My first day in Sydney, and I had logged five caches already. Would I go back to my hotel, or go for another one? Silly question! However, I wish I'd read the *online* cache description first--I didn't realise that it was temporarily unavailable! As the previous log entry indicated, the cache was missing. However, I wasn't giving up that easily.
I had a small container in my kit and a spare log book. So, I put two Tuckfield's bird cards, a small penguin, Taiwan $1, Singapore 20c, 2 x heart-shaped beads, and a tube of super glue into the container with the log book, and placed it where the hint indicated it should have been.
It was 8:00 p.m., but the place was still as busy as Pitt Street! I first had to contend with a bloke carrying four shopping bags (an indigent?). After he departed, two blokes, a dog, and a kid with a football turned up and started playing the State of Origin game early--it was pitch black, and they kicked the ball around for about 10 minutes! Then a group of about 15 people turned up with torches and a tour guide!
I managed to place the cahe and escape. By the way, the view at night is magnificent! Luna Park was all lit up, and I watched a huge ship leave port and go under the Bridge--great! [^]

unless someone can confirm that it has not fallen into the abyss, this cache is no longer available. I may re-instate another version here some day.
What a day. Absolutely pouring down. Found the cache BUT,
as I put my hand in the slot I heard a bang so assume that it had been put in too far and fell down behind. Can you replace, retrieve? Perhaps someone did not return it to the original position of left or right of the slot which seemed a safer place to hide it.
Lovely spot on a sunny day! Enjoyed refuge in the place above.
Thanks for the cache.

Walked up from The Rocks. Found the cache with the aid of the clue. Some people were around, but not enough to cause any problems.
Super views.

Container replaced, as requested by Pesky!
Sidestepped the queuing wedding parties and Japanese tourists to retrieve the various fragments of cache and proceeded to a shady spot to have a look at it... Spent some time reading all the logs - the cache has been found by at least 3 muggles, so it's amazing that it is still there.
After transferring all the cache contents across to the new container, I found that it was 1mm wider than the old one, so I couldn't get it back in the hidey hole . However, as I was trying to get it back in I noticed something metallic sticking out of another hole next to the cache... stuck my hand in and retrieved a large pair of scissors ... Using the scissors I managed to trim off a couple of millimeters off the case - meaning that it is now an easy fit (well, easier anyway). Talk about good luck...

Another successful find on Xmas night.

Logged only, no swaps. (This box is in URGENT need of replacement.)
Thanks

I had some time to kill today while waiting for the rail strike to end, looking for some caches seemed the best way to do it.
This was an easy find and a not so easy return. I arrived at GZ only to see a couple taking photos of each other so I had to wait until they left. As I was removing the cache from its hiding spot an old Kombi with Victorian plates pulled up and its occupants got out and wandered around all over GZ (At first I thought some Mexican cachers had arrived). I took the cache to a seat some distance away to open it and write in the log book without attracting too much attention. A female appeared and sat on the grass about 10 feet from me and the Kombi remained parked at GZ, After about 30 mins it moved off, leaving one person and a tripod at GZ. He mounted a camera on the tripod and started filming. While he was filming away from GZ I quickly slipped the cache back, just as another vehicle arrived.
I found out later that they were producing a low budget film about a bloke who talks some off his mates into a round Australia trip, and of course is being chased by the 'bad guys'
Great place and good views, the nearby observatory is worth a look. The cache is in need of maintenance as the container lid is no longer attached to the container. I tied it on with some material I found nearby.

Yes! At last, a successful days caching in Australia. This was my last day before flying back to England and I wanted to make amends for my dismal 2 caches from 7 attempts in the previous few weeks.
This was my third of four finds today (7 attempted). It was a great spot to hide it, however, as many people have said, the box is well and truly knackered and is in desperate need for a new one.
Thanks for the cache! TNLN.

Phew, it is indeed a busy spot! [8)] Apparently we were the second for today, in amongst the baby strollers, photo clickers and general passers by. Something about this cache reminded us of a John le Carre novel, like a dead-letter drop on Hampstead Heath maybe. Anyway, we found it pretty quickly and performed the tricky extraction manouevre. Holding a mobile phone (or GPSr) to the ear is a marvellous cover if you think you might be attracting attention. Nothing odd about someone standing in a peculiar position whilst talking into a phone (or pretending to). Left a Geocoin from Oregon (No 0333) which can be tracked on the web.
Thanks for the fun Mr Prime Monkey. The cache box is definitely on its last legs.

