What a delightful chapel, thankyou olthomas for placing a cache here to entice us to explore the interior, after finding the cache nearby.Log signed as VIIPERS for Val (Cybergran V) Ian (Riddell) Ian (icybeetas) Pam (weirdobiker) Evelyn (SciFiRulz) Ronice88 and Sylvia (the other half of the Riddell team who we would have been with us had she been well enough).A favourite point from me for this lovely chapel, and for endeavour3 for maintaining the cache.
Amazing to think back to 1880 and the conditions under which this sturdy church was built. Today for us its like Norfolk has been a myth or has at least has been in the imagination mirrored by faded school lessons for so longnow the dream to visit Norfolk Island is real! The holiday suddenly looks busy busy with a schedule of tours, events and 70+ caches to find. From the first step on the island everything has been fabulous. TFTC
Found by the VIIPERS. There may not be snakes on Norfolk Island, but now there are VIIPERS. We are V(al Cybergran V) I(an icybeetas) I(an Riddell) P(am weirdobiker) E(velyn SciFiRulz) R(onice Ronice88) and S(ylvia Riddell who is with us in spirit.)Stopped here and made a quick find of the cache, then checked out the Melanesian Mission Memorial Garden. Then I wandered into the church. Those stained glass windows are magnificent, especially the one above the entrance as you come in. TFTC
I have been told there are no snakes on Norfolk Island but I know that this week there are seven Vipers slithering around there. The VIIPERS are Val (Cybergran V), Ian ( half of the Riddell Team), Ian (icybeetas), Pam (weirdobiker), Evelyn (SciFiRulz) Ronice (ronice88) and Sylvia (the second half of the Riddell Team. Today we slithered to St Barnabas and made the find. Thank you olthomas for placing this cache which enhanced our visit to the island. The log was signed VIIPERS to save space.
A group of caching friends are visiting from the mainland and enjoying the scenery while caching. The log was signed as team (viipers) who include cybergran V, SciFiRulz, Riddell, Ronice88, icybeetas and myself. What a gorgeous church and we had a good look at the headstones at the back of the church. The church has been busy today with services for thanksgiving.
Out and about trying to get as many caches as we can. This was a group find. Lovely stained glass windows in the church. Thanks for the cache.

Found while visiting St Barnabas . What a glorious church! Easy find that allowed time to examine the nearby headstones. Tftc
Cache has been checked on by our local maintainer and is present and correct. Hint added
Apologies to hunters that the cache appears to be AWOL. We will ask that our super local maintainer checks it out as soon as is feasible.
Found it, a few days ago, whilst on a bus trip with the group. Visiting the beautiful church. TFTC
#7472-Came back today having been here with the group yesterday on a tour to do the cache and have a better look around and take some more pics of this beautiful place. Found the cache nearby to the huge amazing tree. Thanks
This is a beautiful old church and a special part of the history of the island. We spent a fun and productive week geocaching on Norfolk Island, as well as seeing the spectacular views. We also did several tours and other activities on offer, which highlighted different aspects of the island life and history. Thanks for this cache.
Spectacular. What an amazing church and amazing tree. Its so big you could fit 30+ people under it with space to spare. Ill come back on Sunday with spare change for the box with the slot in it. The only one missing in this photo is Calypso62 as he was inside the church preaching to two visitors about the virtues of geocaching. ????
Beautiful old church. Awesome big fig. ?? Having an awesome time geocaching on NI with friends. My first organised Geotravel holiday. ?? TFTC olthomas

#7537 NI Day 2Started the day with a half day island tour. Seems that we are lucky in that most places we stop, there is a nearby caching opportunity. This one was found while 30 others were exploring an amazing tree, which was near an amazing little church.TFTC olthomas
A joint find with a group of geocachers on holiday on Norfolk Island during a tour of the Island. TFTC

What happens when you give a bunch of caches some free time on a bus tour. They of course head to the nearest cache. Great old church and massive tree. A quick find by the mob before a group photo in the tree. Log signed and re hid. TFTC
2nd day on Norfolk Island. This morning our Norfolk Island Geo Adventure group went on the half day island tour. When we stopped here on the tour there was not enough time, so much to see and do! We began by going inside the beautiful building and learning about it's history and looking at this historic buildings external architecture. Looking outside you couldn't miss that magnificent tree, I've seen many of these trees but this one outshines them all!We gathered for a large group photo in the large tree. After some fun and laughs and lots of photos there was just enough time to grab the cache. Luckily it was an easy hide.TFTC # 6003
#14379 11:45The second day of Geo Adventure 2024 with a group of geocachers visiting Norfolk Island. This morning we started with an organized bus tour of the island. We learned a lot about the fascinating history of the island and the various settlements. What a beautiful church this is. Full of history and so much detail to appreciate both inside and outside. The tree was nothing like I have ever seen before and after a group photo there was also a cache to find.TFTC olthomas and endeavour3. A FP on the way for the great location.

