Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Our first visit to ACT in that time.Staying a couple of days at Bega showgrounds. Today we bimbled about picking up some caches around Tathra..TFTC dghoffy
We are from Canada doing a driving tour of SE Australia after attending the Canberra GeoBash. Today we continue north on the beautiful Sapphire Coast making a few stops along the way. We have a cache similar to this at home so it was a quick find. TFT
what an awesome hide! Well done! Had us scratching our heads for quite a while!Cache found in great condition; signed and returned as found! TFTC dghoffy
On our way back to Vic after Visiting Canberra for the Mighty Mega. A wonderful event!Well done. Many thanks dghoffy for providing this game piece for our enjoyment.
Very tricky hide. Gmj3191 was the finder here as we explore this beautiful region on our way to the Canberra mega. Thanks for the fun.
Find # 8,558 for me on 24 Mar 2024 at 4:08pm. This cache was found on our Canberra Mega adventure. After leaving Melbourne with PamJ in our little caravan, the plan is to stay a couple of nights at Bemm River, then a few more at Pambula before cruising into Canberra. This cache was found as part of this journey. Found while PamJ was messaging the kids. Very nicely done. Thanks dghoffy, for giving back to the game. *Found with [Geooh GO](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobiltal.geoohGO)*
Down at the coast with Tankeninge, visiting Youban who wanted some help around the house and cache a little further south than we have been lately. We started early this morning and did some hiking, driving and finding. We also visited some interesting places and saw some awesome sites. Highlights of the day, Mt Dromedary, Tathra Wharf Museum and the Cafe, Chamberlain Lookout and Edin - such a lovely place and we saw the Disney Cruise Liner Wonder depart Edin Harbour. This cache: as we were close by doing th AL, the boys who had already found this one, let me get it too. Nice camo! Tftc!!!
Woohoo #2700, and such a great hide TFTC JENPETEH, The H,s , South Africans living in Tassie GeoCaching our way around Australia and loving it
I found this cache and I have concrete evidence. Nice spot to chill out. TFTC
@1035
I dropped by here on my way back to Canberra, after doing the Wharf to Wharf walk. The GPS was dancing around a bit. I searched extensively but failed to locate the cache.

I tried to look for it but I swear i saw a little snake head under the fallen tree, maybe later…
Haha, the first thing I checked, was the last thing I signed. Like 20 minutes later!
(The plastic bag was meters away, and wet, I have put it closer to cache, maybe next one can put logbook in it when it’s dry).

Day 8 and my last day in Bermagui before heading home. Goal today was to complete the SST series (Minus my DNF's), majority left are south around Tathra and Bega plus grab any others along the way.
This specimen would have certainly come down with a bang! Another clever hide here.
Tftc!

I wandered here and there without any luck, so I rang a Paf, and he set me straight, great camo, thanks.

I parked nearby and observed the mural being painted on the Firehouse.. nice... but back to business plenty of options here .. it looks like the less obvious one .. I could have easily overlooked it but ended up being a quick find.. cache all good.
thanks dghoffy

Great one! So satisfying once we found it. Left a little fire man souvenir for the next cachers.
After parking the car, walked over to GZ. It took a while to locate the cache but eventually found. TFTC dghoffy

Excellent!!! Have a favorite point. I fronted up, moved to approx GZ, and opened my peepers. I spotted what turned out to be the hide, and found a totally unexpected cache in it. Well done.
I want to bring my mountain bike back here! Kids did a good job finding the out-of-place footings.
A clever and well crafted hide which had us circling the object for about 15 minutes. Just about to move on when something else caught our attention and thankfully we were soon signing the log.
Surprised it hasn't accumulated more FPs but here's a well deserved one from us to make up for it somewhat. TFTC dghoffy

I searched high and low but not, obviously, in the right place. This one was just too good for me today.
Thanks dghoffy for the cache, anyway

This cache, and a few others, are new since my last visit to Tathra. It was great to be out caching again. Hopefully this time I will also pick up one that has eluded me on several past attempts!!
Today was a continuation of the SST circuit, as well as putting some other caches on the list to be found with ilook4geo. We had a good caching day and found some interesting and fun hides. Most logs and containers were in good condition and each log was signed before being returned to its proper place. Thank you to dghoffy for placing and maintaining this cache, which we enjoyed finding.
Out today doing some caching with goingplaces2, as well as exploring new places on the Sapphire coast. We had a fun day and are happy to log all the caches we found, including this one. TFTC.
This is our third time looking for this cache! Very glad we didn’t give up. Love the way you think of inventive ways of hiding. Cheers
Third day of my far south coast road trip. A start in Eden today with some numbers in the VB series before slowly working my way north again. Again good quality caches all day, thanks for that.

