I am regretfully archiving this cache since there's been no response from nor action by the cache owner within the time frame requested in the last reviewer note.
Came down to check on this due to recent DNF's. The benches have been replaced with new ones, which look great, but of course the cache has gone with the old ones. We will need to sort out another cache and hiding spot/position.
Looked all over but no luck today. Wonderful view. Watched the sun set from Otaki Beach. Beautiful.
Sat, looked - using eyes, hands and feet but couldn't locate this one today. Will keep an eye on any finds in the next few days.
We had a look for this one while on a bike ride with a group of friends. Once they had seen the vista (which was really magic) they were keen to move on so our look was quite cursory. TFTC
No joy today in finding this but enjoying the view regardless! A little frustrating when previous log says ‘easy’ but hidden from me. Maybe next time I’m up this way?
Couldn’t find this one today. Will need to come back next time we’re down this way.
From Auckland.
Dankie/TFTC.

Yay third time lucky
Always great when you finally find it
Thanks for replacing

I am sure that I have tried to find this one on a previous trip to Otaki. However this time I persisted, spurred on by the recent logs describing it as sneaky. And I would agree that it is a sneaky hide. However as my mother would say -- you always find it in the last place that you look. This was certainly true today, but there were lots of places to look.\
Thanks WelkiNZ
Thanks WelkiNZ
On my way home to Lower Hutt after a weekend of Geocaching events at Kimberley Reserve, Ohau and Levin.
Spent quite some time here as I was interrupted a few times in my searching by muggles walking and biking past. I was getting frustrated with my searching as I had checked the same places a number of times. I had missed checking one area though, and there it was, in it's sneaky hiding place! TFTC

Great view, that was a sneaky hide, took us a while to find it. Thanks for placing WelkiNZ

Only took a glimpse at the view because I was concentrating on finding the cache. We took a side each and strangely enough the cache was eventually found on my side after I had thought I had searched all possibilities. That is one reason why its great to cache in a team. TFTC # 18,051
Temporary disabling as when I walked past today it was not there. Need to replace - hopefully later today.
11.00am. Only a few "host" objects to check and i got it about half way through. A number of whitebaiters out today.
Thank you. David.
Thank you. David.
The little midget found it after Id been there a few times with no luck. Crappy day, but a good way to blow out the cobwebs of being home all day TFTF
Took a bit of searching. Glad we were with a 6 year old with sharp eyes. Thanks for the cache and story.
The youngest member of our group found the cache as all of us oldies had more or less given up. Thank you!
Had the day off work and headed down towards Otaki. Stunning sunny winters day. Never been to the estuary before and enjoyed all the birdlife. No problems finding the cache. Loved the views over the wetlands to Kapiti island. Thanks for bringing us here. Cache and log all fine. Thanks for the smiley.
Sorting out another cache close by and I decided to check on this one too due to the recent DNF. I can confirm that it is still in place and ready to be found.

The benches have been reinstalled after they were stolen a few years back. We needed to replace a missing cache, so we have gone back to the original type of hiding place. Coordinates and hint have been updated.

After checking on another local cache, we thought we would check on this one too. Container could not be found so we are temporarily disabling this until new one can be placed.
Found took a wee while to find but using coordinates was in place first find ever!
TFTC judging by the previous logs I knew what I was looking for. Lucky enough to sign the log as a C130 Hercules was flying overhead.
Cache # 4,995 - third cache of the day. Looked in the wrong, but logical, place first then followed the GPS to the correct spot. Easy find then! Sat and enjoyed the view and some great conversation with the newbie potential cacher who was along with me today. All good here. TNLNSL. TFTC!
Found it on beautiful evening with RogerW1nz on brief visits in Otaki Beach.
Sneaky one with clever hint!

#1342. After an enjoyable takeaway tea at the beach with Tramyard & my muggle brother, it was time for me to knock off my last 3 unfound caches in the area. This was the second. Nice and easy find in the setting sun. Very subtle hint.

We were in the area doing a spot of xmas shopping and chasing some geo caches today.
This is an interesting little spot with the whaling pot, thanks for bringing us here.
It took a little bit of searching before we spotted the sneaky little blighter.

