Found this penny smasher in the Gatlingburg, TN mall. USA
I have always liked to collect these things, even before geocaching. Unfortunately, it took me two tries to figure out that the machine was broken and didn't get my smashed penny.
Thanks for the cool cache,

This smash a penny machine is found in front of some shops near Cherokee, NC.
Could not help but notice a few duplicate logs, so if followup visits are being accepted, then let it known that Bre and I were in Boston for FirstNight activities and we went to the Museum of Science and took in a Light show featuring Pink Floyd music. The penny smasher has moved across the hall because the gift store is closed for renovations but we tried one for a photo op.

This one has been on our list for awhile. This morning while we were in one of the rest areas on the FL Turnpike the purrrrrtier member of the team spotted this machine. We went back to the SUV for the camera and GPS and the rest is history. Thanks for sharing!
We stopped at the World's Largest McDonalds (Vinita, OK) for a pit stop and spotted these two. One is a Quarter smashing machine and one is a penny smashing machine. The kids really wanted to smash a penny! Couldn't get a reading inside so we took one outside. TFTC Rock-6
There are actually 2 machines at this location. Each machine has 4 choices of smashings! Usually the machines are outside, but now during the winter, they are inside. Smashed 2 pre 82 pennies which will be on their way! Location is Newport Scrimshaw...going out of business for at least the past 15 years! Newport RI!!!
I am an avid elongated penny collector so I couldn't pass this one up. I don't have the coordinates for our zoo but thought you would appreciate the pictures of them anyway...these machines are awesome! What I do have coordinates for is this barebones machine that currently has one die on it, the Buffalo Main Lighthouse of Buffalo, NY. But please don't come looking for it, because it is in my bedroom and my folks would probably have a heart attack if people started knocking on the door!
Laughing Sal penny smasher at Laughing Sal's in San Francisco. There are a ton of penny smashers around here, many already logged, but this one hasn't been.
We were up in SF to log the Torpedos of the Pampanito for the LC cache when we happened across these two penny smashers. I'm taking the one of the left which is for the USS Pampanito, a WWII sub that is on permanent display here. Thanks!
Rosie the Riveter penny smasher in San Francisco, near the gift shop for the submarine USS Pampatino floating museum. These were inside a doorway and when I stepped in to get a closer pic of them the grumpy gift shop guy told me that this was their "office" and not to go in, so unfortunately there are no pics from closer than about 10 feet away.
This is an old and disabled penny smasher machine near Tom's Farms in the Temescal Canyon region of Riverside County. The geo-ranger spotted it and was disheartened that it was out of order, for we enjoy smashing things, especially pennies!!!
I saw this smashed penny machine in the Opryland Mall Nashville Tn. It is in the Alabama Grill restraunt entry way. Thanks.
This penny smasher is at Great Lakes Crossing in Auburn Hills MI at the Pro Bass shop with a added bonus the Brinks truck in pic. TFTF
After finding a micro in the parking lot I went inside to use the facilities and what did I find - a penny smashing machine. I ran out to get the GPS and camera. Note the guy in the first photo - He really wanted to know what I was up to.
This machine is located inside the Okahumpa Service Plaza building on the Florida Turnpike, near MM301. The coords were taken outside the door seen in the second photo.

Hubby and I B&B'd it this weekend. We were walking on the pier and I spotted the penny smashers everywhere! They reminded me they were a cache and I happen to have my GPS in my pocket. Lucky me! This one is on Fisherman's Wharf 2 located in Monterey, CA. It is the last penny smasher on your left hand side before the very end of the pier. Hubby chose the one that said "I Love You, Monterey, CA".
Found that very old penny smasher -in Europe a Cent-smasher- at Sinsheim / Germany..
I found this penny smasher inside the Bass Pro Shop in the Harrisburg Mall in Harrisburg, PA
While visiting Linville Carvens I spied this machine in the gift shop. After smashing a couple wheat pennies we took the tour. The place is privetly owned and located in the mountains of north Carolina. The tour cost 6 bucks and is worth every "penny". Thanks for the fine cache,

Finding this was an unexpected suprise. Went here to ask permission to place a cache. Not only did we get permission, but found this treasure.
Found this penny smasher inside the Imax-Aquarium complex in Charleston, South Carolina.
Pier Head, Liverpool Waterfront, Liverpool, UK
A quick web search came up with 4 possible locations in Liverpool. Three in easy walking distance of my office and one at Liverpool Football Club. The nearest (as it was a very cold day) was this machine at Pier Head that imprints your penny with a "Mersey Ferries" Design.

