Logs
Found GZ with some trinkets but no container or logbook, see photo. A beautiful sunny day here.
Think we found it??? No book or box as others have found but found a coin, necklace and keyring? Not sure if this was it or something g extra?
Were in Launceston for a few days, and we thought why not look for some caches while were here? This one was looking to be quite a challenge for a little while, but then I took a step back and the spot was about as obvious as can be! A great hide in a great location. TFTC DaryVafder!
Today we headed into Launceston to Cataract Gorge to do the Duck Reach walk, AL and to find some cache. Weve been here before many years BC and did the chair lift, very inmemorable. I think we enjoyed todays visit a lot more, even if the husband was being more than annoying . This was the first cache found on our walk. The box is destroyed but the log etc all fine and dry in a baggie. Really does need owner attention. TFTC
The balsa wood container is too frail for the heavy rocks on top of it. Signed the log and put all the treasure in the bag. No container really left so its a mess. TFTC. SL at 14:45pm.
Great cache. Has been damaged in the recent rain. Booklet is saturated and box glue fell apart.
Thank you very much for replacing this cache. frown turned into a smile, lot of cool swag in here, and swapped for a bracelet
Hi DaryVafder. Today I/we attempted to find your A Launceston Treasure. Unfortunately, one of the following happened and that made us unsuccessful in logging a find :1. Hadnt rubbed all the sleep out of my eyes. 2. Hadnt had breakfast so was concentrating on filling my stomach. 3. Had someone else with me and they couldnt be bothered looking and wanted to leave. 4. Had muggles hanging around waiting for me to leave so they could relieve themselves. 5. Wrong time of day. 6. Wrong time of night. 7. Wrong information given to me about where the cache is hidden. 8. Coordinates out by more than 10 metres. 9. Nobody has blown up the nano factory yet. 10. Too much or not enough water / light / GPS signal. 11. Flat battery in navigation device. 12. Cache has been stolen / muggled. 13. Such a small cache hidden in such a large area (fake rock in a boulder field / pico in west coast horizontal scrub)14. Too far up the tree to reach with the ladder AND the pole. 15. Too far down the hole to reach with a magnet or grabby tool. 16. I gave up looking. 17. I need to be somewhere else soon/now/a while ago. No offence intended! One of these may actual fit my DNF on your cache.
Like others I could not locate this cache. May pay for the CO to do a welfare check.
I found where i believe the cache is located however i could be wrong, think this one may need a check up.
During our beautiful two-month trip through New Zealand and Australia, we arrived in Tasmania by night ferry. We pick up our rental car and drive to Launceston. We arrive early and still have plenty of time to explore Launceston's Cataract Gorge. This cache was found during our walk through the gorge.**DaryVafder**, thanks for the cache.
We are currently on a eight week holiday which is mostly spent in New Zealand and Australia. However, the first three days were spent in Singapore as a nice break from an otherwise long flight. We had about three weeks in New Zealand which went by too quickly. The remaining five weeks are spent in Australia. Last night we had the ferry to Tasmania from Geelong. Picked up our rental near the ferry and drove to Launceton where we will be staying for one night. We arrived very early. Luckily our room was already available. After settling in we went to explore Launceton and the surrounding area. We had a nice walk in and around the Cataract Gorge. We also visited this cache. It was quickly found without any problem. Thank you very much for this cache.
Quel beau parc!
An easy find for us but a little challenging for our muggle friends who have come caching with us before. A beautiful spot to come visit! TFTC
Thanks for the cache, there wasnt a pen inside so Ill sign it when I come back to the gorge
[9032] Holidays on Tasmania, day 11. Today we stayed in Launceston. We hiked the Cataract Gorge up to the old power station in the morning and explored Lanceston and the City Park in the afternoon. It became another great day with perfect weather for a day out. This geocache was part of our tour today, thanks for placing it! And it became also the 100th find during our holidays. TFTC!
