I do enjoy working thru these puzzles as I probably wouldn't make the time to see the Archibald entries otherwise. This puzzle didn't take as much trouble as others.Third visit to this GZ, and with it being about 11 am, the locals who seem to hang out at this GZ were not in attendance. As such, with good coordinates, it turned into a quick find of thus nice geocache. Thanks for the cache, GMJ 3191.Hunter
Out and about today for a rather impromptu geocaching trip with Brain. Not even realising that he was actually in town, I sent out a message to him saying... .wait a minute when did you get here. So with a little bit of on the fly planning we managed to organise a couple of hours to go out and grab a couple of caches before returning him home for a family dinner. After getting the nearby virtual, I thought I would spend the time to finally pick up this one that I had solved many many moons ago now as well. After being put off by the amount of fisherman here on past excursions into the region. Thanks for the cache and the little adventure.
*Found on the 28 Jul 2024 @ 2:38PM.**Cache find # 15682.* I was a good opportunity to get this one while I was out here for another reason.Solved a while ago but hadnt been out here yet .Arrived at GZ and with very good coordinates I had soon located the cache and signed the log.Nicely camouflaged.**Thanks to gmj3191 for keeping the game going by placing this cache.**
Out today locally to collect some Archibald caches to complete the set. Until a couple of days ago, I had only completed 7 of the 14 of these yearly caches. With the success of 2024, I was determined to give the other 7 a proper go and thus, with a couple of mistakes fixed by the CO, I managed to solve them. This was the first one on my list, and with the aid of the instructions and the photo, I knew exactly where to look. I wish that all caches were this easy to find. Thanks to gmj3191 for the cache.
*4 May 2024, Found @9:31AM, Find # 3805.*I hadn't looked at puzzle in a while and with some free time one evening this one was solved. It was nice to get the bike out this morning and find this one and a few others.**Thanks to gmj3191 for placing this cache.**
Grabbing a few solved puzzles today, this was v one of themThanks gmj3191 for Archibald 2018#6153
This Archie puzzle took me a lot longer than some of the others; in the end, I brute forced one of the questions that I couldn't get for the life of me. Once we reached GZ, the hint meant the cache was spotted quickly. Thankfully, there weren't too many fishers around, and the log was signed quickly. TFTC!
For me, this puzzle has been the hardest of the series to solve to date. I had so much trouble with two of the questions, but persistence paid off and I eventually received the green tick.On approach to GZ, we noticed a family fishing close by to where we needed to search and reluctantly had to walk away.Well be back!
This was such a fun cache to find. I solved the puzzle ages ago, and I know that some of them I struggled with and others were easy - not sure which category this one slides into. Today was windy and rainy, but that helped to keep GZ nice and empty, which made the retrieval somewhat less suss than normal. Thank you for the fun hide!
This cache has been on my 'next time I am in the vicinity' pile for a while. When Geochecker gave me the detailed info on GZ I thought recovering the container would be impossible without alerting every bayside muggle. I needn't have worried because the process proceeded smoothly. Tftc.
How tough would this be without a visual hint? Made a dash and avoided a splash. Pretty as a pic and a beaut setting for “plain air” painting on a good day. Probably a few wizened faces for good portrait characters. Another visit to breathe more OZONE at almost sea level from far distant higher altitudes although it’s some time since I’ve been to the beach. Happy to be in the burbs of Marvellous Melbs on a monster multi mission that includes a few LGAs and signing off on some of these puzzles TFTC and the fun!
Definitely a joint effort here - I solved the cache and tra4ce got it unwedged from the rocks it was jammed into. Tftc, and the lockdown puzzle!
ozlsn did the solve during lockdown. I did the scramble, it was well and truly wedged in its home. Hinge is rather rusty. TFTC
I discovered the Archibald puzzles in lockdown last year. This is the first one I have picked up though! Great hide! TFTC

Out and about with Rebel Acts putting some smiles on the map. Early start to the day but definitely worth it to tick off a few more caches.
Cheers for the cache

Out on another of our Sunday caching adventures, we had an early start chasing a few Side Tracked caches all over the place before heading to the Year of the hide 2022 event, after that we concentrated on some Bayside caches.
This is one of the caches found today.
Thanks gmj3191 for the cache.