Found this smash a penny just outside of Little Falls on the I90 Westbound lane.
Racer and I of course had to smash a couple while we were there.
I did not get a picture of the machine, I had forgotten to take my camera on this trip.
These smash a penny's are the best. We love the designs, and it gives us a reason to empty out the change container in the truck,

This peeny smashing machine is located in the inn at Fall Creek Falls State Park which is near Pikeville, Tennessee.
We found this penny machine down near Fishermans Wharf in San Francisco. There is a penny machine about every 300 hundred feet. We found 11 machines in all on are walk to night. This machine was 4 different designs you could pick. It is out of order right now, but the shop person told me that it would be up and running in a couple of days. The designs were of local attractions like Fshermans Wharf and the likes. Thanks
Much to my surprise, Rosicrucian Park has two penny smashers, not just one. The one I had previosuly logged is inside the museum at the gift shop, and it creates a smashed penny with the imprint of of a pyramid in a circle. (It's still there, I checked today.) This one however is in the planetarium, and it creates an imprint of a cat statue, which I guess may represent Bast. Despite many visits to the park here and the museum, this was my first time inside the planetarium building today.
I found this penny smashing machine down at the waterfront park in Salem, Oregon. There are two machines with three patterns in each machine for six different patterns.
A machine that does smashings and mashings of pennies at Yosemite's Curry Village. 4 coin designs are available. 50sumtin
We found this Penny Smasher in the Children's Museum of Indianapolis. It's in the main lobby.
The Children's Museum is such an awesome place...and look forward to an Exhibit there early next year that will incorporate Geocaching! We were asked to consult on the exhibit and help try a few of their ideas.

Arrgg, the crafty SalemPirates noticed no one had logged the doubloon smasher at the bottom of the Tower of Terror in California Adventure. The crew was in town for some well deserved shore leave when 1st Mate Kimberly and 2nd Mate Steven braved the ghosts of this haunted ride.
This Penny smasher is located just to the left upon entering the main doors of Cabela's. This store is a huge outdoor sporting goods retail outlet located at the Highlands in Ohio County above Wheeling, West Virginia.TFTC

Santa Cruz Wharf Penny Smasher. This machine is one of several along the pier. This penny smasher is the closest one to the end of the pier. It stands in front of a store called 'Made in Santa Cruz'. There are three design selections on the machine. A lighthouse is one of the nifty scenes you can choose to stamp on a penny for $.50.
This penny smasher is located near wildfire roller coaster in Silver Dollar City at Branson Missouri. I helped a little boy smash his penny.
We came across this penny smasher while a trip to the Baltic Sea. The machine is located in the board walk of Heringsdorf, Germany. Heringsdorf is a well known spa om the island of Usedom.

I was visiting the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles (to seek out the Carbonaceous Chondrite Meteorite they had there for the Carbonaceous Chondrite Locationless Cache) and I noticed they had a Penny Smashing maching there... Apparently the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum (nearby) and the La Brea Tar Pits Museum all have Penny Smashers somewhere on their premises...!
Anyway, the Natural History Museum is a great place to take your kids if you have them or go by yourself if you have free time. There are so many things to look at an explore at this museum...! I'm going to have to come back some time soon.
Admission is 9 bucks for adults, less if your a student etc.; children are $6.25 each I think (check the website: http://www.nhm.org/information/admission.htm for the details). If you're a member then of course it's free...!
Oops! I didn't use a pre-1982 penny for this one. I'll bring cleaned pre-1982 pennies the next time I come here...
Thanks for the cache!

Here is the photo of my smashed groschen (could not find a penny in my country) and the tower, where it was smashed. A kind person at the front desk handed me a advertisement about the Donauturm in Vienna, Austria, but she did not want me to take a photo inside near the elevators, so I took the photos with the GPS outside the front entrance.