Found during an island orientation tour. What an amazing building. Thanks for maintaining this cache endeavour3
I had many problems here trying to get the GPS to settle, after quite some time I gave up and headed back to the Olive Cafe for some lunch and a coffee. I sent out another plea for help and found my PAF talking to me from across the street, we chatted some more at the cafe. With further intel, and after my visit to Government House, on an open day, I came back to find this and saw it in plain sight. I also visited the beautiful chapel.
Found after searching to 2 o bious thing ,so I spotted a third and had the cache in hand Day 5 of my Norfolk Island adventure. I can understand why people want to live here . Its a little bit of paradise. Wow so much history on the island, Im enjoying my wandering seeing the sites . Some logs signed as N2OThis is my 12107find.Thankyou olthomas for placing and maintaining this cache
Went for a trip to the west today, where we visited this beautiful church. Went out in the back yard where we admired the giant fig tree, and then found the cache after a short search.
Must have checked the hide location half a dozen times before checking more thoroughly! Wonderful church, thank you
T-Tech and I are visiting Norfolk Island for our 40th anniversary. We arrived from Brisbane and are staying for 2 weeks at Endeavour Lodge, and plan to get some R&R, see all of the sites, learn the history, and gather every cache here so we can claim the Se Dun Challenge Today we had a leisurely start with a visit to the Show followed by a wander through town and a coffee at our favourite cafe. The plan for the rest of the day is to visit Bombora Beach, Crystal Pool, 100 Acre Wood, Headstone Point and St Barnabas Church, gathering caches along the way. This is a lovely church building. I'd like to see the windows from inside. GPS and the hint led us up the garden path, so to speak, but T-Tech eventually made the find. TFTC, olthomas.
Over with IolantheK from Brisbane celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary [^]Out for another day of caching up the west side of the island.Somewhat difficult find made harder by a miss leading Hint (advise ignore the hint)Good co-ords, cache in good condition [^]Lovely location, humungus Fig tree TFTC olthomas (maintained by endeavour3)

Zoom zoom zooming around in Kermit (green not red) Logging as DEMCBR.Fantastic weather, warm and sunny after chilly temps when leaving home. This was definitely nit a quick and easy find and here at St. Barnabas today. Took us way too long to rummage around all of the possibilities before landing on the right spot. Thanks so much for the many caches olthomas and of course for giving me a reason and incentive to get out here, and to experience this part of the world in a different light
# 8910 Today I joined iPlod65, Joolay, barb2e and contesta on the first full day of our Norfolk trip. It was just stunning out there today and we're starting to be able to find our way around. This morning was an orientation tour which helped a lot and was just great. Some logs signed collectively "Dem CBR".Sure the church is fantastic, but this is one of the largest trees I've ever seen! An easy find here. Thanks olthomas (maintained by endeavour3) for the Traditional Cache
During July my wife and I took a break from Melbourne and spent a wonderful week on the Island - the first time for me (but hopefully not the last) and the second for her. Such a delightful place! I took my GPSr, with the traditionals downloaded (I don't really make the time to do puzzles or multis) and figured I would find a few as we went around the place. I never had any intention of finding all 41 of them, but somewhere around day 5 I realised it was actually feasible.
In the end it was a close call - one quite tough-to-get-to cache (Bird Island) I had to visit twice after not reading the description before my first visit and discovering it is really a multi and then stuffing up the calculations so I had an almost blind search for the cache; another (St Barnabas) was out of its hidey hole so took three visits before I found it among some fallen leaves nearby). But I got there and managed to claim them all.
In the interests of saving the limited data on my phone, I only look placeholder drafts during the week and am completing them back home, a month later. So with all due apologies, they are going to be pretty generic for the most part. But I will add comments about those that I particularly remember. No matter how detailed the final logs, I want to say a big thanks to those who have placed the caches and those who continue to maintain them. I had great fun finding them and they really helped make sure I saw as much of the Island as possible. So - a big and sincere TFTC

