It was a quiet day at the airport, so no planes were spotted. I did spot the cx, so I am happy. TFTC.
Another nice wee path we didn't know existed. And a quick find with a nice new log TFTC
Tregearp and I were on our way into town to meet up with friends but had time to stop off for a couple of caches. Had a good chat with a local muggle who was enjoying the view before had the opportunity to make a quick find. Completed formalities and replaced as found - thaks Sidewaze for the cache.
Headed into town with SJT_NZ to meet some friends so as we had a couple of errands to do but ended up with a bit of time on our hands we thought we'd tackle a few caches. Beautiful evening but as we approached the GZ there was a muggle also enjoying the view and looking very comfortable. After a few minutes, struck up a conversation and took the opportunity to promote the activity of geocaching. Thanks Sidewaze, all safe and sound.
Term 3 break. Planning for next term is done and it's time for a Spring getaway before the fourth term begins. So it's off to Nelson we go to visit our son.
Having found the slippery sucker at the top of the hill we were encouraged to walk down the walkways to this cache. Seemed appropriate for us as our son is a flight instructor at Nelson Aviation College and had flown overhead earlier in the morning.
Easy find.

I spotted a plane but no cache. Lot's of possible hiding spots, so could still be there. Looked at some spots (wooden post, flax, trees and bushes..) for quite some time.
Climbed up here but no planes today. Getting rather rare at the moment. Got this one snagged and tagged . Cheers
Its another weekend exploring Nelson and Tasman with The Seagnoid, Toby and Zara. Early start out of Blenheim getting to Nelson by 8am. Had a great weekend picking up a couple of Labs, even a new one on our way home in Havelock.

Climbed up to here from below.Nice easy find, fantastic views, i can see why this would be popular for the plane spotter types.
Given that I am leaving Blenheim soon, I am putting in a concerted effort to cache out the South Island. 40 caches this weekend, only a few thousand more to go. A couple more weeks should do it! As usual I have Zara, Toby and Taybeedragon along for the ride. We were supposed to be going to Murchison, but there is some horrible weather that way, so we came here. Much better!!

Decided to walk down the hill for this one. Easy find at GZ. Admired the views for a while whilst motivating myself for the ascent back to the car. Thanks Sidewaze!!
There were lots of very hard to access hiding spots for this geocache. Bit of a shame I couldn't come up trumps in the miserable drizzle.
After this mornings 2 no finds, I am rewarded with an easy one here. That makes 1 off the next hundred. Thanks.
I disabled my caches during Level 4 lockdown to encourage everyone to do the right thing. Now we’re moving to Level 3 I’m going to leave the decision to search for a cache or not to each individual. Remember you still need to stay in your bubble and a bit of hand sanitiser before and after handling a cache would be appropriate. Keep yourself and others safe.

Thank you, we were out for a walk on our last night in Nelson and came to this lovely spot in the sky. What a view! Unfortunately we had no phones, and no pen, so couldn’t sign the log, for which we apologise!
Had a wee job to do near here, so thought, what the heck, go for a wander up the hill in the heat of the day and admire the planes and the beautiful view. TFTC
A beautiful day to go plane spotting a lovely view from here .Thank you Sidewaze for this cache Merry Christmas to you and your family and a hope to catch up in the new year for an Event somewhere
I think I've logged this before, but finally got around to passing by while I was carrying a pen, so signed the log tonight. TFTC
Lovely spot. No planes for me.
I walked from Stoke so I came up from the bottom. The seat was a nice reward.

After a short walk after arriving near the area and passing a muggle the black box was found and signed

We walked up to this one, I think down would have been the easier option though especially as the seat was too wet to sit on when we got there so had to use it to lean on instead. A bit of concern on the way up with council workers doing track maintenance close by but they disappeared down hill again when it mattered so we could make the find uninterrupted.
Thank you Sidewaze for the cache.
Thank you Sidewaze for the cache.
The start of this walkway is so obvious we almost missed it Just before the last bend we met two council workers on their way down and wondered if the muggle factor was going to prevent us making the find. We shouldn't have worried. The seat was to wet to use while catching our breath and there were no planes to spot either. It was all downhill from here and we didn't mind one bit Thank you Sidewaze
Heading along this area getting the recent cache placements and added this to the list. I think I've been here for a previous cache placement nearby too. Not great views today, fairly plain really, so sat and did the business before replacing and heading back up to the car. T F T C Sidewaze.
I came over to Nelson with mrs capperz yesterday and we had an unwritten list of things to shop for and get, and it was after 2PM by the time I was asked if there were any caches I wanted to get. With one eye on the Museum caper, and slim pickings over my side of the hill, I thought it was overdue time to do a numbers run, and attend the Sunday streak-stopping event too (a chance to say a quick hi to the gang - then head onto the geo-trail). With a sort of list for pre-event and an eye on Cache-rich Motueka area I set off from home at 0630. Called into work to retrieve my TB haul to drop and share, and was over the hill by 0815. Onto the caches pretty quick and by days-end had a healthy haul of 31 towards the challenge. A few DNFs at the end as my searching deteriorated but a good day including a great loop-walk around the salt-flats and surrounds of Mot Marina.

