nice dt, hard to leave. in young to pick up a horse. once settled at accomodation, we walked over and got this. fair bit of team work involved, with me being groundsman, with a helping heave to start things off. we did see it from the ground, which helps a lot. TFTC.

Quite the climb!

Driving our way today from Bathurst to Temora today, we stopped in Young for a leg stretch and a tree climb. We were targeting this one, although we wondered if the tree might be too wet today, however given the thick foliage it was totally dry on the inside area of the tree. Mrs. Domsky spotted this one from the ground and then went straight up. A lovely tree climb, with plenty of branches to cling to. Log signed, then back down to earth again. Thanks O319Domsky

We are traveling with Geoturtle 37, Papi4506 & The Drovers to do an assault on Bathurst and are picking up a few caches along the way.We parked near gz and wandered off to where the GPS's wanted us to go where were we all started looking where we thought it would be.Papi4506 spotted the container and as we are sure that he is a monkey in a man suit he was off like a shot to retrieve it.Our names were added to the log and everything returned as it was and he was back on terra firma in no time. Thanks 0319 for the cache.

I think I could see it.But, as I said in my previous log, I thought I was a bit old for adventurous tree climbing then. Almost 4 years later and now 75 years old, I am sure I am a bit old for adventurous tree climbing.Cheers to all the younger and fitter people out there.

We could see it from down below but I decided not to climb as I'm feeling a bit off colour.

Very hard cache! I have avoided doing it because it sounded so difficult but I took my boyfriend with me and he was very nimble up the tree!

07-Jul-23
We came, we saw, we did not conquer!
A little too wet and slippery for the climb. Will return one day in better weather.
Currently 8 degrees and raining.

Found the tree but Yeh Nah not doing that.

Got the car serviced today and then beelined for this one. A great little climb!

We are heading south from Brisbane in 2023 and picking up as many new LGA’s as we can.

What a year Sandyofthesea and I have had. We kitted out the Prado and took off from Perth, Western Australia at the start of April 2022 to travel more of Australia using geocaching as a guide to see the sights. We started with the Nullabour, Eyre and York Peninsulas, the Riverlands, visited family in Victoria and then back in SA it got cold. Flinders and the Oodnadatta Track was amazing and we finally warmed up in Dalhousie Springs. The Alice beckoned and then a change of plan and we ended up tackling the Tanami Track to the Kimberley and Bungles Bungles. Territory Day in Darwin was unhinged - please try and do it! The Gulf, the coast and the car breaker ‘Old Tele Track’ to the top of Cape York. This is a must but it’s not easy! Eventually made it to Brisbane to get some fixes to the car….. let’s see where we end up.

O319, I found Its up there... today. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.

**This Cache:**

I couldn't stop past this cache! Don't think I have ever cached in Young before, but a tree climb with a nice terrain rating made me very excited to stop here, rare to find high D/T's out in rural NSW!

Parked nearby and made the walk across the grounds to GZ, climbed the tree and quickly spotted the bison hanging only a short way up!

---

**Today:**

Day 1 of my road trip heading towards Townsville in NQ! Big Grin

Today I had an early work shift, and left just after lunchtime! Managed to squeeze 5 cache finds in today, didn't want to get any too close to home but got a few rural ones! Ended up driving as far as Albert, NSW, which had a nice campground to stay at. Off the highway meant it was a peaceful night with only a few other campers around! Cooked dinner in Forbes before the sun went down but squeezed in a little bit further to make the next couple of days more leisurely!

Up in Young to visit my son for Christmas who relocated here recently.
Wandered across the road before lunch to try my hand at this one, took a while and 2 climbs to spot the cache as I climbed past to well positioned cache on my first attempt.
Interesting to note that my Triton buddy was the last one to sign the log.

Thanks O319 for the challenge

#5908.
We spent a lovely day out in the cherry orchids picking and eat some of those delicious little fruits. Afterwards we just had to attempt a couple of caches. This one was the second one on the list. I couldn't spot it from the ground and decided to climb up to have a look. At first I could still not spot it, then looked a little higher and saw the container staring down at me - a little higher that I expected it to be. O well, I am up in the tree so I might as well climb a little higher. The kids kept a close and concerning eye on me from below, cheering me on to make it down safely after completing the necessary admin. Thanks for a fun and adventurous cache!

The geo monkey couldn’t resist a tree climb while passing through Young. Reading the logs he armed himself with proper write in the rain paper to replace the piece of paper that had been previously left. An easy climb for him which left him baffled why people would need a ladder positioned in the tree.
Thanks O319 for the fun placement.