#2733 This is my day 258, and the longest physical cache find streak so far. I want to see how far I go. I am on a family vacation in Australia, and Tasmania road trip is our main highlight. Today, we visited Cataract Gorge and found some caches.Thank you for the cache!-crystaloops from Taipei, Taiwan @ February 17, 2024 11:34:53
Caching at the Gorge has been on our list during our last two caching trips to Launceston but both times we ran out of time and didn't get there. This time it became our priority for the trip and today we headed to this wonderful part of our state to tackle the Adventure Lab and the caches there. After tackling the first two stages of the Adv Lab we travelled on the chairlift to the other side of the Gorge and the next thing to tackle was this cache. Mr Beetle didn't accompany me all the way to GZ and waited below. As I was nearing GZ I stopped for a breather and looked down to notice a suspicious looking pile of rocks. Investigated them and soon uncovered this cache container.Have a very similar box at home. Thanks DaryVafder or the workout and the smiley.
While visiting Cataract Gorge, I collected the nearby caches. The GPS coordinates were out when looking for this cache, with the cache being found ~10m away from the stated GZ. (Thanks to the hint the cache location could be determined).A wonderful cache container!! However it did not keep the log book dry, and it was too wet to sign.
Today we visited the Gorge and had a beautiful time there. 21263During our great trip around the world we arrived in Australia after visiting Canada, US, and some places in the Caribean Sea and Central America as well as Fiji. Besides lots of sightseeing, we can't do without caching, of course. That's why we also passed by this place, searched for the cache, found it and successfully signed the logbook.Thank you for hiding and maintaining the cache. Only thanks to dedicated owners is this beautiful game possible.Wir danken alle Cache-Ownern fr ihren Einsatz, denn ohne die Gemeinschaft ist dieses tolle weltweite Hobby nicht zu realisieren.
On our long term trip from Germany to Western Australia / Tasmania / New Zealand for about 3,5 month, we arrived Tasmania and picked up some caches. This one was a quick and easy found. TFTC
TFTC, this is a really fun one to find if you have children! Nice little walk.
Located with Ricardinho A quick find in-between muggles cruising by Day 12 of our Tassie/Sydney trip, and today is Launceston & exploring the Cataract Gorge.Weather wasn't really playing ball in the morning but we didn't let it stop us & up side was a few less people at the Gorge The scenery is beautiful here even on an overcast rainy day & the sun did occasionally sneak out too After lunch we explored city park & I enjoyed the monkeys And last outing of the day was a quiet walk around city streets admiring all the beautifully maintained old homes while RNZ sorted the church caches he'd solved the day before.Another awesome day in Tassie TFTC
A quick find here on this track. We just had to wait for another couple to pass and then we were signing the log. TFTC DaryVafder.Day 12 of our Tassie trip, and today is Launceston. We didnt have the best of weather this morning, but this is our only full day in the town and we have to make the most of it, so we were off to Cataract Gorge for starters. We sifted around there enjoying the scenery and wildlife, scraping together enough info for some earthcaches and visiting an oldie just up the track a bit.The afternoon fined up a bit, so we explored some inner city parks before going for an afternoon walk to nut out church micros and look at old houses, something close to RG72s heart.Another great day, loving exploring this state.
Searched for this with FireTiger and I found it quite easily, really good cache lots of fun to look for.TFTCSnowLeopard
Found while in Launceston to pick up our new van ready to convert to a camper. I had a little time to kill before heading to Davenport to hop on the Spirit of Tasmania and it was suggested to me to visit this awesome spot.Loved the cache container as well, very fitting.Cheers and Happy Hunting Southern Cross Caching
Very, very cool design to be found! If you need an extra clue, look for a wooden box, not one of those silver capsules that are sometimes hidden. Its easy to see once you know what to look for! Very cool!
Found with McAdies and Jelly_Bean14.We are on holidays in Tasmania. What a great spot and thanks for placing a cache here for us to find.
Found with McAdies and Geo_Eddie.I am having a great time visiting Tasmania.Thank you for placing this geocache for us to find today!
Found on our Trip to Tasmania. What a beautiful spot here.Fantastic Cache and such a bold hide! The treasure chest was certainly an unexpected touch. Thanks for placing the cache for us to find today.
Took some visiting muggle friends out for a trip into Launceston and decided to show them the ropes. Much to my surprise they discovered this one much quicker than me! Cute little container although was quite hard to open, thought it might be some kind of puzzle box… but we eventually got it open.
TFTC!!