Out and about with little blue hen to do some of the arts trail. Time allowed for a couple of caches. Nice views. Tftcsl
Sat and ate my bacon 'n' egg pie at the lookout, admired the view. Cache an easy find once walkers moved on. Tftc!
First Cache in the North Island! Beautiful views, I love the eco-restoration efforts too!
A quick find although there were a stream of muggles to avoid. There are just a couple of spots left in the logbook.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
After a DNF recently I thought it would be wise to do a maintenance and log check. Glad to report that it was only a very short distance from where it was placed. Moved back to exactly where it should be and it's all ready to be found
No joy here after a pretty thorough search, seemed pretty obvious where this should have been.
(# 5812). A trip up the coast to visit relatives. Did a few caches as well. A nice spot. A quick find. Everything in order. TFTC
This was a good place to visit on a pleasant day in terms of the weather. I was concerned that I had mis-interpreted the hint as I couldn't find the wee treasure where I expected it to be. I then spotted it the grass a short distance away. After completing the paperwork, I replaced the cache to where I think it belongs. I am puzzled by the previous log as the container I found was certainly a micro and there were plenty of finds recorded on the logsheet. Maybe the finder has confused this cache with another?
After completing this mission, we proceeded to the beach for a wee stroll.
After completing this mission, we proceeded to the beach for a wee stroll.
I parked up by the forest entry and went for a walk in this direction first. I was going to admit defeat as there is absolutely no place to hide a micro, but after reading the logs that it is not a micro as listed, it was a quick find of the smaller container. TFTC!!
I'm not one to ever day-trip to Otaki on a weekend because the roads always seem jammed up with people doing just that. But today with light traffic conditions I made an exception to find some caches down by the beach. This was first up and seemed like a great spot for a cache. I didn't read the description first - only the cache size - and as a result I didn't realize I was looking for a nano. I eventually spotted it anyway and could sign it without having to unroll the whole log. Rolling up these things is not exactly my favourite aspect of geocaching so small mercy there. Thanks for bringing me to a great spot.
Have come to Otaki beach lots of time before but never been to this lookout platform before. What a great spot. Thanks for placing a cache here
Wow. What an amazing spot. Had no idea this even existed. Loved the history of the Pot and the views from here are spectacular. Pity about the wind today (Otaki Kite Festival enjoyed it)
Thanks for the cache. Did with Mycro Man

Great hint. Found the cache lying on the ground, and after signing the log, replaced it where I supposed it was meant to be. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.
One of six found in the Otaki area after lunch, having already found six along Te Horo back roads before lunch. Found this one reasonably quickly. Very windy at this spot this afternoon, but great views out towards Kapiti Island! #3123. TFTC.
Out with Talla64 looking for a cache or two on this first day of the New Year. We met phylapos at GZ and it was nice to say hello. Talla found the cache after a few minutes searching. Thanks for bringing us to this great spot and thanks for the cache.
Out and about with Flowerydaze looking for caches. This was a little tricky but we found it after a small search. Met up with phylapos who was also searching for the cache. We all signed the log book and went on our way.
Nice lookout on a good afternoon. Found the container on the ground so replace where it should be. Thanks CO for the cache.
We intended to go for a walk in Otaki Forks, but unfortunately the road was closed to get there.
Plan B was to come here and look for the old cache.
On the good advice of WelkiNZ we met we will make some caches along the river and in particular that of Chrystalls Bend.

Thanks WelkiNZ for the geocache [^]

29 September 2019 10:28. A brief diversion on the way up to the event at Ohau saw us nab this little guy. Tftc
#7382. Came north today with Infoferret to attend the event at Ohau. On the way north we stopped to pick up a few caches that have caused issues in the past. This one I had a DNF even though others found it after my visit. Since then it has gone missing for real and been replaced. This time I found it in less than a minute after I noticed a spot that looked promising if not slightly exposed to muggles if not well covered. We both signed the logsheet and replaced the cache as found. Lots of people around here today trying their luck white-baiting. Thanks for the cache WelkiNZ.
Called here while exploring in the area this morning, found the cache pretty quickly. I hope it lasts in this position! Great views from here and an interesting bit of history. Signed log, TFTC
#11,339. Scenic view from the Otaki River Estuary Viewing Platform off Atkinson Avenue in Otaki Beach. Fortunately GZ was pretty quiet at the time of our visit. Found after a short search. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

Went for a walk down around the lookout today and noticed that the place where the cache is hidden (and hence cache itself) has gone missing. Maintenance or stolen? Temp disabled until we know more or can replace cache.
took me longer to find than it should have but got there in the end, nice bit of history here, TFTC
Great find. Great spot on a glorious day. How nice Otaki Beach was to spend time at on a warm, sunny day. Tftc
Very good find with woolwood9.
Nice weather and great spot for a cache, soon found but easily missed.
Thanks WelkiNZ for bringing us here.