I was super happy to not be solo caching today, My niece was the perfect helper to push up the tree, Took a few attempts to locate but once I spotted up she went. We removed soggy log & replaced with the only paper I could find in car, figured it was better than nothing with the effort it takes to get up there.

Didn’t actually FIND it because it’s stupidly difficult but I’m scoring as found because I am a Senior Citizen so I figure I have exemption. By all reports before I got here, sounds like it’s not worth finding anyway

Muggle65 and l are on a rather long road trip from Tumut back to Brisbane. This was our first cache break. That tree is extremely rough but who can resist a tree climb? The log was very hard to extract. But it rolled up to a tiny size and went back in easily. It really does need replacing. Thank you so much for placing this one.

TGG & I are on a road trip from Tumut to BrisVegas and Young was our first caching stop. In full support mode I assisted TGG in scaling this behemoth of a tree (purely in an encouraging manner) as nibble as a gecko she zoomed up & found the very soggy log which didn’t come out without a fight. may need attention. Great location love the tree, feelin Young

Wow....
Found with Noooty and Geo-mum after cherry picking! Very Happy

We parked at the street opposite and dashed down to the hide. Interesting spot, don't really know what to think about it. Was looking at the wrong tree at first but GPS soon told us otherwise. Couldn't see it but Noooty managed to spot it, but even after pointing it out to me, I still couldn't see it.

Well started to climb and even after climbing for a while, bailing out a few times and holding onto the trunk for dear life (It was VERY windy which unnevered me a lot) I still couldn't spot it. Sigh.

Noooty was starting to get impatient because of my cache-blindness. He started climbing and when he saw the close up for the hide he said no way and quickly called dibs on the youtube watcher.

Was still having a dilemma about the hide as I STILL couldn't see it. But then Noooty said which trunk it was on and then I realised that there was no way I could retrieve that. I tried my best but to no avail. It was too difficult, high and windy for me to get it.

So how did we get it? I hear you ask. Well Geo-mum stepped in and managed to amazingly climb all the way up and get it! My jaw was literally dropped as it was amazing that she could climb that and how windy it was! I mean I was struggling on the ground!

Noooty was still watching YouTube and didn't even know that his mum had just preformed a stunt as amazing as that!

Cache passed down. We didn't have a pen so settled for a pencil this hide. However the log was in such bad condition that we couldn't sign it! Hopefully Noooty will upload the photo when he logs it!

Cache placed back to where it belongs. 100% giving that find to Geo-mum!

TFTC O319!

JezNDez and I had made a mad 3000km, 4 day dash from Brisbane and back, on the hunt for a first to find at the summit of Mt Jagungal in Kosciuszko National Park. After successfully completing the overnight hike, we returned to Cooma for a night to enjoy a well earned hot shower and proper bed. After a good night's rest it was time to start the long drive back to Brisbane, visiting a number of caches along the way including this one.

Dez was designated to retrieve the cache this time around, while I was relegated to playing human step ladder to get her going. Dez managed to leave plenty of bark of her own during the retrieval and descent. At finger tip reach the logbook was extracted, only to find it too wet and tattered for even our super-dooper caching pens to write on. A photo of the logbook is attached as evidence of our visit. 21,704. Found with minniek during our October Long Weekend Outback Adventure.

Day 4 of our October Long Weekend Outback NSW trip. After enjoying a night at the local Motel rather than camping, we headed out relaxed ready for a big day. This was the next one for the day, and it was nice challenging tree climb. Having done quite a few of these lately after buying a TOTT we were a bit more prepared for this one. It still took a bit of manoeuvring as a few important branches have snapped off, but where there's a will there's a way ! Log is quite wet.

TFTC O319 !! Fav Point !

A long weekend brings with it a weekend of camping and caching. fitzy_1965 and I decided to do a loop from Goulburn out to Naranderra, Griffith, Condoblin and back home so I could pick up the last few counties out that way.

Heading from Condoblin to home today. After a small sleep in, we headed home caching along the way. Quick find but interesting retrival method was used....probably not recommended.

Had a bit of trouble with the phone GPS in finding the right tree. Think I found the the right one at last, but could not see the cache from terra firma. Also reading the other logs and being a bit old for adventurous tree climbing left it at that.
Thanks for bringing me here though.

Seen but not found. Terrain 4.0 is pretty accurate. Piked out.

04-Jul-20
Found, but... A little too high for a wimp like me. Could clearly see it, but wasn't prepared to damage my pants to get it. The log will have to go unsigned.

Thanks for the great cache

Nice find. Had some nearby muggled help us find it and introduced them to the wonderful work of caching.

