Thanks AlbyDangles for hiding this cache, I needed a find for today to update my calendar and find streak. Your Traditional cache, Monument to Lucille Butterworth, was just what I needed. Tasmania Trip Day 7. I only stayed in Queenstown overnight, but I got a great feel for the place and would love to spend more time here. My target today was Hobart, but although the total distance did not seem too high, the nature of some of the roads and the lack of towns made for a longer sparser trip than I had expected. There were plenty of great nature spots along the way and when I did at last reach a bigger spot, New Norfolk, I had an enjoyable time exploring the town. I had expected more in Hamilton, but alas did not even get lunch there. After getting into Hobart I checked into my motel in Battery point and headed out on foot. I visited the coastal section of the pint end finished in Salamanca place for dinner and a few virtual caches before heading back up the hill to my accommodation. This was one of many of the drive by caches I found on this trip. Thanks for the cache AlbyDangles45955.24 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & June 2022 Tis but a Scratch #1 A#489**Albida**
[8959] Holiday in Tasmania, day 4. Today we spent quite some time on the road, driving from Hobart to Strahan. To fight boredom we integrated several stops for geocaches and short walks at Mount Field, Franklin River and Nelson Falls. We also stamped the logbook of this geocache successfully. Really a tragic location. TFTC!
Beautiful way to honour her and teach us how from something tragic we can so much good. TFTC.
Today Zozetta and I went caching at New Norfolk, starting the day with a find at Granton, then went up the Lyell Highway, finding a few more caches along the way. We found thirteen caches in New Norfolk, then made our way back down the Highway, finding a few more caches along the way. We ended the day with another find at Granton, a multi which I DNFed a year ago, so it was good to turn that into a smiley. A great day out with twenty caches found, ten traditionals, five adventure lab locations, two mysteries, two multis, and an EarthCache.
We followed the hint, but couldn’t find the cache where it should have been. After a minute we realised that we were in the wrong place and didn’t know the difference between left and right, and had a quick find after that.
Thanks for the cache AlbyDangles!

TFTC, AlbyDangles! Took us a bit, the hint was helpful but we need to learn our left from right.
Last cache for the day on the way home. Quick stop in to read the plaque and find the cache. All in G/C

A day in the Derwent Valley, with such a variety of ways to earn some smiley tokens for our geo-map of Tassie. A FP for a touching memorial to a very moving tragedy.
Thanks to AlbyDangles for adding this cache to the gameboard.

Had a one-hour trip down to New Norfolk today to get my daughter a gift voucher from her favourite shop “Flywheel” for Christmas only to find out that they were closed. Never mind when you are a Geocacher you never waste time on a beautiful day you just get some Geocaching in instead. Perfect.
Very sad story & lovely use of stone. Thanks for the story & find.
My finds today:
Main Street: New Norfolk (Adventure Lab)
GCA2TX7 – Main Street: New Norfolk – Bonus Cache (Mystery)

oh very sad story about her passed away last 1969... we stop for break for while then zoom to home.. tks
Day 4 still camping and caching in and around the district. This road is well known to me, having travelled along it to and from school back in the 60's of last century. Am familiar with the tragedy surrounding this shrine, so we were motivated to stop here and pay our respects. It is also interesting (to me at least) that the highway here was constructed by laying huge swathes of melaleuca scrub in the swamp and then filling with the usual layers of road construction materials. This probably accounts for the feeling of travelling on the ocean waves for many years as the melaleuca scrub slowly decayed. Since rebuilt of course, but it lasted about 45 years I suppose ! TFTC AlbyDangles.
Sad story. I hope they find answers so her living may also live in peace. Took a moment to reflect for Lucille and her family.
Always been fascinated by this monument. Finding this gave us an excuse to stop and have a look. Feel very sorry for the poor girls family. TFTC left a trackable
On our way back to Hobart from Strathgordon and stopped in to get this one. Very sad. But a quick easy find. TFTC
(A tragic story. Why do these things happen to such lovely people... it really makes me sad)
I pulled over safely and knew where the hide was due to actually reading the hint first and not the other way around but first i read the plaque on the monument to Lucille.
SL of a well made log book at 12:50 whilst seated on a nice big pre-warmed rock thanks to the lovely sunny conditions before i arrived [^]
The cache and contents are in A1 condition

Hi AlbyDangles, we are a caching team from sunny Qld, visiting your beautiful state. We were heading back from Mt Field with EeePees and thought we would stop in and find your cache. EeePees had already found it so pointed us in the right direction, found the cache and added our names to the log.
Thanks for hiding this cache here, hope to meet you one day.

This must be one of the saddest caches to be made - quite an extraordinary poem and tribute. Not easy to stop but managed to pull up in time. TFTC
Lots of mobilised muggles here!! I highly recommend the old "talking on the phone" routine for this one! Also, beware prickles and bees at GZ, worth it though!

A lovely spot for one so fondly remembered. RIP.

Very sad for the family. I did not know that this monument was here thanks for bringing me here TFTC
A monument that should remind people that nasty things happen to beautiful people. So sad ,but a very nice reminder. Thanks Alby.

Beautiful monument for a beautiful girl. Shed a tear reading her brothers words.
Such a tragic story and so sad that the family don’t seem to have had justice for Lucille.

Awesome spot with some awesome little contributions to the container. Definitely big enough to leave a little gift ️
We actually did the GCA virtual cache about Lucille Butterworth on the way out of Hobart earlier in the afternoon. And we recently watched a documentary about the unsolved case on tv.
This cache was a bit hard to access when you are heading towards New Norfolk but we managed to negotiate our way across the road and back again fairly easily.
The cache was a quick find thanks to the generous clue but was probably lucky to survive the very recent whipper snipping in the area. Think the workers came within about half a metre of this one!!
Thanks.