There are actually two machines at the enterance to the gift shop at the Portland Metro (Washington Park zoo. Each machine has four designs to choose from and they are both hand crank. I smashed a bat penny in honor of the upcoming Halloween holiday. The first machine has a choice of a bat, a lion, a grey wolf or a rhino. The second machine wasn't working today, the coin tray was jammed but it offers Packy, Portlands famous elephant, a parrot, a monkey and a giraffe. The imprint lettering says Portland Zoo. This was my second trip to get this one as last trip, I forgot to snap a picture with my GPS in it. Thanks, it was fun!

Lots of these machines around the Fishermans' Wharf area in San Francisco, CA. Found this one that hadn't been listed yet outside a souvenir store near Ghirardelli Square.

You can say "Aloha From Hawaii" with your penny in this machine. You'll find it in the Koko Marina Shopping Center on Oahu, Hawaii. The machine is in a breezeway, but the coordinates will get you close. TFTC. While I couldn't get the terraserver to work, I did use the "find on page" feature of Mozilla and didn't find this one among the other Hawaiian ones.

Prague, Czech Republic
Found 9-13; logged 9-27-2005
I was visiting Prague on a recent trip. After crossing the Charles Bridge, I decided to climb the Old Town Bridge Tower at the east end.
Having marked this reverse cache in my mind, I was elated to find a 'Penny Smasher' in the gift shop on about the fourth floor. Okay it wasn't exactly a 'penny smasher', it was a Zetton Smasher.
As I understand it the bridge and tower were constructed in 1357 during the time of Charles IV, King of Bohemia and the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire.
Now about the smasher: it cost 20 Czech Koruns, or about $1.00 US. They provided a nice new unprinted Zetton for you to smash so the imprint is quite nice.
I checked this site with the Locationless Proximity Analyzer.

Spottedthis machine at The Glasgow Science Centre in Scotland whilst doing some nearby caches!
Found Half Moon Bay penny smasher inside Cameron's English Pub in Half Moon Bay. The penny smasher is located inside the pub just as you enter it. There is only one design choice, but it is a nice one and apparently designed by a local named Lisa (per a note that was posted on the machine). This was a fun find in a very ecceltically decorated english pub in Half Moon Bay, right off of Hwy 1.
Found this one at Barefoot Landing, North Myrtle Beach, SC. It's too bad this one happened to "Out of Order". I was surprised that there was only 1 design available. That's the first I've seen that didn't have 4 selections.
The Rainforest Cafe Restaurant in Downtown Disney in Orlando, FL was a veritable gold mine for coin smashers. In this one location were three machines; two smashers of the penny and one smasher of the quarter. The quarter smasher was the first I think I've ever seen. One of the penny smasher uppers and the quarter smasher upper was right in the entrance to the restaurant. The other penny smasher upper was in the hallway near the restrooms. Do I get extra credit for smashing the quarter? Scuba Girl and I have had a lot of fun finding these smashers in the Orlando area. Thanks for the fun.
Found this penny smasher while doing the tourist thing in Old Town, Orlando, FL. I think that this is the first smasher I've ever seen that doesn't have a manual handle for you to crank...it's all automated. You put in the coins, pick a design and off it goes.
In Phoenix for the weekend and found this smasher at the BOB - Bank One Baseball Park, home of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Smasher is located in the main souvenir store. Coordinates are at one the entrance gates as GPS doesn't work inside the stadium. It doesn't appear to be taken so here I am.
Found in Sedona, AZ on the sidewalk of Main Street while actually looking for a virtual cache (GC4C78). We saw several of these while wandering this somewhat "touristy" area.

We spotted this penny smasher at Pac Bell Park. We came up for a Giants game and actually spotted this on the way to grab a cache that is inside the park. I was going to get a penny, but the kid that went before me lost his money. Thanks for the cache.
This machine is located in the Science Station located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. It is a hand crank model that the grandkids just loved to operate. It contains 4 diffrent Dies. Just crank it until the arrow points to the picture of what you want. Then deposit coins and start cranking.
10:22 a.m. - We were already late leaving Yellowstone N.P. when the lady bison wanted to go into the Yellowstone Store by the Old Faithful Snow Lodge to get one more thing. Then, I spotted the smasher and rushed off to get the camera. The clerk thought I was a little crazy but I guess she is used to tourists after a whole summer of them. We took the picture and got out of the store before she ran us out.
Thanks for the cache. Sorry we didn't get you a penny but she was already a little upset with me for holding up the line while I got the camera.