Thanks gmj3191 for the cache.
I solved this back in April with lots of trial and error due to a wrong answer I had. Thank goodness for spreadsheet formulas! I eventually got the go ahead from the checker!
The instructions were spot on for this, and the cache quickly spied. Thanks gmj3191 for the Archibald series. I'm looking forward to 2022

I always try to get to the Archibald when it does its tour around regional Victoria and I enjoy doing these Archibald puzzle caches. Had a gap in my calendar on this post-election Sunday which I needed to fill, so I headed down here late morning. Parked up the top, wandered down and found the cache exactly as advertised. Very few muggles around to wonder what I was doing. TFTC!
Another Archibald solved in lockdown, then GZ was moved and I couldn’t get a tick in the new checker even though I had the same answers. All good now though.
Of all the Archibald’s I’ve found so far this one had the best GZ. It could have been an issue with muggles, however none of the muggles seemed to even notice me as I sat at GZ taking photos of the scenery.
Thanks for all these great puzzles and caches. I have them all solved and am slowly making my way through finding them. Very much looking forward to the 2022 instalment that will be coming out soon.

I’m really enjoying the Archibald puzzles and have solved them all now .. I love visiting the Archibald travelling exhibitions each year… just need to collect all the caches. Even though I enjoy the Archibald puzzles, this one was a beast. Finally I had the coordinates in hand and it was time to get the cache… it was a perfect day for a walk along the breakwater .. yachts to the left and fisherwomen to the right .. Wow when I realised where the cache was.. and wow when I had it in hand .. thanks gmj3191 well deserved favourite point given
Another Wednesday in this area and 6 hours to fill in between the taxi service to and from school/kindergarten for our grandkids. Stop 3 for the day and about 10am. This puzzle took us some time to solve as we had problems with one of the questions - but eventually with a nudge we had a green tick. As we approached GZ we noticed a number of fishermen about where GZ would be. But as they appeared to be packing up we hung back. Fortunately they were soon on there way. I scrambled to GZ and quickly spotted the likely hiding spot. There were a few problems retrieving the container but eventually we had it in hand. Thanks to gmj3191 for the challenging puzzle and cache.
With surefoot24 very kindly offering to drive me around for the day, I was very excited to be a part of the pi day festivities in Black Rock this morning and pick up a few other caches of interest in the surrounding suburbs throughout the day.
This series was solved in full about this time this year - but it feels a lot longer than that!
I worked through it alongside buhfuhguh and found that many required close attention to detail that resulted in a few being picked up on numerous occasions over the week or so it took us to topple them all.
Reaching gz was a largely relaxed affair as we took a few rest breaks along the way and admired the yachts out on the sea.
Once we were closer to the cache, I scrambled down and quickly identified the hide thanks to the photo in the checker.
It's a good thing I had surefoot with me as she'd noticed the change in coordinates and accompanying photo, whereas I was still in possession of the old ones!
My hands got a bit dusty but the logbook had our names in it soon enough.
Thanks to gmj3191 for placing this cache!

I discovered this great series of caches a few years ago and solved, often with the generous help of the CO when I got frustrated with getting one element wrong. It turned out to be a longer walk to GZ than I expected, aggravated by extremely painful calf muscles which hampered my ability to walk far. Luckily I had the company of Brain who clambered down to GZ and found the cache quickly. A yacht race was preparing to start out in the bay and we heard several sirens emanating from that location. I wonder how much money is tied up in all the yachts inside the breakwater.
We figured today was a good day to find a cache, so we headed out to this one. Found today without incident, good hide, thanks for re-doing it gmj.
New hide constructed.
Moved slightly to a better position.
Listing, formulae and hints updated.
All set to go.

Checked during tea in the Sydney Ashes Test. There's been some issues at GZ and the cache has gone, so I have some work to do here.

Solved the puzzle this morning - it took me ages, in particular I had trouble with one of the questions. So, I was very happy when I eventually managed to work it out and get the final coordinates. Sadly, when we searched for the cache it was nowhere to be found. We spent quite a bit of time searching and followed the hint but to no avail. Would appreciate your confirmation gmj, cheers.
Rode my bike down today to check this one.
As the crack had enlarged along the grain of the wood and the lid had split apart, I took it home and replaced the lid and patched up the outer container. Should be good for a while longer now. A bit cool and breezy here today, but the sun is out now.

