads. Managed to get through the whole SHIELD and 10 of the 20/20 plus a dozen others in the day before it got dark. If there are specifics about a cache, I will write them after this:

It’s not often I have the whole day to cache so the challenge today was to collect as many Shield caches as possible. Set out early around 6am and would love to say we got all of them but sadly not. Found 87, DNF 3 and Sheild 9 we still can’t solve (any helpful hints would be appreciated). Most of the finds were straight forward and if they weren’t I have added a comment. An exhausting day with so much gravel driving but satisfying to see the Sheild near completion. Thanks for all the effort in setting this up. We had a good time.

By concentrating on my driving rather than checking on my in-car GPSr, I missed this cache on my outward journey, It was a quick find, though, on my return.
This was my first trip to find S.H.I.E.L.D caches. I didn't get to search for as many as I planned but I satisfied to make pleasing progress.

The crazy Labour Weekend plan is now in full swing. McJandals, NZFlossy & Davidson Clan are joining me for 29 TMGT Caches, the Shield & Stickman series and what ever we can find in between. Almost all the caches were found quickly and good condition with exceptions to those not equipped with water proof paper... We’ve signed individually or as TeamBOP depending on time, log space or mood. I’d like to acknowledge watcache, mar1ssa & the TMGT volunteers who have given this trip focus, and all the other COs who have made this trip such an adventure - TFTC
I’m using a Cachly logging template for these logs but I’ll endeavour to add to these once I’m home again. Apologies but until then it’s pretty much cut’n’paste from here. Thanks again.

On a caching weekend with McJandals, Phillip Perry, and Davidson clan. After staying the night at a Airbnb we got on the road early to pick up the Shield caches. Enjoyed the puzzles and then collecting them as a team - Team BOP. Lots of fun and laughs on some back roads and even picking up a few extras. Thank to the COs for bringing us here and creating some great puzzles and caches T . TFTC
With no mega this year, a plan was hatched with Team BOP to come to the lower Nth Island to get some numbers knocked off, so here we are and loving it!! I am logging using the Cachly app template so please excuse generic logging along the way. After finishing some jobs around the farm, we decided we'd make the most of a wee bit of a break in the weather and make some inroads into solving the mystery at the museum case, with the first step being to find some more clues.
We'd knocked off the majority of this SHIELD series a while back, so we figured it was time to finish off some more.
I'm having to log these a little randomly so as to pick up the clue one's first, so hopefully I don't miss any.
No problems here.

An early morning drive up past Kimbolton to find some more solved S.H.I.E.L.D puzzle caches. Thanks watcache for this puzzle cache.
For my personal challenge of working towards getting my calendar on GC.COM to be at least the same shade of green or darker I need to sign off at least 12 caches today. I won't grumble if I find one or two more I decided to do caches north of Kimbolton today.

We teamed up with SiderosNZ to make a serious start on finding our first batch of the S.H.I.E.L.D series of caches today. We signed the logs as GeSi to speed up our journey.
Mrs G had solved all the puzzles a while ago now, but had held off the finding until numbers were needed.
The puzzles had mostly been fairly straight-forward solves once she had got into the patterns presented, but there were a few that caused much consternation to her little grey brain cells! It was quite a relief to finally have them all solved and ready to go.
Thank you watcache for the huge effort in setting all this up.
We left home while it was still dark this morning so we would have time to head off to the wonderful Kimbolton Sculpture Festival after we had completed the caches we had set down for today.

I took advantage of two contrasting forecasts, Wellington:Wet / Manawatu:Fine, to head up this way and get stuck into finding the caches in this series. What a totally unexpected day and it was just great! Even the weather was right… no wind no rain and yet the light recent rain had dampened the roads so we didn’t get covered in dust. Ideal!
We visited about 63 caches leaving about 26 to go before time ran out on us, so these will have to wait for another visit some time in the future. I found them a little disconcerting- in that I expected them to be in a sequential run but this was not the case but with guidance we traversed all the correct roads etc for the caches that we did and also visited one Trad. Signed another new cache yet to be released and located a multi on the route home. So a very fruitful day of laughs and great company- thank you to the two of you.

Found during a big weekend geocaching from Whanganui to all of the S.H.I.E.L.D. series out the back of Kimbolton and other areas areas too numerous to mention
It was a great weekend and some caches were signed 2 Bulbars but others were signed 2 BB/ hay short for Hayden seek.
The wet weather held off as we expected it to rain but no it stayed fine for the series which was a bit of a plus. Regarding the SHIELD series we spent many hours working out the different formats and a big thank you to the Co who guided us when we got stuck
It took about 10 hours to do the shield series and we travelled many back country roads and at times I wondered if I was lost but we always came out to more major roads. It was this back country travelling that made it so enjoyable. As far as I know no animals were hurt during this trip into the out back

