Third letterbox cache found while strolling around this wonderful nature park! The newest cacher among us, Solcita, took care of business once we arrived at ground zero. All caches collected on a beautiful Saturday morning out on the Wildbark Tour hosted by Isopedawhat an incredible job theyve done with this sanctuary! We had some seriously dense fog on arrival, but that cleared for us into a stunning day. All logs signed as WBT2. Thanks!

Day out and about with Isopeda and WBT2I felt quite safe after last night snake training session where we learnt a lot about snakes behaviour and how they are not out there to get usAlso Isopeda told us where the snake bandage was on her backpack in case we needed that informationLuckily it was not necessary Its good to be aware and be safe on the bush

It was almost a year ago when I decided I was going to attend the Canberra Mega event. I found some amazingly cheap accommodation not too far from the site and booked it straight away. I had assumed that my kids would not be interested in attending. However, I was pleasantly surprised when my son declared he was going to come with me. We headed down Thursday night and registered Friday morning. He was very excited by the items in the goodies bag and immediately started asking everyone he saw if they could help to complete his Bingo card. After an hour, it was all filled in. He then spotted the Space Hunt and decided that was our next challenge. We got through 14 spots on Friday and hoped that we could complete the last 10 today. We headed out to Wildbark, mainly cause I really liked the area yesterday when we were there, and started at the other end. There were a few on the agenda for the day, so we set out full steam ahead. After completing a bunch of other caches, we set off to do this letterbox. We couldn't figure out how to get to the right side of the fence when we spotted the gate up ahead... thank goodness. We made our way to GZ and started our search... as my son was the navigator on this one, he stopped as soon as he came near a log. Clearly, it was not the right place when I realised we still had about 10m to go.Once at the right location, it was a super quick find. Log signed, stamp book stamped, ready for the next adventure.TFTC

1244 for the tribeOCW KWmoo at the Capital GeoBash Mega shooting for a new record for caches in a day, both in number and in variety. With the seriously impressive AL series we snagged a new record of 58 caches for the day including a new DT combo, a new record of 10 cache types in the day, a GEOCACHING WEDDING , two letterboxes and our first Mega event. Met some great people including both Signal the Frog and a lovely community reviewer from Victoria among other legends of the game.SL as either R&T or our full name. Cache in great condition. Thanks for placing this series, we are in a different mega but using the series as intended for lots of cache types on a single day! The fences made caching interesting in this area as you could not travel as the crow flies!A MASSIVE thank you to all COs, for those who lent us TOTTs, for those who created the amazing ALs and to the organising committee. We had a wonderful day.

07-Dec-22
I joined team Domsky for a walk on the lower slopes of Mulligans Flat reserve visiting several caches lots of the people I usually cache with did some years ago on a Leap year day. We seemed to stuff up the initial big fence crossing, but we met up inside and set about the days caching. The reserve seems in great condition. The grass was lush and green but not excessive. We saw the big dam very full and some interesting lean too shelters. It was also great to talk about all things caching and Canberra as we went along.

As we walked on towards the dam to this letter box and the multi, we were happy that it did not take too long to find this cache as we went along.

Thanks for the cache DARKSIDEDAN

#527 With hopes of clearing out a good portion of caches in Mulligans, especially those ones further out DELTA SQUAD assembled. We trekked for approximately 15 km over a 6.5 hour period. Upon exiting the reserve we only had one DNF, a very successful day!

The third letterbox find for the day and definitely some good use of our stamps. Good to give them a good run. Thanks DSD

18-Jun-22
Came out this way today with Turtle284 and Deadthief, we found many caches, and walked in total about 15km, all in all a very successful expedition, thanks for the fun.

Find #4659

Lockdown has bought a totally different approach to caching with the introduction of homework! Much time for homework in fact. Therefore many more puzzles solved, both as a solo and collective effort. Thanks to my fellow geo buddies for assistance when needed.

