16:17, 3 May 2021. #449.

Found with RGSBruce on Day 10 of our trip to Tassie (his fifth, my fourth).

I'm a bit behind on writing up my logs, languishing in yet another COVID lockdown in a cold and dismal Melbourne Sad, so what he wrote. Smile

16:17, 3 May 2021. #1744.

Day 10 and the last day of HerIndoorsOutdoors and my trip to Tassie. Sad

A leisurely drive from Swansea to Hobart, via wherever took our fancy today, with stops to pick up caches along the way as we had plenty of time to get to the airport for out 20:50 flight to Melbourne (which ended up departing after it should have arrived in Melbourne thanks to some foul weather, which was depositing some of its excess water on the East Coast of Tassie as we headed South).

When we started our trip 10 days ago we had thought we might head down to South Arm on this last day, if we had time. As it turned out, not only time to come down to South Arm, but time to hunt for a cache or two. We left the geo-chariot in the recommended spot and walked down for a very quick find.

This turned out to be cache #13 of 15 today. Our biggest caching day in quite some time Smile.

The cache is in good condition.

Caching is guiding our travels as we enjoy a range of hides highlighting interesting places on our Tasmania holiday. Our travels have brought us to this peninsula for a brief stay. Today we dodged rain showers. Hopefully tomorrow we’ll have a clearer day.
Thank you for your cache and helping us work towards some of our caching goals.

On a motorhome tour of Tassie and finding caches along the way. Today we came to stay at the RSL club in South Arm and drove along to Opossum Beach to find the South Arm Convict Trail series. Nicely designed hides and very interesting history of the area and the unfortunate convicts. This one was also conveniently located so we stopped to grab it as well. TFTC

After completing the South Arm Convict Trail we parked at the suggested waypoint and walked along the rocks to GZ, seemed a better idea with Miss A then the road. At around GZ we had both spotted the cache but unbelievably I had spotted one and they had spotted another so two caches. NatalieC1234 found an eclipse tin and I had found a white bison tube with a log inside. When whitewebbs did a bit of owner maintenance back in January it appears that the original cache was still in place but may have suffered cache creep over time. Anyway with two to find we were pretty happy. So the challenge here is to find two lol. Thanks whitewebbs for the caches.

Today we headed to South Arm with Porkchop6977, for a bit of a pre-birthday caching expedition. We'd had a successful trip down there previously, but still had plenty more to find! In total we ended up finding eight traditional caches and one multi-cache, with one DNF.

We took a wander along the beach to this one, exploring some rock-pools along the way and generally taking in the views along the way. Eventually we made it to the GZ and a search ensued, with Porkchop looking in one place while we searched in another. A few minutes later Porkchop announced he'd found the cache, right at the same time as we found a cache. It turns out we'd actually tracked down **two** caches, both of which claimed to be "View of the Jetty"!

As we were unsure which was the actual cache, we've signed both and replaced each as found.

Thanks for an interesting find, in a lovely spot (we loved the beach and jetty)!

Three days back we had an introduction to caching on Tasmania's South Arm. We couldn't resist returning today, drawn by the incredible scenery of the area and of course the interesting caches.
A great spot for lunch today.

On a Lap of Tassie, and today's day trip was out to South Arm - walked along Goats beach (found a dead seal), paused by the jetty for a quick look before stopping off at the local markets. Luckily for me there was a quick and simple cache here to mark the whistlestop tour of this peninsula on my geo-map. Thanks whitewebbs.

On a nice calm evening walk... easy to find

Wandered down to this cache last. I knew I couldnt park near by, but that hadnt stopped some fisher people parking under the no parking sign and fishing on the end of the jetty.
Cache was in good condition.

The first traffic jam of geocaches in South Arm ever, out and about with Lil Rafa to get FTFs but were to late. locals were doing the same thing but went when they found it was to late as well. nice hide and great views TFTC TNLN little bit cool but getting warm was how many step up and down to the beach you took. nice geocaching with friends that came and went through the afternoon.

I heard my phone beep, then it went again and it got all excited. I saw the notifications and got excited myself. I messaged stainless steel rat indicating I was on my way to pick him up. I don't think I asked him.... I TOLD him!
I was in my trackys and slippers so did a quick change, and was still dressing myself as I climbed in the car. I got to the rat nest quickly and he was ready and waiting so I didn't even get out. Off we went, him looking left and me right at intersections to aid our pace. We arrived at the jetty and the carpark was empty so we were pleased but we knew there was two ends to the trail so anything could happen. We got to GZ in the bitter wind and soon had the cache found and blank log sheet out so a quick {*FTF*} with Stainless steel rat at 7.25pm.
Thanks whitewebbs

Having had a late dinner I was just getting settled on the sofa to watch a couple of shows with Mrs SSRat and I get a message just after my phone went ping a few times so I had an idea some new caches had been published.
Goose was offering to pick me up so it was a no brainer to rush out for the change of a FTF.
After parking up it was a short walk to GZ and the cache was soon in hand and with a blank log too! So a {*FTF*} for me and the Goose.

Thanks for the cache.

Thanks for the cache whitewebbs. RLD4963, the GeoGSP and I were just heading home after visiting the dog park when I checked my phone and noticed a nice little series of caches just published down at South Arm. We contemplated whether or not we had a chance at getting FTF for any of these, and with at least one potential group discounted (the CO's!) we decided to keep driving and headed to South Arm. We headed to this cache first to determine whether FTF's were a possibility. Just as we approached GZ a car pulled up directly opposite and a group of 4-5 people piled out of the car, phones in hand. So it was then two groups of people looking for the right spot. As it happened, I put my hand on it first and it was handed over to RLD4963 to reveal whether or not the log was blank - but no, we had been beaten by about ten minutes. We found out later that evening that we had parked right next to the car belonging to one of the FTF'ers - must remember to look out for travelbug stickers on cars in the future. After we signed the log, we had a quick chat to the other group, ensured they knew the hiding place for the cache and headed off. Thanks again, it was fun to get out for the evening - the GeoGSP thoroughly enjoyed his bonus walk.
