I am on my way from Oamaru to Christchurch, so this was a good place to stop to find a cache and stretch my legs. TFTC.
Armed with jandals and a chilly bin, a couple of Aussies headed across the ditch for a 3-week tiki tour, exploring the beauty of New Zealand.DAY 18: Christchurch, via Timaru, Ashburton and a rather special windmill.I qualify for this challenge - one I worked towards a couple of years ago. Thanks for showing us this special place by placing this cache, RAYZR tn koe~~
Thankfully this is not a busy road in the late afternoon but MrW stayed with the car just in case (no easy parking along here) while MrsW climbed up the steep bank to make a quick find. ?? All good and dry here. Happy that the checker says we qualify. Thank you.

NZ_B and I are on a road trip to the Geo Toroa Mega. I'm also hoping to get a multi everyday, so it is now titled the "Mega Multi Road Trip". Today is Day 5 from Timaru to Oamaru. I love challenge caches and the Hiden Date is one of the first sections I fulfilled in Project GC. Like you I had to do a bit if travel and various random side roads with two proving challenging until I could get to them. S a great feeling to see how far ive come. NZ_B pulled up here and it was a quick scramble to retrieve and sign my name. Thank you RAYZR and a FAV to for the great challenge. It's nice to have a trip where, alongside targeted caches, we also take time to find one's on a whim or ones that take a bit longer. We have all day and the caches are calling...[Itchyfeet2020](https://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=Itchyfeet2020) has used [Project-GC](https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC80GFE/38441 "Project-GC Challenge Checker") to see if they qualified for this challenge and they did.366 dates of 366 completed.

I'm from Paihia/Whangarei and I'm down in the South Island for 6 days with NZ_B on a geocaching trip.I had a few goals for the trip:*50 or 60 puzzles for my diamond badge on project gc*40 caches to get to my 6000th find*some South Island minutes for a challenge*but mostly a clean out of my ever growing solved puzzle list.Monday we collected the windmill geoart on our way to Oamaru. Tuesday the focus was solved A2O puzzles, the sunflowers and other solved puzzles. Today we're heading back to Christchurch collecting challenges and more solved puzzles. This was my second find for the day. Glad to pick it up today. I had it on a different list when I was down here last time and was disappointed later that I'd missed it. A scramble but I found in the 3rd or 4th tree I hunted in. Thanks for the challenge

Day 4 of the Fangsoki/1MinnieMoo NZ adventures. We got up and moving quickly this morning as we had big day of travel today heading from Lake Tekapo to Dunedin via Timaru and Oamaru. It was a chilly start to the morning with frost on the campervan and table to start the day.
Heading through Timaru we had a couple of caches on the list to find. We pulled the campervan up here and I leaped out to make the find.
Thanks for the cache RAYZR.

One of my sons in Whangarei is going on an OE. He sold his car to his brother Tim in Dunedin and fortunately for me Tim wanted me to drive the car down. Of course I jumped at the idea of a geocaching roadie. I've had lots of puzzles solved for such a long time so geoarts were the main target of the trip.
In Palmy area I wanted the shield series and the 20/20 geoart. Then Wairarapa was stickman (which we ran out of time for), the new M geoart and some archived skindo challenges. Wellington was finishing off the kiwi geoart. Nelson I had a few challenges I wanted before heading to Christchurch. It was family time there and perhaps the smile series but time ran out again. Off to Dunedin for the airplane geoart. Then it was time to fly home to say goodbye to my son heading to Denmark.
It was great to have my friend Supernanny come along on the trip for company. We had a wonderful trip and fantastic weather apart from one afternoon. Now it's time to start writing the massive backlog of logs. It might take a while.
I love challenge and puzzles. I'm back home now and I'm gutted I missed this one I had it on two of my lists but not the one I was using that day. I worked hard to get the last cache for this grid recently. Not sure when I'll be down again but thanks for the fun challenge

We had no difficulty qualifying for this challenge, but on a previous visit two years ago were unable to find the cache. With a photo added since then, and several logs indicating the coordinates were at least 20 metres out, today we stopped 20 metres before we reached the coordinates, and found ourselves right beside the specified tree, with a quick easy find following. For us the cache was 20 metres northwest of the coordinates at S44 25.463 E171 09.132. TFTC
I had spotted that I qualified for this, a year or so ago after moving down.. and kept meaning to grab it on one of my work trips.. but sadly none bought my close enough to detour... I thought I had better call in today and sign the log. Once at GZ, a quick scramble and I had the log in my hot little hands. Thanks for the challenge, sir, they're great to work on over time.