Right. The very last traditional for me to find on the last day of our holiday. No time to spare... I have to admit I was a bit anxious about finding this one, the one I needed to complete the set. The thing was that I had looked at it on two previous occasions without any success (but while totally appreciating the stunning cathedral and the extraordinary tree). I had resorted to writing to the CO and the cache maintainer. Both replied with helpful hints and both said they would be happy to show me, except one was in Western Australia and one in Greece. Hmmm...
Armed with a specific hint, I returned. The hint was specific enough that I should have been confident, but I was also pretty certain I had checked that exact spot. As it turned out, I had. The cache was not there. The only place it could be and it was missing. This was about to turn into quite a big disappointment, but my experience, instincts and determination all kicked in and I decided to explore the possibility that it had been dislodged. I searched around through the grass and fallen leaves for several minutes and was just about to give up when - there it was!! Such a huge relief - even greater than my Bird Rock find!! With much joy I signed the log and returned the container to its proper place.
All Norfolk Island traditionals found. Yay!!!

What a beautiful church to drop by while on the island. Not just an ornate façade, but quaint and very pretty inside as well.
Mrs. Gunnie was keen to have a look inside so after wandering around, we tried the door and aha, entry is ok. The windows look spectacular from the inside looking out as well.
With the oohing and ahhing all done, I ventured off to find the cache which I pulled from the first place I looked thanks to great coords. I quickly etched my name in the log, tucked it back as found and reunited with Mrs. G.
Thanks to olthomas for the cache placement and to endeavour3 for maintaining.

We came to this location twice in search of this cache and spent quite some time looking. We decided we had a bit of cache blindness on the low rated cache. We resorted to contacting a cacher who had made the find last month and to the Endeavour 3 who maintains the cache. He confirmed the cache was missing and a replacement cache with our name on it would be placed for us to claim the find. Best tree house ever. Thanks for bringing us here and TFTC
Omg what a site's! The church is not too bad either tftc fav pt for bringing us here
Pulled in yesterday just before a tour group so had to come back today. All quiet today, and a quick find thankfully after seeing the nearby vegetation with millions of likely hiding spots. Signed the log sheet G.M. to save space. Tftc, and tks e3 for mtce.
Came out earlyish this morning as it gets a bit hot/humid later in the day. This grave yard was very old and interesting as was the beautiful church. Pretty impressive fig tree too. Enjoyed our visit very much, thanks for the cache.
FIRST CACHE IN NORFLOLK. I’ve done a whole bunch in Aus but came back to norfolk island to spend time with family and remembered to geocache while i was here. Absolutely amazing spot love the humongous tree
The most incredible tree. What fun and laughter it would have seen over the decades. Truly magnificent.
Log is full on this one.

My sister got married at this church in 2001 so today we made this our first stop with her kids, The Bruce’s!
Our whole family went to the Christmas Carols under the big tree this afternoon. So I waited around a little while for most people to leave so I could find the cache. Signed and replaced. Attached a photo of the log and my Honeybee keeping geocoin and the graveyard.
We like to come play in this massive tree. Imagine the generations who have played in its boughs.
Thanks for the cache

Our 2nd day on Norfolk Island, Wazza9 made the find, stamped log and replaced. Thanks to CO, this was a great place to visit and see inside the church, with it's history.
TFTC,
What an amazing location. After signing the log, we had a look around and Nana said she thought about ringing the bell.
I was impressed with the windows and wondered if we could go inside and was surprised in this day and age to find the door unlocked.
So glad I tried because inside we found detail that has to be seen to be appreciated. Have to thank the local community for allowing us to view with a favourite. Also visited trackables.

Nice quick easy find late in the afternoon while on a drive around the Island. Great little church to look through. Terrific huge tree in the back of the church. Thanks for putting a cache at this interesting place to find. TFTC. SL. Replaced where found. Cheers.
The convicts had now spent 2 nights locked in their prison at Ocean Breeze Cottages. This was hard labour being forced to lookout over Philip Island while undertaking excessive drinking during the afternoons.
This morning the Bounti buses transported the prisoners to different locations across the Island to undertake tourist work activities. A long term prisoner on the Island had passed messages to the new arrivals that it was possible to sneak away from the church service during the bus tour and seek out this hidden cache.