Our first caching trip this side of the bay for quite sometime saw us gathering solved puzzles, working through a few multis and best of all enjoying some Adventure labs. The winter sunny blue skies had many other people enjoying the area but we were undisturbed at GZ as we gathered the cache container and signed the logbook.
Thanks gmj3191 for the Archibald series.
Thanks gmj3191 for the Archibald series.
Finally got to knock this off the list today. Great container though a crack is forming through the box and lid. But as there's an internal metal container no danger of soggy log book.

**The Solve:** Having started geocaching in Jan 2019, I remember this puzzle being one of the first I had solved, as it is relatively close to home. I solved many of the Archibald puzzles in quick succession, so the details of each solve are a bit blurry. I do remember going slightly cross-eyed trying to find all of the information required in the 51 finalists for each year.
**The Adventure:** Having visited GZ twice previously with no luck, I made my way here with fingers crossed. Well, third time, as they say, was a charm. However, I failed to read the updated hint and went scrambling in. With a sinking feeling I looked at the hint only to realise I had made it more difficult for myself. Starting again from the path I made an easy find.
**The Cache** Thanks gmj3191 for each year’s iteration of the Archibalds. A lot of work goes into the creation of these puzzles and I am truly appreciative. Cache on.
**Cache Condition:** The outer housing has an almighty crack in it, probably due to its hiding location under you-know-what. The internal housing is waterproof and in excellent condition however.
**Took:** nothing **Left:** nothing; no room to drop TB unfortunately
**TBs:** visited Bucc-ee Beaver

With this cache I definitely agree with gmj3191 that the artist did not do herself justice. She has done many other self portraits which, in my opinion do; it's interesting to see just how different her reflection becomes between paintings.
Now to the cache, pleasant walk 'into the sea' without getting wet. Easy find with no-one around. It was fairly visible when I came so I added another rock.
Thanks for the cache gmj3191

This puzzle took a lot of late night work after trying to keep a GeoSon entertained during lockdown.
I did encounter a problem with a particular question, so I reached out to the CO who set me in the right direction and the coordinates were quickly summed up.
A little bit of exercise meant that once home schooling was done for the day meant we could get out on this glorious day.
The cache was quickly found once I read the hint. The container and log are in excellent condition.
We visited 4 TB.
TFTC.

We found this cache today on our Archibald's and More Bayside Afternoon. Something very unusual happened today on the retrieval of this cache. A couple was standing at GZ taking photos of each other. As I got to about 30m away, they actually walked away. Strange but true. Usually the opposite happens. Thanks from D & H B-A.
Yay happy to turn this DNF into a smiley!! Thanks for the puzzle and the cache!!! Awesome hide
Second time here looking & second time came up with nothing. I even brought along the cache whisperer to no avail . Oh well will have to wait & see. Thanks gmj3191 all the same. Sigh.
I bloody LOVE these Archibald puzzle caches and enjoy every minute of trying to examine the portraits closely to reveal the answers. This one was solved some time back, and as we felt safe to get out caching again after the Covid hiatus, this one was first on our list. Once we got to GZ however, it wasn't as easy as I'd hoped, and a bit of scrambling and searching entailed. Finally the prize was ours. Not the Archibald Prize, but a prize just as worthy in our minds. TFTC and looking forward to the 2020 edition.
TFTC! Yet to see an Archibald prize exhibition in person as previously not an art gallery person. Doing these caches, researching to find the clues, leading to reading about each of the artists, their subjects and studying the pictures themselves. I’ve found myself enjoying it a lot! This is a fantastic GZ! A bit of wind but soothing on such a warm day! Came just in time as people were leaving the GZ!
As we can now wander up to 25km, and can have up to 2 hours of recreational activity, I'll re-enable my caches.
Melbourne is currently in a Stay At Home situation.
If you found this cache within walking distance of your home, go ahead and log it.
This is within the bounds of legitimate exercise.
If you found this cache by driving to it, you're interpreting the rules to your own benefit, and not the community's. You should not be travelling to exercise, and interpreting caching as exercise is a long stretch anyway (pun intended).