And in between there are still some traditionals, though not nearly as many of them left these days

Logs all in good condition unless otherwise noted.

Thanks to DARKSIDEDAN for putting out and maintaining all of these caches for our enjoyment!

Setting a target today for 12 cache types in a day and collecting these ones from Mulligans Flat with Isopeda. Tftc

27-Oct-21
This was really difficult to retrieve having been pushed so far in and both Gerriactive and I drew blood in the process. Gerri was the hero here and we have made it a bit easier to retrieve for the next person. The time and perfect sitting log made this a good place for lunch and a cuppa. Most pleasant, thank you DSD.

27-Oct-21
Simple cache. Love a letterbox

27-Oct-21
This one was certainly a challenge retrieving it. Silvereyes and I spent quite a bit of time here, but finally worked up a longer reach and had cache in hand. Put back not so far in. Was so nice having our cuppa and lunch here. Thank you for the cache Darksidedan and bringing us to a lovely part of the bush.

11-Oct-21
Nice area to walk in, TFTC

03-Oct-21
For today's daily exercise window I returned to the squishy, post-rain landscape of Mulligans Flat where I enjoyed a 12.5 km loop targeting a wide variety of caches - some new, some old. Lots and lots of people walking and riding on the trails, however I mostly bush-bashed and saw mostly wallabies and kangaroos. An extremely pleasant way to spend the afternoon.

A straightforward find at GZ - thanks, DSD. Favourite from me for the series which gave me a great excuse for a walk around here today.

21-Aug-21
Ooooo thanks!!

20-Aug-21
New container and logbook

28-Mar-21
I walked here from nearby “Mulligans Mailbox” and my heart sank a little when I saw the vermin-proof fence. Fortunately there is a gate!

I recent finally managed 11 types in a day, and that included a webcam and a locationless, so I’m dying to know what the 12 types are here; please tell me if you know.

CUT AND PASTE SECTION Streak day 74 Below is a blurb about us. We are trying to get a badge from Project-GC for writing found log files of 100 words or more. Once we get this badge we will stop writing this. We are also trying to get badges for adding photos to our found logs. We Started caching in December 2019 and by January 2020 we were hooked. As we are on the road full time (living in a caravan), caching fits in well with this lifestyle. It is taking us to places that we would normally not have gone. When we move to a new place we also look at what caches are in the area and how many days we will need to be there to get the caches we want.

29-Feb-20
fitzy_1965 and I were up early and on the road to get to Canberra for a day of Leap Day caching.

CITOing done and some general chatting before we left for a long walk around Mulligan's Flat Reserve to help us get 10 types in a day accompanied by Smittengranny.

Quick find here today.

29-Feb-20
I know that people choose to cache in different ways and never has it been so obvious as today. So many turned up for the CITO but then dispersed in all directions to attempt to achieve their goals for this Leap Year Day. I was fortunate enough to be able to travel with Minniek and Fitzy_65 and we were after 10 different types for the day. This was #4 The cache was found in good condition and duly signed before heading off towards the next one. TFTLB Darksidedan

20,206. Found during an epic days caching (mainly with minniek and smittengranny) while celebrating the elusive 29 February.

Last time round in 2016 I went for numbers (before today I had 118 caches on 29 Feb), so this year I went for cache types - managing 10 ! After ticking off a CITO and a Virtual it was off to Mulligans Flat (I love caching around here) for bunch of other types. Next one along our track was this neat Letterbox Hybrid. I have always enjoyed LBH's (I was the first Aussie to get to 100 of them) and this was a nice one to collect.

Thanks DSD !!

29-Feb-20
We did a huge day here collecting all types of caches along the way. Its nice to see the green landscape appearing, We spotted some animals as well Echidnas, wallaby, kangaroos and birds on todays travel. TFTC

After attending the CITO (sort of) nearby, I ended up heading off caching with JohnoMawbs for a few hours, before the Wattle Day event later that afternoon. We found about 20 caches (18 I had not found, 2 I already had), had fun walking and talking, and I took my usual lots of photos ...

