A planned four-day caching trip to Ballarat and then up to St Arnaud to change some more green boxes into smiley faces.
A couple of Events are included but the main idea was to do and finish off any trails that are up this way that I have not completed. This will give me a clear start when I arrive for the St Arnaud Mega in November 2019.
The first day could not have been much worse to travel with a caravan behind into a head wind and the temperature hovering around the 44° mark. The White Beast breathed a sigh of relief when I finally arrived at the caravan park.
After partially setting up I thought a cold beer or two was more important as the main thing was water, power and the rest could be done when it was a little cooler. OK I forgot to set up the hot water but then just turning on the cold tap you got all the hot water you wanted.
I was surprised at the number of caching teams that were here or arrived after me.
The BBQ facilities which are first class in the park was well utilised all weekend and only a few metres away from the van.
A big thanks to all the caching teams that have placed caches in this area for us to find as after four days I have a lot to log.
Today I was travelling in the good company of HansandLinda and thankfully no DNF's, watching and looking in every cache just in case there was a clue lurking in there somewhere as we were checking out the Loop Track caches but none in this guy.
After finishing the loop track it was time to make an appearance at this very well attended event.
As others have stated many thanks to Flo/Wayne/Simon and the other helpers and of course my friend from the caravan park for the bottle of wine that went down very well at the next BBQ in the park.

Lovely BBQ.

Bentley and I had a great time - thank you Flo, Wayn and Simon. I really appreciated that all teams received a prize. I have now been able to secure my accommodation and camp site.
Thank you, Jane
Thank you, Jane
Love these lead up events.
My sincere apologies for the late log. I have geocaching finds dating back to 2011 in my GSAK database that I am yet to log; amounting to several thousand un-logged finds across the last 9 years.
So, what to do when you find yourself in this administrative caching 'hole' nightmare? Well you seek out a 'personal assistant' (thanks GoodLook), to assist to remedy the situation of course! I thank the CO for accepting my tardy log and for your understanding.
Thank you TheStArnaudEvent2019 for hosting this event.

What a great way to kick off the lead up events to the St Arnaud mega with great food, great company and not forgetting the very generous prizes for every team that attended. The temperature was kinder to us today thankfully as we sat/stood around under the pavilion talking non stop, enjoying the BBQ feast and the number game allocating us a very special keyring to remind us what we are here for.
Thanks Flo, Wayne, Simon and Penny for putting on another successful event, making us all feel very welcomed to your special town.

Wasn't sure we were going to make this but pleased that we did. Great to arrive and have lunch waiting for you. Thanks for the cake also.

A burger and a sausage, a free mug, what more could someone ask for from an event!? My thanks to the hosts.

After securing the nearby cache, hevwalker, Bron & I went in search of a place to sit.
Then some food, what a spread!! And the cold drinks were simply divine on another hot day.
What a turn out, there was certainly plenty of teams outs & about and it was great catching up with familiar faces.
Thank you so much for the event, the prizes, the food and hospitality Simon, Flo, Wayne and Sara.

Thanks for organising the event TheStArnaudEvent2019, I had a great time. A big thank you for arranging so many prizes, and a sponsor! The bbq lunch was very appreciated as well.
With the heat this weekend, we weren't sure that we would make it and nearly didn't. Although we decided to make the journey, the geovehicle had different ideas. Gertie certainly wasn't enjoying the heat and will need some attention when we return home. Thanks for another great event. They are always well attended and this was no exception.

A great way to Spend Australia Day, catching up with great friends from all over and making some new ones. All while attending the First lead up event to the LOCAL MEGA.
I must say there was quite the turn out, but Tyred n Cranky's catering had it all under control.
A big thanks to Tony for all the prizes and allowing every attending Team to go home with a prize, from Stubby holders to keyrings and even a bottle of wine and a nights accomidation at the Caravan park all great prizes. A big Thankyou.
And also thanks to sharkiefan for grabbing the tongs while I got distracted from the BBQ duties, and thanks for the help after the event.

Thank you for taking the time to put on a fantastic event. It is so good to put some faces to names and we are looking forward to coming back for the Mega!
Drove up from Mildura this morning with Mrs 4Moule and the geokids. My first out of town event. Was great to meet some new people and put some names to faces. Fabulous event. Well done to the organisisers.

Had a great day with Chooknchunk exploring local bush tracks and finding some imaginative caches, then enjoyed a bbq in the big shed. A terrific foretaste of the November event.
Fantastic day for an event.
Great spot, great food and great company.
Thanks for the event.