Chocolistick03 and I were dropping a load of pavers at Young (from Queanbeyan). We stopped and made this find along our journey. The log book was damp (container wasn't properly closed and it is missing it's o-ring), so the writing is a little hard to read. I have attached a picture of my hand on the container as proof of the visit. Thanks O319.

I decided to spend the day on a day trip West of Yass to Young, Cootamundra and Gundagai. It was a nice day that was not as hot as some recently. I was happy to find all the caches I went looking for,and only skipped one long hill climb. It was a great day. I had an important tool with me to get started, then I made it far enough to see the key item and complete the caching duties without dropping anything.

Thanks.

Yes it is up there and we found it Yay!
This is a great tree to climb. We checked the branches as we went up and up.... Then as we sat and pondered how best to go higher we saw the wee cache just opposite us. Wonderful!
That was great. Fav Point from us for the fun climb.
Thanks heaps O319.

In town for a wedding, decided to climb up here this afternoon before putting my fancy clothes on. Could not spot it from below, but managed not to climb over it.

Cheers

Could not spot this one from the ground but while I was pondering how much higher I should go I saw it right across from me. Tftc

Sighted, but these older bones are not prepared to end up in Young hospital on such a cold damp morning.

Wow what an adventure. Made sure we were able to locate before we made the climb. Fav from us for sure. A bit scary in some points but well worth the stop off on our way home to Sydney TFTC

With a day off and time to spare before the next thing I have on, I decided on doing the caching trail that goes: Temora, Young, Murringo, Boorowa, Yass and back home through Harden. Big Grin This trail and picking up some new thongs from ‘Rivers’ lead to a great day out. I started the day with the new tree climb in Young which has been on the Sad list for quite some time and then picked up some trigpoints which has been on my to-do-list for quite some time. After this I went to ‘Rivers’ and then headed out to my next stop which was the mystery cache in Murringo. Next were the caches in Boorowa, Yass for lunch and then head home via Harden. TB visit on all found caches. I would like to thank all CO’s for placing the caches I found and for the enjoyment they brought me today. Big Grin
Today’s totals:
13 GC Finds Smile
3 GCA Finds Smile
1 DNF Sad
1 Not Attempted

After spending an hour here last time I wasn't to keen on another attempt but here I go. Up the tree I went and at about the 10 minute mark I was had something shining in my eyes. The sun was shining at the right spot and I made the find. After signing duties were done and making sure it was replaced correctly, it was time to move on and find the Young Trig-Points. TFTC, the new D/T combo and for letting me turn a Sad into a Smile!

07-Jan-19
Having finished the business that brought me to Young this morning, the rest of the day is mine to enjoy however the cache I like!
Where better to start than a nice tree climb?
Had a cursory look from the ground, then unleashed my inner squirrel and up the tree I went! Climbed a little at a time, constantly searching as I went and was rewarded with the find after a few minutes. Signed log in situ before retreating. As an added bonus I managed to compete the whole process without getting covered in sap!
TFTC, 0319 - lots of fun!

First to Find!!

Seeing this new cache upon opening the map the other day, i was instantly alert on no ftf yet, and so thinking it would go off sometime soon, and not having a geovehicle on hand (not to mention working and living on a farm near wombat) i promptly forgot all about it..
The d/t combo and a possible ftf up for grabs still, and a blank calender date for today, were too much to bear, as a group of us barrelled into town today collecting supplies.
The question was put out... "tree-climb anyone?" And suddenly everyone was curious, so including gz on todays adventures was an absolute highlight.. if only for the looks i got for my squirrelly scurry up into the tree.
Thanks so much for hiding a cache in young, that will be seriously difficult to muggle.
First favourite point added and my first first to find! I can hardly believe it! Woot!

First to DNF - More to come

14-Nov-18
First to DNF Sad

I received the email about this new cache yesterday and seeing how I had the day off today, I thought I would attempt a FTF. When I arrived, I could see GZ and the challenge that awaits me. After the short walk I got started looking up the closest trees to GZ and got into the most likely one. After a good 15mins I decided I needed to do 'possum spotting' (Meaning: look up from ground). From this I found a couple of possible things that look like the hides but after getting back up the tree and taking a look at those spots with a possible hide but all were red herrings. By this time it was about the 40 minute mark so I went down the tree one more time to try the possum spotting technique and I used a camera and I saw something different so back up the tree and still again it was a red herring. Now with cuts, grazes, bruises all over me and nearing the hour mark, I knew it was time to claim a DNF Sad and now time to get something to eat/drink and do some shopping. Thanks anyway O319.
