We were on our way home from the Mega, and as we went via Ballarat to see Mr Dromaniax's father in the hospital, we decided to grab the cache closest to our Centroid to meet a Challenge cache.

We hadn't been able to make the exact calculation, but we knew it would be around Timor. So we decided to find all four caches just to be sure.

This was one of the four.

We found the cache in fading light, which was in great condition.

Thank you HansandLinda for this Traditional cache.

Staying in Maryborough overnight on our caching trek Big Grin
So glad that we took to the scrub for this cache Smile
Had an adventurous drive in as the Lil' Red Truck's gps led us off the track to GZ SadSad
Finally got back onto a track that took us to the info board near GZ SurprisedRed Face
We really enjoy these type of caches that take us off the beaten track and are full of history

Was told by my work to have Monday off from work so i turned that into 3 days, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and I picked a spot on the map that I can not remember ever visiting so Marybourgh was the spot.
After such a big day yesterday the plan was to a have a bit more of a relaxing day and take it as it comes.
Some more dirt back roads to contended with which is a nice drive and to also be away from the Hwy.
A sad story but a nice little memorial to some one so young and innocent.
Good to see that it is still here after all of these years.
Another spot you would generally not find if it wasn’t for caching.
After searching in a few spots I soon located the cache, added my name to the log and now lets see how many more I can find today a bit more of a relaxed pace.
Thanks HansandLinda TFTC.

We were taking the road less travelled today and having a look around in the bush. This was a very sad story. How many stories these trees have seen?
Short stroll to GZ where we paid our respects. Thanks for the cache.

I walked in 600m to this one from the east. Lovely morning up here

Found at 4.45pm, A mini adventure reaching this one. Only a 1:25k map showed the tracks, which were accurate and led us straight to the cache. A very sad story. We paid our respects to the area and continued East to the highway. Only a few mud puddles to negotiate. Amazing lack of signage to this spot and story. Only a sign 70m from the cairn..
Thanks for showing us this hidden snippet of history.

I know I've visited this spot before Smile
In search of a previous incarnation of this cache Razz
But it was good to take the tour again Big Grin
Memorials don't get much spookier that this one [:o]

There's something about the mention of a pool of blood that makes visiting this spot way creepier than any cemetery !! [:o]

Based in St Arnaud before the official start of the 2019 St Arnaud Mega, was close enough for a family call to Bendigo, of course the route we chose offered many a stop to nourish our caching addiction. Our second visit to this site, the story is no less poignant.

Thanks 'HansandLinda' for adding this cache to the gameboard.

Find # 8504

I had to make a trip to Maryborough for a check up so after the medical was done and a spot of shopping partly filling the ute. I headed home and on the way I had this cache on the "To-do" list.
I have been here before back on the 4/8/2012 for ,the now archived, cache by the same name, The Memorial GC2MW72
Back then it was an eerie location and seeing as I knew what to expect here, well, it was still an eerie location.

A sad story but good to see this piece of history put back on the Geocaching Map.

Took the most direct route into this one but decided to find a less rough way out. Well this lead to a looooooong drive through the bush. making for a true Geocaching experience. A few possible wrong turns, a gate across the track my GPSr said was accessible, and a couple of time my GPSr had me bush bashing and not on any tracks. Happly I managed to get out before darkeness Smile

Found today with Explorer Nan, while enjoying a day out in Maryborough and surrounds. Oh boy what a sad story this is. A very special place indeed, and yes, a very cache-worthy to bring us here and pay our respects to Ellen. Definitely somewhere we would never have come (or a story we might never have known) if it hadn't been for caching. TFTC HansandLinda.

Find No. 2608. Found at 10.39am.

A trip to Maryborough and on the way we planned to grab this one.
Going in off the Dunolly Road meant we didn't get too far in the car due to road conditions, but we knew this and we don't mind walking.
Mrs Tyred n Cranky has been to this site before with FUF009, a few years back now when she found it to be a very eerie place to be, with definately an aura around this site.
This time she came with Mr Tyred n Cranky to find the new cache and to see if he could sense the same thing.
The cache was a quick find. Such a sad place to be, knowing what happened many years ago.
And yes it is still eerie and still the aura.

After an invite from my great caching mates the suscoe's to venture up the highway to Ballarat and beyond well you cannot knock that sort of an offer back.
Up early, shower, breaky, cut lunch, sort out the thermos and milk and the other caching bits and pieces and eight o'clock is here and the silver wagon is coming up the hill to the Ant Nest.
Up in the area for the Event which is next on our list, but it is the first time I have been out here and what a sad story but interesting as i had never heard about this before.
A fair way off the beaten track so we may be the only cachers to venture out here today but you never know.
Thanks HansandLinda for bringing me out here today.

Suscoe and Bushfire decided to have a day out caching between Geelong and Maryborough.
We made good time heading up the highway and enjoyed the sunny weather as we went along.
Mrs. S. and Mr. S always enjoy a trip with the Red Ant and today was no exception.
We found a variety of caches in a range of locations.

Thanks to HansandLinda for this hide, this is the second time Suscoe has visited this spot over the years.
Such a sad story from days gone by.

Attended a Christmas event in Ballarat this morning and I am now taking the scenic route back to Bendigo via Learmonth, Avoca and Maryborough. I remember doing the previous cache at this location, put out by my mate Graham54.

Thanks for resurrecting this cache HansandLinda, a truly interesting and tragic story..

Eager to get back to this memorial site we made a slight detour to Mum's who lives in Maryborough. The roads in were fun making the newly waxed shiny Landcruiser muddy Big Grin before we approached an all familiar sign. The hide was spotted as we payed our respects at the rock cairn and we soon had added our name to the logbook.
Thanks HansandLinda for placing another cache here to remember the life of Ellen Randell.

Joint FTF with Becca85, Neisha07, Boo09 and my 2 muggle children. I’ve been here before and it’s always eerily quite. A sad little spot tucked away in the bush. Bumped into more cachers on the way out. Always nice to meet new faces in the caching game.
Thanks for placing the cache here HansandLinda.

{FTF} at 17.36 with Wonder Woman W.W, neisha07 & boo09 (+ Wonder kids Tilly & Xav).
I was at work when this notification came through but thankfully it was almost knock off time.
I sent the husband a txt to tell him to make sure the kids had sneakers on ready to go then checked in with Wonder Woman to see if she was home. Indeed she was so 15 minutes later I had picked everyone up (love my new 8 seater 4x4!) and was headed Timor way.
I've been out here a couple of times before, finding the previous cache for myself and then with friends.
Arriving at GZ, we made a quick find and were happy to see a blank log book.
As we walked back to car, we noticed we'd been joined by another vehicle that wasn't familiar.
It was great to meet and chat with a new local cacher whose name had been regularly popping up on my own caches the last few months. Welcome to the game SamboXplore (& jojothemojo)!
Welcome back HansandLinda and thanks for giving us a much appreciated, un-planned adventure on a Wednesday afternoon. Smile