I'm an Aussie living in Japan. Today I"m back visiting and staying with family in the area, My Granny used to live in Kalaru and I always enjoyed bushwalking around the area. Today I went bushwalking in the area for the first time in about 30 years so it was very enjoyable to do it. This time with the extra joys of geocaching. I went for a 9 hour walk from Kalaru, to wallaga Lake, to Kianinny bay to Tathra and back to Kallaru again. THis was my 15th cache of the day Even though I only cache with paper maps and no phone or GPS, I was still able to find the bugger, however it was not easy as it was a very tricky hide. I got lucky and thought maybe here. TFTC.
#5512 8th for today
I headed down the far south coast of NSW on a very last minute couple of days away. A recent injury (tennis elbow) has rendered me a bit bored, so a getaway was required. My usual geo-partner CC is slumming it up in Paris, so it was just me today. I found some last-minute accommodation at Merimbula and hit the road. I made a few stops on the way to break up the journey, but I have been down this way numerous times, so only a few new caches along the way. All in all, a very pleasant day, the breeze was a bit cool at times, but the variety and creativity of the caches made it well worth while.
It took a bit to find this one, but recognised the style. Nicely done.
Thanks dghoffy

Damn took some time even knowing your types of hides, even dismissed it on first look. Thanks again for your hides
Out and about with nibletricecakes and the Goulburn/Canberra crew. Scouting the coastline for treasures... my first big caching weekend! TFTC (and trail)
Hunted high and low!!! Before retracing our steps and making the find. Tftc
Spending a glorious weekend down the Sapphire Coast as part of the Canberra Invasion. Whilst the invasion meant the chance to catch up with many cachers at events and at different spots (and a delightful excuse to celebrate Lovetherabbitohs 18th birthday), I spent most of the weekend on the hunt with the CGI crew: Fitzy_1965, DarzeeDi, Minniek , K8TYBEE , GLISS!, GSC2000 Lovetherabbitohs, B0tmun, death_killer & my_name_jeff_1. Thanks so much for keeping all the caches alive and making this weekend a possibility! Tftc

Headed to Wallaga Lake for a bit of an invasion by people from Canberra & Goulburn. A group of us convoyed for most of the long weekend. The group known as CGI (Canberra Goulburn Invasion) consisted of fitzy_1965, darzee di, nibletricecakes, k8tybee, GLISS!, GSC2000 and my geokids Lovetherabbitohs, b0tmun, death_killer & my_name_jeff_1.
Day 2 saw us head towards Tathra with all caches along the way in our sights, most of which was the SST series. All caches were quickly found. We certainly loved the variety.
In fading light, this one had us scratching our heads before we thought about the cache name a bit more. Super cool camo!

Sorry for the generic log, some with an added comment - this weekend a few of us from Canberra and Goulburn decided to travel down to Bermagui and do the SST series and some of the other traditionals, camping at Wallaga Lake Big4.
Today was day 2 of our adventure and once again the weather was glorious a little warmer than yesterday, loved the company, lots of laughs and stories making a great day. I just loved the different caches and ability to park safely and enjoy the experience, some a little harder to find than others but found in the end . We signed logs as team CGI (canberra Goulburn invasion) and we all enjoyed ourselves, we all had a great day and all said how much a fantastic series it was. Tftc dghoffy

With Tankengine we made our way down to this part of the coast, there would be many other canberra cachers out and about in the area as well and on this day two we often cached with many of them. This was an area I have been wanting to come visit for such a long time for the trail of caches and were so lucky to have fabulous weather and such good company for the three days.
The caches are very different and interesting with a mixture of hide types, styles and difficulty to keep things interesting. I just loved this area with all the lakes, inlets and waterways, the coast... spectacular. A beautiful place to visit.
Day two and this cache: Having spent the morning caching with many others and after a long wait but eventually a really nice lunch at Tathra jetty, we said our goodbyes and continued on towards Merimbula where TE had some yet to be found caches. Bike race on and kids everywhere over the tree. While they were distracted the cool hide was discovered after noticing a TB on the ground.