Belatedly and slowly logging this series. I completed the entire series on a clean sweep on a hot summers day. I remember having a lovely day out collecting this series and stopping for lunch along the way. TFTC watcache. Have added a few favourite points throughout the series. Much appreciated.
(# 4951). Today was the day to the S.H.I.E.L.D. series. Started off in Kimbolton doing 3 non series caches then the series via various back roads and finished off just inland from Hunterville. A quick find. Everything in order. Managed to get 94 caches (including all 89 in the series) with zero DNF's. Lots of smiley faces. A marvelous day driving in the NZ countryside with Just-Lookin. Agent of Shields is one of our favorite soaps. When we were on tour in Australia the geoart was published and we started to solve them immediately. It took a while to solve them all. We also had some help from the owner for a few riddles. Thanks for that. Today is our second day of collecting the remaining caches. We found about half of the caches yesterday.
Today was “SHIELD” day. Yeetrees, -gonefishing- and I were heading up to attempt the SHIELD series of caches on the back roads of Manawatu. It was an early start (5.35am) out of Wellington. After over 7 hours of caching we achieved the series plus a few more. My personal tally for the day – 117 finds. Thankyou to all the CO’s of the caches found.

Yesterday we found the first dozen or so S.H.I.E.L.D. puzzle finals as we drove to Feilding in our campervan. Today we are back in the area, this time in our car, to tackle the rest of the series.
We had an enjoyable time travelling the back roads and finding all but two of the S.H.I.E.L.D. caches we looked for (a total of 73 caches). Parking was easy with the car, and most of the finds were straight forward, but a few had us searching for a while. Many thanks for setting up this puzzle series and creating another must-do piece of geoart.

Third outing of the S.H.I.E.L.D expedition.
After solving all the puzzles late last year, I have made my way back to the area this morning after leaving Taupo at 5:30am.
Spent much of my time again on gravel roads again, this time with the misty drizzle keeping things cool. Almost finished the series, with only two DNFs remaining to be dealt with.
Cache found safe and dry, coords spot on and often helped by clear geotrails from recent finders.
Many thanks for the effort that has gone into this fun series and great piece of geoart.
After having come down State Highway 24 a week ago on the way home from the Waikato and found 21 of the SHIELD series of caches, I had a free day today and the weather was good, so decided to come for a day trip and have a cut at some more of them. I now had solutions for all the puzzles; this was an easy one. A quick find here - signed log, TFTC
Found 12.23pm
Day 2 of our Manawatu Trip.
First thing this morning was to complete our targeted caches plus we would start on the Shielded Puzzle.
Had solved a few so guess we will be back again at some stage.
Great weekend's caching and even better I actually arrived home in the the daylight hour which is not the norm when we travel like this.
Sorry, but as our cache collect was big, paste and copy had to be our option.
Thanks to the CO's for all these cache placements. SLTFTC

Wow what an awesome geoart trail nearly have them all solved now for a return trip down. Was out with Gap from FapandGap the squirrel nutcase and myself signed the logs BGH our initials.

With Gap (of Fap and Gap), and Mr Davidson (Davidson clan)... We had big trouble trying to find accommodation last night. Our usual haunts had no vacancies (due to racing at Manfield), and we were forced to look much further afield... Ashhurst, was not ideal, but it was better than nothing... We awoke to another fine day. It looks like we are in for a hot one... Our mission for today centered on two trails. All logs are signed with our first name initial - BGH...
We spotted this S.H.I.E.L.D geoart mid week, but couldn't find any time to dedicate to a bulk puzzle solving mission. Instead, we thought we might just arrive on the trail and wing a few solves on the fly... (I feel a Tui advertisement could be inserted here.) It didn't happen. So we sacrificed Mr Davidson, and he worked on the solutions, while we drove around picking them up. We arrived on the trail before 11 AM, and planned to be on the road home by 2 PM... We left at 2:17 PM - Not bad at all...
We enjoyed our travels through the middle of rural northern Manawatu. The expansive views were very beautiful on a fine day... Each cache was in good order and found with spot on coordinates or hints. The first few caches were harder to find because geotrails had not yet been established. As the day drew on, we found that some sites had been trampled needlessly... This took some of the fun out of those more tricky hides. We did meet a couple of car groups on the trail, and it was encouraging to speak briefly with the occupants... We were pleased to find 31 S.H.I.E.L.Ds today, but have a lot more work ahead to complete the trail. Thanks (watcache) for establishing this amazing piece of geoart... TFTP and TFTC.