Disabled for the duration of the Covid-19 crisis.
Although exercise is ok, beaches, parks etc are gradually being closed, and we are being asked to stay home.
The possibility to transmit the virus by surface contact exists, so why take chances?
At the end of the day, geocaching is a game, and we are dealing with a serious Public Health issue.
We need to get our priorities in order.
I believe the responsible thing is to disable all my caches, until the crisis passes.
Thanks.

Being without a geo vehicle, both beckNmonts and I were relying on a terrible hire car to forfill our caching needs. I guess a Kia Cerato is better than no car at all!! So off we went on another school night adventure, starting with a couple of multi's and working our way through some previously solved puzzles.
2 people with bad knees and me also with sore feet and not wanting to fall due to Oxfam Trailwalker in the not too distant future, I very carefully made my way around, searching every nook and cranny. Was on the virge of giving up when Bec pointed and said have you tried there? So one more check and there it was. We didnt get too wet and claimed the smiley.
Many thanks to gmj3191 for the cache. TNLN.

Let’s be honest here and say that I did the solving but ahomburg did the leg work. I stood at the white rock and gave a lot of detailed pointing to where I thought should be searched. Turns out my pointing was correct and we soon had a cache to sign. GZ isn’t an area I can walk on right now Thanks for placing the cache gmj3191 and for the puzzle.
I solved this by myself some time ago - I don't remember it very well but I wrote "bloody hard" in my notes, so I guess my green light in the checker was well earned.
And I'm very happy to now have the smiley! I came in November, as I had a little time before an appointment nearby. But when I was about five minutes away, the heavens opened up including a bit of hail. I arrived and waited in the car, then when the rain stopped I put on my raincoat and off I went. It was insanely windy and then it started raining again, but I was determined to find the cache. However once at GZ I decided it wasn't safe so I left with my tail between my (wet) legs. After the appointment, I came back to GZ again! No rain this time, but the wind was worse than before and being very slippery here, I called time out.
Today the weather was behaving and with the detailed hint I was able to find the cache in no time.
Thanks for the adventure gmj3191!

Along with crank1 for a walk but very windy. Lots of parachute surfers riding on the sea while we searched around. Crank1 was my side to watch the muggles passed by. Found it and manage to log it. Good one! Thanks gmj3191 for placing this cache.
Been doing with it but asked for helper with few. Been searched for the cache and Glad we got it. fav from me

Found with Potatogoat on New Year’s Eve. A good day. It took me about 3 hours to solve and I couldn’t work out one of the parameters so I had to guess a few. Lucky I got all the others correct. Down from Queensland so I like to pick up a few while I’m down here. I’m going to solve the rest when I get home and get them next time I visit (April).
A worthy cache.

Although the Wind was heavy, and the sea spray covered both our bodies and our bikes, the view out there was incredible. So was the hiding spot, and we would not have found the cache without the aid of the hint. Had to watch out for a fishing muggle. TFTC
I enjoy the time the Archibald portraits arrive . I enjoy each years’ list of finals now I am learning to suffer them in finer details ! . So now that I have started this series might have to look for the others. Awaiting the 2019 version gmj3191! . Time consuming data collecting revealed most of the numbers required. One clue was difficult so I resorted with a little trial and error with coordinates I had and , after a few attempts got the green light. At Gz. Geodog loved the walk. No muggles this afternoon being a weekday so had time to hunt and hint was very helpful. Thirsty work! Thanks for the challenge.
MMelb (son) was out spectating all day at an E-Sports Grand Final (who plans a final on Fathers Day??) so G&J went caching by themselves and this was 2nd on the list. The weather had been beautiful which meant there were still quite a few muggles around, however as we started walking out "there" we saw some lightening in the distance and the wind picked up so all the Muggles disappeared ... Next minute it was HAILING!! We had left our coats in the car! I was determined we would get this one seeing we were here though so poor GMelb had to do the clambering. The hails disappeared pretty quickly, the rain pretty much stopped but it was still windy! And ciold...yes I was cold!! Anyway after a furter look in a place originally discounted, GMelb was able to extract the cache
TFTC gmj3191 and the adventure!! Puzzle was solved some time ago so GMelb doesnt remember much about it lol GJMMelb

Oh you sneaky CO, G! This cache was certainly an exercise in perseverance both in solving for and finding the cache. A good couple of hours were sunk in minutely examining the various paintings in order to extract the needed clues. Then some more patience was required when visiting GZ the first time since there was a steady stream of muggles that prevented a good sustained search.
Returning today I finally had the place more or less to myself given large numbers of the surrounding populace had left for warmer climes during the school holidays. Even so it took me a good few minutes to find the spot that matched the hint and discover the cache. I think this cache deserves a FP for the fun had in extracting the final coords, the picturesque nature of GZ (photos attached) and the choice of container given the nearby muggle trash and presumably the likelihood of the traditional form of regular sized cache container being 'retained' if discovered. Instead, this container blends very well and will probably last for quite some time although it isn't as durable as the 'traditional' setup.