18,269. Found during the Canberra (and Goulburn) Invasion of the Sapphire Coast with minniek, GSC2000, DarzeeDi, Nibletricecakes, K8tybee, GLISS!, and the geokids.
After much planning and anticipation, the Canberra and Goulburn Invasion of the Sapphire Coast was underway. I had previously done the SST series back in 2016, so I only had a few DNFs on missing caches from that trip to make right plus any new ones since that trip. This was one of the new ones. Found it in the fading light so probably made it harder than it was.
Thanks dghoffy !! So happy to now know you guys and appreciate you joining our Invasion !

Sorry hoffys, but this is going to be a generic log, as I have trouble keeping up with the youngsters I cache with, let alone making notes for individual caches. It will however save you reading every log!
Weeks ago it was decided to resurrect the idea of Canberra Invasions. I had not previously been involved in these adventures but enthusiastically signed up and this is our second this year. What a fabulous time we had. The main targets were the Event on Saturday night to celebrate an 18th birthday and the SST series. Both were achieved as well as some extras thrown in for good luck.
Thanks to all the COs for the effort they put in to creating the caches we found, but especially to dghoffy . What an incredible set of caches. I especially loved the names allocated to the caches - wow what great imaginations you have, and this spilled over to the creation of the caches. Well done d! It was wonderful not to have a series of mint tins or sistemas and their placement was great too. Evil at times but so much fun! I especially appreciated the fact that there was always good parking on roads that can be busy - glad it was a winter long weekend not one in summer.
All caches were eventually found, sometimes with a little bit of help - thanks to the COs and GrimRaider and were signed or stamped as Capital Crunchers. Brilliant series so thanks again and it was great to have you share the weekend with us.

Took up a little while.

The fire fighters might be on a solid footing here,
or are they ??
The sign outside the fire shed said "Help protect the protectors !!"
The very large tree at GZ was not on a solid footing !! [:o]
That must have made a *THUMP* when it fell over
Close by, the cache was found [^]

I had better luck finding the cache than finding a way into the GZ. Once there the cache prove an easy find. Damp on the outside, all is well on the inside.
This was our second day of tackling more of the Southbound section of this thoroughly enjoyable series (we go slowly as we are constantly bird watching as well as geocaching!). Unlike yesterday the weather today was clear, calm and sunny - perfect in fact for another great day out geocaching. Our thanks once again to the CO for the time and effort put into laying the trail and for the many different cache types and cache hides. We hope to be able to complete the series by doing the Northbound section on a future return visit to Australia. We found this one after a brief rummage around the Ground Zero area. We signed the log book and then replaced as found after having carried out a Trackable exchange, picking up the Anouck De Winnaar - Reloaded Travel Bug and dropping off The Travel Slug Geocoin. Thanks so much for the cache and greetings from Zimbabwe

After spending Christmas and NY at Cuttagee I am on my way home again. I am travelling with a muggle friend (and the RP, of course). She was up for a detour back via Tathra to find a cache. The main street looks just the same, hard to imagine the horror the locals must have experienced when the fires came through.
I spent some time searching the wrong areas, but eventually found something and Yay! a cache.
...and yes we were interrupted by a bicyclist
Thanks for the cache dghoffy

Doing one final search before giving up when I spotted something unexpected. Moments later, the cache was found! TFTC
Arrived here and was totally captivated by an echidna searching for food within a meter of me, not too fussed by my presence. I watch it for a while and then started what I came here for. A well camped hide was located.

Like most cachers we have some personal targets that we pursue when caching. One is our FTF streak. To October 2018 we have been fortunate to find at least one FTF per month for the last 64 months. So we were looking for a FTF in November to continue the streak. It is a hard enough task when at home, put getting a FTF when on the road is more challenging. However, we are always on the lookout.
We were in Bermagui when two notifications came through that there were two caches just published in Tathra. We have learnt over time that hesitation is not an option. So we headed south as quickly as speed limits and traffic conditions would allow. After nearly 50 minutes of driving, we arrived at the area of GZ. There was no one around. Did that means that we had a chance or had someone already come and gone. After a short hunt, a very well constructed hide was discovered. When we opened the cache container and extracted the logbook, it was bare. So we will claim {FTF} at 14:57. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks dghoffy for another cache in the SST series.