Of course Mary & David were there. Surely it can't be only 10 months till more excitement right here? Still, it is nearly the end of January. Thank goodness for the cool change late yesterday. Wonderful BBQ smells, and the expert chefs were hard at work again. Wonderful to meet new teams and see some more SA teams sneak across the border. Happy Australia Day to everyone - Mary found a bargain umbrella hat for the occasion, but nearly caused some serious eye injuries while dispensing hugs. Delighted to win a stubby holder. Passed on the "Florence Nightingale" geocoin to chooknchunk. Our thanks to TheStArnaudEvent2019.
An event in my hometown? An event just up the road? An opportunity to sit back and watch people to search for a cache of mine hidden very close by? On holidays?
The stars aligned.
There was no reason not to attend. It was a great part of a great day. Earlier in the day the St. Arnaud Hockey Club, of which I have the honour of being President won the 2018 Community Event of the Year at the Australia Day Awards for out Kids Night.....a night that was held in the exact location this event was held.
It's karma. I had to be here....and here I was. Charm Quark and Mini Quark were here too. It was a great day out with everything a person needs (aside from free beer or whisky).
Good food, good company, top weather and a prize draw or two doesn't go astray either.
Mini Quark, an 8 year old who lives in St. Arnaud, won the night's accommodation in a 2 bedroom cabin at the caravan park. She has plans for it too. Her birthday is coming up and she will offer it to one of her sets of grandparents to stay in for her birthday, on the proviso she has the other room!
Well organised and a great opportunity for us from St. Arnaud to show off Lord Nelson Park (and didn't it look fantastic) before the Mega in 10 months time.
Thanks Wayne, Flo and Simon, a great day, we had a blast.....and thanks for not raffling off that lovely chair!

The day is heating up as we enjoy our BBQ lunch in the shade of the pavilion overlooking the racetrack. What great facilities to hold the Mega in! A great BBQ meal , lots of cool drinks of water and cordial to keep us hydrated and even home made Banana Cake! Not that I had any because I don’t like Banana cake, bread , etc. I’m told it was delicious.
I liked the way the prizes were awarded how everyone went home with a prize! Thanks for a great event, team!

A huge thank you to Flo, Simon, Wayne, and Sarah for all of the hard work you put in to making this a most enjoyable event. The BBQ was lovely as was the banana cake.
I am certainly looking forward to returning to St Arnaud for the Mega later in the year.

Cool event. Thanks to Tyred n Cranky, GeoDog Penny & FUF009 for hosting event and special thanks to Tony M. Good number of people turned up for the event, it good see and catch up. Great food. The weather was great with slight cool breeze not like the previous hot days. Cheers
After watching our nephew/cousin get his commemorative medal at our local Australia Day event, we hightailed it to St Arnuad to join this very well attended event.
We're certainly very familiar with this location having attended several events here previously.
neisha07 & boo09 made friends with some kids from Mildura while I chatted with almost everyone.
A fantastic event as usual. Great food, home made cake & fresh, cool cordial on a warm day as well as some great prizes for all.
Thanks to Flo, Wayne, Penny, Simon & helper Sarah. See you at the MEGA! (& beforehand too I'm sure).

Arrived a little late for the start of the event, with clare007 & a friend...
We were way out bush this morning...
On arrival we were greeted with friendly smiles...a yummy BBQ...a cool place to sit...some icy drinks and great company to continue geochatting with...
It was lovely to catch up with you all & I will see you in 10 months, if not before X

We arrived half way through the event and walked into the prizes being awarded, once those festivities ended it was a quick walk over to the BBQ area where a sausage and patty were waiting to be purchased and consumed with delicious coleslaw and condiments. That was before a piece of Flo's legendary Banana Cake.....drool.....
I got the chance to chat with many whilst sipping on the ice cold lemon cordial - it was the perfect strength and temperature.....amazing....
Although a warm day, the breeze was just gorgeous and I could have sat around for hours.
A massive thank you to Flo, Wayne, Simon and of course Penny for all of your hard work and effort. I also want to thank the lovely Sarah for the effort and help she put in during the event.
You guys all rock! xx

JSando and I drove over from Melbourne, on our way to Ballarat for a concert. A great event, with plenty oh people about. I got to debut the new GVI banner, which looks amazing. Caught up with lots of old friends and made some new ones. We came home with a cool stubby holder each, and had a lot of fun. TFTE.
What a fantastic event to highlight the upcoming November event in St Arnaud. The weather was perfect, the BBQ was brilliant, the hosts were so welcoming and the presentations were wonderful. Thanks TnC, GDP and FUF, really looking forward to what is ahead.
TFTC. It is great to catch up with names you only see in log books. A great turnout for this 10 mths to the Mega event. Great too swap stories and catch up within happenings since the last time.
Chook's turn today to attend an event, as Chunk went to one yesterday in Ballarat while Chook was working. Grabbed a lift with Explorer Nan and introduced her to the delightful trails at St Arnaud before making our way to this event. Great to catch up with everyone. Spectacular hosting, BBQ and cake, as usual, by T&C, Penny and FUF. And what great prizes to promote the Mega in November! Thank you to all involved.
My first time up this way and looking forward to coming back in 10 months time for the Mega.
The organisation for this event was brilliant and the BBQ was a welcoming addition and very yummy.
Great to catch up with cachers that I have met before and meeting new ones as well.
I loved the key ring that I got as well.
Thanks Tyred n Cranky, Geo Dog Penny and FUF009 for putting on a great lead up event.

Will be in town for the weekend but am not sure that I will get there in time to attend the event due to travel times / distance.
Yay.. A last minute change in work roster means half team of ww2_nut can now attend. Mrs & 2 geokids super excited to making the trip. Can't wait to put some names to faces.
muff1 had full intentions of attending this event, until tonight. It looks like we will be in Brisbane on the 25th January for a very important wedding. Have a great time everyone.
So sorry we will not be able to be there as we will be attending a family birthday party in Melbourne on that day.
Hoping to get there for this one...better make some plans...possibly bringing muggle friend.
A good excuse to go for a road trip in January and build up finds for that month. The Evil Muggle and I will be there. Will there be vegetarian options, or does he have to bring his own?