On a quicky weekend getaway down to the South Island (from Wellington). I flew into Christchurch on Saturday morning, and then drove down to Timaru for the night. Drove back up to Christchurch Sunday afternoon and flew home late Sunday night. My goal was to catch up with a friend in Timaru, and to target a few specific caches that I need, and a few others just 'cos. This is one of them.
No problem qualifying for this one, I really should go and sign the Wellington version of this challenge some time. Pretty sure I logged the same challenge up in Auckland at the beginning of the year. Seems to be a common one. Anyway, I was in the area so made my way here and after a short search in the long grass and trees I eventually found the cache. TFTC.

After a long weekend last year caching with grandson and geofriends blitzing the Smurf and Eclipse Series, headed down to nab this one after finding the last of the hidden dates to complete the grid. Alas the road was closed off.

I was missing 8th May for a while but got it on my last tour. Getting to gz more of an issue. Here last month and road closed. Forgot that and back today, still closed. Undeterred parked at north end and walked 1km to gz. No joy. Checked hint. Spoiler photo? Sadly no signal and phone in van 1km away. Road was passable as pipe laying down at the bottom of the hill at south end. Had a search and found it 20m away. Removed some obscene graffiti and headed back. Checked the photo - looks different with leaves.

This has taken a while to finish, and involved a bit of travelling around the South Island to score some of these dates. Log was signed in April this year, while passing, though at that stage I had a few more to collect. Thanks Rayzr, for taking me further than usual.
Day 2 - Labour weekend extended road trip with Kiwicampnut - relocated to stay south of the ditch. Buggar - Road closed approaching from the south. Will have to get the smile another time

Made my way to GZ and quickly spotted the cache container. All good here.
Luckily for me when I first found out this challenge I only need about 20 more days to complete it, so targeted caches on a few trips around the south island picking up geotour caches.
I had to get this challenge first as I needed one more positive attribute for another nearby challenge cache.
Today I was heading to Christchurch for the weekend so aimed at getting some challenge caches and others for my Jasmer and D/T grid. Thanks for the challenge!

When this challenge was noticed I found I only needed 13 days to fill. So knew I would be heading out of town up to Mt Hutt area twice (but caching only one of each leg) in July. The search was used to filter caches in each year for the dates needed and where they were close to Dunedin or Highway 1 and route 72.
Sat afternoon and into the night I made the normally 6.5 h drive almost double getting 23 caches, Plus this one of course to sign the log. It was signed with one day to do which was to be at new roundabout south Geraldine (or alternative there abouts).
It was really foggy Sat night in Timaru making navigating hard. So used phone navigator to lead me on the right roads to get to a junction where i needed to branch off, woops not Otapua Creek, so renetered right name Otapua and needed to do a u turn on Fairview Road. I did say it was foggy, could not see a good driveaway to turn but did see a well mowed grass verge and lawn so that was the spot and then got bogged @11.30 pm ended up stopping a passing ute and got towed out.
On reaching GZ searched for a good 20 mins extended search trees 20m up hill and found it.
Yes I did get a 2TF on the new roundabout near Geraldine.
Thanks for this challenge.

We were in the area today, so it seemed a good opportunity to sign the log. I have 18 more of these dates to collect, so am nearly there.
#9459. This is the last day of my Easter geotour adventure in the South Island,. Been travelling around with Infoferret since Friday and we have been in North Canterbury, West Coast, inland Otago, inland Canterbury and North Otago/South Canterbury. We stayed in Timaru overnight and will be heading north to Christchurch today but have quite a few caches to do around Timaru first before we head up towards Methven. While heading out to get some PWGT caches we stopped to grab some challenge caches on the way.
Soon after I started geocaching in 2014 I set myself a personal challenge to find all the dates hidden before I reached the first year anniversary of starting. At first it seemed easy but as I got into the 11th month I had a few gnarly ones to find. Some of the dates did not exist in Wellington so had to do some trips around Auckland to get the last ones. The 29 Feb was rare in those days - plenty hidden now. Eventually I got home with a few days to spare before the anniversary. I have hidden caches on some of the rare dates to aid others in this quest. This cache was easy to find but like nzkites who visited on the same day I had plenty of moogles watching me find it. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache where found. Thanks RAYZR for the cache.