Today we found Archibald 2018 on our travels. I have had this one figured out for ages, life just seemed to get on the way. Today was the day to take the dog for a pleasant walk to GZ. The Chief sorted out the signing duties while Jett stood on top of a rock to watch and whine and worry. He’s not good at the waiting but loves the walking!
Thanks gmj3191 for being part of our geocaching fun. Love the Archies and your associated caches!

A quiet Sunday afternoon with no real plans so I decided on a drive to collect a few caches as I chase my 1000th regular and my 5000th cache. This puzzle took some time back and forwards chipping away. A few numbers were easy but a couple were very stubborn. My first visit to GZ was a DNF as it was muggled. My second visit I encounted a group of muggles that had setup camp 1m from GZ. This morning was easy and I could search in peace. Found after a few minutes. Thanks to gmj3191 for the placement and fun.

Today the weather was cold, windy and rainy so I decided to drive around and find a few that weren't too far from the car because there was no way my rubbish umbrella was going to handle these gale force winds.
Nice cold walk to GZ and after a quick look around the cache was soon spotted then I headed back to the car and jumped in just as it started to rain again. Perfect timing!
Thanks gmj3191 for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

As I know how these ones work, I was determined to work it out. Mr papi had to lend a hand as I was going cross eyed looking for that which was needed. Thanks.
After doing the necessary work, which took Geoturtle and I some time, it was great to be able to finish this cache. I think each year these caches are becoming more devious in the solving. Thanks for another great cache.

One of the many things on my 2018 geobucket list was to finish solving and finding all the Archibald puzzles. Earlier this year, I managed to tick that off the list.
Now I just need to keep on top of them, and solve them as they come out. I found this one a little harder than the past ones due to the extra research required, but with the same satisfaction a private investigator must feel, I got there in the end.
With a gap in the rain, we headed out to search for the elusive prize. We spent way too long searching on the wrong side, before I said... "I wonder if it's on the other side", and guess what...

I worked out the coordinates a couple of weeks ago and decided to grab the cache today, seeing I was in the area for a short while. Nice to have this one ticked off.
Find #4849
I commute for work between Elsternwick and Frankston and over time have managed to find most of the caches in that area (and particularly so on the bay side). So it’s always a pleasure when a new cache pops up in the area. This one took a bit of work to solve and I even had to call in Tarbit who has a better eye than me for spotting find detail in the artwork. With the green light form the geochecker I decided to make a small diversion on the way home from work to pick this one up. Found a nice free parking spot and strolled towards a familiar area. Managed to time it so the coast (excuse the pun) was clear and after a short search I had the cache in hand. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for the puzzle and the cache gmj3191. This one earns a favourite point for me for adding to my limited knowledge of the art world.

Well I was sitting at my computer this afternoon when the notification came through that this year's iteration of the Archibald had been published. I set about perusing through the finalists, coming up with the answers as I went along. It wasn't too long before I had a set of coordinates and the checksum matched accordingly. With the cache solved I unfortunately wasn't able to rush out and find it as I had other commitments. I added it to my watch list expecting to see it found in the interim. I arrived home this evening and with no found logged yet, we decided to set off and try our luck. The latest rain shower had passed through and there was a slight drizzle as we headed off to GZ. This worked to our advantage with the area now clearing and a chance to hunt for the elusive prize. I was wandering further afield while Spike was concentrating on a much more likely location, and as it turned out the correct location!
Opening the sturdy container, then the logbook, it was with great delight that we found it completely blank, with the highlighted spot ready for the first to find. I like the container, it is a good sturdy hide for the location.
Thanks to gmj3191 for the puzzle and for the excitement of an FTF hunt, something a little out of the ordinary for us.