01-Sep-19
With another day off and a CITO on nearbyish, I decided on taking the trip over Canberra for a day of caching. Big Grin After the CITO, Aykayem and I teamed up to collect some caches that:
1. I hadn’t found
2. She hadn’t found
3. We hadn’t found
These included solved puzzles, WherIGo’s, Multi’s and a few other caches that were along the way. I ended up with 7 different cache types today. Big Grin We enjoyed our walk around ‘Mulligans Flat Nature Reserve’, seeing all the wildlife and finding all the caches we found today. Most caches, that we found today were quick finds and in great shape. There were only a couple that took a little bit of an extra look, full logs, damp contents and minor damage to the containers. TB visit on all caches. I would like to thank all CO’s of the caches I found for placing them to bring me and the rest of the caching community joy and to these unique locations. Big Grin TFTC’s and TFTE Big Grin

It's always fun to find letterbox caches but unfortunately, there are not too many around where I live. Sad So, it is nice to stamp another one off the list. Big Grin A great size cache here with many swaps for people to trade.

21-Aug-19
Found today with Joolay. Enjoying the walk and working out the gates.
Cache in good condition. TFTC DARKSIDEDAN.

21-Aug-19
Found with Kittykatch before work. A plan was hatched to get a few of these today before work. The weather looked a bit worrying and it was pretty cold but once we started walking we soon warmed up. The fence was a bit of a worry but it worked out ok. Lovely to be out and about so early. I am usually pretty fond of my pillow so good I forced myself to get up and out. Cache in good condition. TFTC

#9384 - 12:01:00 PM; It was time to continue the hunt for clues as I continued my mission to solve the mystery at the museum. Found some fingerprints and a footprint on a recent trip to China, but was now searching for the remaining footprint and chasing shadows back home. It looked like some of the clues I was seeking were in Mulligans Flat, so that's where I headed on this beautiful winter's morning to try my hand. Finally a second clue revealed itself as I managed my fifth find for the mission on this cache once I reached GZ. TFTC DARKSIDEDAN. Smile

15-Jul-19
Another Museum clue in the fading light. There could have been a lot of hiding spots that could have wasted more light, but mercifully this cache was beyond that location.

Hey hey it's Saturday! Which usually means caching time for me. I've been saving these 12 types caches for a rainy day. With souvenirs up for grabs, it was the right moment to swoop like an aggressive magpie.
Thanks DSD for another geocache!!!

02-Jul-19
Found on an awesome caching run in Mulligan's Flat with sebass14. After crossing the correct gates and fences, the cache was quickly found in nice condition. Stamped the log all and well. Peaceful GZ. TNLNSL. TFTC DSD!

Nice and awesome cache
Found with Toyhunters
Thanks for the cache

30-Jun-19
I've had a nice little pocket of caches appear in this area so was keen to come find them. We have been having some lovely winters days lately and a walk about the reserve seemed a nice way to spend the morning. So with GreyHams we made plans to meet up and made our way across for an enjoyable morning out walking about the area with some great creative cache hides to be found and of course some good company too!

A change to the weather saw us arrive with the cold wind blowing right through so I was glad of the last minute beanie I had grabbed, regretting leaving the gloves in the car for a bit but once off walking and with plenty of banter and conversation the cold was not noticed and soon forgotten. (Was still pleased for the beanie though!!!)

Thanks for the cache DSD, a few fences to deal with but we managed around them okay and cache found no problems.

30-Jun-19
Today was the perfect day for a pleasant walk around Mulligans with Aquilus1... ok, maybe not perfect.... but it didnt rain at least. It was bitterly cold when we started with the wind cutting right through us, but we survived.

I have very few cache finds up this end of town so I was up for the loop, we did well. So many cool caches, some of them really should be 'large' I feel, as the enclosure counts.... not just the log container. Anyway, lots of cool caches up here.