See our qualifying list posted in Feb, we had to seek out a few of these dates over the last few years. I am sitting in the car while Mrs nzkites walks to GZ. I think please let this be an easier find than the last one, when two of us spent way too long for a DNF. When Mrs nzk returned she hadn't had any problem finding the cache but attracted way too much attention from the cows in the paddock above GZ, who all came over to the fence to watch her. If the farmer had been looking, he must have been wondering what was going on! This was ok until one or two of them decided they needed a toilet stop right there, and Mrs nzk had to jump back so as not to get splashed. She tried banging the fence and yelling at them but they resisted all attempts to shoo them away, then after she had signed the log and replaced the cache they all followed her along the fence line to where we had parked our vehicle. Thanks for the placement and the adventure. Cache all good.

I am back in Timaru after a sojorn of 2 years and I have noticed that there are still some caches that I didn't locate and sign off then. Well, I'm back again to do a bit more. Can't do them all as I would have nothing to do next time.

Thanks for the spoiler photo- certainly made a difference. Qualified for this a good few years ago. Nice to claim the smiley.
Morning geocaching with moko before leaving town. I think I was writing 6/6 for some reason!! I really wanted to come and revisit here after a dnf. At that stage the hint was by fence, and I did look everywhere that fitted the hint and wider. On revisit and with the new hint the hide was obvious, although 32m away from where the gps pointed me both times. Glad to have this one ticked off as I qualified some time ago! TFTC!!
Project -gc tells me I qualify so off onto the dusty roads to grab my reward. Found nestled in tree as described, 20m from GZ. Check the picture and it should be obvious which tree
Checked Project GC to see if I qualify and I do. Enjoying the caches on my trip around the South island
cache is still there have included a photo of tree it is in between the trunks it will be on the left if you are parked heading downhill
Qualified, ventured out in to the back of beyond, but sadly no find. I checked widely, both sides of the road. There was not even enough space anywhere to hide a 2l container as per hint.
Yes qualify but whether i get to it remains unknown altho' i will be in Chch next month
Another challenge I qualify for and to be found next time I am down your way. Thanks for the challenge.
Qualifying for the challenge was straightforward, but we were quite unable to find the cache.

Heading from Dunedin to Rolleston and stopping for a few caches along the way. Weather is helpful today. Thanks to all the COs for placing these caches and enhancing our trip around the South Island.

We had a busy day in Timaru today finding the TMGT caches and solved puzzles, and then on to Waimate picking up a bunch of challenge caches along the way.
Another challenge we are well qualified for. This was an interesting zigzag road! We opted to park the camper at the top and walk back to the cache. No problem making the find, thanks.

#17747. We enjoyed exploring this nice bit of gently rolling hill country south of Timaru. No problems qualifying for this one (StreetWalkerNZ fulfills challenge Hidden Date Challenge (South Canterbury) (GC80GFE)). TFTC.
Today StreetWalkerNZ and I need to head back to Christchurch, having only just scratched the surface of the Oamaru and environs caches. We decided to drive north after coffee in Oamaru, hoping to escape the rain.
The rain had stopped, so we decided to take the scenic route into Timaru, via some challenge caches. As we have cached for so many years, the grid was filled before challenge caches were became a thing. Attaching screenshot of my grid.
An interesting area that we hadn't been to before. Good view from here and cache was a quick find. Spotted paddlechick's name in the log book, looks like she is also taking the scenic route [:p]. TFTC.

Thank you for this Challenge and the cache, RAYZR.

Finally made it out here to grab the challenge caches. In the area with Minion 1 to visit Minion 2. Took a tour around the backroads to grab some others and we came across the Shetland pony club taking them out in pony drawn carts. A lovely day to be driving and caching.

We are on our summer holiday driving around the South Island with no real idea of where we will end up each day. We are often drawn to an area that has the potential to give us a few geocaching smilies and somewhere we have not spent time exploring before. In some cases we are revisiting placed that we have been before but liked so much we are going there again.
We were starting to think about heading back up the island for home, but I told gk about these challenge caches he was keen to come and find them.
Parking was not so easy for our campervan and trailer so we parked on the nearby road and GK went to find the cache while I stayed with the campervan just in case I had to move it. The find did not match the hint completely but it was still a quick find.
Thank you for placing this cache, I do enjoy challenge caches. And of course thank you for the smiley

I knew that I qualified for this as I've already done a similar challenge to this one and I'm working on getting two ticks per day. The remains of a skinned possum was at the base of the slope. I stuck a couple of twigs into the ground to help prevent the cache from slipping down the slope.