Was at home doing some chores and walked inside to my office and saw that there was some new emails on my computer and thought to myself that this is quite a few emails and I was wondering what was happening, either someone has found heaps of my caches or there was a few new caches just being published. Well guess what it was the later , and guess what they were puzzle and there were 89 of them and there were all in the Manawatu, well not quite, north of Fielding [xx(].
I thought to myself that I would have a look at them and see what I can do, so I started looking at the first cache at 16:00hrs, decided that I would have a break for dinner about 19:00 hrs, then it was back to solving some more and I decided that at 01:45hrs that it was time to go to sleep......
Woke up at 03:00hrs and was soon back on the computer and started solving some more caches and decided that once 05:00hrs came around it was time to get ready for work. At that stage I had managed to solve 56 of the puzzles, was wondering to myself as if I should throw a sickie and solve the rest and go for a raid, but thought better off this thought.
By 06:00hrs on Tuesday I had managed to solved 70 of the puzzles, now only 19 to go, was thinking to myself that it was so tempting to go and have a look at getting these caches, but the distance to the first cache was going to take just over 2 hours and I had already had some plans for Wednesday pm so this was not going to happen.
After spending the night in New Plymouth I woke up early and managed to get a few more of theses caches solved and with the help of a few friends with the remaining ones that were outstanding and were starting to get a bit more difficult we finally managed to solve them in the end.
Finally having all these puzzles solve but the last one that was S.H.I.E.L.D 9, I decided that this was enough caches to give it go and see if I could find a cache or two on my way South back to Wellington I decided to team up with mar1sa
After finding GC7Z23Q - S.H.I.E.L.D 14 (manawatu), this was the next cache that was on our route as we were making our way around picking up a few of the S.H.I.E.L.D caches. As we made our way near GZ, mar1sa was able to find a safe parking spot that was not too far from the final GZ and once I got out of the car it was just a matter of making my way to GZ. Was rapped that I had decided to put my leggings on as the tall wet grass was no issues and since the rain had stopped and it was getting very pleasant out here.
Arriving at the final GZ, I soon spotted the Geotrail to GZ and it didnt take long to make my way to GZ, then it took me a few seconds for the GPSr to settle down and once this happened it was just a matter of finding the cache. The CO was starting to get a bit more devious with their hides , but I was lucky and I soon spotted something that wasnt suppose to be there.
Managed to retrieve the cache, signed and then replaced the cache back where I found it. Thanks watcache for placing this cache here and for bringing us to this spot, TFTC TNLNSL (13984). This was another very interesting puzzle cache and didnt take too long to solve once I found that a word document could save me heaps of time on these types of puzzles and saved me from getting blind.
Now it is time to go back to the car where mar1sa was waiting patiently to go to the next cache on our list. Giving this cache a favorite point as it is the first cache in this series since I am loving the Geo-art as well. 6 of the 89 S.H.I.E.L.D puzzles cache series found, 83 to find and 1 still yet to solve.

Both Yeetrees and myself had a chance to grab some caches after work tonight.
between the drizzle and rain (all braved by yeetrees) we managed a few finds.
thanks for the placement and a great bit of Geoart for us to do.

Crikey, where to start! Well I guess it started on Sunday with a Facebook post stating that 89 new caches had been published. So a quick scramble to check them out…hmmm, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D themed huh! Not a program I know much about but since when has that ever stopped a determined geocacher?
So a quick look at some of them and clearly there were some patterns as to the type of puzzles that needed to be solved. I quickly solved a small handful that evening, but on Monday the guy I share my office with was on annual leave so I was able to …cough… get on with lots of work
The temptation of FTF is always a big draw card, especially with so many of them on offer, even if the travel distance would normally be prohibitive. So by Tuesday afternoon I had 75 solved out of the 89 and thought “why not!”
I left work straight after 5pm and about 80 minutes later I found the first of them. As it turns out, this would end up as mainly an evening of “always the bridesmaid, never the bride” for me as I was either second or, occasionally, third to find, but I was at least successful in finding 5 out of 8 of the available FTF’s that I had time to attempt on my journey before tiredness and the weather (very heavy rain at times, and fog later on!) made me call time on my adventures at about half past midnight to start the log drive home again.
I found this one easily enough thanks to the hint and good co-ords, and then found that I had been beaten to the punch by less than 2 hours! Still, I'm happy enough to be able to be the second to find {STF} and chalk it all up to experience and the thrill of the chase!
Thank you Watcache for setting all these up. I can only imagine the efforts you've gone to with creating so many over such a wide area and range of roads etc. I can't give a FP to every one I found, but have given one to each of the 5 that I was FTF on.

It is a bit of a slow period at work at the moment as we wind up towards the end of the year, so there is plenty of time of some geocaching puzzle solving. I was stoked to receive 89 emails on Sunday, notifying me of 89 new caches, as I was in a quandary as to how I was going to find 113 caches in December to firstly qualify for the 250 caches in December cache, which would lead to the 250 caches in every month cache in the Wairarapa.
I have solved 80% of these puzzles, and with the slow period at work, this means that I can also leave a little bit earlier making up for some overtime worked throughout the year. The solves for most of these were fairly straightforward and in some caches the annoying reCAPTA/Prove you are not a robot thing, took longer than the actual solve - some of the images were quite small and grainy, but in the end I managed to satisfy the computer that I was indeed human, so that I could check the coordinates.
The find here was quick and easy. TFTC & [FTF] @ 1632