Had to go the long way around, but no issues

14-Jun-19
Another one on my loop. All OK.

Thanks,

08-Jun-19
Part of a nice Saturday afternoon walk!

#5149 3rd for today

It's been quite a while since I've done any serious caching in Mulligans. It seems most of the originals are now retired and a whole bunch of ones have appeared. I live just across the road (and down a bit) in Harrison, so after lunch I popped over to grab some of these. Rather cool today with no sun or wind so can't complain too much. All in all a very pleasant way to spend a winter's arvo.

A nice easy mailbox.

Thanks DARKSIDEDAN.

30-May-19
Great good walk to find few caches.. thanks

A pleasant afternoon's caching 'rogaine' with AngelG27 to find the cluster of new caches in this corner of Mulligans Flat. We started around 1230 and finished around 1530, covering 6 to 8km. In addition to my finds we visited some others I had found that AngelG27 hadn't. We saw lots of different wildlife as we wandered around. Cache easily found. TFTC.

Cache 5041 on 4 May 2019.

After doing a few family thing in the morning, I teamed up with TikvaNZ to grab a few caches in Mulligans Flat early afternoon. And what a perfect day for it too. Sun was warm, breeze was cool and terrain was gentle going. I was surprised to grab all caches on my list - 15 - in about 3 hours rambling, must have been quite a few kilometers! A lovely stress free afternoon, and quite a few cache guardians spotted, including a shingle back lizard, two echidnas, some young curlews, and lots of wallabies and kangaroos.

This cache: another letterbox cache done and dusted.

Thanks DARKSIDEDAN. for the cache and the fun!

23-Apr-19
The Clear Water Mega event finished yesterday, but I decided to stay on for a couple of days to seek out a few more caches that interest me and explore more of Canberra and surrounds.

Today my main aim was to finish off the last half dozen or so challenge caches that I was wanting to get and find a few other target caches to the north of the city. Once again it has returned to great weather, which was just as well as my days activities involved a couple of longer walks.

I wandered around the Mulligans Flat Reserve for much of the morning, then spent the afternoon chasing the remaining challenge caches and a few others along the way in the nearby Gooyooraroo Nature Reserve.

Thanks DARKSIDEDAN. for the cache.

23-Apr-19
Having travelled all the way from Brisbane to attend the Mega event over the Easter long weekend, I was out and about from just after sun up with the aim of collecting as many caches as possible on my lengthy wish list. With the influx of cachers in town for the Mega I had tried to avoid the more popular caches, such as power trails, as much as possible. With the event winding up today and a lot of cachers heading home, I thought this was an ideal day to pick up some challenge caches.

My caching journey now brought me to Mulligans Flat Nature Reserve on a perfect autumn day to be out caching, made even better by the finding of this cache. Another letterbox to add to the collection. TFTC

22-Apr-19
I have been visiting Canberra and Queanbeyan for the Mega event. But today I had to say goodbye. After the flash mob event, I went on one last caching session in the North of Canberra.

So many Kangaroos here. There were a couple of big ones that were standing their ground so I was sure to give them a very wide berth.

Quick find.

Thanks for the cache.

*22 Apr 2019, Found @ 12:06 pm, Find # 9186.*

Day four of the Clear Waters Mega.
Today I headed out to find a few caches of significance in and around Queanbeyan and Canberra.
Letterbox caches are also on my list so I headed off to this one next and once at GZ a quick find was had.

**Thanks to DARKSIDEDAN. for placing this cache.**

21-Apr-19
In need of a letterbox for the Cacheopoly at the Queanbeyan Mega, this was one on my list of targets this morning in this lovely woodland area. I got through the Snake Gate ok, but then took far too long to figure out how to get through the next gate, not being from around here and not having seen this type of gate before. Once I figured it out, however, it was a breeze to walk along to GZ and find this letterbox. No kangaroos to be seen on this side of the fence, unlike my walk here, on which I had seen plenty.
TFTC, DARKSIDEDAN.. =^.^=
