Geo Jessie and I had a nice day for a paddle. On getting to the bridge area on the main street, we were faced with a problem of how to get a 25kg kayak in and more difficult still out of the water up a steep slope, so we wondered around trying to find a better launching spot. Finally got the perfect area to get the kayak in and out easily. A nice leisurely paddle upstream and the cache located and signed with no problem. Enjoyed getting to this one! TFTC!

A nice wee paddle to the cache with Geomum today. Took a while to figure out how to get the kayak into the water, but once we had done so it was a cruisey trip to get the cache.
TFTC!

Returned this morning to the scene of my last defeat.
A little better equipped and with a support party (they wanted a laugh)
Went to the water edge with my inflatable craft and made a thorouly dignified mount, having only one paddle brought some hoots from the cheapseats but I was detemined to have the last laugh.
Beached my craft at a nearby mudflat so I could empty the water out (far from the onlookers) and then back in to hunt mode. Manouvered back out with some difficulty and on closing in saw the obvious!
Retrieved the cache and went to sign the log when I dicovered my pen must have fallen off my lanyard and onto the inflatables floor, when tipping the boat out on the mud flat my pen must have gone with it.

A quick return to the mudflat meant more cheers from the shore, but there it was, back into the inflatable and after a lot of one sided strokes and manouvering the log was signed.

My return was uneventful and after a fair bit of meandering and calls from the shore to wacth for Crocs I managed to step out of the inflatable on to dry land.

Thanks for the fun and the challenge, good to strike something different!, I will remember Xmas 2018.

It became evident to me this morning that an attempt to wade to this cache was a no goer.
Entered the water from the track, glad I had been advised to wear footwear as the mud was at least about shin to knee level. The water temperature was no too bad, went out to waist level but was not game to go any deeper!.
Returned to the bank a bit discouraged and found whilst the water temperature was acceptable, the smell wasn't.
To complete the morning the rain had got quite heavy as I trudged back to my vehicle.
But there will be another day!.

(FTF) and a merry Xmas to you to.
Never one to pass up the chance to get out the new caching tool,I would got to this sooner but my phone is low on space and the email didn't filter through ....
Thought this going to be a no go today as it was another wet day this morning so pottered around the house until after lunch when the sun finally came out .
Told the kids we would take the kayak to the bay but first a quick detour to grab this one.
Didn't start out to well as we were driving through Temuka (from Geraldine) when I ask if someone had put the paddle in the truck .......
No was the answer (bugger)...
So half an hour behind schedule we finally made it to the creek!!!
Parked the truck by the bridge and slid the kayak down the bank.
Yeah wouldnt want to swim in that one .
Had the creek to myself (not much of a shock there) and five minutes after leaving the bridge I rounded the bend to see gz (made me chuckle). Just had to be, tied up along side to find an empty log book yippee quickly signed and replaced tftc and have good new year !!fav of course for the ftf