No weddings. No people. Found most unusual item almost next to cache. Put it back. Took Hong Kong dollar, left Harry Potter ornament. Found at 9:20 AM. We 2

Easy find and retrieve - fluked the right angle to get the container out.
The case is showing signs of wear and won't survive too much longer. If anyone has a spare video case then you might like to do some maintenance when you visit.

We tore the tree apart until we realised we were looking in the wrong spot! (see pic)
Luckily the rain kept the wedding parties away long enough for us to find the cache although it took a lot of work to extricate it from its hidey hole. BTW, are the scissors part of the cache?
Thanks for the great views.
PS - new batteries are needed.

A nice early start helps. We only had to wait for a garbage truck and a couple taking photos to go. Soon found it and it was a tight squeeze to get it out.
left Hong Kong dollar & Austrian Shilling. Took Cade Card & Snickers the Dog TB.

4:45pm - After getting frustrated with two no-finds downtown, it was a real pleasure climbing up to the top of this hill with its spectacular view to find the well-hidden cache. It was, indeed, tough to get it out of its hiding spot. Took a pen and left Snickers the Dog travel bug. Thanks for luring us up to this place. Kay & Bob
Yay. My first solo cache found on the 3rd attempt!
I was soo nervous and paranoid of being seen that I walked away from the cache after having returned it to it's hidding place with the cache's pen still in my hand!
There were too many people around to go back at that time, so I had to make a special trip back later just to return the pen. How embarressing.
Took some insect repellant, left CadeCard #1.

D'oh! It helps if you read the hint properly. I was looking in 'the wrong spot' just because I had it in my mind that that's where the hint said to look...
I'll try again tomorrow!

Great views, I walked down after uni. I was able to retrieve the cache quickly (lifting does help) but when I was going to put it back, somebody sat down on the seat next to the hiding spot. So I had to wait. And wait. Then she took off her shoes and I knew I was in for a looong wait. Eventually the area cleared and I put it back without being seen.
I came without any swaps so I bought a postcard on the way there- which has a similar view to what you get from the cache site.
Took out the 25 pin gender converter and "Cappy" TB.

A fairly easy find, the fun was in retrieving it..
Had to wait for picnic-ers and a couple getting friendly on a nearby bench to leave. After that it was farily easy.
The case is a little worse for wear, a syptom of the tight fit i think.
Left Cappy TB and a "peace" ring, took a USA penny

Success! I had been unable to find several previous caches, so I went straight for the hint on this one I'm afraid! Tricky one to extract. Was dark and late with no-one around so didn't have to take too much care. TNLN.
Yaay! A successful lunch half-hour. Had to run pretty fast to get there and back from the CBD, so now pretty sweaty as a result. (It is hot and sunny out there!) A superb vista made it well worth the effort.
Quite a few people around but a quick swipe got it out while their backs were turned. If you're having trouble with extraction, try lifting.
Took a fridge magnet, left a fat blue marker pen.

Hahahah despite the fact that there were some wedding photos about to be taken, I pretended I was a tourist taking photos of the bridgte while I grabbed this cache. THe darn thing is pretty well wedged in there though!!!
We had a very early start to the day, leaving NZ at the crack of dawn. This was our first Australian cache. There were a few people around but we managed to retrieve the cache quite easily. It was a very warm afternoon and we enjoyed the walk and the views.
- Australian pen, + NZ pen

Walked up here from Darling Harbour. I never liked Sydney before, but the walk changed my mind. Really enjoyed the old buildings everywhere. Nice view from the cache. Took a dolphin toy and left Left Eye travel bug.
found as part of kiwimonster when we ventured away from Oregon to visit Australia
Our first Southern Hemisphere cache! Found it with little difficulty after decrypting the hint. We were pleased that the battery was flat . The case is cracking a bit. Took nothing, but left our signature kiwimonster was here pen. Thanks for the hunt.
Got cache(worse for wear)out on 2nd attempt, too many people at GZ left bulb, took PC Putting it back a problem hundreds of school kids arrived for holiday picnic!!
Nice easy find once you decode the hint.
No observers at the cache location (not counting the old guy sitting on the bench not 5 meters away).
No surprises on opening the cache (thankfully).
Took nothing, left nothing

No wedding ceremonies here when I got here (around 9.30pm on Thursday night), but there were some drunken louts passing by. (If anyone was going to wake the neighbours, they were). The view was superb, the cache easy enough to find, the only hard bit was getting the sucker out of there! It took me at least 2 minutes to prise it out! (How you would do that with people about I have no idea). Took a pink plastic squeezy tube thing (still don’t know what it is, but it looked like fun), and left a serial gender converter.
Thanks GeoMonkey Prime for the fantastic views, and for the fun, ThomasS.