Nice day for a bit of exploring, don't think I have been up here before, a great outlook
Well, a quick find on the cache here. For the record, I descended this track from above to get it. Was a bit disappointed there was no aircraft activity in the 5 or ten minutes I was here. It certainly is a good spot. TFTC Sidewaze.
This weekend was a planned trip to Nelson that we organised a couple of months back.
My niece was competing in the S.I secondary schools athletics meet at Saxton, (quite successfully as it turned out), and as my brother had organised a house in Tahunanui for 4 days I had a base for a good weekend.
So I took the Friday off work, getting into Nelson while it was still dark in the morning to start a big day targeting highly favoured caches and anything else that took my fancy. Once reaching most of my goals and catching up with the tribe later that afternoon the weekend took a different slant, and it was all about the athletics, catching up and chilling out for most of the next two days.
Jo popped over on Sunday, and after the relays finished we just had time to make the Mapua event in the afternoon, then I grabbed a few more caches on the way home. A great weekend in so many ways, with Nelson turning on some great weather.
Thanks to all the COs, found some good ones

Out for a short after work ride to see what living in Oz is like during winter. A quick stop here in the way down but it was too warm to hang around waiting for planes today. Awesome track and view.
Thanks Sidewaze for the cache.

I was up extra early this morning to come and get this cache and tick off a few other things on the list. The only planes to be seen were the Virgin ones still parked up. Nevermind there will be plenty of opportunities throughout the rest of the day for plane spotting. The walkway was lovely with so many flowers in bloom so it was a pleasant walk to GZ. TFTC # 13,352
An early morning find before flying out of Nelson. Next find will be Changi Airport! TFTC SidewazeSidewaze
Plane spotting? Don’t talk to me about plan spotting. Talk to StreetGamer about that as he’s my go-to guy for all things aviation. Everything from makes, models, routes and probably pilots’ middle names! If he’s not up in them he’s studying them.
Me? More a feet-on-the-ground pastime. But each to their own.
But saying that, both planes and geocaching can take you to places you’d might not otherwise go, so perhaps there’s more in common than at first sight.
I see the GZ has been upgraded since my last visit a few years back.

I had a mission to complete in town this morning and then decided to have a pre Christmas clean up while I was at it.
I really enjoyed this cache. One FP because it has to do with planes. Half an FP for the second enjoyable walk up a hill that this CO has taken me on today. Another FP for a lovely seat to sit on with a stunning view in a peaceful environment to allow me to contemplate the world going by.
An interesting angle from here looking straight down grass vector 06/24. I don't recall ever seeing it used. I guess it was originally used by tail draggers in strong south westerley winds. These days the 24 approach and consequently the 06 overshoot area are awful. I'm surprised that the CAA still approve it.
No aircraft movement during the 15 minutes I sat here. Two Dash-8 tails visible. The BK was parked on its trailer outside the hangar and a pressurised light twin was parked up. Too far away to identify.

I've done no exercise since my north island trip and i noticed it coming up here, it doesnt take long to loose fitness. Nice to have somewhere to sit and rest. Saw a couple of planes landing while signing the log, thanks Sidewaze

Enjoyed the walk up the hill
We spotted a plane taking off as we arrived at GZ , great views
Found with Ulmuslynx. We also had a great day walking round the airport.
Thank you Sidewaze for the cache and bringing us up here

Feeling a bit weary after doing caches round the airport with No.13 and up to this cache so pleased to see the seat. To complete things a plane was just taking off as we sat down. TFTC
Approached from below and spotted a plane taking off before I got to GZ. Cache found in the first place I checked. Nice spot to take in the view. TFTC, Biggles.
A nice peaceful spot to sit down. Didn't see any planes but did see someone dressed as a fairy hoping into her car
Life has been sadly too busy for caching but today was quiet for Mrs SoBad and this was one of the caches that filled part of it. Went out to check to caches and find this one in the middle. No planes were spotted - and no people on the track either. However, what looked like snow from a distance was - no surprises that it wasn't actually snow as I don't think that it has even been spotted in Nelson in November.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Had to go to town again today, so made a bit of extra time to come and find this cache. I did not know that this area existed and as it turned out I took the long way to get to GZ. But it was a very pleasant walk with views out over the bay.
As I neared GZ and surveyed the area I took a seat to see what I could spot. Right on time a plane took off. While there I spotted the thing I came to spot. A quick sign and returned it as I found it.
I sat and enjoyed the views for a wee while before heading back to the car.
This will go towards the fast to find list that I am compiling for the DGSc Challenge that we are working on.
Thank you for placing this cache, for showing me an area that I did not know was there and of course thank you for the smilie

A few new caches popped up while we were away and this one was the most recent. Headed out today to grab it as it fits the requirements of a challenge we are doing. No planes spotted just a couple of council workers spraying weeds. Cache an easy find. tftc
Great spot for a cache and a good excuse to sit down and admire the view while filling in the log. Nice one, thanks.
One of the benefits of having to drop a daughter off at the swimming pool at 5am is that I can get an early start. Checked the email and off I went. Great to get another FTF. Second one for the year. Not many planes at 0520. But would be a great spot to get your fix if that was your thing. Still dark but birds starting to chirp. Thanks for the cache.
Pretty familiar with this area from below.
Couple with dog seated, signed log after they departed. All quiet out there.
Thanks for the cache Sidewaze