Ok, what kind of sick joke is this ? I found the cache but could not remove it from it's location. You ever watch the Discovery channel? They say if you hide nuts in a termite nest and a Monkey sees you hide the nuts the Monkey will reach in grab the nuts but will get stuck beacause it won't open it's fist. Well this is what happened to me on this cache.   Â
I think you should change the name to Monkey trap.

Just got home from our antipodean trip. Thanks for getting us up to this fabulous view (although there are LOTS of fab. views in Sydney). Forgot our 'bits' so TNLN.
Dark and wet-great, lets get DWTN. Guaranteed no-one else around. Fabulous sights at 8pm, No swaps, as nothing right size. Battery flat (luckily!!)! Thanks to Geomonkeys.
Wonderful view from here. Try getting to the cache was near impossible. Too many photographers around. Managed to slip in and retrieve the goodies.
The hard part was getting it back in. Anyway thanks for this one.

After success with i!4: Metro this morning we headed on to this cache. I had been waiting to find this one, as there had always been too many people around before.
We liked the cache container.

A flying visit to the big smoke.... no one but a couple making out above. had to wait a minute or two fo a few people to depart before I could replace the cache. Good one monkeys
easy find. Damn Geomonkeys, this is a premium cache..If only half the caches in NZ
were of this quality (in terms of location and the thought that went into the caches'
presentation). Didn't find any neighbors to wake when I visited at about 6pm. The
video cassette box is really hard to shut with the toys inside...
In: Cool 'Kaon Technologies' pen (the co I work for), really nice to write with
Out: LSI chip (will make a great keyring when I get home and drill out a hole in it)
Thanks Geomonkeys - this counts for 2 finds, I was looking for a band rotunda to fill
in a virtual cache ..
PS: The batteries need replacing.

Had a weekend trip to Sydney to visit some friends. Walked up from the rocks. No weddings here, but there were hundred or so school kids. Saw the cache easily and as we took the photo, a quick arm flash grabbed the cache with out anyone seeing. Took a lighter and American coin, left disney characters and batman card. Certainly a must-do cache for tourist, the view was beautiful. Thanks Geomonkeys.
Found today at 4pm with the help of Julia and James--- maybe Saturday wasn't the best day to do this one. We had to dodge 4 wedding couples and accompanying guests, photographers, etc etc etc.
Nice views from the hill. Julia drew the short straw so she was the one to put her hand in!
Left a Met Police keyring and took the mirror.
Thanks, Nick and Ali (UK)

Easy to find, hard to get. Came by here over 2 days and found a constant procession of wedding parties and onlookers. Didn't want to give it away so we kept our distance...
(#149) 15:00
Wow! the last person to find this one must have been really tall. I had to use a stick to coax the container close enough for me to grab it. The whole discovery and retrieval process took the better part of an hour due to frequent passers-by, but I was able to get it, log it, and replace it without attracting attention. Took nothing, left a few US coins.
Thanks for the cache and the nice view.

A reasonably easy find. Even managed this one dispite forgeting the GPS. Doh! Extracted it without any drama, however like everyone else we had to wait about 20 minutes for a wedding party to depart so we could replace it. I think we got away with it...
Left a wheeled fish from a kinder surprise toy and a pen, took some lip balm. Also, as mentioned by Mind Socket (Nov 3) the signiture piece is out of juice. Otherwise a great spot for a cache. Thanks Geomonkeys!
Sorry for the delay in logging my visit, I've been at sea. I snuck out to this cache with my daughter, age 6, who is always up for a hunt, while my jet lagged husband and son went to bed. It was a quick find with a great view. The travel bug is safely on its way to California and will be home on January 5 and ready for a trip to Oregon. Thanks for the fun cache find while on holiday! HollyJ
E&E found cache while on holiday. Let loose a travel bug, (visit link) Cicada Bug. It is racing back to Oregon, USA.
We left 3 dice and a finger trap and took the SES badge left on 26/10/02.
Love the view. Now we're going to go climb the bridge.

The signature piece needs some maintenance, it appears to be out of juice.

Team Phanargh (Jo, Nicci and Rex), found this one on the way back from a quick look at i!8. Beautiful spot there was three weddings there when we arrived but we timed our move perfectly and grabbed it between groups. No one saw a thing.

The location was packed with the local artists today. With paints and easils in hand this was a difficult cache due to the amount of people. Managed to swap some Pooh bear stickers for a fridge magnet..... Great views
Found 20:10, after a short stroll from our hotel. Fantastic night time views, our first experience of night time caching. Which will explain the appalling hand writing in the log and also the brevity of the log.
Wake the neighbours? The scream of suprise when Biggles Bear got caught by the trap almost woke the dead!!
Great Cache Mr. Monkey.
Took travel bug and left USD 1.00

Popped up after work... a truly magnificent view as the sun was setting.
The timing was ideal, as the area was nice and quiet, until...
We added a signalling mirror, and carefully replaced.

Went here in the middle of the day with people exercising and sleeping around the place. Retrieved the cache well Hounddog had to it was a bit tall for SNIFTER and we proceeded to the park bench. Oh dear I think we got it. Took some scissors and left some bug repellant.

An early morning expedition to this interesting site paid off. There was a homeless guy sitting on a bench about 2m away from the cache. Pretending I was a sightseer taking photos I snuck up behind and rescued the cache without being seen. I immediately opened the cache and...... you wouldn't beleive what happened next. I took a travel duck and left some snippers.

Weddings indeed. We had to wade our way through 3 bridal parties, and wait for one to move on from ground zero. We figured that trying to covertly remove the cache from 1ft above the photographers head while a whole wedding party watched and shouted cheese was not such a smart thing to do. So we waited and then pounced while they were taking photo's from another angle.
We spotted another bridal party 50m away coming up the hill at speed, so we had to log the cache and reset it in double quick time.
Great urban cache Monkeys!
Well, it was a real adventure for Biohzrd and I to find this one-- we didn't know Sydney at all, but set out with only our coordinates and our wits to guide us.
We saw some great places and climbed a lot of stairs and arrived just after dark at the million dollar view. Great cache site!
The neighbors may have been bothered a bit! We also had to creep and crawl thru the shadows to avoid being seen. A bunch of families may still be talking about the crazy American girls slinking around!
We brought a travel bug from Hawaii (who originated in southern california). Her name is Daisy Duck and she is thrilled to be in NSW. She is feeling a little squished in that casette box however, so please fetch her and help her continue her travels.
Cleaned out some hotel swag from the cache so Daisy would fit and took a glass bead.
So glad we came to your fair city and delivered our bug!
Thanks as well to all the friendly cachers in NSW who helped us find this lovely site.

Pesky's latest release is largely G rated but some R rated material was evident in one particular scene. After finding the cache, we settled down with the Sydney Morning Herald for half an hour over lunch.
Know this place well and didn't even need to use the GPS. Not a bride or groom in sight, but plenty of people soaking up the rays.
Casually leant on the door taking photos of the Coat Hanger and while no-one was looking quickly retrieved the cache and snuck off to open it. Used the same tactic to put it back but had to wait for one guy to move from right in front of it.

WOW what a view... but unfortunately this also means that thousands of people have a clear view of you...
Found this one at about 12:15 and had to wait until about 13:00 to replace it (due to a never ending supply of people deciding to eat their lunch on the bench right next to GZ)... When a guy settled down with his Sydney Morning Herald on the same bench, I decided he wasn't going to move quickly and decided to risk re-stashing it just out of his view...
Mini-Leek & I arrived after an earlier visit by Ideology, but I'm sure that they'll log their find later.
No swaps... left them in the car!!!
A nice but pesky one GeoMonkeys!!! [:0]

Ha Ha... Nice try i! but the guy I saw reading the SMH was at least 60... A new team member?
Its strange you know but I am sure a Alien had been seen in this location and if he did not wake the neighbors I doubt any other clowns would.
Slipped across to the cache and quietly located the clever stash.
For being so pesky, I pinched one of the monkeys Freddo's.
Peaceful one, Geomonkeys.

Scubamegs here (or scubadon't). I'm logging this and could be long winded - sorry. Alternate Route drove me to this cache tonight, 3 years ago he drove me to exactly the same spot. It was the last time I was here and it was my wedding day. How exciting to grab a virgin cache at such a special spot!! Husband Scubadoo was with us. We swapped a lucky frog for a chocky frog.
Thankyou very much Geomonkeys !!!!!!
(how bout that - I didn't go on and on after all !!)

A case of deja vu playing chauffer for Scubadon't up to this favourite wedding location.
Didn't even need the GPS to find this one.
Didn't wake the neighbours, but may have disturbed some homeless people in the park.
Swapped some cologne for a chocolate frog.
Second virgin cache in one day. Woo Hoo
